This is what a pro-union group has to say about Stern.
"Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union and labor's latest celebrity, seems to be resurrecting a neglected ideology: the concept of a militarized "democratic" centralism. For him and his followers, the hope of imposing it upon a newly invigorated labor movement may be a utopian illusion. For union democracy, it is a nightmare."
<a href="http://www.uniondemocracy.org/UDR/170-Sterns_illusion_and_democracys_nightmare.htm" target="_blank">http://www.uniondemocracy.org/UDR/170-Sterns_illu...</a>

Sounds like Stern is to unionism what Obama is to our nation....a nightmare to democracy.

What a freaking liar!! Americans need a raise? What raise would employees get if the "Employee Free Choice Act" passes? They'd lose money on union dues and would lose their right to a secret ballot. Why would unions support taking away health benefits from members (usually employer paid benefits)? If you read between the lines, the story seems pretty clear. One reason people chose to be in a union is because they get better benefits (like health ins.), The unions are all supporting single payer, why? Wouldn't that make them less important to workers? If nothing else, it would definately leave one major thing off the table in collective bargaining. However, that is where card check comes in. The unions and the gov't are making a deal on this (unions support single payer/Obama supports card check) and workers lose on both issues.
