US Media Ignores Obama’s Muffed Japan Visit
by Warner Todd HustonThe Japanese media has reported that Obama’s recent state visit to their island nation was a big failure, but the U.S. media is mum on the mess that Team Obama made in Japan. He made multiple diplomatic gaffs and this is quite aside from the absurdly low bow that the incompetent president perpetrated upon greeting the Japanese Emperor Akihito.

Before we get to his other multiple fluffs and diplomatic errors, let’s explain what Obama was telling the Japanese people with his absurdly low bow. The sort of bow that Obama made is almost that of a “dogeza” bow. This is a sort of bow that is so low as to be considered a prostrated position. It is seen as an apology, a supplication, not a sign of respect. So, as we see, Obama once again showed that he wants to be known as the less-than president, that he is representing a prostrated people, and that he feels that to everyone he meets overseas he must apologize for this horrible U.S.A.
The inappropriate bow, however, wasn’t the only mistake that Obama committed in Japan. According to the mainstream Japanese weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun the visit was termed “miserable,” and “the worst US-Japan summit meeting in history” by Japanese insiders. Worse, the Japanese government was so upset at the visit that it retaliated at various points issuing slights right back to President Obama during his stay on Japanese soil.
From a translation by an American living in Japan comes news that Obama began the trip on a sour note when, with little advanced notice, the president seemed to arbitrarily change his arrival schedule in Japan throwing Japanese officials into chaos.
Obama was originally set to land in Japan on November 12, attend a summit meeting with Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on the 13th, and then leave for Singapore on the 14th to attend the APEC Summit meeting. But according to the Japanese magazine, on Nov. 7 the Obama Administration abruptly changed plans and rescheduled the president’s arrival for the 13th instead of the 12th, shaving a day off the visit.
… their excuse for the delay was the shooting at Ft. Hood, Texas on the US Army base on November 5. But the fact of the matter is, the memoral service was on the November 10 and only took a day trip for Obama whereupon he returned immediately to Washington. After that, he had the National Security Council meeting on policy in Afghanistan on November 11th. However, he could have departed Washington D.C. right after that and could have still landed in Japan as everyone agreed and planned on, for the 12th.
In another slight to Japan, a Japanese ruling party spokesman noted that it was obvious to them that Obama was more interested in China on this trip anyway as four days were scheduled for the Communists while only two were scheduled for them.
The magazine notes that Obama was left waiting in a car for five minutes at the entrance to the Prime Minister’s Official Residence and this may have been a message of rebuke sent to Obama by Japanese officials for the president’s abrupt change of schedule.
Shukan Bunshun magazine also notes that while the Japanese had “a total of 14 officials, including six cabinet ministers, the Foreign Minister Okada, the Defense Minister Kitazawa,” the president’s retinue only consisted of members of “Team Obama” and no other American officials of high standing. This was taken as a message that Obama did not consider this meeting very important.
Consequently, after the meeting with Japanese officials, PM Hatoyama immediately left Japan for the APEC Summit essentially leaving Obama alone on Japanese soil even though Obama had several other high profile visits to wrap up in Japan. Japanese journalist Michael Yu noted that this was a message that Hatoyama did not feel much respect for Obama since, as host, he essentially abandoned his guest, President Obama, and flew off to Singapore.
The Japanese magazine characterizes this visit as the “worst” one ever.
“To tell you the truth, it had to have been the worst US-Japan Summit Meeting in history,” a source of ours at the Foreign Ministry revealed to us.
This is just one more example of “Team Obama” issuing one slight after another to our allies while slavishly devoting himself to our enemies. The British have felt it, the Germans, the French, and now the Japanese.
It all adds up to a White House that places little interest in good diplomatic relations with our allies.

The media pretty much ignores just about all the bad news about President Right Angle.
Beside there still foaming at the mouth about you-know-who.

That wasn't a bow, he was looking for "change".
http://www.cafepress.com/rightwingstuff
About five or six years ago, the State Department fired a young foreign service officer (an American diplomat) after she curtsied to the queen of England. It would be nice to see a journalist resurrect that story and compare it to this disgraceful act.
The Man-Child's arrogance is amazing to me. He has no social graces and for one who has supposedly lived on foreign soil, you would think he would realize the importance of knowing cultural clues. His elitist view of himself and his staff are so out of touch with the world and the US, it is astounding he ever got elected. Oh wait, ACORN, SEIU, the lame stream media…
well we do owe Japan alot of money, alot
Ah, yes, I remember being "lectured" by my liberal friends on how much better he would speak & handle foreign affairs than Pres. Bush. What a joke!
Great reporting. Apparently the Japanese haven't been reporting on the tea-parties etc., as they weren't convinced it was a true picture of Obowa but I would guess things are about to change after this visit, and fast. Good for the Japanese PM to leave the country while this Obowa was still there…a defininte insult… not that the dunderhead would even pick up on it. This idiot has insulted every friend we have while kissing our enemies backsides. He's an embarrassment.
Without outlets like this one we'd never know what was really going on…thanks for all that you do. Now let's see how fast the state-run media pick it up. HA!
“To tell you the truth, it had to have been the worst US-Japan Summit Meeting in history,” a source of ours at the Foreign Ministry revealed to us.
Yeah well we in the US have to agree on this one.
FTA: To tell you the truth, it had to have been the worst US-Japan Summit Meeting in history,” a source of ours at the Foreign Ministry revealed to us.
Another historic first for the Manchild in Chief.
Obama is the one that expects to be bowed to. Who does he think he's kidding? Another example of Pathological Narcissitic Personality Disorder.
Obow-wow ! A new meaning for the word "transparency".
You mean he was "hoping" there was "change" on the ground?
Barry is an IDIOT and none of the people he has surrounded himself with know anything whatsoever about how to conduct themselves either.
Just because he lived, for a few years, in Indonesia ( from the age of 6 to 10 ), doesn't mean that he actually knows anything about foreign cultures; even though his mother took him to japan once.
Chip, chip, chip . . .
That is an inside expression my wife and I use with each other. By it we mean the support Obama is losing little by little, day by day, from a wide spectrum of people and groups. Also the facade that is being chipped away to reveal the true character of the man behind the curtain.
Dear Japan, et al:
On behalf of a demoralized and deeply embarrassed nation, please accept our apologies for the actions of our President during his visit. We assure you we are as troubled as you with his incessant groveling throughout the world and his constant displays of self-importance. We promise to resolve this situation in 2012 or sooner if he provides a legal basis for impeachment.
Please keep us in your prayers. We realize you're Shinto and Buddhist, but we'll take all the help we can get.
Sincerely,
Citizens of the (soon to be former) United Soviet States of America
If our MSM were doing their job, instead of being just another arm of the the DNC, Obama would NEVER have been elected president!
Barry and Biden have separately made more gaffs, far worse gaffs, and more foreign policy stumbles IN LESS THAN A YEAR, than President Bush the younger ever did in his entire life.
There has NEVER been such a tin-eared, inept, idiot president in the history of this nation and that includes JFK and Carter; which is saying something since Carter lost Iran and JFK's ineptitude gave us THE CUBAN MISSLE CRISIS and got us into a fighting war in Vietnam!
Poor Barry, he caint help it. He just never learned protocol…………..
To think that this stumbling, bumbling, buffoon of a knuckledragger is running the free world!
i've only seen this on the blogs
You'd think he could save at least one of those bow's for the American taxpayers.
He has already provided "legal basis" for impeachment…for instance, his claiming his extravagant inaugaration a "national emergency" so that FEMA would use tax dollars to foot the bill. But hey, it was his first day. The man was just getting warmed up. The problem is that the republicans don't have the balls to even mention it, much less proceed and kick his ass to the curb. Obama has also used his position to extend favors to his minions and a permanent fundraiser for himself. How about all of the entertainers that we paid for him to have over for slumber parties at the White House? To bad we don't have enough patriotic politicians that will stick to the guidelines of the Constitution.
A 'gaff' is (1) the spar at the top edge of a quadrilateral fore and aft sail, (2) a pole with a sharp hook at the end used to land fish, or (3) a device worn by cross dressers to conceal male genitalia. I think you meant to say 'gaffe', meaning a socially awkward act.
For 20 years under Wright I think he did learn protocol Cowboy. The manifestation of what he learned during those 20 years is unfolding before our vary eyes. Battery acid in. Battery acid out.
To the Japanese: Please accept the apologies from we Americans who were cognizant of who these people in the White House really were. And please forgive those Americans suffering from a severe case of buyers remorse.

lol the future of American media
You can't even call it the "media" anymore. It's nothing more that the propaganda arm of the Far Left. If we can't even get them to cover the stories on ACORN or SEIU, why would we expect them to cover anything that happens with Obama overseas?
Google searched and found nothing on this. Hoped for at least a British commentary. Can anyone help?
Affirmative Action in Action.
I am SO sick of being embarrassed by this Bolshevik bozo- HOW many more years of this do we have to endure?
It's all like a bad dream…
http://reaganiterepublicanresistance.blogspot.com
Wonder why?
In hyper drive !
Maybe someone else can answer this question for me. I read somewhere that Japan is one of the few countries in the world that actually regards Pres. Bush (the younger) quite highly, even in their press. Does anyone know if this is true?
That's because the MSM has and shall continue to do ANYTHING to protect their "dear leader".
Hey, he IS less-than-presidentent and word has it he loves those prostrate exams, especially given by the right "doctor."
As a mother, I used every opportunity that came up as a learning experience, teaching my children the importance of manners, knowing who you are dealing with, be it religious or cultural differences. My children by the age of 6 knew how to behave, had manners, were prompt to appointments, and never assumed they were due anything. Basic social skills…if you ask me, the O'ster is socially retarded. I believe his mother probably coddled him because his father abandoned them, leaving him in his well spoken (TOTUS) man child state.
Actually, Bush was well respected around the world and liked by many.. Of course, it depends on how you define respect. One captured terrorist said they didn't conduct another attack on US soil while Bush was president was because they feared him. To them, fearing is a sign of respect.
Bambi wants everyone to like him and doesn't care about the US because he's running for president of a new world body once he can secretly hand over our sovereignty to a new world order.
So would it be a safe bet to say that the China visit dud as well?
Sorry for my spelling above. Must learn to edit before pressing submit.
This must be how they do it in Kenya.
A few weeks ago, I was driving around listening to Fox News on XM radio when Obumble was asked about the Fort Hood masacre. He was obviously winging it because there were very long pauses between words as he stumbled to carefully craft a guarded, yet empty statement. Of course, the libs will say he was being thoughtful. I thought he sounded inarticulate, much more so than Bush would have given the circumstances. Bush spoke from the heart.
On the contrary.. I bet it was a great success. I am certain that Teh Won conducted several high level meetings concerning how best to sell our sovereignty when everything collapses and China needs to save our butts.
He did meet with the Communist leaders while there…
I would say China visit big dud. He just got scolded and had to go everywhere by himself. Why wasn't Michelle there at the Great Wall with him? He looks so lonely in that picture at the Great Wall. No adoring crowds neither.
The real Obama is the one seen on the videos shown on Glenn Beck's show…the ones where he was aligning himself with Acorn and SEIU during the campaign, speaking in that rap sing song way he does when he's among his flock. He was almost scary. Also, remember the rabble rousing he did a few months ago to a union group when he kept yelling, "Are you with me?" He's a community agitator at heart.
He does bow to the American people. He just faces away from them when he does it.
I think Obama still think he is 3/5's of a person or a slave and the 13th Amendment did not end slavery. Wait, he does not respect the Constitution anyway since he is not a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN as required under Article II, Clause 1, Sec. 5 of the U.S. Constitution.
yep, that explains his bow to the Saudi King, Emperor of Japan and any other head of state for that message. Blacks folks must really be proud for letting this man take us back to slavery days.
It would be impossible to tell the difference between the great wall and MO's ass.
“the worst US-Japan summit meeting in history”
This is truly a historical Presidency!!!
Everyone needs to quit thinking that Barry is a buffoon and does not know what he is doing. He knew what his bow was. He knew what the the Japanese know…….that this was just as the article says….a prostrate bow and he knows the depth of the meaning. Proof that he knows this is because he did NOT bow the same way to the woman. He knows bow protocol.
He is more at home in the Ghetto using his community organizing skills. Not much opportunity to polish your social graces there. He apparently is torn between the elitist snobbery he learned at Harvard, and the Gangsta Rap culture that he spent time organizing.
We need to cut him some slack and blame his handlers. Rahm Emanuel? Valerie Jarrett? Anyone? Anyone?
He was not stumbling. He was trying to be sure our enemies knew he was really on their side. He was trying to give two very different messages with the same words. Go back and listen. He is not OBumble. Everything he does and says is deliberate and most have two meanings depending on who is hearing it.
Technically, I believe that's a "moon".
Hey… do you ever see a picture of Obama smiling? Or do you see the angry man pictures I see?
Except when in the presence of our enemies of course, or when prostrating oneself to a foreign leader…
Don't be so harsh. Obama's inauguration really *was* a national emergency.
Amen!
Why wasn't Michelle there? Because he doesn't want to share the limelight.
That's what the edit link is for …
Good catch, English Speaker, but there's another "gaff" — something fake, such as "gaff Coke" (obscure-brand cola) or "gaff watch" (a knock-off of a valuable one).
what I don't get is he can go to Kenya and they would make him KING .. thy would bow to hima nd give him antyihing he wants – why won't he go ?
oh yea they have no money ….this boy likes money…
Or, "gaff President," as in… heh.
I'm surprised no one has (yet) picked up on last night's "Saturday Night Live" skit on Obama's meeting & press conference with the Chinese pres. Hysterical! Asking Obama about all the money the US owes to China, the Chinese leader, via his translator, asked "Are you going to kiss me?" When the Obama character replied with "I don't understand the question," the translator said "I like to be kissed when I'm being scr__ed." The Chinese pres then stepped out from behind his podium, turned his back to Obama, bent over and grabbed his ankles.
Any bets that Jeffrey Imelt had a cow?
I am the first to jump on the criticize Obama bandwagon, but these things seem very minor indeed.
Speaking from a Canadian perspective, how on earth can this complete idiot still be hovering around 50% approval?!
I know. Let's get them a reset button. Yeah. That'll work.
HaHa 1st …. you got that right.
I figured that too. She does draw attention.
The article failed to mention: Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Honudras. Obama has managed to dis everyone he should thank and praised everyone he should dis. Way to go loser!!!!
Oooo, I have to see that clip.
Wake Up America! Obama is bowing to a conquered foe! He's spitting on the graves of hundreds of thousand men and women who fought against the Japanesse in World War II. Obama is weak! He is unfit to command a popsicle stand let alone the world most powerful nation. He's done this before and he'll keep on doing it because he hates America and is a shamed to be American! So let's kick the clown out for our sake! he's committing high crimes and misdermenanors by not backing our troops in a time of war, by disgracing our fallen troops of years past, by pushing for anti-constitutional laws to try steal our wealth and our rights! He is domestic terrorist! Him pelosi, reid and dozens of other greedy crooks in Washington! They refuse to listen to the majority of the people and refuse to follow the constitution that they all took an oath to up hold! Wake Up America! standup and protest loudly.
Civil disobience is called for and only you can save the country! If you don't who will? wake up! Obama and the rest of the political elite SOB's in Washoington are stealing anything and everything not nailed down for personal gain regardless of what they say! Ignore them whent hey say I'm a Senator of I'm a congressman! They are public servants and need to be reminded of that fact! Fire them all! They are all corrupt and need to be jailed! Wake Up america! take back your country! If you don't your children will be slaves!
Obama is right to apologize to the world on behalf of the American people. After all, we were stupid enough to elect him.
The lame stream media won't call Obama on it because they too hate America and think they are above the public. Ignore them. Boycot them! drive them out of business by boycotting the advertiser on their news programs and their news papers! wake Up America! You have to fight for your rights before these thieves steal them all and amke slaves of your chlidren!
I was stationed in Japan during the Clinton years. I know for sure that the Japanese did not regard Clinton very highly. In Korea they really thought Clinton was a joke.
It would seem oBOWma could care less about Japan. His slights seem calculated and intentional.
My question is — Just how insulated is he from what is being said about his visit by the Japanese
press or does he think they love him just for showing his face?
Stanley Ann Dunham and her father were both, at the least, "FELLOW TRAVELERS".
Stanley Ann and Obama Sr. NEVER lived together and Barry didn't meet his supposed biological father until he was 10+ and then only for a matter of days.
I doubt very much that Barry's mother ever taught him any manners or social graces. Lefties, of that generation believed that all such things were hogwash and very much needed to be done away with. Ditto for social skills of any kind.
The entire time when Obama lived with hsi mother, she was going to school full time. I doubt she had much time to do all that much for him; especially not after her second child was born.
Once shipped back to his maternal grandparents, in Hawaii, with both of them working and Stanley Dunham bringing little Barry over to spend evening with Frank Marshall Davis, a card carrying Commie, pedophile, and anti-white racist, manners, morals, and the nicities of social behavior were completely thrown to the winds, as Frank, Stanley, and Barry spent evenings writing and reading filthy limericks and drinking white lightning and talking about how great Communism is and how bad white Americans are.
You're wrong about that.
Obama truly knows NOTHING at all about protocol at any level. That extremely low bow was wrong; even for those who do bow to the Japanese Emperor.
IT;S OK, EVERYONE. JUST TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER 2010 WHEN WE CAN GET RID OF THIS CORRUPT CONGRESS AS WELL AS THE MAN-CHILD'S ABILITY TO GET THE KIND OF ANTI-AMERICAN LEGISLATION THAT HE WANTS. HANG IN THERE AND IN THE MEANTIME SUPPORT ALL THE OPPONENTS OF ALL THE DEMOCRATS RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION IN 2010. WE WILL TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK AND PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION FROM THESE WORTHLESS SCUM THAT HIGH-JACKED OUR COUNTRY AND ITS VALUE.
Not even in Kenya, do they bow like that !
It's a Middle eastern/Muslim thing.
Probably has something to do with the following:
1.) Twilight is considered fine art here
2.) If a kid escapes public schooling and can actually spell his / her name without help, they are considered the next Stephen Hawking.
3.) Dancing With The Stars is probably up for an Emmy this year…
4.) If you were to peak under Teh Won's desk, you would find the anchors from all MSM networks crammed in there waiting for their daily feeding…
Yeah, that about sums it up…
No he wants us to bow, no details available figure them out yourself.
Not to the Japanese or the rest of the world.
The 52% who voted him are the stupid ones.
Leave me out of this.
I am appalled. Do you know how bad you have to be to make the Japanese rude? Orders of magnitude beyond Imbecilic. This is the scariest news to come out so far.
This has to make the move into Common Public Knowledge.
Rush – please get this out there. He should be so lucky as to see Russia from his house.
[...] to Big Government, the mainstream Japanese weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun reported that the visit was the “worst” [...]
Why is it wrong when an American (for once) shows politeness?
You do expect of us sub-humans from east, west, south and north of USA to be polite and gentle towards you, don't you?
The Nazi-Germans also held themselves for being high above all other men on earth.
I've gone to Asahi for Japanese News in the past. http://www.asahi.com/english/
They've got some articles translated to English and it's interesting to see world events from their point of view. I did a quick Obama search and about half what I found were English learning lessons (They're using his speech paterns to help teach kids English!) and Japanese only articles. A couple overview articles though in English.
He did not fool me. The world is learning about this emperor who has NO clothes. And so are fully half the fools who voted for him.
Americans do not grovel before foreign leaders … they, above all, recognize this fact, even if our own President and State Dept do not.
This is not even "polite". The Japanese understand the shallowness of this gesture. That makes the gesture even worse. It is insulting to us and to the Japanese.
Children of Leftist parents of the sixties were definitely left to themselves to survive. Selfishness had risen to an all time high in our culture and many children paid the price for it.
I had heard or read the above information before on O. He was never really nurtured and it shows in his self perception. He is unable to take any criticism, self absorbed, and truly believes he knows best. Very dangerous elements for a person in power, much like many other despots in history, God save us if he truly gains the power he is trying to take. God help us!
Mark my words, Obama is kissing up (or bowing down) to selected royalty because that is what he plans to be within 10 years. POTUS is just a stepping stone. He sees himself as some kind of New-Age Emperor of the World.
Overseas media tend to be the best at reporting news about the United States these days if you like a more accurate account of things. The media in the US is so tainted that just about all the MSM is like Baghdad Bob and reporting the opposite of what is going on right in front of the camera.
And we are surprised?
Yes. The tired old Nazi reference to shame us neanderthals into submission. What, couldn't spell racist or are you saving that for another post? Sorry. Not wearing it anymore. Sub-humans? I don't recall those words on this site calling anyone anything remotely similar. But I forget, liberals always know what we really mean.
The President has gone far beyond being polite. He's been apologizing for us with every head of state and tin pot dictator he's met. He's Neville Chamberlin reincarnated… Please be nice to us. We promise not to be mean anymore. Frankly, this country has damn little to apologize for and many times has bent over backwards to be polite to nations clearly undeserving.
It's not arrogance that defines this country's attitude. It's confidence. The President, however, is presenting an image of doubt and weakness. Got news for you. It's a big bad world out there that respects strength, not European-style weakness. He's setting us up for another 9-11. If it occurs near the end of his term, at least we'll be in a position to replace him with a leader capable of strength and decisiveness.
You couldn't be more wrong. I went to school in Japan and that bow is akin to groveling. The Japanese do not respect a show of weakness like that. I am utterly at a loss as to why people like you blindly defend Obama.
………Hm. I'm wondering if I read this wrong and reacted harshly to this comment. Are you saying that he meant to grovel to the Japanese?
His mother either ignored him, or when she did pay attention to him, sang the praises of his supposed father and extolled the racists, crazy spewing of Malcolm X.
Barry's maternal grandmother spoiled him, but didn't have all that much time to spend with him.
Though he didn't write either of his books, he must have told Billy Ayers quite a lot about his childhood and IF it is all true, it does explain quite a bit about WHY he is such an inept, radical, misogynistic ( though he always seems to seek out strong women to order him about ), narcissistic twerp.
He's very dangerous; though mostly because he is black…………………..
If he were 100% white, instead of just 50%, he would never have been president and probably not even a state Senator.
I looked for MSM coverage of the bow because, as a former college student who lived in Japan, I knew that the bow was too subservient and wouldn't be respected by the Japanese. Every article I read (an ABC News one comes to mind) claimed the Japanese were delighted that Obama showed such respect for their traditions. ??? I kept thinking who are these Japanese people they claim to be talking to?. Silly me. I should have known better than to think they'd actually look at what the Japanese are reporting in their own newspapers.
The dishonesty of the MSM is really, really scaring me. Thank goodness for the internet.
The plain truth is, Obama is VERY inarticulate without his teleprompter and many times even with one and President Bush the younger was NOT all that articulate.
I remember well, when President Bush was standing in the rubble of the WTC, bullhorn in hand, and was extremely eloquent, sans prepared speech, sans notes, sans teleprompter.
<img src="http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/4555/konobaka.jpg">
Far too many; sadly.
Just ask Larry Sinclaire.
Because inside of the US, most of the MSM won't criticize him. And those that do are either branded as racists or "not a credible news source". You won't hear any of the international negative commentary about Obama anywhere, just whatever views that make it through the Obama-filter. It creates a very distorted view to the public at large.
1) Sorry to break it to you, but Twilight is considered fine art in much of the rest of the world as well. Teenage angst knows no political boundaries.
2) Dancing WIth the Stars still beats the Eurovision Song Contest by a factor of one million.
re:
1.) I was trying to ignore that fact…
2.) Never seen the Euro version, but will take your word… Although, I cannot imagine anything that bad…
And just where are you from……………..some disgusting SOCIALIST country?
Ever heard of GOODWIN'S L.AW?
The Spiraling Incompetence of this Obama Administration is STAGGERING the Imagination…
No, I think Definition #3 fits his overseas trips…… = /
I spoke to one of the people I had mentioned this website to today. And, he said, “he’s pissed” and kind of said he wished he had not have. I told him “ignorance is not bliss!” I am hoping there will be alot more “pissed off” people once we start passing this information along! I really THINK-JAPAN needs to see the ACORN/SEIU videos. I FIRMLY believe they would be DEMANDING there MONEY BACK NOW! Obama is a “complete disgrace” to OUR NATION, to OUR CONSTITUTION and to the American people.
The times on line uk has a report on Obamas gig in China and its not pretty.
Should have probably just held his hands for an hour and slobbered all over him at the White House like Bush Jr. did to the Saudi leader and his terrorists after 9/11. It's the least Bush Jr. could do after scrambling the entire Bin Laden family out of the country right after the terrorists attacks. After 8 years, it's nice to see these terrorist leaders no longer have that "special" room in the White House anymore. Lord knows what went on in there.
Remember your mantra:
Helping America is Socialism
Helping terrorists is Patriotism…send more money to Iraq!!!!!
I think you need to switch to Decaff. In case you haven't noticed World War 2 ended over 60 years ago. Since the armistice Japan has been one of the Wests staunchest allies in the region. Considering that area contains China, Korea and Indonesia I'd have thought you'd be happy to have strong alliances with nations like Japan.
The fastest way to America irrelevant in that theater is to start treating Japan like a 'conquered foe' because other than them and Australia, who exactly do you have to foster Western interests in the Far East?
This was a poorly planned visit that was executed equally incompetently. To be honest, I'm one of the people who've been very surprised to learn how poorly Obama has done at international diplomacy – first he hurried to put the boot in on the Brits, whilst managing to insult the Germans and French in the same visit. He's ignored Eastern Europe and the nascent democracies of that region, struggling under the weight of a resurgent Russia. Now Japan and China. Is there a major trade partner that he's NOT offended recently? Canada? Mexico?
I do agree somewhat with what you've said. However, under Bush Jnr, America was often guilty of over-confidence bordering on arrogance. And yes, that put a lot of backs up. And yes, apologies and normalisation of relations was definitely necessary. Initially I applauded Obama's efforts in that direction.
However, it's kind of hard to see how insulting traditional allies and playing kissyface with traditional foes puts America in a stronger position. Quite frankly the lies involved with the invasion of Iraq have left a lot of allies mourning dead soldiers lost to no great visible effect. I think people are quite pessimistic about Obama's ability to helm either Iraq or Afghanistan to peaceful and constructive conclusions. I think people are also pessimistic about what power structures will replace the ones we knocked out in those regions.
Don't kid yourself. In most of the parts of Europe I lived in / visited, Bush was regarded as something slightly south of the Devil. He was largely considered, by those who took an interest in history, politics and world affairs, as a loudmouthed buffon, a chicken hawk and something of a coward when it came to personal danger.
A lot of Japanese were horrified to see the Japanese Self-Defence Force taking a more active role in world conflicts, and blamed American diplomacy for encouraging the Japanese government in moving in that direction.
That's interesting. I, too, see only an angry man. There is no warmth to his expression, even when he is smilng. He looks very cold and calculating. I believe there is an unbelievable temper bubbling just beneath the surface, and in time it will be slip it's way out.
Bowrack Obowma. If he bows again… I have nothing….
Just because Barry lived in the U.S. doesn't mean he ever learned how many Stars are on our FLAG or how many states we have….lol 57……it must be those extra congressional districts he is thinking of as states
I went to school in Japan during the Clinton years and they used to mock us for having Clinton as the president. This was even pre-Lewinsky. They thought he was ridiculous.
He had to be looking for change (on the floor). Before he's done, that's all Americans will have left in their pockets.
I can't wait to see their faces when this nightmare is finally over! They will not even be able to 'report' the news HA!!!
I tnink you have that confused with the Lincoln Bedroom. Isn't that where Milak Zulu Shabazz is staying, doing Lord knows what on the clean white sheets.
Again, you are confused; that mantra is not my mantra. Here is mine:
"Shove it down our throatsin '09,
we'll shove it up your ass in'10."
The best thing you and your ilk could do no, is bend over, take a big breath and grit your teeth.

It's often very difficult to determine whether a strong leader is arrogant or confident. Sometimes the only measure of that is success or failure.
What apologies were necessary and to whom. For protecting ourselves? For ridding the world of terrorists and madmen? For allowing people to freely choose their own form of government and leaders. For feeding starving nations and being the worlds first responder after hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, tsunamis. volcanoes and genocides? For taking care of ourselves and not begging for international help when those things happened to us?
Everyone seems to be mad at us for responding to force with force. If we apologize for that we will invite more violence against us. We can debate Iraq all day long. I believe it was necessary and a success. The people get to choose their own destiny, the region is more stable and every Jihadi killed there is one less to worry about. If anything, the world owes us an apology for the way it treats us.
You know Obama is making some of our allies happy. Norway, Canada, and Mexico seem pretty complacent about his blundering, they don't seem to mind. In fact they even praise him. Mexico is still waiting for the giant welcome mat to be slapped out in front of the Alamo and the massive busing in of illegals, and I'm sure we'll have all that in place by 2012, so don't you worry about those elections. Already taken care of.
I once had a conversation with a couple of Iranian students in Cologne (Köln) Germany about America and the war. This was about 2003, in the run up to the Iraq invasion. They had piles of literature made by Greenpeace and perhaps other organizations explaining all of America's misdeeds throughout history. The radical students that believe this stuff did not represent the majority of "Germans" — like I said, they were Iranians, living to some extent off of Germany's largesse. Their list of American atrocities included things I wasn't even sure was true, but some things were the slaughter of civilians in Vietnam and stuff like that, Hiroshima, etc. Perhaps we are regarded poorly by other nations. But the truth is this is a world governed by the agressive use of force, and Obama bowing made the emperor uncomfortable and mortified that lady standing next to him. Watch the video.
Japanese bow as a greeting about .. halfway from what Obama is doing. To show mutual greetings they bow equally. If there is any doubt as to how low the bow is to be, they look to the other person as a cue. The bows should be equal. If they want the other person to bow not as low as they are, they bow slightly to give a cue to the other person as to the proper degree of bow. This is ingrained in the japanese. it is happening in this video. It's funny and embarrassing at the same time. The empress or whoever that is was mortified, utterly, and just wished Obama would stop bowing. She is not born yesterday, and she knows the bows are utterly disingenuous. Obama is a narcissist. She knows it. The whole of Japan knows it.
Just a side note. I'm always curious when I see this claim made.
With regard to Iraq, what lies do you refer to?
Haha! I agree. Japan now has a fairly well trained army. It's fairly small and not credible for invasions, but they have air, artillery, infantry, and naval vessels. Their ground operations rival the US in the level of skill and training their troops possess. And yet.. Japanese people are generally not interested in a fully developed army because "they have turned the page" on imperialism. This is like not carrying a gun because your father was a notorious gangster. I think they need to separate between the past and the present. However the Japanese economy is so strangled by socialism right now that perhaps the Self-Defense Forces need to be scaled back to one that can withstand the next Godzilla flick to hit the big screen.
"He's a community agitator at heart. "
He's a communist agitator at heart.
You really want to see something scary, pause the DVR on him at times when he is preaching – you can almost see nubs on his forehead.
For those who can't figure out Japanese, here's a rough translation:
Emperor (thinking): "Who is this fool?"
Empress (thinking): "Is he is a shoe salesman?"
The worst that could happen actually did–the Japanese lost face–unforgivable. Obama's in trouble.
Just forget about the bow for a second, what was he really doing that delayed his visit. That is what seems to have Japan most upset. If he for one moment called or had a meeting with Andy Stern in that time my head is going to explode.
Obama showed complete submission to the Japanese. Since ww2 the Japanese have always looked to us for strength in dealing with the Chinese and North Koreans. Obama's inferior attitude toward world leaders (including their own) tells the Japanese that they can no longer respect us (U.S.) as a great and powerful ally any more. The Japanese respected us for our big stick. Now the Japanese realize that Obama only speaks softly.
It is just my opinion [and maybe the opinion of many others] that this administration is not what it seems to be. Just as in Iran the so-called clergy in that country run things. Here certain top advisors seem to be running the country. It seems that when big announcements are made the bower in chief is out of the country or playing golf. It seems to be getting more obvious by the day, that Emmanual and axlerod are the ones calling the shots, along with leftwing nut-cases like Ried and Palosi and some others that really don't qualify to even be mentioned. They know who they are.
Well, well, well. Look at all the do gooders that never make a mistake. As a President one learns as he goes. The road to success is laced with mistakes. Are we really helping our country by tearing down it's leader? This doesn't make sense. You don't get a President out of office by stepping on his head. Isn't there something that Obama has done that deserves a pat on his back? I think we should think before we condemn someone. After all we live in the same country.

Are we now ADMITTING that this Gent was NOT prepared for High Office? NOT experienced enough to ACCEPT the responsibility of Ship of State — that it is OK to founder and fumble through one gaffe after another — and STILL call Bush (far more respected in the world than MSM would have us believe) – a "failure"?
Once a man steps up to that podium and takes that OATH OF OFFICE – the wheel of that Ship of State is HIS, he owns it — and all that encompasses "mistakes" thereafter should be ACCEPTED as he who is ACTING PRESIDENT OWNS all that he should have been PREPARED to own when he ran for office.
Speaking of OATH OF OFFICE — what happens to anyone in the military who VIOLATES that Oath?
"To PRESERVE, protect and defend the U.S. Constitution …….." and not "change" it…….
You asked if there isn't something that was done that deserves a pat on the back? Obviously you don't have an answer yourself. If I was a board member of stockholders and our CEO was running our business into the ground — we'd vote to fire the S.O.B. on the spot. Well we cannot do that here — we have to await until National Elections. Maybe by that time you will see what a MAJORITY of citizens of this country think about someone "deserving a pat on the back". I guarantee it will be a boot to the butt!
He not only bowed but clung to both the emperor and empress with a handshake while continuing to bow several more times as if supplicating a superior for beneficence.
You read it wrong; he IS groveling.
There are 57 somethingorother things in some ISLAMIC organization; I bet he was thinking of that and NOT about how many AMERICAN states comprise our union.
OTOH, your last bit about the nonexistent congressional districts is spot on and funny.
I know the man is groveling. What I was asking was whether the previous poster I was responding to was saying that Obama was doing it intentionally. I think he was.
Was this so-called country lead by Bush the last 8 years? I recall Bush getting attacked regularly, and overlooked on things he did right. Hmmm…
Well, he didn't get to go to Hiroshima nor Nagasaki, so instead of yet more verbal apologies, he groveled, is my guess; hoping that Americans are tool stupid to realize what he was doing.
OTOH, he really is very STUPID, so perhaps he was doing it due to abject stupidity.
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw……probably for both of the above.
This could be the start of something big. You've seen the line of Bobble-Head dolls.
Announcing the Obama Bow-Your-Head doll.
Impeachment is brought about only by Congress. The GOP in the house have no prayer to bring it to the floor. Maybe after 2010 elections, things may be different.
I mean just looking at this fool make a bigger fool of himself bowing (scraping) to a foreign leader makes me want to puke.

Face it. This man and his wife are possibly the finest examples of tacky we've ever put on display. I'm sorry, but breding will tell. All the money and office in the world cannot produce polish, manners, elegance and taste.
"Is there nothing he's done…? Asked and answered in one. No.
Excuse me, I meant "breeding" as in "having good breeding".
If he's this bad abroad, just how bad is he when folks come to visit???
Obama can't be expected to know protocol. It was invented when he was only eight years old.
Worse summit meeting in history? Worse than the "summit" meeting on the U.S.S. Missouri!? Way to go Obama.
Hope… Change… just words.
That clip was golden. SNL nailed it, so to speak.
Minor only if "Prostrate-gate" isn't on the fast track to be considered the highlight of Obama's presidency. Which it is.
So major it is, but not in a good way.
His approval rating is oddly enough in direct proportion to his propensity for 90 degree angles. If the man would stand straight and act like a man, his approval rating might likely correspond.

Look, you do not shake hands and bow in Japanese culture. It is simply not done.
It's like farting and burping at the same time while introducing yourself.
Obama not only embarrassed the people of the United States, he embarrassed the the Japanese people.
It's bad enough that George Bush threw up on the Japanese prime minister in '92. But this buffoon actually tries to perform fellatio on the emperor of Japan. To the bemusement of both the Emperor and his wife.
What a Jerk.

One might ask Poland about "insults to allies" — announcing we won't be keeping our missile-shield promises on the anniversary of the blizkrieg…. Yeah… Ouch!
The centuries-old animus between the two 'neses is also not mentioned in this article. Cutting out early to run to the enemy, leaving all the important folk behind, etc — all were mortal insult to the japas. They – obviously – got the message – leaving him waiting in the car and leaving the country while Dear Reader was still there were intended as equally mortal insults.
The only way for Dear Reader to save face is seppuku…
why?
Japanese don't bow while shaking hands . A slight nod forward of the head is appropriate, but not necessary. And we do shake hands with one another, instead of bowing, more than one might think, and especially when dealing with foreigners who come from countries where bowing is not customary. Because bowing by someone who hasn't learned to bow from a young age is an awkward, painful thing to watch for those who have. This is the last thing the Emperor and Empress want to see, and certainly not how they want to be greeted by the head of another country, especially the United States. Kudos to them for not laughing out loud. Obama in his attempt to be multi-cultural, comes off as clownish, shallow, and inexperienced in cross-cultural communication. I'm wondering if he consulted protocol officiers, and if so they should be fired, but like most shallow folks who wrongly consider themselves worldly, I have a feeling that his great confidence in his knowledge of "others" precluded such a discussion. He most likely acted on his own. Perhaps he could fire himself? Funny how those who spent the last eight years mistakenly complaining about the "ugly American" abroad are actually themselves truly grotesque in manner and decorum. Give me a straight talking cowboy anytime.
well it seems like wild, random guess-as-you go tactics has worked for American presidents interacting with foreign nations so far… i guess
