Big Labor’s Big Disappointment
by F. Vincent VernuccioAuthored with Bruce McElvein
Recently Vice President Joe Biden spoke to the AFL-CIO executive council in Florida. As Ricky Ricardo used to tell Lucy, Labor thinks the Vice President’s “got some ’splainin’ to do.”
The Vice President was defensive saying “I know it doesn’t seem like it, but we’ve come a long way in 12 months … In terms of the NLRB, we’re going to get it done. In the fight for EFCA, we’ve got to sit down and figure out where we go from here…. I think we’re going to get it done.”

The Obama administration and the Democrats in Congress have fallen far short of the promises they made to Big Labor during the 2008 campaign. Unions have not seen any significant legislative victories despite Democrats holding the White House and large majorities in both houses of Congress.
Labor’s top priority, the Employee Free Choice Act, is on life support and both labor leaders and Democrats have acknowledged it will likely not pass it its current form. Other versions have been proposed but none have been introduced.
EFCA, in its current form, would effectively eliminate the secret ballot in union organizing elections. This process is known as card check. The bill would also allow mandatory binding arbitration by government bureaucrats if a contract was not agreed to within 120 days of a union being formed and one side demanded the process.
In January AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka told an audience at the National Press Club he was confident a version of EFCA would pass by the end of the first quarter of 2010. Seeing as it is now March and there is no sign of EFCA, in any version, being voted on, this prediction is very unlikely to be correct.
The different versions of EFCA lead to the next failure of Democrats to deliver to Big Labor. Craig Becker, who was an AFL-CIO, SEIU, and ACORN lawyer, was President Obama’s nominee to the National Labor Relations Board. Unions saw Becker as their white knight in the card check battle. Becker thought, through his position on the NLRB, he could help bring about card check administratively and bypass those pesky congressional votes.
In February Becker failed to receive the 60 votes needed in the Senate and was not confirmed. Richard Trumka is now demanding the President bypass the Senate and appoint Becker by recess appointment.
Rumors that card check would be included in the latest jobs bill were also unfounded.
Finally labor leaders needed to take Obama to the woodshed to prevent Democrats taxing lavish union health care plans. The result was a promise by the administration that unions would be exempt from the “Cadillac Healthcare Plan Tax” until 2018. The current debate over healthcare is not over and this promise too may fall short.
Labor leaders are increasingly sounding frustrated. Politico reported John Gage president of the American Federation of Government Employees remarked in February “Here’s labor getting thrown under the bus again …It’s really frustrating for labor, and a lot of union people are thinking: we put out big time in money and volunteers and support. And it seems like the little things that could have been aren’t being done.”
Trumka summarized the latest jobs bill as a “Band-Aid on an amputated limb”
All is not lost for Big Labor. While they have not been able to get their agenda pushed through Congress, union bosses have been more successful in reaching their goals behind the scenes.
At the Department of Labor, President Obama named congresswoman Hilda Solis Secretary of the Department of Labor. In her last campaign for Congress, four of her five biggest campaign contributors were labor unions – and the fifth was the trial lawyers’ American Association for Justice.
There are plenty of labor union related appointees in place throughout the Administration – for example, Patrick Gaspard, the former political director for a huge SEIU local is now in charge of the White House Office of Political Affairs – the post once held by Karl Rove. Labor officials have been appointed to Obama’s economic recovery commission and the Federal Election Commission.
Andy Stern, head of the Service Employee’s International Union, was the most frequent visitor to the White House according to the most recent list of White House visitors released by the Administration. Conservative groups have cried foul demanding Stern re-register as a lobbyist.
With President Obama, Secretary Solis and the rest in charge, how has it worked out for the unions?
The President has signed not one or two but three Executive Orders with the intent of enhancing union positions. One requires federal contractors who take over from other contractors to retain the employees used by the former contractor – essentially, a federal job guarantee even though the employees work for private companies.
Two other Executive Orders require government contractors to post notices for employees about their rights to form unions – and prevent government contractors from seeking reimbursement for the cost of planning and communicating with their employees about the employer’s opposition to union organization efforts.
Secretary Solis and her political allies have withdrawn for “further study” rules intended to promote disclosure of union finances. After lengthy review and public comment, the Bush Administration issued new regulations calling for more detailed information to be filed by unions and trusts controlled by unions. The disclosure forms are called the T-1, LM-2 and LM-3 forms. These disclosure forms are administered by the Office of Labor Management Standards. OLMS is the office charged with enforcing laws requiring unions to make information available to their members.
President Obama also appointed John Lund, a former professor at the University of Wisconsin’s School for Workers to head OLMS. During the Bush administration Lund consistently argued on behalf of the AFL-CIO for weaker union reporting standards. It seems likely that the “revised” forms will allow unions to hide their expense more easily. The revisions are another reward for Big Labor at the expense of transparency.
Big Labor has a big problem in Congress – but some big allies in the Obama administration – allies that union bosses are using to achieve in the back room what they cannot achieve in public. Still after investing over $400 million to help elect President Obama and other Democrats throughout the nation, Big Labor is expecting a big return.

It would be very bad timing with the poor economy.
I wonder.
What if, just if, big labor, Herr Andy Schtern and the SEIU don't get that big payoff? Will they put a horses head in somebody's bed? Will someone go sleep with the fishes?
This'll be interesting to watch play out.
We the people see what is trying to be perpetrated on us from all sides.

The NLRB is a government organization that should be eliminated. There is nothing it does that the private sector can not do in place of it
Big labor (Unions) are a scam to the american taxpayers, union dues should be invested and used for retirement and pensions for the unions employees there grabbed from, instead dues are used to ram social government, unfair work practies on the american people and business through social idealists like OBAMA, do not let the unions in any deeper than they are.
THEY ARE BAD FOR AMERICA, look at greece and California if you do not agree.
A message for anyone who runs for office, and lies, misleads or sales us all snake oil.
Message to Politicians, Bias Media and Special Interest Groups

Its time for "out of the box" thinking in dealing with all politicians, bias fringe media and special interest groups who are only working for their own interest.
Unions suck. Their purpose has long since been fulfilled; now they exist solely to increase the bank accounts of the union apparatchik. The proles gain nothing except the guarantee that they won't be fired, even if they sorely deserve it.
All that does is raise costs to the consumer, which means they buy fewer things, which means the government gains less tax revenue, which means they raise other taxes, which hurts the average American, etc etc.
Just as lobbyists were once banned from the halls of power (albeit for about three days), unions should be banned from the workplace (permanently). Hardworking, honest Americans (which make up the majority) will thank you for it.
I can't believe anything like card check could even be reasonably considered in the U.S. Congress, this bill is the most anti-American, Communist piece of legislation I have ever heard of. Eliminating the secret ballot vote for representation is reprehensible.
Lets not forget The Stimulus Bill (porkulus), TARP, these were nothing more than a government slush funds to keep government employees paid, government pensions funded etc., and by extension unions. Not to be forgotten, GM (government motors) and the UAW, and on and on…
After seeing all the problems in Europe with their massive union power and the union debt in our own city budgets, hopefully the Dems will see the enemy is not the Republicans but is actually the Progressives. After removing these Progressives / Socialists from office, the Dems and Repubs can get back to bipartisan legislation to unite this country and move us forward.
Probably not a horse, but Barney’s head? That would be more in fitting with their purple colors.
In the 80s, the brand new M1 tank was being built at Lima, OH by Chrysler and the UAW. It was a mess, constant rework to correct shoddy workmanship. General Dynamics took over the govt contract, kicked out the UAW and went to zero defects. The result was the finest main battle tank in the world. Unions need to go away. They do nothing positive for the American economy.
Would that be Barney the Purple Dinosaur, or Bwarney the Quee r Congressman?
This month's Cato Journal from the libertarian think tank CATO Institute is entirely devoted to studies and analyses showing that unions are bad for economies, bad for workers and faciliate discrimination in the workplace. Do you think anyone in MSM will even notice these serious studies. Fortunately, more and more scholalrly work is being done to expose modern day unions for the scam PACs they are posing as workers' ombudsmen.
All union bosses are progessives/Marxists/communists/socialists (had Sweeney and Stern in mind) and the administration is the same. If they get their way, all public jobs and all health care jobs will be unionized. They want the taxpayers of this country to cover their health care, pensions and further perpetuate their existence so they can continue to elect more Obamaos. That is their goal.
CL-
I just posted and got a message the administrator had deleted my message… no foul language or anything I wouldn't say in front of my Mom. I also noticed my typed words appear erratically. Do you think that web site, build them both, we visited might have something to do with this?
I have to second arizonabob. The loss of many of the manufacturing industries and much of the out-sourcing and the associated jobs are largely due to unions, and we have as a result, become a consumerist society, enriching other nations, particularly China and India, and it won't be long before we're dependent upon them to survive. Now that Mr. Obama has the unions in his pocket(or is that the other way around)look for European-style strikes across this country when things get worse than they already are.
I thought they were the same dude or dudette. Just imagine, Barney singing the Barney song. I heard the quee r Barney was hanging out in the gym lately, hoping to meet up with Rahm.
That would be the purple dinosaur. Bawney Fwrank’s head eww…there’s no telling where that things been.
Public employees are the new Nobility. The Second estate in French terms. They have all the privileges and no accountability. The public employees provide muscle for the democrats. It was public employees who provided the numbers for the anti insurance company rallies and none of them use private insurance. They all have fat-cat public plans.
We need to knock these bitches down a peg or two.
i ggot a pocket full of stones.
I'll reply if CL doesn't mind because the same thing has been happening to me and others on here. Infact I was so miffed I just trashed the people at intensedebate and the tech support on here (which I feel very bad about) but i had some very important info and it disappeared. I tried reposting and it disappeared again.
Technology at work or not. My messages wouldn't post after I looked at a profile of someone who had her porn pics on here, which I reported. After that things seemed to be ok. Who knows what happens on the server side with all these posts etc. It's a mystery but I think we are owed an explanation.
I just replied to you and my comment was deleted by the administrator whoever she/he is. I think we are owed an explanation.
Very strange and I am not sure how to contact the admin on this site.
Go to terms of use below and then there is a contact link. Good luck, I have never had a response.
U.A.W. = U Ain't Workin'
You know CL….they (him) owe so many favors to so many people, I think it would be driving him crazy by now on how to accomplsih this. I wish they would all go sleep with the fishies. Sharks? That would be more appropriate considering.
OFF TOPIC ALERT ! ……..heard on Savage, Texas school book board went conservative all the way.
HUG A TEXAN !
I heard that this morning on Fox. Towards the end of deliberations, the last remaining liberal threw up her hands and left in disgust.
You posters need to read the last few paragraphs of this article. Obama is building the foundations of granting the unions what they want by signing executive orders and placing his crew in positions to write the federal rules that he wants/needs once the legislation is passed. Many here see Obama's year in office as a failure and he sees it as just the cost of doing business. He sees three more years to lay the groundwork for his "fundamental" change of the country.
This ranting and whining by the unions is just b.s. that distracts the media and "we the people" from the real damage that is being done behind the scenes and in the shadows. This so-called lack of action complaining is just a ruse to we that would oppose these laws so that we will believe that "good, nothings being accomplished about this" when it fact it is and is about to be delivered before we know it.
Just wait…it's coming.
Let's keep this real simple and direct:
UNIONS=ECONOMIC DEATH
More than any other contributing factor to our nation's demise as a world class industrial power it is the UNIONS. Their incessant demands on business have effectively priced not only their rank and file but the business as well OUT OF THE MARKET. OUR MARKET.
Until you can find a legitimate way for American consumers to pay the HUGE premium for anything the unions pollute, consumers will continue to look for better and CHEAPER. GET A CLUE unions, if you continue your parasitic ways the host you suck the life from WILL DIE. Our present circumstances should be evidence enough of that!
The lib media is spinning it like that is a BAD thing. I love the fact that there is some place in this country that is taking a stand in preserving traditional values. California values got us to where we are today, and I HATE IT!!
They continue to villify the banks and wall street in the bail-outs when the reality is that it is the UNIONS who were the only real benficiaries of everything.
That cocks*&%$er Stern's quote," If we can't use the power of persuation, we'll use the persuation of power…" Bring it on, Hard tongue.
Please don't blast me for this post which is off topic but I thought it was important enough to write about. Let me know what you patriots tink about this:

So MUCH secrecy and we pay all their salaries!!
I believe you summed it up perfectly in that last paragraph gilmore, it IS an act
It’s working out great too…
Bad, bad images…I must blind myself now!
It has happened occasionally to me and a few others have said the same thing. What I tried to post was pretty benign really…at least in my mind…I have seen worse with trolls.
And to think that Unions were on their way out before the Apparatchik in Chief was elected…now we have been set back many years in dealing with their crapola.
There is so much I want to say, but if I did, I'd be in big trouble, so I'l just type and whistle . . . .
That Apple Tampon hits the schools what Texas does will not matter much, digital ink is cheap.
To the Editor:
Submarines have always fascinated me. Their role in the last century cannot be overstated. From the simple man powered submarines of the civil war to the USS Nautilus’s journey under the North Pole to the modern submarines that form a critical part of the US nuclear deterrent. As over engineered as these ships are, when a torpedo hits, decisions have to be made to save the ship. Sometimes those decisions have to be made under extreme stress, and the result of the orders leads to the death of fellow crew mates. As one space fills with water, pulling the ship inexorably to the bottom, a sailor in the dry space must close the hatch to save the ship.
The United States is analogous to a submarine wounded by enemy action. Instead of an enemy firing a torpedo, we, via all of our poor political leadership have fired one upon ourselves. The political classes collective record, how ever well intentioned, has lead us here, through massive spending, borrowing, and making promises to citizens that cannot be met. Character at a point of pressure is the most important asset a leader, officer, or soldier possesses. Why? Because sometimes it is necessary to close the hatch to save the ship. The question to my mind is which party possesses the capacity to do that now.
While the collusion of both parties are to blame for our sinking ship. It is the Republican party that is desperately trying to close the hatch and save the ship. The Republican party is standing against three pieces of legislation that will forever resign this nation to a continual decline and eventual ruin. The first is commonly understood to be “health care,” this legislation will forever alter a citizens relationship to their government. If it passes medical attention will become a right that must be met by force of law. As the saying goes, if you want to make something expensive, make it free. The failure of this solution to meeting the medical needs of people is deeply felt by those who lost loved ones because the English or the Canadian governments denied vital care. Liberal Democrats have another scheme to launch on the American people this one is called “Cap and Trade” – essentially this nightmare would allow the federal government to tax a citizen when they drive, breath or turn on the light switch. Kirsten Gillibrand has personally advocated for it in the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal, I assume Senator Gillibrand expects that by creating the next Wall Street scam will lead to voluminous campaign contributions on the back of the American taxpayer. Finally, there is “Card Check,” this gem would eliminate the secret ballot from the process by which a business goes from being a non-union to a union shop. Thus, the Union leadership would be in a position to put massive pressure on those who voted “no.” Republicans have stood, and are standing against all of this – in fact on the “Cap and Trade” front Republicans have earned bipartisan opposition to it.
All the while the water is rushing into our ship and the choice must be made in nine months; will the citizens of this great nation choose to stand with the leadership of the liberal democratic party, that is trying to keep the hatch open, so we all go down, or will the American people choose to stand with the Republican party, that is trying to close the hatch? I have confidence that the American people are ready to not only support the Republican party, but help close the hatch and save the ship. America is ready to sacrifice all but our liberty and our economic freedom – this has, and will always be true, and has happened in the past, it is “We The People” leading the charge. Right now the only organized political party that has the capacity to close the hatch is the Republican party.
It's going to pass – they will showed it down ouor throats withiut any care for the Constitution at all nor the Americian people… Where are all the lawyers to defende the Constitution? I've called and told their assistant to ask the congremen "Where is your duty to UPHIOLD and DEFEND the Constitution?? Where ???

HA!!
With Andy Stern at the helm of the new American government-sanctioned (read mandatory) national union your Nautilus/nation will kamikaze into the ocean floor faster than a greased javelin.
I thought I was about to be banned, I've had so many auto-deleted. It's nice to know I'm not alone, I guess, but it would be nicer if they fixed this problem, and soon.
And Hussein's actually quite shrewd, devious and brilliant (as far as fascist/Socialists go). Oh how I wish he was the clueless dolt I want him to be. I fear the breaking point is nigh upon us.
Let's see if I can get past the 'auto-delete' censor and try to post again……
Sadly, it is all an act. I wish he was the clueless dolt I want him to be but the reality is that Hussein's a shrewd and brilliant manipulator (as far as [admin deleted][admin deleted] go).
404 error.
Unions are SOOOOOOOOO 19th early 20th Century. They need to be abolished as there is legislation today that protects workers. Unions are the reason products are so costly. Unions DEMAND from employers higher wages, limited scope of each job function, generous benefits and retirement packages and more. All of these expenditures raise production costs which companies pass on to each of us in the form of higher prices in order to make some kind of profit. All companies, small and large businesses and Mom & Pops operate with the goal to make a profit. Nothing wrong with that. It’s capitalism. Unions need to be abolished. Then the government should provide tax breaks to all companies PROVIDING that they bring their manufacturing back to the U.S. and employ our citizens. This would lower unemployment and stimulate the U.S. economy. Now if only the people in Washington would get the message.
I remember working jobs with a union crew. We had a rep for being fast and efficient except for the crews requiring a percentage of union dudes. Those guys didn't carry a hammer and a screwdriver, only one or the other. We had to follow some of their ridiculous rules. If we were on the electric team, we couldn't help a scaffolding guy for a second to make things go faster and easier. Unions slowed us down and made us look bad to the people who hired us for the job. If I had a company, I would simply walk away if the unions took over. It is not about the people, because their is no personal pride in only being the hammer guy when you have the capacity to be more. It is about empowering the admin guys. What is the difference between Big Govt to its citizens and Big Union to its members? Answer, the size of the budget–the people are being used either way.
Very funny. I intend to put him on the other side of the hatch – politically speaking of course. Do you think they gave Hoffa the same courtesy?
im wondering if it has to do with the amnt of traffic at any given time
I don't think so…I think someone doesn't like certain things and they are playing god as site admin…
I have had a troll call me a Zionist whore among other things and I reported them and they are still on the site. I don't think you can get more offensive than that and nothing happens but their comments are deleted. This particular troll Colonel Mustard waits until a stream dies down and comes out after me…he checks my dashboard almost daily.
Relentless. That's what we need to be. Relentless.
That's what the 60's were all about, and that's what the Tea Party movement needs to be about.
Look at the changes their movement has wrought in 40 years. Let's do the same, only move the ball back by the same amount and more.
An Army of Davids, indeed.
I did not know that. Colmustard sounds most un-cool. I notice this Limey Brit's been ogling my profile, now that you mention it. To the Brits perusing this site; my house is my house and your house is your house. Butt out!
Excellent analysis and summation! The introduction of collectives into the workplace invariably produce as first fruits a decrease in incentive and productivity. Unions are quite the perfect tool for grooming a dependent class.
I've noticed that entire posts have disappeared and the only objectionable thing, if you'd call it that, was the word 's o c ! a l ! s m'. Maybe Janet Napolitano and her goon squad have been hammering this site.
Obama is an equality guy. Unions. Citizens. Economy. Healthcare. Screw everyone equally.
He is a sly one. He is a pretender at times and then turns on you when a comment stream is dead…interesting troll really. Not sure why he operates that way…I guess he gets his jolly's that way. Its interesting he has been checking you out too. Galtfan has him checking him out a lot too, so there are probably many others. Just heads up when he is around….
I can hear Bwarney now:
Yoo hoo…..Wahm…Wahm…I'm ovah heah, Wahm…
The American people have been "getting it" from this administration, it is only fair that Big Labor bends over and gets it too.
Please see my reply to one of you below. I don't want to duplicate.
Unions are a cancer.Sure they had some good intentions and ideas at the start, but u know what they say about good intentions. They are protected from being fired therefore turn lazy. This bubbles until the cost of everything is 10 fold what it should be for lesser quality. That chased businesses away. How can we compete with lazies driving the cost of everything so high its not even competitive. All of their bloated perks must be paid by someone. So why not sell your votes in return for the WH giving u back triple the money u invested thru false legislation.
I see these guys all the time.6 looking at the hole while one digs. They shot themselves in the foot now we are giving them a bailout too.I dont by union or hire union just for that fact alone.
Thanks Texas Rancher.
What you just described in your first paragraph is exactly what happens to me, on a daily basis. it id frustrating. Probably some of my best comments have disappeared, mid sentence………………
I bet the cost came down considerably too!
But we do need to be careful. President Obama has not forgotten his promises to the Union bosses. If he cannot do it through Democratic means (Senate confirmations, etc) – then he will use other avenues to get these folks into political office. Since none of these offices are directly accountable to the people – they really are then given a great deal of power to implement a pro-union, anti-business agenda.
Unions make up less than 20% of the American workforce. They are inefficient, costly, and full of thuggery – but they also have a great deal of bucks. The only way to counter them is to keep shining the light – and keep bugging our representatives to shut this juggernaut down.
Well, guess I'm wrong…I thought Andy Stern was president and Obumble was
his puppet….When the Unions get out there and complain about not getting what
they want, it always makes me wonder if they are putting on an act, and things are
really going forward the way they want…They just don't want us to know what the
hidden hand is doing…….
they know who Mr Jack Me Off is……..The American People are COMMING
i would blind my self also but the image would still linger
i would but all the Texans i know carry guns
Unions and progressives. Two things that we no longer need. So in time, they will be done away with. The trend has already begun. The Internet allows us to shine so much light on their bullshit.
Apparently he has figured out how to use his opposable thumb as well.
Unions and dismal public management have conspired to reward gummint employees at rates that far exceed their private sector brethren not only at the salary level but primarily in gold plated benefits. The cost for this poor management is born by the taxpayer. The right of free assembly may make outlawing unions difficult but it seems to me that a law banning unions from representing public sector employees may be acceptable. Taxpayers and tea partiers should adopt this plank in their platform to put an end to this organized thievery of the tax payer dollars. After all, what possible employee benefit that doesn't already exist could justify union representation. The entire point of union representation for public sector employees is political expenditure in support of job preservation and expansion. It is in direct conflict with the interest of taxpayers.
Who wouldn't see that once again, Obama has thrown a friend, ally or family member under the bus? That must be a VERY big bus, with so many fools under it! Couldn't happen to a better, more deserving group, the corrupt labor unions! Too funny! Way to go Barry!
I have been having problems with the Big sites comments for a couple of months. Contacted Intense Debate, who just advised I change browsers. My browser will freeze up in the middle of a comment most often. Then, sometimes
do believe you are on to something,…. big running battle with my brother on this,…….
he has fallen hook line and sinker to the apparent notion that this outfit is dumber than a box of rocks,…..
The hidden hand,…. you are so on there cardon.
Gee, do you think they'd return the favor some day? Jack Kennedy was in my opinion offed by a cabal.
Ralph, you and I are from Chicago, we know how they think….lol
I have seen the SEIU help keep my health insurance free, although I am not in the union. I also have seen very good employees in the SEIU. Those people are now the older workers. This is at a hospital.
However, I have also seen the union wage elevate the wage of a non union hospital to keep the union out. I have also seen young union workers paying large portions of their checks to unions and they have to be in the union, no choice. I have also seen workers in the union tell new union employees to work slowly as to not show the others up. I have seen non union employees let go for small infractions and union employees stay employed with tardiness and excessive absenteeism.
Unions protected people from dangerous mine practices and gave miners insurances they deserved. However, mines are no longer UMWA mines and laws arev. In place to be enforced regarding safety and workers rights, so do we really need unions anymore if they drive costs up?
What browser are you using? I have the same problems with Internet Explorer and switched to Mozilla which helped.
He is a bit more evolved I suppose….. ;^) Not the typical slime.
Do not even try to defend the union slackers. We were an extremely safe crew. For the record, we were college students loading in acts to a college forum. The music acts went fine, but when DIsney on Ice or some kind of show like that came in, they required us to have some union workers on the crew. This not only cut out some of the college crew members and the cohesion that goes with a team, it brought in the guys who had the restrictions. For the most part, the guys weren't terrible on their own, they just looked kind of incapable and really lazy. They were mandated breaks–unnecessary for the type of work we did and they could do more than one thing. As a business person, if I can hire a guy who can drive the forklift at the start and finish of the job and set up a truss in between, I am doing better than a guy who can only do one of those things. Especially when the calls are a minimum of four hours and the forklift guy cannot come do his job then leave and come back later. Wasteful of time, money and human resources. Soul-sucking as well. You've heard the phrase "good enough for government work"? It applies to Unions as well. Unions do not create the incredibly talented people I know, they simply feed off of them for the survival of the Union. To what end does an expert pay into a union? They can go anywhere and name their price. Unions protect slackers. Who cares why Unions began? This is who they are now. If you wish to hang safety on the Unions, why don't we get rid of OSHA? Unions are a pet peeve of mine as they bite the hand that feeds them. In 2010, there is no other intellectually honest conclusion. Keep paying your money to feed the beast. The company you are bleeding dry will go under–oh wait, the Obama admin will save you as they have nearly every Union, including the govt ones. Review where the money from the faux Stimulus bill. Let me know if you find any place in there where someone got money who was not a Union shop.
You said it exactly!
Sounds like you were on Power Generating Station job. These are intended to be a slow paced project because of huge Safety Issues.

Cowboy Logic, when I remember to, I write my comment on another form. Then, I just copy and paste it all at once into the comments box.
When I forget to do that, about the 2nd time my comment disappears, I get so danged irritated, I usually just log off the site.
If this is happening to a lot of us, they had better work on it.
Lorben, that is one of the browsers that Intense Debate customer service recommended. But, I am an ornery cuss, and I have a problem with changing MY computer to be able to use a website. I feel like if THEY want my hits on that site, then they need to fix it from THEIR end.
Thanks anyway…
I so understand stubbornness….there go I, but frustration moved me to Mozilla with less than five minutes worth of hassle…just sayin TexasRancher….ur talkin to a redhead here! Can't be more stubborn than that! ;^) but hey what do I know?
Its the browser, not the Intense Debate or Bigs…Internet Explorer sucks…not sure why, but it bogs down all the time. Google Mozilla and download it. It will not bog down like Internet Explorer. I hate all of this need to be on top of computer crap….I just want to do my thing! It will give you a little fox to hit instead of the E and will save you tons of grief…its easy to stay with what we know…I am an old woman…I like safe and easy…imagine how it is with my world crumbling down around me….
Does one dare mention the possibility of communist-ordered sabotage?
Red haired…I know a few of those. I do appreciate the tip. I will not say "never," about changing browsers. Just hate to do that Wonder what it is about the websites that cause the problem….the Bigs themselves….or Intense Debate?
Thank you TexasRancher! My girls tell me that the fifties is the new forty…gotta admit I kind of like that! I wish to be back where my heart is, in Texas! We left when I was five and have only been back twice…I keep trying to get my husband to think about at least wintering down there if we ever have the ability in later years to travel…but with the current state of affairs in this country, I am thinking that will not become a reality…
Lorben, I had a nice reply all ready when IE froze up again! Lost it. Let’s see if I can remember what I said. It’s been a couple of hours…
Are you a Texan by birth? In what part of the state did you live? As you left when you were only 5, do you remember anything about it?
My aunt is having her 98th birthday party in April, and another close relative celebrated 90 in February. If you are only in your 50’s, you are not old by today’s standards. Not at all.
I am not sure if the economy has prevented some of the “winter Texans” from coming this year, but now that I think about it, I didn’t see nearly the number of motorhomes and travel trailers with northern license plates this past fall. Those who were forced to remain up north sure had a hard winter for it.
I am Texan by birth…Corpus Christi. I am a Navy brat tried and true! I do remember some things there as a child. I remember my dad killing a snake and hanging it on a clothes line….I asked him why and he told me that we were having snake soup for dinner. I also remember Padre Island a bit and Hurricane Carla….we were on Base with a ton of people, dogs, cats, birds in cages and the animals were very quiet…I was three at that time. And I remember the stickers there are killer. My mom one day brought a puppy home for me and she was so excited she call out to me to show me what she had. I didn't have shoes on and lost my head and ran across the grass and my feet were loaded with sticker…it was bitter sweet. I have a lot of memories of Texas. I have always loved it and my love for it was deepened the two times I visited it as an adult. I do hope there will be a future for us there someday. I would love to be in a warm climate for at least some of winter and Texas is where my heart is….Where are you TexasRancher? Are you really a rancher?
I love that you have and Auntie that is almost 98…so cool. I want to be like that…with a strong constitution in both meanings of the word…
Check out Mozilla TR, if I can do it, you can too!
This site needs work….I had to rewrite this too.
I am a Texan by birth, Corpus Christi. I am a Navy brat tried and true. I do remember a lot about Texas as a child. We lived on Base most of the time, but I remember the stickers when my mom brought a puppy home for me on time. She called out to me in her excitement and I ran across the grassy area through the sticker patch and had tons of stickers in my feet..bitter sweet…the puppy was awesome and helped the pain. I remember Hurricane Carla, I was three then. I remember being in a hanger on Base and it was filled with people, children, dogs, cats, and birds in cages, cots everywhere and the wind was horrific…I have always loved being a Texan by birth…My love for the state has deepened the two times I have visited it as an adult. I do hope we will be able to spend some time down there in the future.
I love that you have a 98 year old auntie…That is so cool! I want to be really old and feisty someday…tell stories and scare children, on occasion….
Are you a rancher? Where are you in the state? Gulf? Panhandle? Probably panhandle if you are a rancher.
Lorben, you are not "an old woman" when you are on this site! You are a vibrant, wise, and intelligent person. You are ageless!
