Best Buy Ditches ‘Christmas’ But Celebrates Muslim Holiday in Fliers

It’s so “religious” and tinged with racism, America, and tradition. It makes Best Buy shudder to think of using that foul word, Christmas. But, advertising for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha? Heck, why not? What could be more welcoming and tolerant?
And so, Best Buy has issued a Thanksgiving sales flyer wishing all good multi-cultural, Muslim loving Americans a happy Eid al-Adha this year.
Don’t you feel your heart warming already? Isn’t your PC bone tingling with happiness? And aren’t you secretly gleeful that those rotten, evil, reactionary, hatemongering Christians are getting theirs… even if Christians do make up about 75 percent of the United States?
Well, let’s give Best Buy a hand for its politically correct sales flier excising that horrid Christmas nonsense and being enlightened enough to help us all convert to the “Religion of Peace.”
Thanks be it to Allah and Best Buy for helping us forget little things like the Khobar Tower bombing, the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Towers, the attack on the U.S.S. Cole, 9/11, or that silly little incident with Nidal Hasan at Fort Hood. It was but a trifle, after all.
In this happy Eid al-Adha season we can thank Best Buy for its sacrifice, too. For its sacrifice of America to its enemies, for the sacrifice of our traditions, religious principles, and culture to an alien, hostile ideology. We can thank Best Buy for helping organizations like CAIR to spread its message of cultural jihad.
Yes, thanks Best Buy for showing us how to be better “Americans.”
Now go ye forward and shop, America. Happy Eid al-Adha to everyone. And don’t let PETA stop you from buying that goat. And don’t mind us, folks. We are just committing cultural suicide is all.

I saw this and figured it was some photoshopped photo that got by. So I ran to look at my Best Buy ad – viola.
What in the hell are they thinking? The wife had ordered a couple of things via their website for the kids for Channukah. While we don't celebrate Christmas it is a Christian holiday – if it weren't for the holiday how many tv's would Best Buy sell? I guess we send the trinkets back to Best Buy because I didn't see Best Buy wishing the Jews a wonderful celebration.
Is the muslim population in the US even 1% of our population? Hey, has anybody ever noticed those motorcycle clubs with the 1% badges? Maybe our muslim population are 1%'ers too.

Every time I shop there my husband says "Dubai at Best Buy, AGAIN?? FRY'S is only a mile away, and their prices and selection are better." I just sent money to the VFW, thanking them for sending a calendar with NO Muslim or Mexican holidays. Call 1-888-BESTBUY to let them know what you think about their advertising policies.

They do recognize Christmas in their 2009 holidays video on Youtube – but you always have the option of price matching at WalMart – they've only opened up entire Muslim/Arabic themed stores in the US and negotiated price-fixing-like deals to ensure local Muslim businesses aren't forced out of business – and of course gives Muslims paid prayer times… or you could go to Target where Muslims enforce sharia law on the infidels and do not handle pork products… and if you are using a Bank of America card, or invested in S&P, or buy your gas from…yeah the list goes on and on and on and on… and so our president wishes Muslims Happy Eid before wishing Happy Thanksgiving and the transformation is in full swing…

Last time I was at a museum, it occurred to me that the most ridiculous example of the anti-Christian slant of political correctness, in my opinion, is the "Common Era" dating system, where "BC" is replaced with "BCE," and "AD" is replaced with "CE." All it is is a name change, the CE dates start exactly where the AD dates start – namely, roughly the year of the birth of Christ. "AD" or "Anno Domini," which is "in the year of our Lord," makes the origin of the convention clear. Changing the name just obscures that historical origin. So we've got historians intentionally obscuring the historical origin of a common convention for reasons of political correctness – it's crazy.
One would think it would only be good business practice not to make the majority of your customers in the U.S. (Christmas) angry!! War on Christmas indeed. All Praise be to the Lord Je-I mean ALLAH.

I already had cut off best buy because of their crappy-and-pushy-at-the-same-time service. This doesn't change my already low opinion of the store.
I am happy with Hanukka, and even don't have a problem with the happy whatever but not if the Merry Christmas is dropped. I would wager to say that there are more jews in this country than moslems but probably not for long.

I don't have as much of a problem with them wishing Happy Eid when it falls on Black Friday – but did they flyer wish a Happy Thanksgiving or just say it was open Thanksgiving Day? When Hannakuh and Christmas fall in the same week, in makes sense to celebrate both at the same time. I have more of a problem with stores being open on Thanksgiving.
And, after reading the Snopes entry, I am disgusted that they wish a Joyous Kwaanza. Kwaanza is a "holiday" made up by a radical Black Liberation criminal and it pushes socialist ideals. At least Eid is a real holiday and it celebrates an event that is also relevant to Jews and Christians.

Best Buy doesn't have the best deals and it's very rare they ever do. I just looked at the flier and it doesn't have it on there. Of course I either maybe looking at the wrong one(yesturdays) or is it that Texas said no we're not putting that on there. I'll look again though. I have to say that when I go to Best Buy here in Killeen, the people have said Merry Christmas or Happy Thanksgiving. Not Happy Holidays.

Won't buy from them again. This is not the only reason. When you go in there; they try to push certain products on you and won't help you with others. Have a broken elbow right now and sales person would not help with putting battery in camera I bought from the place a while back.

I stopped buying from Best Buy years ago when I was confronted by their dishonest 'customer service' department. I haven't even purchased batteries from them since. They've always been a pit. Stupid marketing practices aren't the only reason not to buy from them.
I have looked on the Best Buy website and guess what? It says towards the bottom: Guaranteed CHRISTMAS Delivery! That's right, Best Buy uses the word Christmas, which would make this rumor that Best Buy is ditching Christmas a lie. Neither does the website nor their Thanksgiving Sales fliers say Happy Eid al-Adha. By the way, if Best Buys fliers are THANKSGIVING Sales fliers, they wouldn't have the word Christmas on them.

Maobama was given a war strategy by the Bush administration one year ago and back in March proclaimed it their strategy after they asked Bush not to reveal it. Cheney said it was a cut and paste job. Apparently, it wasn't a top priority of Obie's and he had to be embarrassed by the General into meeting with him for 60 minutes the end of Auguest. Now it's 3 months later and Obie claims he will reveal his strategy next week and will go to NATO on December 7th. Why didn't he approach them 2-3 months ago? They are not planning on getting word back from NATO until the end of January.

If I recall correctly, Christmas is not celebrated until 25 days into next month. Christians who know their Old Testament should celebrate it, too.

Best Buy is no longer a place I shop. They have been kicked to the curb. If I hear a friend is considering a purchase there, I will make it my duty to find the same product cheaper elsewhere, and make them aware of it. For example, I spend around $1250 on various electronics purchases today. Amazon.com, Nike, Newegg, Meritline got my electronics dollars. Not Best Buy. I threw the Rewards card in the same rathole I threw the AARP card a few weeks ago. I no longer support multiculturalists and levelers.
The wife and I refuse to shop there stemming from the incident where they didn't know what a $2 bill was and actually called the cops on the man trying to use them as a means of payment.

I don't shop at BB because their service is horrible. But I am based not far from their HQ. There is a large Somali population that wants to get every thing made Muslim around here and I think BB caved into them. The Somali culture is one that tries to see how far they can push you to get stuff from you and in this highly politically correct state, they have gotten a hell of a lot of stuff for free! That's because people don't want to be called a racist for saying no to anyone from this cultural group. So in the mean time we have Sharia law, tax payer funded Muslim schools, Muslim dorms on state campuses and when they come in to buy something they always say it is over priced and the government steps in and pays for it for them, well actually YOU pay for it.
So my guess is, some Somali Muslim group went to BB and lobbied for this to be put in and got it because BB is just another PC company around here willing to bend over backwards to look politically correct. The thing that irks me the most is, a Thanksgiving day ad and sales event doesn't even mention Thanksgiving except to remind us we can shop online during Thanksgiving.

You omitted an important part of the Eid festival: in the Muslim world, it's Ishmael who was the intended son Abraham willing to sacrifice, not his son, Isaac. In the Old Testament, it's Isaac.

Mai. When I was in school, the Los Angeles City School District bent over backwards to accommodate the kids for Ash Wednesday and other such holidays. But, we Jewish kids often had teachers who would hold tests on our holidays just to be bloody-minded.

The Best Buys I frequented in North Carolina (Durham and Winston-Salem) were uniformly bad. My wife went to buy a record player, and they told her that it would only work with this specific brand of $100 speakers. She gets home, takes it out of the box, we look at it, and there is absolutely nothing special about the connections that require this set of speakers. She goes back to exchange it for the $20 version, and they argue with her about no returns on opened merchandise. I'm glad other people have had better experiences, but that one was par for the course for us.
I don't mind when people try to upsell. It's another thing when they intentionally mislead the customer.

For two years I've told everyone that would listen that the muslims will take over our country within 7 or 8 years!! The way it looks, with obama's help, it will be a lot sooner!! I hope Best Buy customers will now call them "worst buy" and that all the money I've spent there will burn their pockets!!

I don't like Best Buy anyway, but have purchased from them in the past. Costco is much more reliable and allows returns of defective merchandise and that's where I'll shop for Christmas.
I will never shop at best buy again, this is a christian nation. I hope you close and none of the employees willhave a job and we can increase the unemployment in this country.
Maybe Christians should start threatening to shoot up their stores, or stage massive riots. Then maybe Best Buy would recognize Christmas…. As a Best Buy employee; #1, we do not advocate anyone’s religion, that way no one has their feeling hurt, even the non believers. #2, we are never open on Thanksgiving day, as the ad states, so you can see it is clearly a fake. In the 7 years I have been there, we have always closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
#3, we are not told NOT to say Merry Christmas, however we are encouraged to say, Happy Holidays instead, that way we will not hurt anyone’s feelings.

Looks like the comment page says it all. I certainly hope the marketing department takes time to reflect and someone has the "courage" to corret a large error. If not, I guess I will see or hear of them letting workers go and closing stores, like the others who turn their back on our God in their businesses.

Last time I checked, we live in America, which guarantees certain inalienable rights. One of which, the Freedom of Speech, it does not state we have to like it. The other is the Pursuit of Happiness, it does not guarantee happiness. Another is the Separation of CHURCH and State, it does not say the separation of God and State.
After consideration of all comments on this board, even with a respect to those I find less than tactful, I am reminded of two things:
1. (one of my grandfather’s favorite sayings) Believe nothing of what you hear and only 1/2 of what you see.
2. The similarity of this hype of boycotting to that of 1989-1990 when “Christians” were on a boycott of Proctor and Gamble, (paraphrasing from memory) That P&G were devil worshipers, siting a barcode (UPC code)- HMMMMM..

I just wanted to let you know once I found out about the corporation Muslim holiday greeting I will never set foot in a Best Buy again. I can tell you that in the past I and my family have always purchased large ticket items from Best Buy. No more never again will I set foot in a Best Buy. Please tell me what percent of the US population is Muslim? Do you think you can support the required revenue needs from the Muslim population in the USA? Good Luck! While I agree that not using the term Christmas is really stupid, advertising for Happy Eid al-Adha is no different than advertising for Happy Hanakka or Happy Kawanza or Passover or Happy Halloween. Lets face it—they are not a church–they are in business to make money like all the other businesses ie Walmart – and they are trying to get as many different angles as they can to get people to come in. Do I agree with it —not really. But as Thomas Payne said I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it. Not all Muslims are suicide bombers. You are missing the point entirely. People are not complaining because Best Buy is advertising for Eid- al-Adha. They are complaining because they are NOT advertising equally. That would mean them advertising for Christmas AS WELL AS the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday. Christmas is not a "term". It's not just another way to say Eid- al-Adha. Those are two different holidays. Best Buy chose to only advertise the latter. And yes, they are in the business of making money so they are morons to want to lose the business of Christians who are 75% of the population. And yes, they have the right to say what they want, just as the majority of the posters here equally have a right NOT to shop there.

Well folks, looks like Best Buy not only pushes Muslim holidays, but if you'll note on the TV screen a scene from Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. How fortuitous that an anti-Catholic sentiment is also pictured. The Da Vinci Code film duo certainly is another religious hit against a Christian group. Looks like a one-two-punch to me. I'm sure if I looked at it longer, I could get upset, but Best Buy lost my patronage more than a year ago when I found out that they had a customer hit list. You only get service if you're a big spender and A rating through their system. If you're a penny-ante buyer, you don't get good service, etc. They've lost sales on a computer, a TV, a digital camera, and I'm looking for a printer now. Too bad, huh?

Actually, I do get the point. I went to Best Buy just to see if what everyone is saying is correct. While it may not be true in all stores, at the one closest to me they are in error. While they did advertise on One flyer Happy Eid-al-Adha, there were several advertising Christmas and wishing people Happy Holidays. This was at Thanksgiving. I can't say that it is true at all Best Buys but at this one what they are saying is incorrect. So, at least, at this one store they are advertising for us all. Jewish, Christian,Muslim. Yes I even saw one small display wishing people happy Hanakka.
Just found out about this…a bit late. Ultimate Electronics in Colorado guarantees to beat Best Buy prices….Looks like thats where I'll be doin my home electronics shopping from now on.
