Terrorists at Fla. Atlantic U Are O.K., Young Americans for Freedom VERBOTEN
by Warner Todd HustonWe send our young adults to university to be educated in the ways of the world, we all know. Following that well-worn path, young James Schackleford decided on the publicly funded Florida Atlantic University for his edification and boy did he learn a lesson about modern education last week. Mr. Schackleford learned that the FAU administration prefers its campus Islamic terrorist supporters over representatives of the conservative Young Americans for Freedom organization. He also learned that it’s open season on all conservatives at our American universities.
At the Boca Raton campus Mr. Schackleford determined that his school needed a chapter of YAF, a 40-year-old conservative student organization, and so gathered a few like-minded students to meet with YAF State Director Daniel P. Diaz to discuss how they should proceed on organizing a chapter in the school.
As the few gathered were meeting, university administrator David Blank* burst into the room and demanded that they cease their meeting and vacate the room. According to the YAF press release, Mr. Schackleford asked for an additional 15 minutes to finish and Blank acquiesced to the request. But the 15-minute grant was short lived.
Upon hearing Diaz address the liberal bias on the FAU campus, Blank stopped the meeting again and boorishly ordered the students to vacate the meeting room. Blank the shut off the room lights, tore down the group’s promotional posters, and called the campus police.
It didn’t end there. According to YAF, the campus police arrived and began to harass the students and Mr. Diaz outside as they were in the process of leaving the campus. The police demanded to see student IDs and then menacingly followed YAF rep. Diaz to his car.
Police told Diaz that they were investigating a “possible trespassing charge,” and then loudly joked that Diaz “probably had tea bags hanging out the back of his car” as Diaz prepared to leave.
Diaz says that the whole incident is proof positive of why a conservative group is needed at Florida Atlantic University.
“If we were a Marxist, Socialist or Liberal group they would have let us finish our meeting, but the university officials and police harassed us because we are conservatives. This was the exact liberal bias on campus that I was discussing in the meeting that these future YAFers experienced firsthand. The university is no longer a place of open discussion and freedom of expression, but a breeding ground of intolerance for conservative beliefs.”
One question immediately comes to mind over this incident: did student organizer Schackleford and YAF representative Diaz officially reserve a room at FAU for their informal meeting? I asked Diaz this very question.
Diaz told me that since it was an informal meeting that should have been over rather quickly, Mr. Schackleford did not think that he needed to officially reserve a room through the university staff. In fact, according to Diaz, himself a former FAU student, such unscheduled meetings occur all the time.
No we did not reserve a room. When I was a student at the university when a room wasn’t being occupied one could go in and meet or study, and as long they left before the next scheduled group arrived they would be ok. After asking around that is how it still is.
In retrospect it was an obvious lapse in judgment not to officially reserve a room. Or perhaps they should have met off campus.
However, that small lapse in judgment does not absolve this oppressive, over-the-top reaction that university administrator David Blank exhibited. After all, not long ago Florida Atlantic University hosted a whole slew of Islamic terror supporters on campus. In 2006, for instance, the Muslim students group at FAU hosted an event at which appeared Hamas and Hezbollah supporter, Al-Haaj Ghazi Khankan; alleged Neo-Nazi, William Baker; and potential co-conspirator of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, Siraj Wahhaj.
Apparently it’s perfectly O.K., as far as the FAU administration is concerned, to have Islamofascist terror given full-throated support on its campus but it is a serious no-no to talk about organizing a patriotic American conservative student’s organization there.
Perhaps Mr. Diaz is right in his contention that a YAF chapter is sorely needed at Florida Atlantic University?

Makes me sick to know this stuff goes on and we never hear about it.. Thanks for the report Warner, keep up the good work.
Sounds like FAU just loves the "blow up your junk for jihad" crowd!
This crap has to stop!
TAKE BACK THE KIDS IN 2010!
I agree, Missy. Take back the kids before they actually start voting! Or, send them to President Reagan's alma mater, Eureka College! The student body is primarily conservative, and they don't discriminate on the basis of ideology.
Where is BIGEDUCATION? It's needed now more than ever.
This kind of stuff happens all the time on our universities. If one does not tow the party line, one is dismissed, ignored or harassed. Many of my fellow conservative academics keep their mouth shut, and know the words to say to please they system. Me, I got a big mouth and always went against authority types (ya, I am a Joan Jett wannabe), so I take the hits and keep coming back with facts that the kids never heard of. ;0) Much fun, also very heartbreaking some times.
College and University faculty and staff are hostile to conservatives or any other group that believe in America the way it was founded. They are delusional in all of their bazaar ideologies and splinter groups/factions.
Why? None of it can stand the light of logic, reason and objective analysis. They fear the truth because it will destroy their carefully constructed world of contradictions and evasions.
They hate capitalism because they understand in the deepest recess of their shallow minds that they would be totally powerless and abject failures in a system that requires honesty and accountability.
Big University? How about it Andrew?
Im "HOPEY" That the administration can "CHANGEY" that policy!
Yes where is it? We are anxiously awaiting the launch!!! Let's get rolling…get the vids out and put some sunlight on the subject (sorry about that line…lol)…
This is the way my university was when I was going to school in the early 90's and I went to school in the deep south. I can only imagine how much worse it has gotten since then. It's time for the BIGEDUCATION site.
thanks for this great article…..good job,
but to see how all this is playing out around the world with a clear Global startegy and well executed tactics….just check out the "World Socialists" website below, and read all the similar articles….

Does anyone remember that writing, not sure where i heard it, something about freedom of assembly?
/s
forgot to also add this artcile — everyone should read this today — to see where they plan to take things, taken right off the "World Socialist" website above…print the below article and keep for a reminder….

It is definitely time for Big Education and Big Justice
When I attended FAU it was joked to stand for 'Find Another University'. Some things won't change till the ratio of libs in university jobs comes closer to that of the general population.
read this one….

Watch for the meeting arrainged by "channels" to be disrupted by open minded progressive students exercising their free speech, between the tv series Campus Cops and these stories I'm reluctant to send my child to a state university.
Thanks for the article Warner. It is apparent that our country is being attacked from within and not only in our government but in our schools also !!
These progressive/ socialist and islamic terror groups need to be purged from our shores !!!!
Great Idea. We really need to focus on the last unchallenged bastion of the Progressive GANG OF FOUR (Hollywood/Government/Jounalism/Education) which keeps the stranglehold on American culture.
Back to you, Andrew! May I suggest Tom Sowell for Executive Editor?
This story hits home for me. I personally graduated from FAU in 1989. I can remember being one of the few conservative minded students back then, and although I was in the minority, I can't remember anyone attacking me the way they are attacking this student.
I am saddened to hear what's become of my school. Once upon a time, it was still a pretty positive place to be. Unfortunately, its decline seems to reflect the same decline that Washington is trying to force on the entire country.
This is what we call free speech, Democrat style.
Universities are the breeding ground for prog thought. They have become little bastions of groupthink for over thirty years now and we have slumbered in our awareness of this. I am grateful that I homeschooled our children and now that they are done with their University educations, they are shedding quite readily their progressive indoctrination. The Educational system must be cleansed of groupthink…and once again start teaching critical thinking, History, and Civics….
I hope we are not to late….
"None of it can stand the light of logic, reason and objective analysis."
So true my friend, so true!
Me thinks this is a non-issue. This group should have reserved a room. There would be no issue had they done so. We haven't heard from the university. What is their policy? Do they require reservations? Have they removed others for not having them? Just some things to consider.
Remember, we are now dealing with second and third generation radicals. (first generation were the 60's radical students, 2nd generation were students of the 60's radicals who became professors, now we have public education indoctrinated students attending universities filled with the 2nd generation radicals)
The big question is, will there ever be at least a balance at the universities? I don't believe so, because during the interview process, and certainly once someone comes onboard a tenure-track position, if they don't tow the party line, they will either not be hired in the first place, or will not receive tenure.
My daughter attends Eureka and the student body is not primarily conservative and the faculty is split. My daughter takes on lib professors daily. Some of those professors are beyond liberal, and one is being sued for discrimination and slander. They also require a Darwinism class to graduate that is a bash religion class.
You can easily dismiss anything that has this little kernal:
5. One hundred years ago, in 1910, the world capitalist system stood on the brink of the most devastating crisis in history. Apart from the most perceptive and far-sighted Marxist theoreticians of that period—particularly Lenin, Trotsky and Luxemburg—there was hardly to be found a political thinker who imagined that the second decade of the new 20th century would witness the upheavals of war and revolution.
to call the murderous Lenin and Trotsky "perceptive and far-sighted" destroys any credibility that may have existed.
Terrorists at Fla. Atlantic U Are O.K., Young Americans for Freedom VERBOTEN by Warner Todd Huston:
America, WAKE-UP! YOU voted for a MARXIST that wants to fundamentally change the way that you live! Hint! He doesn't even LIKE YOU, AMERICA! Tip: You have seen no Terror, yet! It's all about you! Vanity is over!
Liberals are rapidly going down the road of fascism. There will be no turning back once they reach the end of that road.
Did Meghan Mc Cain go there?
When I attended FAU I had to take a class called "Social Change" as part of my degree program.
I sat in a class of fifty or so students and listened to marxist spew coming from that professor.
And I tortured that man's arguments in nearly every class. But I did it by using humor and common sense, until by the end of the semester the entire class just laughed at this professor's positions.
It's sad to think that if I were doing the same thing today I'd likely be led away in handcuffs.
Might want to rely on better sources than "http://www.militantislammonitor.org" – they are just a bigotted organization like SPLC. Why aren't you complaining that FAU has a myriad of organizations for non-Whites but not any for Whites?
I call for the resignation of FAU university David Blank, who has committed premeditated tyranny against a specific group of students who were doing nothing but peacefully assembling– BLANK MUST GO! BLANK MUST GO! BLANK MUST GO!
Lolo, I don't argue … in principle … with anything you have said. However, Eureka is "conservative" simply because there ARE conservative professors and students. Also, the Darwinism class that you speak of is a State-mandated course (and we shouldn't underestimate the effect of the North Central Association, when it comes to required courses).
Mark, I can tell you that this is not a non-issue. I graduated from this U, and I still know my professors. If you had any idea how militant that campus had become, you would understand that this is not some isolated incident, but part and parcel of a very radicalized administration.
You can have your opinion, but I know what's happening there.
We did a "Victims of Illegal Aliens" display at Elgin Community College (Illinois) in May of 2008.
If you follow the rules they can't deny you the right to meet. If they do, they become the bad guys.
Expect some apoplectic faculty members and some media attention, but demand that they hear your side.
But you have to follow the rules or they'll bounce you on a technicality.

"They hate capitalism because ……….. they would be totally powerless and abject failures"
Not to mention that they would also be unemployed.
If we can start getting rid of the libs from the top down, then abolish the dept. of edu. giving that power back to the states, defund the teachers unions, we may have a chance to get our childrens education back on the right track!!!!
Are there any American History majors at FAU?
As is typical of today's university atmosphere I've no doubt that this school's staff is as progressive as they come. With that said The Young Americans should know that going in and should have planned accordingly. All I'm saying is they wouldn't have been kicked out if they had dotted all of the i's and crossed all of the t's. We need to be smarter than the statist. We should always do our homework to make sure that the left can make no inroads to hamper getting the word out. Always watch your back… keep your eyes going from side to side… the progressives are waiting to pounce. Never give them a chance.
Now… if the faculty is not being consistant in the employment of the room usage policy they would have a case. This evidence wasn't presented in the posting however.
agree 100%….but this is the global crap being fed into many of our schools in the US, read the whole website and check out where they get their funding…. we must defend against this crap from being taught…….just saying
Ummmmmm.. PARENTS ! ! Do you know where your childen are ?
And this is at the so called "university" level of acedemics. Are you aware that this is going on in your ELEMENTARY and INTERMEDIATE schools as well ?? You OWE it to your children to protect them from these perverted, demented socialists. Get going ! NOW !
I agree completely Mark. We need to be smarter than the militant "progressives." It just makes me sick that my own alma mater has become such an "educational" gulag. It wasn't like that when I attended.
I don't know what the local political situation is, but University Police usually derive much of their authority from being deputized by the local sheriff. I would think that such blatantly political abuse of power would be grounds to challenge any such deputization. It could also be used against the sheriff in the next election should he elect to stand by the University Police.
I think you are right.
i work in public higher ed….and i think we are too late.
I fear this too…your words make my heart sink.
There days are numbered come November the tide will turn and we will vote out the dems. Then we can turn our attention to the lavish university budgets. Let the hack saws come out and let's start firing them all.
She's the Dean of Student Activities.
When I went on my 15 year renovation of my house, I should have started in the basement,,…I now have a….
big roomy family room down there,……but the kids are all grown up now………
Big Government is a welcome place,…..but maybe Andrew should have started with,…….
Big Education.
One election isn't even going come close stopping this Progressive cancer.
Thanks for the article Huston. Unfortunately this kind of stuff happens all the time at our schools/universities. Recently in grad school for nutrition, I was subjected to anti-conservative, anti-Bush rantings by multiple professors in multiple nutrition classes–classes that obviously had nothing to do with politics. More instances than I can count. This is the environment at our universities now (and most of our schools, regardless of the level), and just continues to get worse and worse. It's a breeding ground almost exclusively for progressive thought… or..ahem.. "thought". Tough to change that environment when the teachers and administrators are overwhlemingly liberal… We'll have to find a way. AB should consider BigEducation..

I worry about my kids get abducted on the street, like those poor kids in the San Diego area. Now I have to worry about my kids' minds get abducted in schools by these political thugs. I think us parents should demand surprise audit of classes anytime we choose, and see course materials Before each school year.
They have twisted ting for years and it will take years to un-twist. This is a great example of how these progressives think it is better to not offend the people that want to kill infidels. Just remember that most of our professors now a days believe in the perfect utopia. These people get to spew their views uncontested in the university class rooms, it is time for this to stop and these people be held accountable for the damage they are doing the future generations of this country.
Did you pay attention to the part about no one else being required to reserve rooms? Or the part about others are /not/ kicked out for not booking rooms?
"What you are teaching has nothing to do with repaying my student loans."
And sue for "breach of contract".
What the f**k is wrong with this story? Students at school are threatened by a faculty member and then by police and they run. Alinsky's laughing from his hole in the ground. This is precisely why the right will lose this war, because they will not stand up and fight. Next time just piss your pants, maybe they'll feel sorry for you losers.
Mark I just hope you dot your i's and cross your t's consistently as well.
Folks do have a way of ignoring the parts that do not fit well with their notions
where pray tell is the YOUTUBE video of this politcal harassment?? I would love to see the Barney Fife campus cops waddling along demanding to see ID's from the tresspassors. next time have a hidden camera or two and get some good shots of suspected abuse of authority and get it onto the web.
sunlight kills bacteria too.
Harsh but well said.
Why run? Move the meeting to a hallway, common area, or a parking lot. but don't run and don't back off.
I hope Mike Adams picks up on this, he'll have that school in court.
If the students would like to consider transferring to another University, check out http://www.oru.edu/. We don't have a YAF chapter, but I'm pretty sure you would not get that reaction if you tried to open one here!
What do you assume my notions might be?
I do indeed try to. In my line of work I have to be consistant, polite, firm and correct. When I slip up I usually look the fool and, depending on the seriousness of the offense, could suffer disciplinary actions. For this reason I am always alert and follow the rules. I try to keep emotion out of it. If you go back and read the article it seems well laced with highly emotional charges. We always need to take a step back and digest a bit of our circumstance before acting. With practice comes consistancy.
Wasnt this the same campus that Sami Al -Arian taught at?
That you are giving the storm troopers that kicked these students out the meeting room one hell of a pass.
You seem like an intelligent person and your sounding so naive does not jive with my perception.
My opinion is that it was the agenda of the meeting that precipitated the actions of these university goons.
I know it and you too know it,…. I'm sure we have both been around the block enough times to,….
recognize what went down here.
WE WILL WIN! We can be assured of this because the Bible promises "a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. Jesus instructed us to pray for God's kingdom to come and His will to be done here on earth just as it is in heaven. I don't know how rough it will get, but I do know fire (natural or spiritual?) will devour the wicked. One thing for sure, we must re-define ourselves as a Christian nation and we cannot allow "other gods" in our country. We must boldly proclaim our Christian heritage even if it hair-lips the devils. We'll have to cleanse our nation like Jesus cleansed the temple.
We do not need "balance" in our schools. We should never "balance" anything with our enemies. We should kick their butts completely out of our country. If we compromise, we loose. That's what's wrong in Washington, we're trying to balance good and evil. We send our kids to school to learn the truth and only the truth. They do not need a leftist education at all – half left, half right. ALL those on the left need to be deported to their favorite facsist country without exception. They do not belong here. We are a Christian nation. Not half Christian, half pagan.
How were we so blind as to let the progressives get such a stronghold in our institutions of higher learning? Or K-12 for that matter.
No. That was the University of South Florida (USF)

It took me about 2 minutes to find this:

(and it took that long because some of the other toys were distracting)
$160 for a pen camcorder that runs for 2hrs per charge.
My daughter is currently attending a local community college. She has 2 instructors that spend more time telling the students how evil America has been than teaching. She speaks her mind and the one instructor just tells her there is nothing she will get out of the class today and tells her she's welcome to leave, and she does. I wonder what her grades will be. We need to take this country back from the enemy within….
I went back to school as a 47 year old conservative looking for a degree in education. More then one teacher I went up to after the first class and told them "I am conservative, is this going to be a problem for me?" Stopped the rants right there, they knew they couldn't push me around. Unfortunately in the sciences I ran into fellow students who had drank the AGW koolaid and I couldn't even get them to look at other data. I do admire the teachers in the geology department though, didn't dare say it was BS but refused to confirm it either.
To turn back at this point would be to admit they were wrong from the start. I never expect them to do that Lolo.
I am a FAU alumni who is not surprised by this bile. What I would have done was filmed this and posted it on Youtube. My favorite story from a class there dealt with some Multicultural education course in which the professor would talk about how wonderful Cuba is. I retorted that it was so wonderful that people risk their lives on rafts to come to the U.S. Another one was on his diatribe against the death penalty in the U.S. and how expensive it was. I retorted that we should do the death penalty the way the Soviets did it by shooting someone and sending the bill to the family for the bullet. Too funny!
Are there any American History COURSES at FAU??????
Amen sista! I know it is coming and I feel like this is possibly the time…but I admit I worry about the crap that is coming with the end times. Its not gonna be pretty…till its done… ;^)
I know a few things that would be a good start, but they'd get you talked about.
I couldn't help myself and emailed the thoughtless Uni Admin. David Blank dblank@fau.edu and gave him a piece of my mind as well as the link to the article. It doesn't change anything, but it makes me feel a little better.
If they are not teaching the subjects they were hired to teach, she should bring the matter to the attention of the administration–but get some allies first.
What part of Boca Raton didnt you guys notice? Boca Raton is crawling with liberals. Did you expect different? This is the same place that flipped out over George Bush in the elections. Nothing liberals do surprise me. To heck with Florida Atlantic send your kid elsewhere. Mine are christian as well as conservative they are really gonna be ridiculed but I am trying to prepare them for it. I am going to pick as conservative college as I can afford and send them to it. They will have Jesus and the Constitution. They should need nothing else.
It is always the same operating mode for the leftist. They will ALWAYS call for shutting down of the opposition's rights of free speech and assembly. Emotional rants are more to their liking. Thye will always lose in the arena of ideas.
What it means is more of us on this board need to take to the educational system and teach.
There will be squabbles but the hypocrisy of the left's intolerance will show it's self over and over when challenged.
If we all believe this is a fight to win then we need to make the sacrifice and engage where the battle is being fought.
No it won't but we can put a roadblock in the way of this commie BS…
We need to start having more parents involved in investigating this BS as advocates for their kids "education" to expose the deluded indoctrination policies of the radicals on college campuses.
There is one of the reasons that are country is in such bad shape, to many parents do not take a serious interest in what their children are being taught. It is not up to other people to make sure our children are being taught the values and principles that are needed to survive in this world, it is up to us parents to teach our children.
The Constitution didn't slow them down' and I'd expect them to drive around the quaint notion of representative government. They're acting like the fix is in and they plan on winning this race.
All we can do is encourage conservatives to vote at this point but we also need to really work harder on the message and expose them for what they are…
Communists…
The only way these vermin will go back in the woodwork, is when they are in fear for their lives.
Received my MA in History at FAU. Faculty is excellent. This story is BS…they did not reserve the room. Had they simply reserved the room they would have had no problem. FAU's past president was Republican Lt. Gov. under Jeb Bush, there is no liberal bias at FAU.
You are right, it is going to take more than one election to correct this cancer called progressive. But we need to start the fight some where and there is no better place to start then right now. The colonist only toke so much from Britain before they toke matters in their own hands, this is no different.
It would be great to see how these people react when there is less students for them harm with their progressive views. The only way we will get their attention is for the student enrollment to drop and the tuition to drop also.
Why aren't others kicked out for not reserving rooms? Do they get the lights turned out, threatened with the police, and harrassed off campus?
Who's money are those teachers stealing? She should stay and disrupt the propaganda, or force the prof to order her to leave.
Anyone who does not reserve a room would be asked to leave, and if you put up a fight I am sure they would ask the campus police to assist in removing you. This is completely a non-story full of one-sided BS. I am ashamed that my alma mater is being attacked for following basic policies. There are plenty of locations around campus where people can congregate and there are simple forms to fill out to reserve a room.
I agree totally!!!!!!!!!
So get off your butt conservatives out there – CONTRIBUTE to conservative causes, WRITE to everyone, TALK to your friends, family and neighbors and tell them the danger we are in, PARTICIPATE in conservative/tea party events, even in if it means travel, STAND UP to those who espouse liberal ideas especially in education, and finally AVOID?BOYCOTT mainstream media. Get with it – blogging ain't enough!
I would imagine that college administrators would take notice if attendance roles took a drop when good parents start to pull the plug on funding mediocrity and radicalism on campus…
The police at all Fl universities are actually state police with more jurisdiction than sheriffs, ie. state police have state-wide arrest powers. This story just represents how far the inroads have been made by the socialist/communist cabal into our schools. FAU was a nice conservative, commuter school when I attended in the 70s. I am in touch with the administration about this and if I don't receive a satisfactory explanation, I am personally paying a visit to the Higher Education Committees in the legislature. That will put the fear of God in them.
