Another Obama Gitmo Official Resigns: Who is Accountable Now?
by Warner Todd HustonEarlier this month President Obama fired Greg Craig, his main counsel on matters concerning the Guantanamo Bay Facility. And this week Obama sheds another one of his GITMO team with the resignation of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Defense for Detainee Policy, Phillip Carter.
It appears that Obama’s GITMO team is being systematically eliminated. One has to ask, why? The only real answer has to be that Obama is setting up some plausible deniability by firing or forcing the resignation of officials involved with GITMO policy. Once enough of these people are gone, Obama can look wide-eyed to the public and claim that he was badly served by his GITMO advisers and, therefore, it isn’t his fault.
Unfortunately for Obama the failure is not with the staff but with the chief himself, Obama.
Obama has allowed Attny Gen. Holder to reveal his utter ignorance by pushing for civilian trials of some GITMO detainees while at the same time arbitrarily denying such a privilege to others. Obama has also backed this plan despite that there is no precedent in American history for such trials.
And now the officials in charge of these decisions are being let go with no replacements announced, leaving mounting questions about just what the administrations policies are and who is responsible for carrying them out.
With Carter so unexpectedly gone, many questions remain unanswered about Obama’s detainee policy. Now, there is no one to answer these questions. By what legal authority does the administration hold some 75 detainees without civilian trials? On the other hand, what is the legal authority that some are getting civilian trials? How will these detainees that are getting civilian trials be secured and where?
In any case, it seems pretty obvious that Obama is getting rid of as many people on his GITMO policy team as possible so that he can claim that his failures are not his fault but are the failures of the departing team members. But will the American people buy this deception?

But don't forget, BHO continues his Illinois senatorial prowess by Voting "PRESENT" for trhe past 90 days, on his decision on the war in Afghanistan….he votes "PRESENT" on the ACORN investigation.. "PRESENT" on SEIU corruption and intimidation tactics, "PRESENT" on the economy and finding a way to creat new jobs.. "PRESENT" on helping small business. His idea of creating new jobs is adding staff at the WH. How many govt employees have been added since his election? Hmmm, he is quick to call a police officer "Stupid" then sit down for a beer… quick to acknowledge a Native American in audience, before he notes the terrorist attack at Ft. Hood… quick to praise SEIU, ACORN, AFL-CIO etc., as if they create jobs or capital to invest. He is quick to criticize all big business, most doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, oil companies, pharma companies, and in general, all Americans for using too much energy, houses too big, cars to fancy, and anyone that earns their own keep for spending what they make. BHO will continue to throw anyone under the bus that does not support his message or agenda. That's Chiacgo style politics at its best.
Obamao claims that he didn't sign off on anything and that Holder is acting on his own. Except for the fact that the AG doesn't have the authority to do what Holder's doing without the consent of the CinC. So it looks like Obamao will use Holder as another scapegoat if any of these jerks get off on a technicality. Obie will only take credit if the outcome enhances his image.

Not a bit surprised by this. Obammm has absolutely NO backbone. Just call him amoeba. Cannot make a decision, has czars do it for him. It does not work like that………Hussein may feel that his appointees severed him badly, We the People will view it as Hussein served us badly. Good move anyway, the Enemy Combatants need to remain at Gitmo.
Have the gitmo detainees over to the White House for a state dinner. I'm sure they'll pass muster with the secret service.
He can't scapegoat the last adminstration on this one. Bush didn't commit to closing Gitmo. He owns this one..
This is the point where this administration starts eating its own. This is where it gets fun. How many people are willing to fall on their sword for him without going public with insider details?
If Obama was a man, he would own up to it. But it's a pattern with him now. When ever something goes wrong, he can't admit he is wrong, he has to have the scapegoat. And the one that works best for the die-hard on the ledge lefties is GWB.
And there will always be people who agree with blaming Bush.

I didn't grow up there, I was a transplant & it amazed me how willing Illinois, NW Indiana & Southern Wisconsin puts up with this. I have asked many time "why?" & always got the same response "that is how we do it here", like they are proud of it. That's why I took early retirement from the department & moved.

This, again is Chicagoland politics at its best. You always have a fall guy & several layers of plausible deniability. It is amazing how many people will eat a bullet for this guy. Christ didn't have this many followers this loyal. The good side, people who practice in this type of politics tend to be extremely narcissistic & if their pay off for taking the the hit isn't to their liking, they turn on their masters so fast it will make your head spin. 11 months in & he has thrown so many under the bus already that not everyone will be getting a nice, comfy job or pay out, they are going to start turning on him in greater numbers. From articles I have read, I'm not sure it hasn't already started.
Could it be that these two people actually tried to do their jobs, and came to the unforgivable conclusion that Bush was right?

The failure at GITMO is all Obama and Holder no one else can be held accountable since they are the ones making the decisions for this trial. They are both wearing turbans in private.
It's Bushes' Fault! He is the one who established the Gitmo prison for people who should long ago have been shot. There should have been no problem helping these very dangerous animals meet allah and his 72 whores.
I think you treat them to helo rides about 10 at a time. see how many you can bring back. no water boarding little expense, very small prison. Me thinketh they would begin to talk on or around the time there were only 8 left in the helo.

And how about taking over two months to even look at the request for additional troups placed on his desk by his main military commander in Afganistan. Why are we taking prisoners??? Change the ROE (Rules of Engagement) and allow our troops to shoot AND kill anyone engaed in a battle against us. Don't worry about collateral damage. The world really doesn't care and they'll soon forget about it as soon as the next political or Hollywood scandal appears. Shoot to kill and let the vultures feed on their dead. If the Libs don't like this I recommend they be sent into battle first to discuss the issues with the enemy.
One can only hope that all the systemic corruption, incompetence and far-left ideology being exposed in the branches of our government as a result of the election of 2008 will, like an exploratory surgery exposing cancers and festering infections, lead to a massive and decisive rejection of the left and a return to rational republican (small "r") governance in America.

"Paterson also said that the White House warned him six months ago this very situation would happen."
Meanwhile (2 weeks ago) Eric Holder said he did not talk to the White House about this decision. (He talked to his wife and brother??) He just "informed" them.

There is apparently no part of the Obama regime that is not working overtime to flood and strain the system.
