Unions Hire Non-union Picketers?
by F. Vincent VernuccioThe Mid-Atlantic Region of Carpenters (MARC) is notorious for hiring non-union workers to walk their union picket lines. These paid non-union picketers are usually given minimum wage and no benefits.
In an act of pure hypocrisy MARC protests are targeted at construction companies they are claim are not paying a “living wage.”
The union has over 150 pickets around DC and Baltimore. Yesterday the Competitive Enterprise Institute sent a camera to document one of these pickets.

Obama's plans and plots always come back to unions.
Increased government pay… for union employees.
Increased pay for teachers… who are unionized.
Increased green jobs… so long as the jobs are union.
Government purchase of auto companies – so union benefits and payrolls and retirement funds are kept.
Increased healthcare legislation… giving union employees more power.
Acorn and Project vote… are funded by unions.
The stimulus money went to… unions.
No matter what, it is the progressive unions who benefit the most from Obama's wasteful and destructive policies.
Well, as was proven yesterday, Union Labor cannot spell "America".
Perhaps the Unions have come to the understanding that Non-Union Picketers can just do a better job?
We should ban unions from all state, local, and federal government jobs. We should legalize "company unions" which many other nations have… an optional union that employees can join which is affiliated with or owned by the company.
GM is trying this in a back-handed way, since the union now owns the company. But they don't know how to build, only destroy.

These picketers should form a union. They shouldpicket the union work locations and businesses until they receive at least $25/hour to picket as well as free health care and a free bus ride to the picket location. I think I'll go up there and unionize them. Then there will not be any picketing allowed, unless it's by a picket union member (PU for short).

This is another case where I wish there was a consortium of retired and independent, in this case carpenters, that could be called on to break through the picket. Call it a union of independent contractors to bust up the corrupt union cartels.

This is old news. A year or so back, I read a couple of stories in the local Carmel California newspaper about the Carpenters Union local hiring non-union people to picket an elementary school that was having work done by non-union labor. One story was about complaints by parents of the big inflatable rat the union was using scaring children that were attending the school. The other concerned the poor working conditions of the scab pickets along with the possibility that they might have been illegal immigrant day labor.
I have been meaning to organize, collect and post the pictures I have in San Diego of non-union labor workers protesting for the union. I had this one on my phone and uploaded it my picasa web album. I think the rest I have at home but I"m 2300 miles from home at the moment. These signs are all over Carmel and Sorrento Valley San Diego, but Studley just seemed like a funny name for a company. Guess I'm not up with the times but I remember the union thugs used to beat up non-union workers. Didn't the unions refer to them as scabs?

Mr. Vernuccio, nice post. Next time these folks ask you if you're hiring, tell them yes. Hire some of these folks for $9-$10 per hour to infiltrate and document the union picketing process. Give them hidden cameras and such. Make them part of the solution.

A new Gallup poll released Monday shows Republicans with a record 10-point edge over Democrats on the "generic ballot" test — the question of whether voters prefer a Democratic or Republican congressional candidate. It’s the largest GOP polling edge at this stage in the 68 years of the generic ballot poll, Politico first reported.
The news is so discouraging an increasing number of Democratic strategists now say privately that they fear the House is already lost, Politico reports.
The Gallup poll, coming at the end of a brutal August for Democrats and President Barack Obama, reinforces the rapidly forming prevailing view that the horizon is as bleak for Democrats as it ever has been.
The 51 percent to 41 percent edge Republicans have now represents the largest Republican edge heading into a mid-term election since the poll was first conducted in the 1942 election cycle, giving them greater reason for optimism than in the weeks leading up to their 1952 and 1994 House takeovers.
For the SB1070 protests in Phoenix this summer, LaRaza bussed in illegals from California to march in the Phoenix protest. i am sure they were paid well below union rate and even below minimum wage. In this case they even under-cut the 'jobs' that could have gone to local unemployed and homeless people. ACORN has done the very same thing, perversely protesting minimum wages when they paid their rent-a-mobs below that level,,,hypocracy at it finest.
BTW: you will not see this in any other media,,,,the protest in AZ failed, the boycott of AZ failed. Our tourism industry released data for May, June and July and in each case our rates were between 10-12% higher than the same a year ago. Additionally, we saw a reduction in our illegal population of somewhere around 100,000,,,which means: less crowded classrooms, few welfare recipeints, fewer anchor babies being born for free in our hospitals, shorter wait times in emergency rooms, and a reduction in crime. All in all a grand slam,,,despite the Obama admins attempt to stop it,,,,it still worked and is still working even without authorization or implementation.
I'm riding in YOUR limo! We'll limit the cubans to just 5 each per day and $50 bills… Don't want to be exactly like those socialist union leaders.

On a side note that I noticed lately to, but havent most of these union protest become even more meaningless lately. In that they have little to nothing to back up what they are protesting and are more so just paid to protest some subject than actually believing in what they are protesting.

The difference between conservatives and progressives is like night and day. How is America supposed to come together when one side is so corrupt and hateful. I for one will never trust a progressive. NEVER. So without me bowing to thier wants and needs there will never be unity. The left will never stray from the path of transforming America into thier vision in which I will never support. How do you make a segment of America accountable when they refuse to even acknowledge that what they are doing is destroying America. Even if all thier representatives are removed is that going to change thier heart? I don't think so. The wirlwind is coming.
To this day I still shake my head in disbelief that Obama was able to ram the reorganization of GM through the courts in total defiance of years of bankruptcy precedence. The unions (unsecured creditors) were given preference over the secured creditors. When confronted with the upsidedown result of the Union essentially owning the operation, they realized this was untenable because they would have to make their unreasonable demands of themselves. This is why they unloaded enough of their stake to us the taxpayers so they could maintain their (mathmatical) minority status. Truely amazing!!! Why has this not been taken to a higher court?? Further evidence why they were in such a rush to get it done

I am simply flabbergasted about what the Federal Government is doing, with turning Arizona over to the UN Commission on Human Rights. brewer stressed the point about places like Cuba and Libya sitting on that Commission. i really liked when she said she would use "any and all means, legal and "otherwise" to fight this. You could tell the next question Greta wanted to ask, contained the word "secession", but she didn't ask it.

They don't even try to hire non-union workers that look like they could be part of a "Carpenter" union. I'm no expert, but I serious would doubt that several of the men and women on that line would be capable of swinging a hammer.
That it is, then again, I never had any sympathy for the unions anyway public or private. Yet, as our economy gets worse and we keep loosing more jobs and cutting back more, the unions like the spoiled douchebags they are just keep demanding more and more even when there is no more to give/take from others.
I guess you are well aware of this to, is that no union can survive on its own, they must leach money off of some source to survive even if its means that source will end up going bankrumpt. They are nothing more than an unneeded worthless parsite on our economy.

Good observation CL! This is a continuation of the Obama state department apology tour. They did this earlier this year with the Chinese when a state department progressive hack used AZ as an example of how much 'we' need to do in the area of human rights. They are operating on the assumption (false pretense) that to make headway on human rights that we need to show how we are also guilty of transgressions. They operate from the point of view that this is how you come to an agreement with tyrants.
dictators ONLY respect strength in their opponents. Equivocation is seen as it is,,,a weakness to be exploited. I pray that we don't see the result of this twisted approach in the form of another attack on our soil.
Just another great example of why unions are no longer valid representatives of the working man. They use fraud, intimidation, and hypocrisy. Sounds just like our congress and current administration. Birds of a feather flock together. In this case vultures and buzzards.
Just goes to show there are American Citizens out there that will do just about anything for money even if they do not know why they are doing.
I'm sure that they were just hoping to help out the illegals for Obama. If they had shown up for the jobs, they would have been given priority. It was Bush's fault if they didn't. Union management on the whole, is abusive and does not represent their workers opinions in a lot of issue, nor could they care less what the members think. Union activity should be restricted to helping negotiate contracts and seeing that employees are treated fairly. Most unions are not needed anymore, although there are a few exceptions.

I just pulled this from Drudge.
The UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers union) used to do this all the time too – probably still does. I managed a supermarket in upstate New York that was non union and they paid people five bucks an hour to stand outside with picket signs. It was funny to watch these same picketers laying down their signs at 5:00 and coming in the store to shop. I even asked one of them once, what they were picketing, and they said they had no idea.
The UFCW was and probably still is one of the most corrupt unions in the country, and that is obviously saying something.

This is a good point. Investors may still have open court cases against this, and if so it is not a lost cause totally.
Remember that the POTUS will promote judges, and the congress can eliminate their positions.
All we need to do in November is remember the judges who defied the constitution, such as the gay-marriage allowing liars. We remember those who took union funds in their elections.
Then we remove their courts from the court system, or impeach them outright.

Unions are a big business just like other private enterprises. Originally, a union represented the best interests of its members. Now, it seems that they are just the same as any other service industry. They are more involved in lobbying and politics all for their self-interest and not necessarily the union members. This article only emphasizes their hypocrisy.
Wonder if they will hire old retired guys…gotta check into this!

The Carpenters Union here in Idaho does the same kind of things all the time. They hire temps from a labor service to hold the signs etc… To add insult to injury they also picket places and businesses that have nothing to do with the dispute. Not long ago they got some very bad press from a picket line at one of our local elementary schools, as they were scaring the kids traveling to and from school. Idaho law says any work done for public buildings etc… has to go to the low bid, they should have been picketing the Capitol Building, and not scaring the heck out of our kids. It's sad to see they play the same despicable games all over the country. They should be ashamed of themselves.
