Obama to Taxpayers: America Needs More Picnic Tables

Because it wasn’t painful enough to know that the “stimulus” money is heavily used to pay for the union-inflated salaries of thousands of bureaucrats in the states, or paying for jobs in phantom districts, or even better, going to recipients who happily spent it without creating any jobs, now we can see how much of the “stimulus” money is going to pay for picnic tables or to replace the motor of a government-owned boat.
For instance, I can see now that R. J. THOMAS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, INC received 4 different awards totaling roughly a $110,000 in exchange for picnic tables (because we know how stimulating these are)

Check out this website called Stimulus Watch. It allows you to search for contracts and grant awards by state and city, by awarding agency, or by recipient. And they will even have a keyword search soon. The really cool aspect of the site is that once you find an award that interests you, you can vote on whether you are satisfied with it or not, add to the wiki description of the project, and join in the conversation about the award in the comments section.
Oh and by the way, yesterday Earl Devaney, the guy in charge of overseeing economic stimulus spending, went public and said that the White House was too quick to take credit for saving or creating 640,000 jobs. My favorite quote:

Sort by amount, ummm 2nd on the list, 415 jobs at $5,247,427 per job, now does that seem just a tad high?
Look at how many of these high end "Stimulus" grants are labeled "Stabilzation" projects, this seems to stand for "Government Expansion" and pay raises for government peep's

This all makes so much sense. Given how The One & His Followers are intent on destroying the economy, more and more people are going to turn into car and tent dwelling nomads. How considerate to provide ready made outdoor dining rooms for them to gather and share their tins of beans.

The picnic tables are for the coming "Obama Poverty Camps". As the housing industry continues to flatline and more and more Americans lose their jobs and then their homes. Millions of Americans will seek refuge in the "Obama Poverty Camps" where all your needs of food, shelter, and Hope will be met. I hear they'll also have free internet access and MSNBC.
Good one but we have to start lobbying for bailout funds for PORTA POTTIES ! Food is covered under the food stamp program. All set there. Just porta potties and our lives will be completely fulfilled.

Per person portion of stimulus = $2,272
Stimulus total to Florida = 6.8 billion
Total Population of Florida = 17 million
Florida per person portion = $400 – WHERE'S THE OTHER 30 BILLION DOLLARS!!!

My communirty has some great parks. Half the users in the summer are Mexican. They have large families. Forgot to abort their kids and play together. They also don't do as much television. Many other groups do cocooning. Never get out and don't do family reunions in the park.

1. The 2+ Billion dollar "Stabilization" package saved 425 Jobs = 5+ Million per job, seems a tad high?
2. "Stabilization" package seems to be a code for government handouts to government employees, lots of them
3. A lot of this money seems to be going in that direction, and since Government can't sustain these jobs they will have to come up with the cash again to keep them.
4. I understand that Job Retention is bogus, and that creation is even more bogus, but the point in 3 is still an interesting question I havent heard anyone ask Obama about (and probably never will)

You know, a friend of mine provided a dozen picnic tables to a national park as part of his Eagle Scout project. Cost to the taxpayer–$0.00.
It's not necessarily the project in this case (although why this project is so &*() important during two wars and a healthcare crisis is beyond me), but the price tag.

Looked up the two projects in my town: one was reasonable (repairing infrastructure), the other was stupid (developing a energy efficiency program, ie 'greening' the area). That is a great site.

As far as the contract to provide picnic tables, grills. power outlets and fire rings it is impossible to complain about the price without knowing the scope and location of the work. Was it in a public park? A youth camp (Boy Scout, Girl Scout)? To many factors to be counted to see if the government and us got our moneys worth.
