Republican Reaction To Health Care Summit
by Washington News ObserverWashington News Observer spoke with various outspoken Republicans. Some Republicans claimed that Republicans came out on top at this summit, while other dismissed it as a waste of time. The following clips feature Reps. Michelle Bachmann, Steve King and Brian Bilbray.
“Well in my opinion I think that we probably will see more substance come out of the Beer Summit at the White House than we will out of the current Health Care Summit today. So I don’t think we’re going to see a lot of productivity unfortunately because it would have been nice if we actually could’ve seen something move down the road. Instead I think what we’re seeing is a President who has dug his heels in and he plans to do nothing but defend his incomprehensible over 2,000 page long plan.
“They want to use the nuclear option on Republicans, and they want to allow Iran to develop nuclear capability. And the conditions that he offered to Ahmadinejad have been denied to Republicans. He insists on keeping his bills on the table; the reconciliation nuclear option on the table. He refuses to open and extend his hand with a blank slate or a blank piece of paper.”
“The Republicans walked into the President’s house and actually gave broadside after broadside and matched him one for one. I think the President realizes that he could not filibuster with the Members.”

There will be a price for an out of control government, November is seven months away…
True, but my immediate concern is the damage done to us before that seven months gets here. If this monstrosity is passed in 6 weeks as they hope to do, can we undo it? Does Washington ever undo anything? (except for tax cuts?). What damage will have been done to the economy, foreign policy, as well as domestic policy by the time adults get back in charge?
Finally! It appears the Republicans might be showing backbone. Not only do we have the dire straits of the economy, the march of Progressivism/Fascism, the sheer ineptness of BHO and his administration to thank for this most fortuitous event, we have the Tea Party to thank for this momentum swing, and that is US !!!! Let's Go!!!!
I haven't been this excited for the future prospects of our great nation since the Reagan Revolution!! I know we are facing tough times ahead, but we can do it!!!! ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Hanzo
This is true, one thing that never ends is a government program.
Well we all know it was just for show….I can't understand why the Dems are throwing themselves on a sword for this guy..They know the American people don't want this bill, with payoffs, congress writing themselves out of it,just a bunch of dirty s***….And once you give the unproductive another entitlement it will be hell to take it back…They will raise taxes higher than the EU could of ever dreamed.
Michelle Bachmann?
The perfect representation of the GOP. Crazier than a loon.
Good work. A fantastic choice for spokesperson.
Crazier than a loon
anon yea, you've certainly established you loony bona fides around here.
LOL
And just what did the republicans bring to the table?
Nothing but nonsense.
1) We need to start over – no chance and no reason to
2) Tort reform – it's on the table and can save us 1% at best
3) Sell insurance across state lines – already being done
Epic fail for the GOP. Americans are not that stupid. Sans teabaggers.
If they don't cave to the "tell a lie frequent enough it becomes true" democrats the Reps may pull off an early christmas. Only to the faithful the summit was a success, to all others who tried to watch it was an infomercial for snake oil.
The only thing that stopped Hillarycare in the Clinton administration was the threat of mob violence. There were angry people pounding on Dan Rostenkowskis car at a protest rally. Apparently we were heard last time, but it took a perceived physical threat before they backed off, as they immediately repealed the bill which they had passed. What will it take for the insulated nobility in W ashington, District of Criminals, to understand the people this time?
There quite a few states who will challenge this. Unfortunately I live in NY so it will not happen here. My state only requirement for representation is move here and present your cable bill.
In six weeks, the lemming Demwits in Congress are going to follow their Messiah over the cliff. I can't wait!!!
It sure is fun watching the Demwits destroy themselves.
Anon,
You are right. It was nothing but nonsense. But when you begin with nonsense, which is precisely what the health care proposal is and has been from the start, you end up with nonsense. For the sake of this country, this nonsense better not prevail.
No big deal, but you spelled her name with two (Ls) again. Michele Bachmann has really impressed me this past year. I think serious consideration should be given to her, along with Ryan and Coburn, (at this time) for possible party nomination for the 2012 race.
Get used to seeing more Repubs like Michelle Bachmann in Congress starting in Nov. No one is more crazy in DC than Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. In Nov. they will see happens to arrogant statists who continue to work against the will of the American people and do it in secret.
I'm WeWed_Up for them as well. We need more conservatives like them
Nov. 2010: EPIC FAIL for Obama and the Demwit party as Reid is voted out and the Repubs take the House and Senate.
Barry has a perfect record going for EPIC FAIL. VA, NJ, MA, Chicago Olympics, jobs, economy, healthcare, iran…..ad naseum.
You bring up am interesting thought. I wonder if pelosi and the dems will still want to count murtha's vote. We know they have no trouble counting the votes of the dead. Not to mention the brain dead (anon).
Socialism is a fraud and doesn't work. Global Warming is a fraud. The Stimulus is a fraud. Chicago is a fraud and it is a failed City-State, like Detroit. If they're so right, why do they lie about everything?
The healthcare bill is also a lie and a fraud. All of the lies show how evil these pricks really are and how they represent an existential threat to us all. America is the last stand of free market democracy and they can't wait to remove it from the planet.
Can't wait for November. This may be the most important election in the last 100 years. This election is a referendum on socialism in America and whether our constitution will survive.
.
He did make the world love us again , didn't he??? Oh, wait never mind. he did not do that either.
Indeed, we do.
"Americans are not that stupid".Welllllll, you and your cretinous ilk voted for BHO in the first place, true? So, your 20 or 30% of hardcore Progressive/Fascist useless idiots ARE that stupid, at least.Projecting about tea-baggin' again, I see. What is it with Progressive/Fascist perverts such as yourself? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Hanzo
Still trying to say that the republicans are the party of 'No'?
Check their web site, for months they have been trying to solve this with easy, low cost solutions. It's been public and out there for all to see, (much different than Obama's behind the scenes sneaky deals).
The states that had tort reform did much better than 1% and it's a painless 1% even if I use your wrong facts.
Selling health insuance across state lines is happening? Then why not expand that and let competition help with an easy help that won't cost taxpayers anything?
You think a solution is bad unless it costs a lot, and a paper pusher in DC controls it.
Tea party citizens know from daily life that's not true.
God bless Michele Bachmann.
You forgot to list, obama, the democrats, and anon.
Right on, Ellie. We have to begin cleansing the progressives from congress- both sides of the aisle. I can tolerate someone who is slightly left of center (with difficulty) or slightly right of center (less difficulty), but there is no place for progressives/Marxists/socialists/communists who so willfully disrespect our Constitution. Their actions are nothing short of treason.
Don't be so hard on BO, he is an excellent apologizer and bower.
We know the summit was about oblamoa trying to control the congress. As Michele has said!!!
They ( dems.) are still not going to listen to us!! They are still going to shove it down our throats!!
Mr. King did you really expect olameo to listen? He would rather talk with Iran because it makes him "look" like a leader, but he really can't do anything there either!!!
He is going to have to deal with US soon!!!!!

That sounds really good!!!! I like Michele, she makes a lot of sense!!! She knows what we need !!!
And did you get your brain from the dollar store!!!!
I knew the meeting would be a farce, but decided to watch anyway because I needed a little comedy relief. I ended up screaming at my TV and didn't find it informative or funny at all. I was really hoping Boehner would have come back after the break and said he was ending the meeting, as nothing was being accomplished and a waste of time.
The other thing that never stops is the POTUS arrogance and lack of respect. I found one of his last statements interesting regarding how they will move forward…… "that's what elections are for". That might be the ONLY thing he got right the whole day!!!! Even the blue dog "dems" should be worried about that statement.
ANON is a Leftist Progressive that is paid to watch these Breitbart sites. What a bitch of a job. These Leftbags will claim that they are not paid, but they are – just a bunch of looser Leftards.
ANON = Angry Nazi in Oba-mao Nation
Well now you anon are the product of Government Schools. 10 million people on line and we get the city fool with his comments.
I was glad to see my Rep.Steve King in the line up
Hopefully we can hold out until Nov. and get a few more like them in Iowa and around the country
I've always been appalled at how the Dems treat other people. I was amazed at how condecending they were. Also, what's with the personal sob stories that everyone of them had to drag out? I heard that the farmer story was actually the politician's brother-in-law. My dad's had leukemia for over 7 years and has received the best treatment he could have ever asked for in our health system. My assistant had thyroid cancer this year and also received the best medical care in the world. Why change the fundamentals of the best system around? Fix those things that need fixing, but don't scrap what's really good about our healthcare system.

Now that the Progressive cancerous disease has been exposed, I’m almost brought to tears when I look back and see the destruction to our liberties, and the exposed evil of the leftist machine. They are like rats in the night coming to steal our Constitution. Little vermin nipping away at the dream of our Founding Fathers – acting like snakes-in-the-grass. I feel like a fool for not acting sooner, but thank God for those like Glenn Beck that have helped me to see the light, and hopefully, the path to liberty again.
On February 25, the Republicans gave as good as they could to an unlistening, uncaring, dismissive opposition. Nothing but an Obama kangaroo court fiasco orchestrated by the chief narcissist was perpetrated. The real 'Summit' will be in November. The streets will be strewn with the progressives and rinos evicted.
I am an Independent, fortunate to have never voted for a Party or Candidate that has damaged this nation as have the republicans since Nixon.(remember "I am not a crook..", And Reagan the two bit actor who cut a deal with the Iranians to defeat Carter, and the same "Slick" Pres who threw Ollie North to the wolves when the excrement of the South American/Iran deal went bad and ended up in the white house under Ronnnys desk., How about "read my lips" Bush who took the 5 trillion debt Reagan ran up, and ran it up another trill…..not to mention the same Bush's dumb younger son, Dubbya who started a bogus war, just to show his daddy up, and ran the Natl debt into the trillions after Clinton has cut the deficit down to 50 billion , this gump was a total loss, probably the dumbest president this country has had, or will ever have. As for the Great things the Repubs have done for America, they allowed millions of jobs and even factories to be shipped overseas in order to have Greedy big business increase their profits and CEO salaries, as well as encouraging wall street and big Banks to make risky investments, in the name of Greedy Profit Margins. These are the Same Repub neo-cons that have recieved millions from the Med industry Lobbies and are fighting the Democrats who are working to provide HCR for All Americans, Jobs for those who lost their jobs due to Repub who are serving Big Business
at the expense of our Nations Security and Welfare. Friend that is not backbone, ;you see, those are Bones from their skulls stuck in their Anus. You Need to look up Fascism if you intend to use the word Intelligently.
I'm and Independent, and I might vote for a republican in 2010 and 2012, if he's honest, intelligent, and an
American Patriot….which I have not seen much of in the current pack of sheep.
Thats my 2 bits for your winning party.
You are right. Ask any average American if they have known anyone in their family or friends or employees who haven't had to deal with huge medical issues (or are currently taking care of elderly parents). I didn't need to listen to "dem's constituant" stories during the meeting to attempt to get sympathy to "shove through" their bill.
I can only hope the dems (and RINO's) start getting the message. No one is safe this year, or future years.
She knows her stuff, that's for sure.

Here's my two bits for you~~Go To Hell, coward. We don't need assholes like you who stand for nothing and bitch and moan from the sidelines, pansy-f*ck.Don't worry, though. It's people like us who will win back and secure our freedom for us and our future generations.
As for the use of the word "Fascism", I know very well the meaning of the word.Pull your head out of your ass and go back to High School for a remedial History lesson, but not revisionist history. If you weren't such an asshole, living in the dark, you could learn a lot from the people on this site, but, alas, you appear to be as hopeless as any other Progressivs/FASCIST troll pig.Have a nice day, shithead.

You're blocking dude, tell us what you really think!
The obvious troll is obvious.
Off with their heads!
All I can say is that the biggest victory of this entire debate is that we're getting Anon to spend more of his precious minutes of life repeating the exact same thing over and over again.
Question: Since you've closed many of your post with variations of "God, Conservatives are stupid" Anon, and you claim that Americans are not stupid, then how do you rationalize the fact that the majority of Americans are conservatives. You can't have it both ways. Either the country will willingly buy into the liberal BS or they won't.
Anon has a severe case of unrequited love for conservatives. I can't think of any other reason he would spend all his time surfing the site, making his little comments that are only variations of "Conservatives are stupid" or "Conservatives are crazy".
That's the first time I've actually heard Michele Bachmann. I like her.
Man, I dig Bachmann. She is so cool. So right on.
You call yourself an independent, but then go into an ultra-liberal tirade. That, in itself, screams, “I’m full of $hit!” And somehow you claim Republicans harm our Nations Security, yet it was during the Clinton administration that military secrets were leaked to communist China and it is the Obama administration that wants to cut back on missile defense. It is freedom that ALLOWS business to go overseas, and liberal policies that drive them to do so. Just listen to how you are portraying “Big Business” to be these dastardly villains, deserving of punishment. What business would want to operate in a nation of threatening morons like you? Please don’t waste our time with your crap.
Just listened to M Bachman and I didn't hear a single "looney" word.
Did you actually listen to her Anon?
Nope, your vote for a damned fringe party candidate, or whomever the bloody hell you stupidly vote for, gave us Obama and probably Clinton as well.
Your patently ridiculous talking points about President Bush the younger, are moronic; as are the "neocon" remarks, the crapola about Skull and Bones, that the GOP favors Big Business and the rest.
The Goldman Sachs connection is to the DEMS and Obama.
President Nixon was NOT "a crook" !
The dumbest president ever is Obama, with Jinny Carter being a close second.

Nice to see my representative, Brian Bilbray, get a posting like this. I went to one of his town halls and walked away impressed. He answered all questions, including mine, and showed an enormous mastery of the issues and process.
It is hard to call all politicians crooks and slime after meeting a terrific professional like Brian Bilbray.
You speak as if the libtards have a credible spokesperson. Would that be Rangel, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, the late Murtha or whomever. You gotta have a better game than that.

BIGGER THAN YOU CAN BELIEVE!
People are not only really pissed off about the proposed healthcare bill as it stands, they are greatly upset about the process and how this bill was cobbled together; without any bi-partisan Republican input, the back-room sweetheart deals to buy the votes from moderate Dems to get it to pass (The Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana purchase, Gatoraide). If the Democrats try and ram this bill through using "reconciliation", not only will every sorry assed Democrat be expelled from Congess next election, there will be revolution in the streets because they don't listen to us and it seems that they think that they know what's best for us. This arrogance will lead to the Democratic party being thrown out of power, probably for a generation. Why are they willing to follow this embarassment of a president off a cliff?
Yeah, and not even close the the Islam educated and trained President obama out to finish the job started by his Islamic-brothers known as the twin-tower bombers! I mean, talking about the inept G.W. Bush being behind it and all that! Really? I'm not a G.W. man either, because obama is just better educated or maybe smarter, or even possessed?

Bachmann is a very smart capable leader! The thing I dont understand is how come none of the leadership at the summit came out and put it to Obama about the wether this bill is even consitutional. Obama is supposed to be some consitutional wizard, they should have asked him point blank, what part of the constitution permits a mandated purchase of mediacal insurance? How exactly is this bill going to do what you say it is going to do?
Are they going to try invoke the interstate commerce clause? The constitution clearly states that the federal government is a government of limited powers. Ever since Woodrow Wilson was president, we were given the Federal Reserve Act, Prohibition, and the Progressive Income Tax. The administrative state was born. This is where the federal government morphed into something it was never intended to be. The use of the administrative/regulataory body to circumvent all that is constitutional, that coupled with loading the Supreme court with progressive minded judges. We have gone from a free nation to a nation that is riddled with one collosal failure after another.
The government cannot keep you safe.
The government cannot pay your mortgage
The government cannot keep you healthy
The government will continue to be a collosal failure when it sets out to do what it was not designed to do, and it is only a matter of time, because of these failures, that they come out and say, ' we have progressed out of our constitution, we are too evolved for that document."

We Americans need to take strong Multi-pronged, nationwide Action! We need to hit this administration from all sides with the help of our amazing Republicans who can start the DELAYS with propose Addenda, which can stall this Monstrosity until November! If pelosi, obama,& reid have the unmitigated nerve to force this Bill on us against our will, then we are Justified in using every single legal tactic to BLOCK IT! LETS ROLL! Lets start with protests in the form of letters, marches, phonecalls, blogging!, YouTubes! (thank you Republican leaders. We LOVE yours!) An onslaught of Emails, Tweets, and public demands for impeachment. How acceptable are the Democrats in their procedural attempts to ram this thing? Lets stop them at every turn. Lets tangle them up in Congress. Our Republicans proved to us at the Summit that they are intellectual masters. Together we can tie these monsters up in their own Web and defeat these Sociaists! LETS ROLL! TeaPartyNurse, NJ
We did not get here by accident or mistake. The powers that be want you to believe that we have gotten to this point because of faulty judgements and mistakes. However, we were herded very slowly and carefully to the fiscal and social disasters that we face. All of the problems we have are a result of planning . The Fabian socialist movement began in Britain in the 1880's, and quickly spread to the USA. It is also known as incrementalism, the idea being that you slowly phase out freedoms and liberty, while introducing socialism. This requires a system wide implementation of an actual plan, so essentially, none of our problems are by mistake. This was all done deliberately because you have been too free and too wealthy for too long, and it's not fair to the rest of the world. Free countries always make socialist countries look bad. So instead of making the efffort to free people accross the globe, it is MUCH easier to destroy the only country that stands in the way of global tyranny.
People do not realize that this bill is about power of the unions…deals with pharma, insurance companies, doctors, all made behind closed doors, and government control of the populace. It is not about worrying that people don't have insurance..that is political rhetoric by the Dems. This bill was crafted way before the election of Obama by the unions; left wing radicals and lobbyists so with all this B..S. by Pelosi, Reid and the rest, it is not true. They know their window of opportunity to pass this monstrosity is closing fast, and that is why they will go against the American people's wishes. They figure, O>K> let some Dems fall on their sword and ruin their careeers, so what! But, I don't think the Dems in the house will fall in line..this is a complex issue, and if they use reconciliation, that is only 20 hours of debate! This is an outrage. We don't know what is in the bill.l and the more people find out, they are rejecting it en mass…This is about control..remember that folks. That meeting was theatre..I watched it totally and was so annoyed at the way the Republicans were treated, and it didn't come across that the President was listening to their suggestions..it was an exercise in futility..The Dems agenda is to pass this monstrosity, and they will try to get it done. But, I believe the people of this country will demand if they do, that after the Republicans take both house and senate, that it be repealed…It can you know and I believe also that it will be fought in the courts for constitutionality…it is unconstitutional for the government to dictate that any of its citizens has to do what they want! This is a free republic..the last time I looked, although it is changing rapidly, so this is not a done deal yet people…Call your congressmen and senators, write emails to people on the fence (see list of congressmen and senators who would vote yes at dickmorris.com and fight this…there is still time to shut this thing down

Obama playing the deference card is a weakness of the American system combining the roles of Head of State and Head of Government. A head of government, or Prime Minister, is merely primus inter pares- first among equals whereas the office of President is above all others.
Thus an open forum meeting like this health care charade cannot be on a level playing field. Says something for a monarch? Or, President is purely Head of State and we go a first minister system of government to level the playing field in policy debates?
The role of President in such a system would be much less partisan and much more a symbol of America. Obviously not a role for Obama- actually not a role for many politicians that I can think of. But an intriguing notion. Both houses of Congress could then become debating chambers where the Head of Government is regularly challeneged by the Opposition in "Question Time". The British tradition has this one done right.
ACK…that wasn't the only typo in that post, HC, but "thanks" for pointing out that strangely added "X" . LOL
I am rightfully embarrassed now.
But then, I can pronounced CORPSMAN and know that the USA is comprised of 50 states; unlike Obama. ;^)
The statement I hate is: "our health care system is broken, so let's fix it.By taking over America and instituting outright Socialism/Communism! It's like someone breaking their leg, & socialists amputate it! and cripple the person and make them completely dependant on the government who now controls them totally.
