Frank Rich’s Tea Party Lies
by Warner Todd HustonFrank Rich’s column in the New York Times opinion section this weekend was at the very least two things: Lies and the rehashed work of another writer. But it was also a third thing and that third thing was cover for his buddy in the Oval office and for the hard-core left-wing agenda he’s trying to force down our throats. Rich lent that cover by desperately trying to discredit “the Tea Party “as a funded-from-the-top, sham of a movement. The truth is, though, that “the Tea Party” is not funded by shadowy, rich right-wingers. It isn’t funded at all in most cases.

First of all most of what Rich wrote was but rehashed words from Jane Mayer’s slam against the Koch Brothers of New York. Three quarters of what Rich penned really came from Mayer’s New Yorker piece on the philanthropists. So, big demerits for Frank Rich for simply appropriating Mayer’s piece.
But the real point of Rich’s piece was to pile onto Mayer’s slanted attack piece with some echoed slams against the Tea Party movement in order to discredit it all. Rich is desperate to make the movement seem like a marionette show with rich “sugar daddies” funding it and controlling it from the top.
“There’s just one element missing from these snapshots of America’s ostensibly spontaneous and leaderless populist uprising,” Rich says of the Tea Party events, “the sugar daddies who are bankrolling it, and have been doing so since well before the ‘death panel’ warm-up acts of last summer.”
Rich then rehashes Mayer’s examples of where the Koch brothers put their money in the form of Americans For Prosperity and Freedom Works, two nationwide, very active, and successful conservative advocacy groups.
Now, it is absolutely true that both AFP and Freedom Works have had the cash to put on large events in Washington D.C. and other cities. But it is not true that either of these groups controls and runs “the Tea Party” movement from above.
In fact, both AFP and Freedom Works were sort of caught unawares when the Tea Parties started forming spontaneously all across the nation in early 2009. Both had to rush to try and tap into that passion. Neither was initially prepared for the amazing energy that the Tea Party has unleashed.
Yes, these two organizations have held many events. But the number of evens that they have held, funded and had a hand in operating are but a small number compared to the hundreds if not thousands of Tea Party groups that started up all on their own, all with their own funding and members, all without the bankrolling of a “sugar daddy” named Koch.
To say that the Koch brothers, or Dick Armey, or Americans for Prosperity’s Tim Phillips control the Tea Party movement is simply a lie. In fact, these advocacy groups are like the 80-pound child taking his 200-pound dog for a walk. The kid may seem like the owner, but it is the big dog in control of where the walk ends up heading! The Tea Party is the 200-pound dog that neither AFP, nor Freedom Woks can control. These groups are the 80-pound kid holding on for dear life, trying to stay relevant in the minds of the Tea Party movement.
And Rich makes a second mistake — or calculation — in addressing the Tea Party movement. He keeps saying “the Tea Party” as if it is a single entity. It is not. I have been interacting with, writing about, and attending rallies with various Tea Party groups since the first days of the movement. There is one thing that holds true throughout. They are not connected one to the other in any meaningful way.
But you see, if Rich and his anti-traditional American ideologues can make it appear as if “the Tea Party” is run from the back pocket of the Koch brothers, it is easier to discredit as a false front set up by secretive, shadowy forces. If it were all a Koch enterprise, now that is a strawman that Frank Rich could knock down. But if the Tea Party is understood as millions of individual Americans following their patriotic hearts, that is an impossible image to discredit.
So you can see why Rich and his cohorts are desperate to make it “the Tea Party” instead of revealing the truth.
No, there is no “the Tea Party.” There are hundreds of groups, all unconnected, all operating on their own hook with their own ideas, rules and hierarchies. In fact, this is the one draw back with the movement. There is at this time no reliable way to get them directed into a pointed and effective political force.
But extreme left-wingers like Frank Rich are desperate to discredit this true American movement. He wants to make you Tea Party members into dupes, fools, and chumps led by “radical right-wingers.” He needs to make of you the useful idiots to the moneyed elites.
But I’ll guarantee you if you ask 99 percent of all Tea Party groups if they are being bankrolled by anyone they’ll look at you and simply laugh. They are sure to say they WISHED that someone would bankroll them because as it is now they bankroll themselves and in this horrid Obama economy any outside “sugar daddy” would be welcome news!
The truth is the dreaded Koch brothers are not bankrolling and controlling the Tea Party. Neither is Dick Army or Tim Phillips. But Obama’s mindnumbed minions, useful idiots like Frank Rich, are desperate to discount the patriotic efforts of millions of individual citizens who have become disgusted by Obamaism. It is because these millions of individual patriotic American citizens are a threat to their Euro-lite, left-wing agenda.
The left is frightened of you, folks. A look at the venom spewed at Glenn Back’s Restoring America rally is proof of the unhinged hatred that the left has for you. They cannot stand the idea that you are about to put the kabosh on their decades old plan to eliminate the America we grew up with and replace it with one unrecognizable to a patriot.
And that is what Frank Rich tried so hard to do with his editorial. Sad for him he is whistling past the graveyard.

"Rich is desperate to make the movement seem like a marionette show with rich “sugar daddies” funding it and controlling it from the top."
It's called "projection." The same way they use the charge of "racism" or "bigotry," when they are the actual racists and bigots.
Did you expect something different from the opinion section of the New York Times?
And you misspelt Dick Armey, in the second instance used.
"Dick Army" reads like some sort of perverse Liberal gathering.
All the progressives want to do is protect their turf, their plantation — By telling lies.
Glenn beck did more to honor the message and memory of Martin Luther King in a few hours than the whole race hustle industry has done over the last 40 years or so.
Picture in your mind how Rev Wright would have fit in onstage ….
What's next…our votes in November 2010 being called "lies"?I don't see the tea-partiers burning down whole warehouses to cover up voter fraud…
Fascinating developments as the left continues to try to paint themselves as the majority while marginalizing anyone with any conservative values – they do not care as to your race, just your politics. I am thrilled the race crap has been drug out and whacked down. On the Beck v. Sharpton situation, again, only the liberals associated with the Sharpton farce made negative and deragatory comments about Beck, while Beck and his following took the high road on the issues and sought glory in God himself. I hope this conservative intensity can hold through the next 2 election cycles.
Best to all.
LMAO………………..WHO THE HELL IS FRANK RICH???????? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
nobody!
.
I am glad Rush says what I think.
I am glad Sean understands what I know.
I am glad that Glenns Red phone hasn't rung.
People that know me, also know other friends or family members that are in a local Tea Party. They know we are just American patriots. They know the truth about us. Rich can spew all the recycled bile he wants. It's still bile.
Good article.
God help us.
Frank WHO from the New York WHAT???? Kool-Aid much?
MMMmmmmmmmm MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
It simply must be ALL BUSH'S FAULT!!!
This is just another sign of Desperation from the Left ….and another LIE !
Lets look at George Soros and the projects he funds !
.
I can't wait till the ignorant trolls show up on this thread…
"God help us."
Dadio, HE DID……..yesterday………just wait and see!
We are renewed.
.
Yeah the left really are the ones that should talk about "sugar-daddies"….Soros..the greek tossed salad comes to mind..The left is all a bunch of sugar-daddies and mamas…code pinkish and the rest
I did not know the NYT was still in operation.
Oh no! They're onto us!
/sarc
A liberal lying about the Tea Party- what else is new?
The lefties will never get it. If I speak the truth, and you speak the truth, we will pretty much be saying the same thing as their is only one truth. But the lefties do not believe in absolute truth. They can't understand how we can be saying the same thing. It has to be coming from someone pulling the strings.
Witness before Christ Frank, bow to his righteousness and repent.
There is still time to save your wandering and doubting soul.
Screw Frank Rich. Why??? Cause I said so.
He evident-ally doesn't know, or understand diddle squat about grass roots America, and who really cares what leftist dopes like him think. The Tea Party Movement stands alone, and will be there for Americans come November, and 2012.
The only way Rich could right an attack piece is do one on the dim party and replace "dim" with "TEA party" during the final rewrite.
Warner writes:
"…there is no “the Tea Party.” There are hundreds of groups, all unconnected, all operating on their own hook with their own ideas, rules and hierarchies. In fact, this is the one draw back with the movement. There is at this time no reliable way to get them directed into a pointed and effective political force."
I humbly disagree. The Internet provides an electronic highway to almost every TEA party group nationwide. If one wishes to communicate, all one has to do is a google search. Bam. Now the information highway is open and information can be easily spread.
Frank is largely irrelevant and now he knows it. He thought he could "talk America down" from its insurrection against the false promise of liberalism and make us swallow the idea of a rich and powerful intellectual elite as being the dictators of social intercourse, policy and values in our country.
Yesterday he got his answer. His cause and group was preferred by 1 in 100 people who came to Washington. He's used to these kinds of numbers. About 1 in 500 Americans read his column. Evidently someone at Big Government has to be bribed and ordered to read it.
The rest of America evidently didn't get Frank's message.
Pity.
E pluribus unum
See all you liberals in November…but, only to say good-bye!!!!
More unsubstantiated mouth sewage masquerading as journalism.
Typical felon media product.
The sad thing that people like Rich does not realize is that there are millions of Americans who have never attended a Tea Party get together who never the less agree 100% with what they stand for.
Nov.2 is going to be a truly sad day for the leftys.
Love this….."these advocacy groups are like the 80-pound child taking his 200-pound dog for a walk. The kid may seem like the owner, but it is the big dog in control of where the walk ends up heading! The Tea Party is the 200-pound dog that neither AFP, nor Freedom Woks can control. These groups are the 80-pound kid holding on for dear life, trying to stay relevant in the minds of the Tea Party movement."
I would also add the Republican Party to the list as another group that is struggling to remain relevant. After years of politicians blowing us off, we've managed to get our hands on the reins through the Tea Party. Now all we have to do is hang on to them.
Amen!!!
To counter Mr Rich go here!!! http://bit.ly/cyML3l and I luv this "Progressives need a Palin" http://bit.ly/aIAUCo
They have Soros, they think WE need his equivalent to function…….is that SICK, or what?:-D
.
And morons like him wonder why they are losing their readers, I haven't bought a newspaper in ten years, the internet is great, I can now pick what I want to read, none of the newspapers here are worth reading, my local book store still doesn't have a copy of Going Rogue by Sarah Palin, I got my copy from amazon.com
i kinda wish obama would be dumb enough to pick up the red phone, then he would really unmask his stupidity for all to see, but i guess he is not quite that dumb.
EOD, comment of THE DAY !!!!!!!!!!
.
Either that or Rahm keeps slapping his hand away.
I have attended a few "parties" arranged by local Tea Party people. They are just that…PEOPLE! This frightens the progressive liberal organizations because there is not one entity to attack. Tea Party people are individuals who have a few common beliefs. Tea Party people are American People. Obama and his sheep can attack us, but there are millions of us, not just one organization. They can't "kill" us all because we are too many. The principles we hold in common will never be destroyed!
I thought it was also interesting how Pelosi said that she "agrees with those who" want to discover the sources of funds for people who oppose the mosque.
That was a pure straw man argument, making it look like it wasn't her idea when it was entirely her idea. There IS NO funding for the people who oppose the mosque, just as there is no funding of The Tea Partly Movement.
Rich is one of those guys who causes me to dive for the remote whenever he comes on TV. Can't mute him fast enough.
If the old boy repubs continue to ignore the TEA party, they will find themselves lost in the wilderness. Yep, they definitely have the bucks, but we have the vote. And we, the people, can make all the difference at the polls.
Hey, folks, make sure you vote on 2 Nov. Take a few friends with you while you're at it. Even check with neighbors or some elderly to see if they could use a ride. We need every vote we can get to derail the dims. also help out with anyone who needs to register to vote.
“the sugar daddies who are bankrolling it, and have been doing so since well before the ‘death panel’ warm-up acts of last summer.”……..frank rich
Hilarious coming from a leftwing apparatchik whose entire party has been bought off by a billionaire: George Soros. The 5 richest senators are democrats. Leftwing propaganda outlets such as Media Matters are funded by Soros. The party of the rich elites is the democrat party. No working American should ever vote democrat.
SsC………..I just have to tell you, I smile and chuckle every time you play the BUSH CARD.
Remember the days when we made long fact filled comments to argue for conservatism.
I guess our anger has finally boiled our thoughts down to their essence……..
.
If the TEA Party were funded and led from "the Top", then please tell me who the leader is?…….. Who's calling all of the shots?……… Right…… this writer is just full of sh*t and in desperation mode grabbing at straws looking for anything to stick. What a dip-sh*t.
I will believe Rich when he gets his chalk board out and shows the diagram.
What is funny is that Frank, typical of the left, thinks that the Tea Party is anti jobs like the left is, he thinks it is bad that the Tea Party would want job creating corporate America to benefit from the movement over the non job creator–federal government. He wants to rub it into the Tea Party that they are being duped by corporate America LOL—not at all Frank we like to work–
Mr. Rich is a pompous, arrogant elitist that still is so delusional to think we give a tinker's damn about what he has to say. Pathetic.
Those people just don't "get it", do they?
RWJordan writes: "I have attended a few "parties" arranged by local Tea Party people. They are just that…PEOPLE!"
That sounds just like this from 2002: "Ah you say, but isn’t Answer, like NION, linked to a Communist Party? Some are, however the national board has representatives from many groups and this local group, like NION, appears to genuinely accept and encourage anyone who wants to join and help. The roots of some members is a non-issue, in my opinion."
source: http://polizeros.com/2002/11/14/international-ans...
Instead of trying to smarten up useful idiots, I should be like Koch, Armey et al and try to profit from them.
Maybe they will begin to understand on November 3rd; until then I am glad they continue to intentionally misinterpret the facts (it has to be intentional – no one can be this stupid) We just need to keep the felons, illegals, and the dead from voting.
Sure they can be that stupid…just read the troll posts….
Kool-Aid?
OH YEAH!!!
What the left refuses to report today are the millions who couldn't attend the event who totally agree with its principle message and salivate at the thought of voting their progressive/socialist/Communist asses out in November. The Democrat party is history, and hopefully the MSM and the likes of Rich.
OH, and Frank Rich basically plagiarizing someone else's work, isn't that the history of the NY Times under the chief liberal in charge.
A whole new meaning of circle jerk
I'm surprised that it's the Kock brothers or Dick Armey. I was afraid they'd try to paint it as a construct of Darth Cheney and Haliburton.
Truth is to leftists what garlic is to werewolves. But at least the average female werewolf is more attractive than the average female leftist. And has less facial hair.
Mr. Huston:
"The left is frightened of you, folks. A look at the venom spewed at Glenn Back’s Restoring America rally is proof of the unhinged hatred that the left has for you. They cannot stand the idea that you are about to put the kabosh on their decades old plan to eliminate the America we grew up with and replace it with one unrecognizable to a patriot."
That is probably the best line i have read here in the past year, from anyone. It needs to be carved in granite somewhere.
Thank you.
So, when are the Koch brothers sending me my check?
They really need to put a head on this snake so they can chop it off. Too bad they don't understand that this isn't a snake. There is no head. What it is is a raw manifestation of a large percentage of pissed off populace.
Thanks now I have to brush my teeth
"I will believe Rich when he gets his chalk board out and shows the diagram. "
Personally, I'd settle for the coroner drawing a chalk outline around Rich.
Semper Fi
I KNOW VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER, BUT THERE ARE A FEW PEOPLE LIKE RICH WHO DESERVE A GOOD OLD FASHION ASS WHIPPIN! YOU NOW WHAT I MEAN…..KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO THEM!
The real value of the Tea Parties is that they are local, they are hungry and they know how to use technology.
We no longer rely on CBS News to tell us what happened. There are hundreds of sources with information about candidates, legislation and campaign funding.
Elected officials and candidates have blown their corks with the tape running because voters ask tough questions. The answer, "Trust me," doesn't work any longer.
Big machines like ACORN and SEIU have been discredited as being heavy-handed, corrupt and out-of-touch with the voters.
So far the GOP has botched their efforts to make friends with the Tea Party. The best they can do is hope their candidate can appear more conservative than a Blue Dog or an Independent.
Meanwhile, Tea Party groups are analyzing and sifting through the candidates individually, not by party label.
Frank Rich is and always has been a Big, Dumb Fool !
Time to change your diapers-
you big, lying crybaby
and get ready for a bigger MESS, come November…
You & your NYSlimes has been stinkin' up the country for way too long !
Well my friend OCP, the way I view the message boards and blogging is quite simple. Tell the damn trolls that we know Bush was not perfect. Save them the effort of reminding us of that so they can spill more of the spleen venting poisons they are so full of. Ever wonder why so many Democrats have brown eyes???? I have the idea they need a really good cathartic.
I've posted this concept before but it's worth repeating in the context of anything written by Rich: The only good use for the NYT is kindling for your fireplace. When I dropped my subscription two years ago, I found I got great exercise and fresh air while I picked up FREE twigs outside from nearby woods. And it's much better for the environment than funding the elitist anti-American Democratic sycophants and mouthpieces at the NYT. All the news that's fit to burn, not print.
I am a proud member of our local Tea Party and what "Rich"(Poor values) doesn't get is we fund are selves
There is no out side money in our party
Frank Rich = Dweeb!
And they should be frightened!
You know I have a brother-in-law that still thinks 9/11 was an inside job
Some times stupid is just that STUPID
Now that's funny right there, I don't care who you are.
Did you just hear that sound the past 24 hours?
It was the sound of the left collectively shytting their drawers…………
Silver, garlic is for Vampires
AMEN!!
ah… right you are…. oh well…. werewolves probably don't like garlic anyway.
In the immortal words of Ron White: "You caint fix stupid."
Anymore, why even try? What is the point? Leave them alone, they are cheap entertainment.
Tell your brother-in-law that 9/11 was an inside job. Muhammed Atta was inside the cockpit.
My my are the trolls resting today….Joe of Pewter…..Bop huskey
"……and has less facial hair"…………ROTFLOL, ……gooooo MSM,………HA HA HA HA HA HA
.
I invite corporate America to the Tea Party, we can use the muscle to fight Crime Inc and all the green job and smart grid lottery winners that give back a portion of their bounty to the single political party system. I invite the corporate America that helped build this country to join in the fight to restore America–like Intel and Target–are corporations perfect citizens, not likely, but I would prefer to stand with corporate American job creators than I would with big government wealth destroyers.
Like MLK I am pro jobs!
Like a wounded raccoon the MSM is in it's death throes…and like birth pangs with nothing but air.
MSM credibility Zero and by their own making…
They better get BO to bail them out before November…We will show them too big to fail after that.
Does anyone really READ Frank Rich?? Except of course his fellows at the Treason Times. (complete disclosure: I subscribe to the Sunday Times to keep track of what the enemy is up to – as I read this tripe I came to see that Frank Rich was right: The Koch's are wealthy and contribute to conservative and libertarian causes. The Tea Party supports conservative and some libertarian causes. And what does one have to do with the other??)
After spending far too much time in the dark reviewing Broadway, Mr Rich must be suffering from the growth of mushrooms in his brain; it's the only logical explanation.
He is pretending that the Tea Party movement is like the liberals movements funded by Soros.
I must have missed my check in the mail.
Dick Army gathering for massive Circle Jerk, culminating in a huge Clusterfu¢k.
Frank Rich is a former theater critic with putty for brains.
How can anyone one the left ignore George Soros and the 100 million per year he pays to fund all the sociaIist organizations?? Tides foundation, Center for American Progress, media matters, etc.
Frank Rich is a marxist tool.
.
"A look at the venom spewed at Glenn Back’s Restoring America rally is proof of the unhinged hatred that the left has for you. They cannot stand the idea that you are about to put the kabosh on their decades old plan to eliminate the America we grew up with and replace it with one unrecognizable to a patriot."
Thanks Mr. Huston, for a great article. That venom and hatred you mention is the reason that I have personally now taken a self-defense class, so that when the thugs come at me, I'll be ready. If it's them or me, THEY ARE GOING DOWN!
Hoorah
I agree. The Tea Party is organizing over backyard fences, at the supermarket, and via email. My next door neighbor helps keep us informed of events. We talk about what is going on at my ladies' club meeting and at church events (NOT in church. We wouldn't want to be accused of that greatest of all evils – mixture of church and politics). the Tea Party people are just normal people who have a work ethics, morals, work and save and try to do what is right. They believe in helping others as long as the others make true attempts to help themselves – and they don't want to be forced to support those who don't want to take any resposibility for their own lives.
"No working American should ever vote democrat."
and the Democrats know that.
Thats why they make sure their are less and less "working American(s)."
Frank Rich is one of the main drivers of the Obama Clown Car….
Which is now on the wrong side of the street (American people), racing downhill (Obama's popularity vanishing), and into a tree ( the Nov election)…..
After which, Rich will tell the sycophantic base that it's not Obama fault…"W" cut the hydraulic line on the Clown Car break system causing the crash….
Good luck with that….pinheads…
Aimed at a big photo of Dear Leader!
In the cesspool occupied by this piece of slime, he is indistinguishable from all the other scum the passes itself off as journalists. No one reads or cares.
Let the MSM underestimate the crowds. Let the MSM lie. This is a strategic advantage for conservatives. We can correct history later. The lower the "importance" on the MSM, the higher the turnout on the conservative side, the lower the turnout on the Marxist side. They won't know what hit 'em 'cause they have been in denial all along.
What, Frank Rich still has a job? Oh yeah, the old dead byatch still hasn't filed for bankruptcy.
Who's funding all the lefty sites organizations and foundations dedicated to progressive ideas – George Sorros the head of the snake – Rich is a hypocrite and it just proves once again that the very group who espouse tolerance, diversity, and moral superiority are at best a bunch of FASCIST intolerant and out of touch with American values and principals.
Progressives are so arrogant condescending and of course smarter than all of us.
PROGRESSIVISM = TOTALITARIANISM
We are the great silent majority no more. We are the Libertarians who have been voting for our beliefs for 35 years. We are the Religious who love our beliefs and honor our country. We are the vets 25 to 90 who have stood by and wondered how we could stop the carnage against our Country and Constitution without resorting to civil war. We are the neighbor and the local clerk in the party store and we are the Dr. nurse, Lawyer and Salesman, teacher, farmer and small business owners. We are every race and creed and We are The Tea Party Patriot movement and we are America. And we are going to take back our country and OUR Constitution from the Elite Ruling Criminal Class.

November 2 is coming. Believe it.
Is Frank Rich the absolute WORST liberal commentary writer? Certainly he would be in the running. He appears to do little or no research, and bases his writing upon cocktail party conversation of the evening before. Only now am I beginning to understand the guy. Apparently, he was a theater or movie reviewer? Now he does this. Perhaps it is a bit like Keith Olbermann. These guys get into "journalism" or "broadcasting" via some route where very limited technical competence and understanding is needed. Sure they "know" their area. Rich probably knows acting and blocking and screenplay writing and so forth. Olbermann may have decent sports knowledge (I've heard this disputed, but I have so little sports knowledge I cannot judge). Then they enter political commentary. Why? Are there no better political commentators?
My theory is that they are reliable political operatives once signed up by their employers. The idea is to find someone who does not know enough to actually QUESTION things. Put Frank in there. He won't question our routinely hard left position on the news. Or put Keith on his own show. He is not inquisitive enough to question our copy. He will deliver it with venom. At least that is the way it looks to me.
Do you notice how she does not mention ANYONE who are "those who want to discover". My guess is that no one actually exists who were communicating to her. It is just like Nancy Pelosi to make the whole thing up. Isn't this the same Pelosi who walked through protesting crowds carrying an enormous Gavel, just because she seemed to think that might cause an outburst and embarass her political opponents?
Exactly. The Tea Party Movement are large and spread out groups, with no central command. However, all have the same core principles of:
Tea Party 101 for government
* Be open and honest;
* Speak truthfully;
* Listen to and work for the people;
* Adhere to the Constitution and your oath of office;
* Support smaller government;
* Lower taxes.
You and THOUSANDS of others have testified that this is a purely populist movement with no funding from "right wing conspiracy", wealthy benefactors. And, thousands have coroborated that no racism is occurring at the rallies, unless it is supplied by liberal plants. Again, thousands have articulated and proved that this is just a movement which wants what it says it wants.
This is all just political babble. We should be familiar with it by now. It was at a crescendo during the election of 2008. It was like this even during various "issue" periods during the various predecessor administrations. I remember it was like this when "W", and McCain and so on were supporting various "paths to citizenship" (I do not call it amnesty, because I reserve that for solutions involving little or no punishment, or cost). Does everyone remember the switchboard on the Hill being shut down? I certainly do.
Thing to do is to ignore people like this. Make sure to network and get out the vote for November, and regardless of what cost, or how awkward, be sure to vote in November 2010. This is going to be a momentous occasion. This is a referendum on current administration policies, and that is REGARDLESS of what commentators like Rich, Stephanopolous, etc. try and say to change that.
Some economic terms defined for average folk.
A Recession: When your neighbor loses his job.
A Depression: When you lose your job.
Economic Recovery: When Obama loses his job.
No funding, because the truth is free.
There is no question that she made it up. That is the tactic of leftists; Media Matters makes something up and it is picked up by ABC et al who say 'our sources say' and then MM re picks it up by saying that "ABC reports…."

Rich is just a spoiled brat who wrote one of the most assine books every published, "What happened to Kansas" and now he considers himself an insider. "Useful Idiot" is a more apt descrition of this bozo trying to remain relevant in an industry that has disgraced itself to the point that Americans outside the Washington, New York cocktail circuit consider them jokes.
The progressives don't understand this phenomena because all their "movements" and protests are astroturf.
From Antiwar, women's lib, kent state, and the Sharpton ralley all managed by leftists with manufactured rage. Bolstered by the media and union membership.
Also foreign to them is that people would pay their own way to events rather than ride on union paid busses.
They don't realize yet that they have taken on the people that make things run.
It has been more than a decade…more like a century with different players.
