VP Biden Says Obama Plans to ‘Control Insurance Companies’

Tapper asked VP Biden what he’d been hearing from the members of the Democrat Congress that are vulnerable over this healthcare debate and Biden’s reply let slip the administrations ultimate goal; full government control of the insurance industry. (My bold)
BIDEN: Well, I yes. Some of them I say they say, well, Joe, look, man, I mean, you know, you guys haven’t massaged this very well. And, you know, this thing has gone on so long, I don’t know. And my response is, hey, man, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I’m telling you, you know, pre-existing, they’re going to be covered. You know we’re going to control the insurance companies.
Granted Joe Biden is the court jester of the Obama Administration. He is a fool of the highest order. It would be easy to dismisshis words. However, the idea that Obama wants to take full federal control of the insurance industry fits quite nicely with Obama’s claims as a candidate — that he was for a single payer plan all along.
Barack Obama fully intends to destroy the health insurance industry and replace it with a socialist nationalized healthcare program.
Call your representatives in Congress and tell them to vote “no” on this un-American legislation.

I appreciate the sentiment of your comment but strongly object to the government TELLING private companies how much profit they can make. It is precisely the govt. intervention into health care that causes the prices to rise. They will also be the reason the quality will decline. Get the govt. out of the health care business, get congress to remove the anti-trust provisions and let free market forces prevail. In every case and in every part of our economy, it is comeptition that keeps prices in check.
My theory is that Obama and Biden just found running the banks and the car industry boring. Maybe they will find running the insurance companies ( and the medical schools … and the hospitals … and the drug companies … ) more stimulating!

When Obama decided to act as a third term of Bush and increase troops twice to Afghanastan and continue the quagmire in Iraq (we will never leave by the way, all "non-combat" troops will stay, see S. Korea), and continue Bush's TARP bailouts, he raised taxes, they just have not been collected yet.

insurance companies will lose money – yes, LOSE, or they will have to raise the premiums so high
that no one can afford them.

the insurance companies will either need a bailout by the federal government, and the feds will step in
as owners (as with some of the car companies), OR the feds will just "take control" in order to keep costs
