Obama’s Pet Goat Moment
by Tim SlagleFor the Left, one of the most defining images of the previous administration can be summed up in three words “ My Pet Goat.”

If you remember, when President Bush was informed of the second plane crashing into the World Trade Center, while his photo op with school children at the Emma E. Booker elementary school was about to start. For the next several minutes, (much maligned by Michael Moore, in “Faranheit 9/11″) we saw a man confused by the situation. It has been joked about by comedians as him wanting to see how the story ended.
Every time I watch this footage, I always saw a strong man, who knew that twenty school children had looked forward to their chance to read to the President, for weeks. He decided they would not be disappointed. And knowing that this was an attack on the United States, the President did his best to neither disappoint nor alarm the children.
I’ve always imagined his narcissistic predecessor bolting straight out of the room and into a bunker, stepping over any children in his path. In reality, what could the President do? In that moment of confusion there really was nothing that could be done, other than have him sit there uncomfortably, and pretend that everything was normal. It takes a strong man not to flinch under adversity.
After he left the classroom, he went in front of the cameras, for what was supposed to be a prepared speech about education in America, and his initiatives. Instead, he went completely off-script, and directly into a speech that was most probably ad-libbed due to time constraints. He said that this is a difficult time for America, and promised to get the folks responsible.
Fast forward to last week. President Obama was also supposed to pose for a photo op, when possibly the biggest attack on US soil since September 11th occurred. While the other media still tries to sort out the motive for the shooting at Ft. Hood, I think most of us are pretty clear on what “Allah Akbar” means.
But there was no moment of reassurance from this President. Instead, he went into his prepared speech, and made a special point to give a “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow” before he even addressed the issue.
In the President’s defense, I’m fairly certain that the “Shout-Out” had already been loaded into the teleprompter, and the tech didn’t know whether to delete it or not. The tech was obviously eMailed a Ft. Hood statement, but it took a while to get it up.
If you watch the video, you can see the clumsy transition (around 1:38). He stalls for a couple seconds while the new speech is being loaded: “Now, …I have to say though, ..that uhhh,…beyond that… uh I had planned to make some broader remarks, uh about the challenges that lay ahead for Native Americans as well as collaboration with our administration..”
Then suddenly his eyes lock on the right teleprompter as his Ft’ Hood statement begins to roll, and the stuttering stops: “uh but as some of you might have heard there has be a tragic shooting at the Ft. Hood Army base in Texas…”
I think this will be defining moment for this Administration. While he might be unclear on whether this was just a rampage, or an attack on the United States, I am certain that there is no question in the minds of the men and women of our military, that this event only differed from Pearl Harbor in scale.
And let it be known, that from this day forward, anytime a Leftie brings up “My Pet Goat” it will be retaliated with a “Shout Out to Dr. Joe Medicine Crow.”

"a strong man, who knew that twenty school children had looked forward to their chance to read to the President, for weeks. And knowing that this was an attack on the United States, the President did his best to neither disappoint nor alarm the children."
you. cannot. be. serious.
our nation was UNDER TERRORIST ATTACK and his number one priority was not to disappoint 20 schoolchildren, and you see this as a strong point?
This is a parody piece right Tim Slagle?
I can just imagine the call for impeachment if he would have got up and left in a hurry and that would have "terrorized" the childrn' and traumatized them for the rest of their lives. This man has more morality and knowledge in his little finger than the kid we have in office now.
"when possibly the biggest attack on US soil since September 11th occurred. "
get back to us when you have hard evidence. And why is it only "terrorism" when there might be a Muslim involved? Was the murderer of Dr. Tiller a Christian Terrorist, and an attack on US soil?
"I am certain that there is no question in the minds of the men and women of our military, that this event only differed from Pearl Harbor in scale."
FOR SHAME, Tim Slagle. Do not speak on behalf of our nation's military service members. They have their own voices.
SHAME ON YOU, Tim Slagle. For SHAME.
No need to rush to judgment on the Ft. Hood shooter – even though radical muzzzzlims are congratulating him for a fine job.
Even though HIS mosque is a hotbed of radicalism.
Big Sis is watching…….

“As-Salamu Alaikum”
I'd like to give a shout out to Barry Soetero: "YOU LIE!"
the Bush administration made many mistakes- some severe…
But George W Bush was a better man than Obama is. Not eloquent, but determined- and seemingly honest to a fault- what you saw was basically what you got. No need for 'date night', 24 (so far) rounds of golf, and 58 fund raisers (Bush had done 2 or 3 by this time in his term) and other frivolities, he just plowed ahead and did his job.
Took the hits for it, too. Barack will blame others for everything- forever. With Bush it was did he attend all of his Guard meetings. Big scandal- cost Dan Rather his job- and the media wouldn't leave it alone.
A little difference with Obama. Some aren't even sure Barry Soetero is a US citizen- and no one knows of his 'missing years' at Occidental and Columbia. The press has NO interest in that.
So you see the difference. Particularly in the make of the men involved…
Isn't it time for your nap.. you sure are an irritiable baby.__
You just can't stop posting your idiocy can you?
The sad thing, is that you actually BELIEVE that he should have gotten up and ran out and left the KIDS scared because they would have had NO idea, except that The President left them. You clearly don't have kids of your own, or you would ALREADY know you don't do this to kids. And if you do, then I'd hope you'd let someone else raise them.
1.A U.S. President should not give "big shout outs" under any circumstances.
2. Don't gleefully shout out then act mournful seconds later. That spells CRAZY.
3 Know the difference between the Medal of Honor and the Medal of Freedom. Especially if you're the idiot who awarded the medal in the first place.
It's funny how you're on the side of the cliterectomy gang.
Interesting take on Bush in his darkest moment.
This moment would have set the tone for his Presidency. It was a shock but a leader knows how to handle a situation and Bush certainly handled this situation well.
So proud of him. We may hate him but he served his country well.
Why do you people continue to defend obama? Can you not see how he is destroying this country?
I may not have agreed with everything GWB did, but at least I always felt he was doing what was right for the country, not just himself or his party. He kept the office of president dignified. He did not bow down to other country's leaders. He led, not his wife or Chief of Staff. He did not "shout out" or threaten others politically. obama is a puppet, if not for the teleprompters in constant use, we would all see just how ignorant he is.
Yeah, Obama would have invited the terrorists to the White House for a "beer" Bush wasn't a perfect President but he is twice the man Obama would ever hope to be
Shame on you scuzzy – YOU clearly have NO idea what it means to serve. NONE. Are the only "military" people you know the ones that fled to Canada, or threw their ribbons away after they got out because of a pinky cut to get a Purple Heart, and then LIE Is testimony to the Congress?
on 9/11, there were many thousands of scared kids all over the country.
to have stayed with these 20 particular scared children who had teachers and parents who would live to see them and comfort them that afternoon, while a nation under terrorist attack went without it's elected commander in chief for 20 minutes during a time of national crisis,
again, You cannot be serious. I understand Slagle is a comedian. But I just want clarification: is he being serious? Are you? Really??!?!??!
Not only that, but he called it the "Congressional Medal of Honor" when it is simply the "Medal of Honor." You would think the Commander in Chief would know that…..
Pondering the stupidity of scott I recall that in Iran in 1979 it was the Leftists in the Universities who assisted the Mullahs in the Revolution against the Shah.
The Leftists thought if they side with the Mullahs, that that would guarantee them some status in the Post-Shah order.
Well the Mullahs have no use for Leftists and when they got the power they slaughtered the stupid Leftists.
Too bad Scott wasn't a foreign exchange student back then.. instead we have to suffer his pestilence.
I think it's funny that Congress thinks that it has any credible honor to be giving out medals.
While we are on the topic of Joe Medicne Crow, here are a few simply facts: I know him personally. He is the last war chief of the Crow Nation, and the first Crow ever to graduate college. While in World War II he wore war paint beneath his uniform, and counted coup on his enemies. That, is something beyond most folks' comprehension.
Obama said in his remarks that Joe Medicine Crow was a Congressional Medal of Honor recepient, when in fact that is incorrect. Medicine Crow is a Presedential Medal of freedom recepient. Obama should know that, he hung the medal around the old mans neck just several short months ago.
THAT, is Obamas pet goat moment: he doesn't remember who he gave what awards to, and the reasons for which he gave them. Obama courted the Indian vote (yes, we still call them Indians in the west, and they still call us cowboys, and we do co-exist). The Crow Tribe adopted Obama; even gave him a name: "Barrack Black Eagle." The rest of YOU would really laugh if you know what they thought of him down on the Rez……….
I used to be a Democrat, no more after the last few months. Now I am just scared for my kids and country. What hath we brought upon ourselves? I never thought I would say this, but I miss Bush.
At least you knew that Pres. Bush loved this country, would do anything for it and would not go around the world bashing us.
Pres and Mrs Bush, both sets, were class personified.. The Obama's, not so much.
what do you think the appropriate response would be?
Thank you for continuing to post. Every comment shows what a liberal hack you really are, and more and more shows that you have NO REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE when it come to LIFE. What actually did you do before the Internet and who did you cry your rants to?
you are only comparing golf games. for a reason, because it makes Obama appear to be taking more time off than Bush.
i urge you to compare total vacation days. Bush was at his ranch "clearing brush" for the entire month of August, 2001. Just before we got hit.
Shout Out?
What is that, Negro ghetto Ebonics, for "I'm the cool cat hanging on the corner with my white bitches and we all be cool?"
Kiss my ass…..
Couldn't agree more with the teleprompter comment. The guy sounds like a bumbling hack when he goes OT (off-teleprompter). He has to say "ummm" a thousand times and measure every word he uses because he can't just come out and say what he really thinks because it would expose him as a communist. Nauseating.
The medal is frequently called the Congressional Medal of Honor, stemming from its award by the Department of Defense "in the name of Congress" though the official and correct title is Medal of Honor.
You'd think a random anonymous person on the internet would know that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medal_of_Honor
Ya know, for all the leftisit vilification of Bush for this moment, I've never heard what they would have had him do instead. What could he possibly have done that would please them? If he had stopped the reading and rushed out, they would have crucified him for mindless panic and scaring the kiddies. You, ScottZ, are the lunatic.
leaving school children to take care of a national emergency is not an impeachable offence.
the commander in chief of the armed forces, knowingly being unavailable during the worst attack on american soil in history because he was reading a book to school children. that might very well be.
Ahhhhh…it took you this long to come back with the "Bush did xyz…so…" Red Herring.
Keep 'em coming, I'm here at work for another 5 hours! The morning went by slow, but now it should be fun!
So Obama has had how many weeks to decide what to do about sending troups to Afghanistan all the while playing golf and campaigning for Dems…real strong leader there too!!
The defining moment of the George Bush Presidency: 9/11.
The defining moment of the Barrack Hussein Obama presidency: ACORN.
Nice Slagle. Did you wake up and say "I think I'm going to throw a case of steaks into a den of hungry wolves."
Now you have everyone all wee-weed about a "Shout out" to Joe Medicine. Pretty funny is the saddest possible way. Teleprompter Tech Guy is probably like John Cusack trying to get out of room 1408.
It's amazing how liberals, such as yourself scott_z, equate the fact that when all do not agree that the liberal viewpoint automatically wins. I can't fathom the logic. Maybe all military service members don't agree with Mr. Slagle's statement but I can pretty well bet that MOST of our service members agree. That is called a MAJORITY scott_z and what makes the statement of the people. That showed in New Jersey and Virginia last week and may show itself again in another year.
talking points, my friend, do not an argument make…
Bush did return to his ranch, yes. You work every day as President. As did Nixon at San Clemente and reagan at his ranch. Conservatives generally have lives OUTSIDE of government. Obama never ahs had one- a life- that wasn't somehow sucking off the hind teat of the taxpayers. So 'clearing brush' was for exercise, not work.
So far all Obama has done is mouth platitudes, take no decisive stands, dither on the war, and let Pelosi and Reid rule- and take the hits- while he conducts an Imperial Presidency.
Wise up…
"So 'clearing brush' was for exercise, not work. "
and golf??? exercise, and meeting time as well.
you attack with one hand what you defend with the other.
So you think the Pres. of the U.S. should have run directly to his limo and picked-up his M-16, in case he was needed to take out a few muslims, or what?
It probably took more than just a few minutes for the Secret Service to get the logistics in place for an unscheduled move by the President. I think his time was best spent with the kids, rather than standing on the sidewalk tapping his foot while he waited for the Suburbans and limos to pull into place.

Dave,
Thats ok. Carnivores need fresh meat. The bloodier, the better………
See, Pres. Bush had this thing called TRUST in the personnel assigned to do their jobs. More importantly, those people under him trusted HIM also, which you can't say is the case now. How many more "meetings" do you have to have to MAKE A F'ING DECISION TO SUPPORT YOUR GENERALS!?!?!?!??!!
As has been asked – please explain what would have been "acceptable" for Pres. Bush to do? Go out and give a speech? Go out and see that all the authorities were doing what they were suppose to be doing – Air Force jets were in the air, ALL other flights were being directed to land. Could he have made those things happen FASTER by leaving? Be honest. You know you can't, because there is NOTHING he could have done that you wouldn't give his $hit for and you know it.
1) Bush shout out
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/12/bush-giv...
2) Bush, fundraising and laughing it up while Katrina hits and survivors perish
3) Common name, common reference. You wanna come to blows every time Bush flubbed a line or a name??? Deal with it.
All this has happened before, and will happen again. so stow your "outrage", it's patently absurd.
neither attacking nor defending. He didn't golf because in a time of war it was unseemly. Obama has no problem with that. Surely you can see the difference? Put down the Kool-aid. This guy's popularity is dropping like a stone, and you know it. His job approval is in th elow 40's and he hasn't been in office a year.
You are making a fool out of yourself…
My understanding is that the title infers that this man "helps his people." If so, I am sure that Barack Black Eagle's parents want to give him back.
"Was the murderer of Dr. Tiller a Christian Terrorist, and an attack on US soil? "
So you think Dr. Tiller was a Christian Terrorist? Odd, I'd never heard that take before.
"Maybe all military service members don't agree with Mr. Slagle's statement but I can pretty well bet that MOST of our service members agree"
on what basis exactly? your "gut feeling" is not fact, nor is it the reality such a diverse group of people that comprise the US military are feeling and experiencing right now.
"liberals, such as yourself scott_z, equate the fact that when all do not agree that the liberal viewpoint automatically wins"
When someone makes a claim, i just expect it to be backed up with hard data, or a reliable source. this is not outrageous. this is how sane, rational people evaluate the validity of claims.
unfortunately, many claims here are completely unsubstantiated.
"He didn't golf because in a time of war it was unseemly."
Bush played golf in 2003. We were at war then.

This is the best you can come up with?
Lefties don't understand about self-control. Bush was able to sit in that classroom without frightening the kids until he was given the word his staff was ready for him to calmly leave.
The fools commenting above will regret the weak coward they elected.
I only hope not too many more people die for their folly.
Yes, finally bringing Katrina into it!!
Do you know Scuzzy, that FEMA is NOT a first response organization? I'll bet you don't even KNOW who is responsible for First Response for Hurricanes and other Natural Disasters (and please don't try to lie, because here in HOUSTON I have first hand KNOWLEDGE of who's in charge of First Response).
Do you know when the Levies broke? Did the possibly break AFTER the hurricane was WAY inland over Alabama (hint: it didn't even hit NO, they only got the outer bands, not even the worst of it because they were on the north west side of the hurricane where the worst is the north east side. Maybe find out where THOSE hit – oh but you didn't hear anything much about that did you? Could it be because THOSE areas actually took care of stuff themselves??)
How many engineers informed NO and Louisiana for DECADES that the levies weren't being properly maintained. And who was responsible for that maintenance? That's right, according to your side, Bush and Cheney were personally there setting the charges to break the levies, right?
I would REALLY quit now, before you dig yourself deeper.
Where does Slagle say that "is it only "terrorism" when there might be a Muslim involved"? True, not all Muslims are terrorists, but all Islamic terrorists are Muslim. It's insanity to insist otherwise.
"and we'll have to take a break here. It was so nice to be able to be with you children today. God Bless you and god Bless America."
then, he jumps in the secret service detail, and is briefed with the details of the attacks on 9/11 and makes executive decisions regarding the security of the United States of America… you know… his JOB at the time.
why is this so hard for you to fathom???!?
Let's see – brother in law stationed at Ft. Hood – but THANKFULLY in New Mexico training for work up to go to Iraq.
Other brother in law about to retire after his 20+ in artillery and mortuary service.
6+ years in the Marines and being a disabled combat vet myself.
Yes, I CAN say I know. Can you?
are you seriously telling me you think it was more important for Bush to be calming those 20 children at story time than spending those twenty minutes being briefed on the 9/11 attacks and making policy decisions about the planes in the air, national security, etc?
are you for real???!?
Cowboy SHOUT OUT TO YA!!! lol funny!
Barry's got a lot of 'splainin' to do.
The Sunday Telegraph has reported the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US soldiers in Texas earlier this week was linked with radical imam, Anwar al-Awlaki, who was a “spiritual adviser” to three of the hijackers who attacked America on September 11, 2001.
Major Nidal Malik Hasan attended al-Awlaki’s Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists.

Now bugger off and go educate your own damned self!
Okay, I'm probably going to be crucified for my opinion, but I just watched the video and I can't get as worked up over it as most of you here. I didn't think the "shout out" was as jokey as I was led to believe it would be, and I don't believe Obama was waiting for his Ft. Hood remarks to be loaded into the teleprompter. He kept looking down at the podium a lot and even turned pages, so I'm guessing he had some printed remarks that were with him the entire time.
I'm no Obama fan, but I'm not going to criticize him for this – it's a no-win situation, same as Bush and My Pet Goat. The real tragedy is what happened at Ft. Hood, not whether Obama responded exactly as I would have done in the same situation.
"If he had stopped the reading and rushed out, they would have crucified him for mindless panic and scaring the kiddies"
ARE YOU kidding me? There was exactly one correct choice to make, and I think we all KNOW it.
Bush chose another path.
"It probably took more than just a few minutes for the Secret Service to get the logistics in place for an unscheduled move by the President"
no, it probably does not. to back up my claim, if the president (or nation) comes under attack, the SS cannot just say, hey wait a couple minutes, we're still getting ready. here ya go, why don't you read a book?
Yours is one of the more absurd claims i have yet to hear.
Sorry, you can't pull that. You would have bitched as much if not MORE for leaving the kids hanging and "scaring" them. You can lie to yourself and say you wouldn't, but you would and we all know it.
But I thought Obama has brain power to the 10th degree. We expected flubs from W. Obama is the most intelligent man ever…… at least that's what DNC is telling everyone. I'm thinking he's not a very smart man.
Wow! You've got BDS bad. You're attempting to knock down a giant so a dwarf will look tall.
"please explain what would have been "acceptable" for Pres. Bush to do?"
what he FINALLY ended up doing, AFTER he finished reading the book. That's what his job is. Not reading books to school children. There is a clear priority that should exist there, and the wrong priority was chosen
Face it, Bush FROZE under pressure.
Doc.
Thanks.
That's kind of the whole point.
Why would he have to WAIT for anything to be loading into the Teleprompter? Can't he say anything on his own?
you you think you and your brothers can speak for ALL servicemen?
The problem is, that when Barry speaks, I have a mental disconnect. He looses me, and I can't follow him. Perhaps it because I don't speak Ebonics, or Swahili.
ok then. what about Christian Terrorist Eric Rudolph?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Robert_Rudolph
um…no.
He continued doing what he was there to do, so as not to alarm the kids. It's something any PARENT would KNOW how to do. And I'll say again, Pres. Bush had people under him that he TRUSTED to do what needed to be done without him having to "oversee" it or give a freaking teleprompter address for. But as you keep showing, that is something you not only don't understand, you will NEVER understand.
you are digging, aren't you? Not exactly a reputable site. Either way, he did cease and desist. Speculating on his knee is silly, you can tape up a knee and golf. It stopped his running and he took up mountain biking instead.
That wasn't pointed out here. Bad site= bad intel.
"FEMA is NOT a first response organization"
it was before they lost their cabinet seat and got put UNDER DHS.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Emergency_Ma...
I vote for the Harvard Law Professor. You are a tool.
Do you get paid by the post, or by the number of replies you get for your moronic statements?
Bwahahahahhahahahaaa
You link something that actually proves your point WRONG in the first paragraph.
"The primary purpose of FEMA is to coordinate the response to a disaster that has occurred in the United States and that overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities. The governor of the state in which the disaster occurs must declare a state of emergency and formally request from the president that FEMA and the federal government respond to the disaster."
So now who is suppose to be the First responders?
how can one confuse the 'Blue Max' with the Medal of Fredom?
Only if you have absolutley NO clue about the difference. Yet more from the Chicago student posing as a President…
With all due respects. The man cannot say one word without a teleprompter. Further, even then they caint get it right. He refers to the Ft. Hood Army Base. I don't know where that is, but the incident in question happened at the Ft. Hood Army Depot.
Obama is so inept, I'd be willing to bet he caint fart without eating prunes………
And you can?
How many military people do you actually know?
And they are my sisters husbands. But then you can't get anything else right, so why should I be surprised at that.
Obama and his cabals are willing to sacrifice a few for the sake of reconciliations with muslim radical extremists. They handed Hasan an olive branch to make him feel inclusive. And so, what did we get? 13 dead and 30 injured.
Here you go again with wikipedia!
Katrina?
You want to babble about Katrina?
Quite frankly, if Bush had been smart, he'd have stationed the National Guard on the overpasses to prevent anyone from leaving, and had the Army Corps blow the levies.
"you would and we all know it. "
that is simply not true at all. to continue to read a child's book in a classroom for 20 minutes while our nation is under attack?
this is simply not how a commander in chief of the US military acts.
My thoughts exactly!
A clueless "poser" living life through his teleprompter.
All this clown knows, is he doesn't have to run out now in the evenings to Popeyes or Churches. He now has his chicken delivered………
If Bush is an idiot then Obama is an itelligent fool
Yes. We got a muslim, who we paid to educate, and when it came time to honor his contract, he wanted out of it.
" Bush had people under him that he TRUSTED to do what needed to be done without him having to "oversee" it or give a freaking teleprompter address for."
ok, so why have a president at all? All we apparently need is a number of people that a president chooses to TRUST, am i right?
HE WAS THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF. WE WERE BEING ATTACKED.
he had a place to be, a duty to perform, and it wasn't reading books to school children.
that you continue to defend the indefensible is curious.
Does he have a mobile teleprompter for Date Night, Golf and talking with his kids?
Only according to you. And it seems its only the wacko libs that have some deep seeded hatred for Pres. Bush.
So when a General YOU appointed asks for more troops, what's the proper response as Commander and Chief (it's capitalized idiot)? MONTHS of meetings?
When a massacre happens on a military base, what's the proper response? WAITING for some words to show up on a teleprompter while giving "shout outs" for the wrong medals?
You have no idea what these people wish for our country. You probably believe the man sneaking around you house at 3 in the morning just wants something to eat and would never rape and murder your wife and kids. pull your head out of the land of sunshine and lolly pops and come down to earth. When someone says that they will wipe the infidels off the face of the earth in the name of Allah they are talking about everyone who is not muslim. A.E. Christians, Jews, Buddhist, atheist,
scotty,
"this is simply not how a commander in chief of the US military acts".
You and I just agreed. The Militant Moocha Muslim Messiah is not the Commander in Chief. He is an imposter. When the feces hit the fan, watch what happens with the troops. I firmly believe that within the next three years, he will be led out of the White House,in shackles, with a Military Escort, and it won't be an honor guard.
only problem is some people- our friend Mr Z included- still take this guy seriously. Any cursory investigation shows you several things:
1) he has huge holes in his 'life story'
2) he has no clue about governance
Sooner or later everyone will see this…
At least Bush took the fight to them. Obama doesn't give a rip about the security of our country. In fact some of the most dangerous people in our country are his frequent guests in the White House.
wa alakum as salaam, sadeeqi. ismee scott. atakallum arabee li anna jalistu fi madinat doha, fi qatar li mudaate ithnayn sanaa.
I have to somewhat agree with you Scott. Bush's response was better than Obama's, but him wasting 20 min infront of the kids was not fruitful. I highly doubt the kids would have been "scared", instead likely disapointed.
I understand mneeding time to absorb what was just told to him, but as soon as he was told about the incident he could have gotten up do to an emergency.
I know many will disagree with me, but I'm trying to look at this fron both sides. But not agreeing completely with everyone else is a right we can all agree on.
Actually, the absurdity is what streams from your keyboard. At the time (you sound like you may have been a child back in '01) nobody knew what was going on. A plane had hit one of the Towers. No terrorist motives were known until an investigation had taken place. As a matter of FACT, we didn't know (again, at the time) that we were under attack. When the second tower was hit, that became clearer, but by then, Bush was already on the move. Bush is ripe for criticism on many issues, however, his response to 9/11 is not one of them (his economic policy of spending was horrid, but unrelated to this).
Was he supposed to go to the Batcave and jump in the Batwing? Put on his superman costume, and fly himself to New York? Hop in an F-16 and shoot down the second plane?
Take your meds, snarkster. Until Ft. Hood, we haven't been attacked on our soil since 2001, and Bush's response was a big reason (bigger than any of us without security clearance will ever know).
that is the current tasking. read about it's history.
What about him. He was a anti-abortion terrorist. I agree. He should be put to death (not life in prison).
Your point? Because he "claimed" he's Christian – all Christians must be terrorists then? The funny thing is – he's NOT a Christian. He might claim he is (and of course the left EATS it up on purpose), but nowhere in the Bible OR it's teaching does it condone violence. You forgive the sin and pray for the sinners.
But see, there are these parts of the Koran that does say that it's OK to kill non-believers. Maybe you should go do more research.
i challenge you to identify a more reliable, free source that i can use to back my claims, and i will cite that source instead.
Obama is the biggest disgrace this nation has ever had to suffer.
to intentionally kill all the people? why?
How many people can you shoot in one minute and 38 seconds?
the most unpresidential president in the history of the us
he will change politics as usual by debasing the office of president
i was merely angry at the carter administration for making everyones lives more difficult than it needed to be
but this man i personally despise for his apparent indifference to anyone but himself – barak hussein obama, a nation of one
he is a lifelong White Sox fan correct?
In an interview during the season he spoke of how much he liked to go to- ready for this?- 'Kaminsky Field'…
Years ago it was Comiskey PARK. It's Wrigley FIELD. Any true fan would know that difference…
There's no purpose for Obama to play 24+ rounds of golf as the president of our country. Golf takes hours to play, it's not a 30 min workout… Regardless what Bush did, Obama was ALL ABOUT "CHANGE"!
I'm curious… Does anyone know how much golf Obama played in the last several years? I'd like to know if his golf playing has increased or decreased.
scotty,
That was cute. You have impressed us all with your profiecency of cut and paste Google usage. For the record, any foreign words, or phrases I use, I know them first hand from having traveled and lived in and with different cultures. I can profieciently tell you how to kiss my ass, in Farsi, Cantoneese, Russian, German, Spanish, Crow, Sioux and a little bit of American.
Which would you prefer?
It may have played out different in your mind if you saw this live. All the stations said they were going to the President for a national speech on the tragedy that happened at Fort Hood. Many including myself thought the networks must have loaded a tape from a previous day as this started. The setup and then the delivery were very confusing. I am still confused, he knew for hours about the Fort Hood tragedy yet his delivery was, as if out of nowhere, this was a news flash just crossing his mind as he was in the middle of a speech. Just my 2 cents.
Sorry, wrong. That's ALWAYS been FEMA's position. To back up and help when LOCAL authorities need and call for help because the disaster is too big.
You can't seem to understand that wiki is written from the PRESENT about what, as you keep proving, people seem to think it "should" be, and not what it was suppose to be. But then again isn't that the way it is with Libs and all government programs. SSI – is NOT meant to be a retirement program, but boy they lied to enough baby boomers into thinking it was and they didn't save enough themselves. Welfare/Food stamps – meant to help out the most needy, but now people can get them, even though they have 4 cell phones, two cars, computers, high speed internet and cable with extra movie channels.
You're starting to show your age in that you are believing the modified history being written about things. You should listen to people who were actually around and know what the original intent was.
scotty,
You are soooooo transparent.
Of everything written here, I knew that would draw you out, and you would focus on that. Zoom right in on it, like a recepiente' waiting for his free cheese and butter.
Give it up scotty. It is no longer about Bush. It is about your Militant Moocha Messiah, and his innefectual inept irreverencies.
Obongo lost his mojo. The boy be impodent….
I voted for President Bush, twice. There wasn't an alternative that I could RESPECT or TRUST to hold that office.
I don't agree with a lot of Mr. Bush's policies..BUT, I never questioned his love for his country, his respect for the Military, or the willingness to protect this country from wackos inside and outside of our borders. President and Mrs. Bush served as a respected and competent First Couple without a need to be on the TV, 24-7. The were a grounded and refreshing change from their soap op[era-like predecessors.
So you admit backing your claims with UN-reliable sources now? Yet you believe them 100%?
Charles,
You are right. A Nation of ONE.
Populated by an idiot.
"So when a General YOU appointed asks for more troops, what's the proper response as Commander and Chief (it's capitalized idiot)? MONTHS of meetings?"
as opposed to the review for all previous requests for troop increases to AF since OCT 2001? How many requests have there been? How many accepted? HINT: you ain't gonna like the truth.
and you did read about the massive war games and strategies that the Obama administration are being investigated during that time, right?
He won't release his scorecards.
Well? What is it?
YOU brought it up. BACK it up.
If you've been trained in our military–A LOT! That's the point. That's also why he took bunches of extra combat training courses that a shrink would never need in the line of duty.
For what it's worth.
From 9/11 forward, throughout the remaining Bush years, Bush worked diligently to protect US, and he did. From that fateful day forward, we were not attacked on our soil. No American lives were lost, or blood was spilled.
Obama cannot make that claim. Ten months into his regime, we were just attacked. What is Obama going to do about that?
if you honestly do not know the history, it seems absurd for you to criticize, does it not?
and i firmly believe you are insane internet crazy man!
That's because the current First Couple are more concerned with being celebrities, than in being classy. It's about them. The fact that "journalists" get a warm feeling up their legs about the Obamas allows for their narcissism to be constantly stoked by the media. It's the TMZ-culture, reaching the top of the chain in this country. Sad…
Iraq is not Afghanistan.
At least you have a firm belief. That's a step forward for a leftist…
Agreed!
They kept their kids out of the media… he made a decision and stood by it… he stood up for the country…
Obama has been against us since day one.
He's going to appologize to islam for our offenses.
"nobody knew what was going on."
FALSE. When the second plane hit, Bush's chief of staff, Andrew Card, came over and whispered in the president's ear QUOTE: "a second plane has hit the Trade Center. America is under attack." But the president remained in the classroom for at least five more minutes.
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0406/17/pz...
Wouldn't you think that Mr. Transparency would have had the sense to ADMIT right off the bat that the shooter was part of his Homeland Security transition team, instead of leaving it for reporters to peel away the skin and make him look Twice as deceitful (if that's possible)?
This guy Seriously needs new handlers – for an Administration that's supposedly so media-savvy, they don't seem to know much about using search engines.
And, of course – no mention during the WH press conference…
You're not getting away with the accusation without facts to back it up.
Obama is an embarrassment. Totally unqualified for the position and he knows it. He's nothing more than a community AGITATOR and a rabble rouser who slick talked his way from one position to the next and on up the ladder without ever learning anything about the position he had attained. A complete fraud and poser. Off his teleprompter, he stutters, stammers and stumbles. He's being used as a prop by the far left. He probably spent his time in the Senate in front of his mirror learning how to read a prompter with nuance. He certainly didn't do anything in the Senate and he admitted it.
Being a Disabled Vet from the first Gulf War and Somalia, I DO have first hand experience. Again, YOU keep wanting US to provide proof – but you don't have to?
I do know History – I WAS THERE!
exactly – it's like he has no mind, no soul…as I've believed from the start, he's a puppet
Yes, Pres. Bush took care of Iraq with the Surge. Which your messiah opposed, didn't he?
Didn't he also say Afghanistan was the "right war"? But now it's waffling and isn't support it?
Yes, it was important for Bush to be there with the kids. Is he going to alarm them for a measly 20 minutes or less when his staff was gathering the information? If you had kids, you would know the answer to that. What has Obama done, besides display his lack of executive skills and his total lack of empathy for those who were killed and wounded? He gives a shout out like he's at a rally? How totally inappropriate.
Another BWahahahhahahahaaa
Relying on Richard Clark for facts? Hahhahahahhahahahaha
Obama was given the info a year ago by the Bush administration. He campaigned on the Afghan War being the just war. In March '09, he adopted the Bush plan. In August, the general submitted his own plan and it took publicly embarrassing the president (unintentionally) to get Obama to meet with the guy for 20 minutes, yet Andy Stern visited the WH 22 times between January and June alone. Something is really wrong here. Obama is not in this for tough decisions; just to enjoy the perks of the job and move this country as far left as possible.
Beautifully put!
So was I dave, Task Force Ripper. What does being disabled have to do with anything, why is it always thrown out there as a defense?
All I know, that as a military member for over 20 years, obama is the first President to scare me. I am actuallly contemplating my options should a new civil war break out because of his actions (or lack thereof). I have no confidence in him to go pick a fight with a 5 year old, much less fight a war. at least with Bush, we all knew he was trying to do the right thing. Obama is a puppet.
It's over 2 months later and he still hasn't made a decision and our guys are dying over there. He won't make a decision until after his Nobel PC Prize speech. He's not going to humiliate himself in front of the Norwegian appeasers who gave him the prize for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. But Obama is used to getting ahead for doing nothing. Story of his life.
Your point lacks logic. Simply knowing that you've been attacked in no way constitutes "knowing what's going on" nor does it answer just what it was exactly you expected him to be doing at that moment.
"Something!" is not a valid answer.
You ARE quite good, however, at extracting a couple of words from a person's post, and framing it to fit your supporting "evidence", in this case third-party interviews. Good work
Thank you for your service! You and the other brave soldiers are the reason we can even have this conversation.
"With all due respects"…other than his title/office, what has he done to earn respect from anyone? Seriously – I haven't heard anyone – Anyone – ever say they 'respect' him. They love him, they obey him, they praise him – but has respect ever been part of the equation?
In fact, he's gone out of his way to get rid of any respect due to the office of President of the United States…he wants everyone to feel like he's hangin' with the homies in the heezy (HIS term, from the WH press dinner).
You're a moron. A completely insensitive moron. Typical lib. You sound totally indoctrinated.
You demonstrate that you are a fierce armchair warrior. And an ankle-biter.
That Bush's "pet goat" moment gets your panties in a bunch is illustrative only that hate makes you stupid.
During the course of a long, unpopular war, Bush demonstrated his character and resolve to the satisfaction of anyone with an iota of impartiality. That you still focus on his response in the first 20 minutes of the attack, before anyone knew that it was a deliberate strike and not an accident, demonstrates the shallowness of your thinking.
Don't get too exercised over this clown, Cowboy. He's just one more little cog in the busted wheels now squeeking away in our government. Some liberals entertain themselves like Bawney Fwank, others engage in self-gratification by allowing conservatives to verbally urninate on them. I'm not real sure which one scotty is, but I bet Bawney knows.
He has one more year to talk his crap. After that he'll go back to the Koz.
BTW, the Bushes made a lowkey visit to Ft. Hood late at night and asked for no publicity. The sociopath-in-chief decided to spend the weekend at Camp David. Was he perfecting his golf game or his basketball game. He'll show up for the memorial because that's where the cameras are.
You got to be kidding me!!! 1/7 Suicide Charlie Co. Wpn Platoon!!
We were over there 11 days after he invaded on the ground in the desert making sure he didn't move south into Saudi Arabia!
I think the commentary was that he was, "Inexperienced, immature, and in over his head."
My dog runs in the other room. He can't stand that little whistle at the end of every other sentence.
that ain't google cut and paste, son. it's phonetic, sound spelled… i do in fact speak me some arabic!
hee yaw! how crazy is it that you think knowing a second language is magical and unrealistic, and that someone MUST be using google or the internet…. i mean boy howdy, who would want to know how to speak ARABIC?
LOTS of people know two (or more) languages.
Shows how much you know about how military actions and orders are executed. Bush could sit there, because the military ((and other first responders) has standing orders on how to protect the nation. There is nothing that Bush could have done at that time without causing more confusion. He is the STRATEGIC decision maker, not the TACTICAL. What he did was correct, show the nation that he is calm and take appropriate action at the right time. He did not make light of the situation by making "shout outs", he addressed it appropriately. It would have sent the wrong message to everyone if he had just rushed out of the room. Obama should have kept the meeting; but he should have altered his speech to address the situation FIRST, not after some light hearted banter. He should have gave it the solemness it deserved, then carried on in a non-light hearted manner.
- 26 and counting
Do. you. punctuate. all. of. your. sentences. this. way. or. is. this. an. impression. of. Obama. off. teleprompter? Tel-e-promp-ter!
how about andrew card in his own words then?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32782623/ns/us_news-9...
I walked up to the president and leaned over and whispered into his right ear: “A second plane” — I was very very succinct, very purposeful with my diction — “A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack.”
I'm military, I agree. There are by far the majority in the military who would. All the liberals tend to be the lower ranks who don't complete more then one term (generality I know, but more true than false). Most career military and officers tend to be conservative. Pretty much all of them I know cannot stand obama and his lies.
Bush FROZE under pressure? Do you consider Obama's shoutout last week to be appropriate? Even liberal media are on his case about it. What is Obama's excuse for dithering on Afghanistan?. Is it interfering with his sports activities and fundraising events? No, he won't make a decision until after his Nobel PC Prize speech so as not to embarrass himself because it's all about him.
Let's face it. You have nothing else to hang your hat on. You backed a narcissist and socipath and his true colors are starting to show.
it would certainly seem that such is the case…
You're still evading. We get it. Card told him. You still have yet to show how it could have been handled better [note I didn't say "differently", I said "better"]. I'll wait…
Part 1: Enough already about George W. Bush! The man didn't do everything perfectly, just as no other human on the planet could. Even conservatives don't expect Obama to do everything perfectly. We do, however, expect him to do what is in the best interests of the USA. And we expect him to do it without arrogance and corruption.
I find it humorous that scott_z is all bent out of shape over Bush taking time for finishing a short children's book. With kids who are 5th generation Texans, I can assure you Bush was not thinking about that book. He was thinking about what he had just been told and what was the best thing for him to do. Some people think a thought, and BLAT – out it comes. In Texas, the natives don't automatically say or do what instantly comes to mind. We mull it over a bit and decide on a course of action. That way, we don't end up having to eat our words or regret our actions quite as often.
I thought Gearge W Bush personnaly blew up the levies. That is what michael moore told us….
Part 2: As far as the look on Bush's face goes – I'll take a stunned look of horror anytime my President is told of an attack on American soil. Especially opposed to NOT having a stunned look of horror.
What President Bush did NOT do was go hide someplace. And he did NOT require a teleprompter with a speechwriter IV in order to speak from his heart. Also, just for the record, I get a laugh out of hearing Obama described as "eloquent." After many years of speech training and competitions, as well as frequent public speaking engagements, I can tell you Obama is not "eloquent." It is painful for me to listen to him speak. And I don't mean just because of WHAT he says.
Dave,
with all due respect, Commander in Chief should always be capitalized, except when referring to Obama. Then it is written commander in chief.
LOL, how do we know onbama is intelligent? He never released his grades…….
scotty,
It's not about Bush anymore. Bush is gone. Obongo owns it.
The FBI had been investigating Hasan for 6 months prior to the shootings for his Islamist rants. This is being swept under the rug in order to be PC. For diversity's sake, of course. Thirteen people died and 31 wounded for the sake of diversity and political correctness. Was that worth it to you?
scotty,
Now exactly how, pray tell, did you come up with that response, after what I had written. You really need to get a little grip there bub, before you go off the deep end and pull a Malik Hasan. Alah u Akbar………..BOOM!
I was a reserve tanker attached to A Co, 1st Tks
Oh, don't say that! Then little Scotty would have nothing to discuss. Actually, neither would Obama. Funny, I've never read anywhere about how George Washington spent his whole first year in office, paralyzed from doing anything for the good of the Country because of the "mess he inherited from George III." You know why you've never heard that? Because it didn't happen. Washington was a leader, not a petulant narcissist, who merely lashed out at those being "meanies" to him. Our current "president" needs to call a wah-mbulance and STFU.
Thank you for your response. Thank you for making ever so clear to some of the new readers here that you have NO IDEA how anything in the Government is SUPPOSE to work. There are these things called delegating and chain-of-command, and the WORST thing that could happen in our government is that ONE person "must" be present to make every single decision.
Do you even know that ORIGINALLY our Founding Fathers did NOT have a position of President as part of the structure of Government? But they found that people who had been used to having a KING, wouldn't be able to handle that transition very well. So they added the position of President, but who had LIMITED powers that were checked and balanced by the Congress and Supreme Court.
I can see with more and more people like you who don't know these things how it's gotten so messed up over the decades.
So now it's his birth cert, some college time unaccounted for and his scorecards!
I Really wonder how many rounds of golf he played in 2008 and in 2007? I'll bet he's played MORE as president than he played each of the past 5 years.
Anyone???
A minute 38 is a long time in that type of situation… You really do not want to know the answer. Just thank your diety of choice that he was not that proficient…
Ha! So you were blowing up the Iraqi tanks with our Abrams while we were riding in the Amtraks right behind you?
"why is this so hard for you to fathom???!?"
all i did was ask a question. you're such a kind and friendly fellow, you really make me want to embrace your accepting and tolerant Progressive ways.
You're so funny, Cowboy. Do you spend your whole day thinking this stuff up, or does it just come to you?
Well, what I saw on 9/11 was a true leader who was briefed on an ongoing event. He knew and trusted he had the right people doing the right things. He is the decision maker not the action guy. He has to process incoming briefs and keep the big picture. Hollywood hates this about true leaders because it doesn't provide good visuals. At least the current Hollywood, some older movies have the entire leader decision process well portrayed with the actor's back to the camera. What the media portrays as leadership is more panic with pithy lines.
There was not need and it would be poor leadership indeed for Bush to stand up and cause a panic. A panic wasn't required or useful. Those in the danger zone already knew it. Good leaders keep their own counsel until it is time for them to make a decision or guide ongoing operations. A good leader doesn't micro-manage since that kills the value of having the right people in the chain taking action according to broad guidelines and thus exerting an influence greater than their numbers.
No American lives were lost or blood spilled if you don't count all the troops killed and wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Personally, I count them.
Bush is not an idiot. Idiots don't acquire Harvard MBA's. He's just inarticulate in front of cameras. Those who know him and have been in meetings with him say he was a different man when the cameras were off. I also suspect he might have a slight learning disability having to do with speech & language. One of my sons has it. It has nothing to do with IQ level. Obama, on the other hand, appears totally out-of-touch with reality sometimes and not well versed on policy. He really does seem to be a prop of the left, their front guy who was chosen because he's telegenic and reads prompters with aplomb. He sounds less than articulate when off the prompter. It's quite eye-opening.
"the commander in chief of the armed forces, knowingly being unavailable during the worst attack on american soil in history because he was reading a book to school children. that might very well be."
Obviously he was available since there is a picture of him being notified of the events. What do you think? Do you think he just skipped down the road to the local school? Seriously? Do you think he should have been psychic and cleared his schedule in advance?
Wikepedia is known for changing it's facts to suit the democrats!
Wow. Now that is revealing. Sounds like the left found someone who would be able to pull the wool over the eyes of the unwashed masses and then groomed him for a few years, including devising a "backstory" for him. Axelrod et al was probably rewriting his biography for years. It must alarm them that their "front man" keeps goofing up and giving himself away.
Shhhhhhh…don't you know the school appearance was the COVER so he could be out of DC? Did your tinfoil hat fall off there for a minute??!??!?!
you have no idea what you're talking about. go find some people in the military. ask some questions. you'll be surprised.
careful, you're throwing too many facts and too much logic at scotty boy.
and you're showing that you have principles… something i don't think scotty understands.
I was in the military, and I agree wholeheartedly.
Didn't Bin Ladin get his education in America as well???
I'm pretty sure he was referring to lives lost on American soil as resulting from attacks from foreign nationals, again, on American soil. I'm also pretty clear that Cowboy counts those lost in foreign theaters as well.
Billy Ayers most likely wrote both of his books as well. He is a dilletante with a capital 'D'. They wanted an empty suit to sell their noxious plans. And they got one, alright. You are correct about the phony backstory, too. Mostly it's just hugely underreported. What they do report is sketchy and glowing. By the way, Michelle is best of buddies with Bernadine Dohrn. Wife of Bill Ayers who Obama doesn't really 'know'…
Interesting. Just more of what Stalin termed "Useful Idiots." Scott seems like the same. Indoctrnated to the point of abandoning whatever critical thinking skills he might have possessed. Totally in the tank and grasping at straws to make his arguments. Scott sounds like an irrational 25 y.o. who just got out of Bezerkley.
It's up to the governor to call out the National Guard. Bush had repeatedly phoned Blanco to do so, but she refused to declare an emergency lest she appear incompetent. The president, by Federal law, is not allowed to call out any individual state's National Guard or face arrest. It was Blanco who stalled, not Bush.
The other rocket scientist, Mayor Nagin of NO, refused to evacuate the unwashed masses because he felt the 300+ school buses weren't good enough for them, so the buses got flooded and people died. Of course, Bush was blamed for that also, and the idiots of NO voted Nagin another term.
"Counting coup" takes some serious cojones, especially in war…that "old man" was CRAZY…
My first and only war rule is to make sure the enemy vacates their life as far away from me and mine as possible…
One of the reasons I am SUCH a fan of tactical nukes…except for strategic ones…which are even better…
Of course you still havent said what exectuive orders the president should have given upon hearing the news "A plane has crashed into the world trade center"
In Scott Z's fantasy world President Obama would instantly known it was a terrorist assualt and knowing what to do would have run to the nearest phone booth, torn open his suit revealing OBAMA MAN!
Up up and away, Obama would have flown backwards around the earth causing time to reverse itself, he then would have forced the planes down, talked the terrorists out with peace drivel, and by lunch the world would once again be singing hippy peace songs, holding hands, swaying back and forth while chugging coke.
My lord, am I living on a different planet than you scott, it took a bit more than 20 minutes to figure out what was happening, and a lot longer than that to figure who was doing what.
Exactly!
When someone is in control of the most powerful military force in the world, do you REALLY want someone given to histrionics and hysteria in charge?
Scott three words for you…please calm DOWN! W did what he had to. OK? You don't like it? You want him running around in a panic like a woman good for you. And thank GOD you weren't President.
I think you are of your meds. Take your lib crap over to the obama nation forums. Those snakes delete all the post who's authors do not have the president's jewlez in there mouth.
You would fit in nice. People like you are traitors to my country. Why don't you get it over with and move to Cuba?
Double standards exist to make it an interesting fight against the leftist, without them the left woudlnt have a chance, and they know it.
Seriously??? He gave a "shout out" on for the troops via Colbert? Oh yeah, that's the same damn thing. Great comparison, you idiot. Bush isn't President any more. Next you'll be claiming PTSD because you were American from 2000-2008.
Don’t get to worked up about Scott, his point is never to have one. Pretzel logic is a 57th state trait, you say up, he says down, and so it goes with Scott.
Nothing the man could have done in that situation would have satisfied you. Why don't you just admit it?
A narcissist is incapable of feeling empathy or sympathy for others, that is a symptom of the disorder. Maybe his writers can start giving him prompts like "look sad', "look concerned", etc.
This man is a disgrace to America, and he shows his hate of America and Americans on an almost daily basis. Yet almost 50% of Americans still think he is doing okay. We can blame obama must we must also look at ourselves and take a look at how this happened to make sure this never happens again.
I am afraid that there is still a large number of sheeple who just will never get how bad of a president this man is.
Let's just pray we can vote him out in 2012 because I don't know if alot of us can take much more of this shell of a man.
Anyone who would vote against helping babies who happen to survive an abortion, and vote to leave them in some closet to die like obama did should not even be considered human.
God help us if we have anything approaching the disaster of 9-11 hit with Barry in office. They’ll have to send the Secret Service in to jerk his sorry ass out from under the Resolution Desk screaming, “Michele, Michele, you promised me that everyone would love me, I want Reverend Wright,” as Barry begins weeping, while sucking his thumb, he falls fast asleep while rocking in Michele’s arms as America burns.
So I’m in my car in Southlake Texas and I’ve just been told that the POTUS will speak about the Fort Hood incident. He comes on and to me it sounds as if he’s in the middle of some point about Native American relations and a shout out to Joe Medicine. I’m shouting at the radio by this time as I cannot believe this idiot is once again showing the US just what a callous, cold b–tard he is and he doesn’t care. After what seems like forever he gets around to an “oh, by the way” moment and says some obligatory things about the incident in particular and how we shouldn’t rush to judgement in the main. The first thing that pops into my head is that he sure rushed to judgement in the Skip Gates affair didn’t he? The second thing was that came to mind was his middle name. I’m still furious with this lame, sorry–s excuse for a President. Then on top of everything else the Dembulbs pass the HC reform that no one wants. It’s like Rush says I feel like I’m living in a war zone. Well, 2010 will be the Dems D-Day and I for one can’t wait to pull the lever and push these thugs out of government. And I hope people get a clue in the next few months about the left and never ever put them in this position of power ever again. This country can’t take it.
It just floats through.
I won't take one bit of credit though. All the credit goes to Barrack Black Eagle.
All I have to do is sit quietly, like a buzzard on a pole. He provides me with all the subject matter I need………
I guess I would ask you the same question that Scott will not answer
The first thing bush was told was “Sir, it appears there’s been a small twin-engine plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers in New York City.” And the reaction, kind of unspoken, was “Oh, it’s a horrible accident. The pilot must have had a heart attack or something.”
At this point what should he have done?
Then Scott admits kind of that it wasn't 20 minutes, it was 5 (at most) after he was told “A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack.” And I stood back from the president so that he couldn’t ask me a question and then I inched my way back to the door.
So assuming that he jumped up, was held in the hall while vehicles were brought up what could have he done in those 300 seconds to change anything that happened in any way shape or form?
No one still knew exactly what was happening, you seem a bit more thoughtful than Scott and I am interested, not sure what "To do an emergency" means
Tex,
scotty misses the point. It is no longer about Bush.
Tex,
you and I agree on Bush. I do not like what he did, or the way things turned out, but he was a sincere man. After eight years of rampant sex scandals with the last clown we had, Bush was refreshing. He brought dignity back to the White House. Obama has turned it into an avant garde art gallery with a parade of freaks leading the Circus.
Long enough to reload at least once…
Jerry Miculek can empty a five-shot revolver in 0.57 seconds in a group the size of a playing card…
He can fire six shots, reload, and fire another six shots from the same revolver in 2.99 seconds…
Even amateurs can fire and reload an automatic pistol very quickly…
I'm military trained, so with myself as an equivalency…three shots per second, one second pause to re-focus, say three for every two seconds. Magazine change, three seconds; drop the empty, insert the loaded, release the slide.
Fudge the time a little bit, one shot per second. Fifteen in the magazine, one in the weapon. Call it one magazine every 20 seconds. Forty-five rounds a minute, one pistol. Two pistols, ninety rounds in one minute. One hundred thirty five rounds in the time period…
That's hysterical, have you given on peace of hard data for anyhing you have said?
We have recently discovered what the Obamas find artistic. Remember the plagiarized painting…
I was on the Bush bandwagon for part of his first term, just because he IS a sincere, moral man, who used to live less than an hour from me. Then, I tried to warn him that they were barrelling along in the wrong direction on certain issues. However, I think that was a direct effect of the wrong-headed GOP's advice. And they are still having to learn the hard way.
I actually get a headache if I listen for too long, and it's not about the content. His speech pattern (well…READING pattern) is HORRIBLE. I'm wondering if they did tests to find out what speech pattern would sooth the most gullible minded people and went with it.
Well, nothing else about him seems to be authentic.
The leftist liberals can affix any name to President Bush that they choose. But the scumbag we have residing currently in the oval office could not hold a candle to President Bush in terms of integrity, honesty and love of country. In less han a year the scumbag liar has nearly ruined the USA and denigrated its allies all in the name of defending Islam. What a disgusting culture and religion. Look what has happened in Britian !
"To do an emergency" = bad typo on my part.
I'm not trying to suggest that more could have been done in "300 seconds". I think Bush's overall response to the attack was good. I think that when you're told "America is under attack", that you have higher obligations to the country over reading a book to children.
Overall, I'm not complaining. Everyone reacts differently to a stressful situation. His initial reaction (to me) was slow/odd because he chose to read the children's book. but, overall I like that he made a quick decision/stand and took action. He was genuine in his concern, thoughtfulness and his aggression.
I was watching live on Fox News at the time and couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. The shooting had been all over the news for a couple of hours by then. I fully expected this clown to open with some statement of reassurance and condolence but instead he went into campaign mode, the only mode he seems to know. Instead of acknowledging the tragedy and showing a firm steady hand, he was pandering for support from native Americans. Shameful, absolutely shameful.
Except for his date nights to New York or his golf dates. Then, heck, lets pack up and go.
One Texan to another – you're absolutely right. It all comes down to being presidential – the international apologies, the reflex to blame Bush, the bow to the Saudi king, the inability to get off the campaign, simply are not presidential. Arrogance is a poor substitute.
Renee, please read my posts in "Obama's Rush To Judgment" today. A short summary:
If the UK government health care system is the world's 3rd largest employer, I have no doubt that the US government health care system WOULD BE THE WORLD'S LARGEST EMPLOYER. When that many people vote together to protect their government jobs, they are impossible to defeat.
All those saying we will make the necessary changes to revert our system after the next election cycles are not realizing that, by then, there may not be enough of us!
The area around the school had to be secured, they had to get the facts, and they had to find a place for the President to have a briefing. It was more convenient at the time for the President to stay put than to heel after security.
I'm sorry it's not a great big conspiracy, but that's all it was.
Spot on. He could use some empathy lessons from Clinton or Bush. Maybe that he has no apparent empathy is also Bush's fault.
NO. I won't allow you to twist my words. Read what I said. "we were not attacked on our soil". That stood as FACT, until last week.
I do agree with you, I do count them all, but again, do not twist my words. Personally, and you are not going to like my stance on this: all the Muslim blood in the world, from all one billion plus of them, is not worth as much as ONE DROP of American blood. Those "people" are sub-human.
And therein is the major difference between Bush and Obama: Bush = Class.
AMEN. He had dignity and class, and Obama does NOT.
its nice to know that you can read a globe… When you are asked to offer facts to back up what you say, you become silent… interesting.
Of course, we don't know what of all of the conflicting thoughts that were going through Bush's mind at the time that he was told that we were attacked on 9/11. However, I also think it made a strong statement to the rest of the world that we do not think that you are significant — you cannot hurt us, even if you ram a plane into a building. We will continue on with business as usual, even when that busines means reading to children. I do not fault Bush for his actions, nor do I fault Obama for his on the Ft. Hood massacre.
psst. you just described president bush
WOULD EVERYONE JUST IGNORE scottz …..he gets a woody when people pay attention to him. shit he's only 13 years old……
"measly 20 minutes or less when his staff was gathering the information"
you mean 20 minutes where HE could have been being briefed and actually leading the country in a time of crisis.
there. fixed that for you.
"You still have yet to show how it could have been handled better"
WHY,yes I most certainly have. he needed to put down the book. that was 20 minutes of wasted time. planes were in the air, many feared wave after wave of additional attacks.our nation needed its commander in chief to be the "decider" immediately. not wait around for 20 minutes in an extremely critical period to read a book to children.
are we in agreement here?
the article specifically mentioned how brave Bush was for reading a book to school children while the twin towers were hit. I was merely addressing the historical revisionism contained therein.
to sit there reading a book for even 5 minutes is a failure in leadership.
you know it, i know it, and all you continue to do is make weasly "what if…" scenarios that we both know didn't happen.
so know you fall back on the excuse that hey, "what could that time period have done anyway."
but that wasn't my point. my ONLY point was that he was not being BRAVE,or COURAGEOUS, or THINKING of the CHILDREN as the author insists. HE froze. That is my only point: fighting blatant historical revisionism contained in the article.
"W did what he had to. OK?"
fine. just don't call sitting there reading books to school children as the twin towers were hit "couragoeus" or "thinking of the kid's feelings" like the author of this article did. That is historical revisionism at it's worst. bush needed to be elsewhere, he had a job to do, and reading that book at that time was NOT a priority for the commander in chief of the united states military.
Wait, I thought you just said that he stayed reading the book for 5 minutes after Andrew Card told him we're under attack?
So was it 5 minutes or 20 minutes?
What's interesting is I can remember when the first plane hit that no one had any idea what was going on. Initial reports were that it was a small plane.
"Mr. President, a small plane hit the WTC. Stop reading that damned book and get you butt back to the Bunker! YOU need to make a decision about air traffic! A SMALL PLANE hit the WTC!" That's what we knew at the time. If he had reacted the way you're saying and the truth was that it was just a small plane accident, he would have looked like a fool.
He did the right thing, which was not overreact. He didn't let the situation control him, which is what you're advocating. That's nonsense. What we can agree on is you're a complete numbskull who has no knowledge of what actually occurred on 9/11 other than the talking point that Bush should have done something!!!111eleven!!1!1!!
I'm guessing you were 10 years old at the time, which made you just old enough to vote for President Prissypants last year. Maybe you're just mad President Bush wasn't reading to your class.
From an analysis of the 9/11 commission report:
**The 9/11 Commission took special pains to debunk the urban legend that famously claimed the U.S. Air Force was ordered to stand down on 9/11, clearing the way for unencumbered terror attacks on the targets. The commission, among other things, concluded that F-15 fighters were scrambled at 8:46 a.m. from Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts — a distance of 153 miles from the World Trade Center.
But the Northeast Air Defense Sector (NEADS) did not know where to vector the alert fighter aircraft. Airliner transponders had been disabled by the terrorists.
NEADS personnel spent precious minutes searching their radar scopes. American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower at 8:46 a.m. Shortly after 8:50 a.m., while NEADS personnel were still trying to locate the flight, word reached them that a plane had hit the World Trade Center.
Radar data show the Otis fighters were airborne at 8:53 a.m. Lacking a target, they were vectored toward military-controlled airspace off the Long Island coast. To avoid New York-area air traffic and uncertain about what to do, the fighters were directed into a holding pattern. From 9:09 to 9:13 a.m., the Otis fighters stayed in this holding pattern.
Bottom line: NEADS received notice of the hijacking nine minutes before it struck the north tower. That nine-minutes notice before impact, concluded the commission, was the most the military would receive of any of the four hijackings.
Although there are many, many more examples of the Internet-fueled 9/11 theories, a final one to be mentioned here are the legends engendered by the question: Why did President Bush calmly read a children's story about a pet goat and stay in the classroom for the time he did?
Conspiracy aficionados have taken the conduct as evidence that Bush knew about the attacks ahead of time.
The 9/11 Commission was unimpressed with the "mystery" that has so intrigued the theorists.
It was reported that then-White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card told the investigative body he was standing with the president outside the classroom when senior adviser Karl Rove first informed them that a small, twin-engine plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. The president's initial reaction was that the incident must have been caused by pilot error.
At 8:55 a.m., before entering the classroom, the president spoke to then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, who was at the White House.
She recalled first telling the president it was a twin-engine aircraft — and then a commercial aircraft — that had struck the World Trade Center, adding "that's all we know right now, Mr. President." The 9/11 Commission further concluded from the evidence and testimony that the president was seated in a classroom when, at 9:05 a.m., Card whispered to him: "A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack."
The president instructed the committee that his instinct while on camera was to project calm, not to have the country see an excited reaction at a moment of crisis. Members of the press were standing behind the children; he saw their phones and pagers start to ring. The president felt he should project strength and calm until he could better understand what was happening.
In further findings, the commission noted that the president remained in the classroom for another five to seven minutes, while the children continued reading.
He then returned to a holding room shortly before 9:15 a.m., where he was briefed by staff and saw television coverage.
He next spoke to Vice President Dick Cheney, Rice, New York Gov. George Pataki, and then-FBI Director Robert Mueller. He decided to make a brief statement from the school before leaving for the airport. Secret Service officials told the commission they were anxious to move the president to a safer location, but did not think it imperative for him to run out the door.**
No one knew what was happening at first. I think President Bush did an admirable job of holding this country together. You need to get a life.
Was Bush getting $30,000 from some lackey to help the President clear brush like Obammy gets for his round of golf??
The funniest thing was Noblama shouting out to "Dr Joe Medicine Hat Congressional Medal of honor winner. Some one needs to tell Dr Barry Ass-hat that he won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and not the Congressional medal of Honor.
There is quite a difference between the nations highest civilian award, as opposed to the nations Highest Military Honor.
-But I wouldn't expect Dr bad-Medicine Ass-hat to know the difference…………………..I mean he only hung the medal around the neck of Dr Medicine Crow himself.
Now who's wearing CROW on their face.
Yes, and in his free time, he personally edits Wikipedia as well.
"And you can?"
the difference between me and the author of the blog entry we are commenting on is that i never *claimed* to speak *on their behalf*.
he did.
I said that was kinda messed up, there is no way the author can speak for all service members.
Then I catch unholy hell from you. for reasons i have yet to understand.
The sound-wave alone from a W-31 nuclear devise (a 40 kiloton nuclear weapon, Hiroshima was around 14 Kilotons) will kill everybody within a quarter mile radius.
At 150 decibels the force will literally force soft tissue into bone. Thats some crazy shit.
no one needs "hard data" to tell you that the civilian author of this shameful blog post cannot speak for all service members.
Do you disagree?
accidently hit delete on my comment to this thread. it was a pithy reply suggesting right turn either called a harvard prof or a mass cop a terrorist, or he was confusing his analogies. there ya go.
"Bush, fundraising and laughing it up while Katrina hits and survivors perish "
Um, if they perished, they weren't survivors.
an interesting way to gauge how many ACTIVE registered users this site has. Based on downvotes and moderation.
in seven hours during prime time web usage, only 32 people downvoted me.
I'd give you 200-500 registered users in any day at the most. small potatoes.
enjoy your echo chamber, you small few who are too scared to have your positions challenged. you guys are not gonna win elections that way.

What about blood from liberal or "left- wing" Americans? You know, the socialists and Marxists. Does that count? How about blood from Americans who are Muslims?
You know, what he says on Faux News isn't actually what he says. They dub it to satisfy their viewers. I'll bet you didn't know that.
Stan, you need to lay off the magic mushrooms.
you disgusting peice of shIt; how dare you judge the actions of this man as he put the affect his action would have on these children before himself…something that is missing in our entire government. What is wrong with you liberal, communist, MAO, marxist, Castro loving freaks that you would even condemn the actions of someone that did what any father would do…protect the kids in his care. You disgust me!
What historical revisionism?
Would you prefer that Andrew Card came over to the President and whispers, "The second plane hits the second tower… STAY COOL, Georgie! For the kids, you know? America is under attack. Wait few minutes, then get up, thanks the kids and move on. Got it?"
Or maybe you're thinking like a 9/11 troofer:
"George, we did it! Second plane hits the second tower. Just like we talked about last night. Stay calm for the kids for few minutes, then we go."
Historical revisionism? My butts.
As the commission report points out it was 5 to 7 minutes, NOT 20 minutes. When you keep using a time frame that is patently false, it only highlights your inability to let go of talking points and assimilate factual information.
IOW, you have no idea what you're talking about.
If he had run out of the room he would have panicked everyone. He had self-control. Something you obviously lack since you're still clinging to the 20 minute lie. Five to seven minutes while information was being gathered for his briefing.
Yes, Clinton or Obama would have rushed out of the room … into another room … where they would have stood there for five to seven minutes going "somebody tell me what's going on!" Effective. If you're an idiot.
Thanks for asking the question. The moron keeps posting 20 minutes, which is the Truther talking point and he knows for a fact it was 5 to 7 minutes. He doesn't even know what he's saying from one word to the next.
You're the one who keeps revising, Scott. You keep saying 20 minutes when it clearly wasn't. You say you've seen the tape, but how could you have seen 20 minutes when it was five to seven minutes?
Yes, I'm trying to correct you each time because you're spreading your Truther talking points as disinformation and it needs to be swatted down before someone thinks you're not the liar you are.
If five minutes is a failure then why do you Truthers insist that it's 20 minutes when it's clearly not? Why bump up the numbers if the reality is bad enough? Maybe because it wasn't bad at all, and a lot of people actually appreciated a president who would take a moment to keep from scaring the kiddies. Just because you Truthers can't grasp compassion doesn't mean the majority of us can't either.
I didn't know he was a teenager yet………
Totally agree. Ignore the troll.
I was watching him speak live and it was carried on all the networks.
Pet Goat Moment: I viewed this moment quite differently. I saw Bush as a man of great strength. He was not going to traumatize these children. He digested this moment with determination and courage. I miss Bush, I never questioned that President Bush loves America and ALL its citizens and illegal aliens.
With the world-wide reporting on all the unarmed, sitting-duck soldiers — ALL people on our military bases should be armed now until further notice! Every nut on earth has been alerted that a killing spree is possible again. As a civilian, I had no idea that only a civilian, contracted police force were the only armed people on base. How stupid! Arm everyone now for their own self-defense!
I think I would take "A Big John" type President over a "Hip-Hop, Shout out" President, every day in the mine.
The only thing we agree on scott is that your a liberal.
You make a point then refuse to defend it, you accuse others of lacking facts and then provide none of your own, you knowingly lie (20 minutes!) and only when caught out (5 Minutes) do you change tact and then try and pretend like your distortions dont matter
It's pointless talking to you, you are a true Obama Zombie, maybe after you eat a few more tax subsidized fresh brains you can figure out why people write you off without taking you seriously
Whoa dude …then how are we supposed to survive Barry?
The think is no matter what President Bush did, this leftist cultist Scott would condemn him. These mad dogs leftist are all insane and the sooner we throw out their Gods out of office the quicker we can clean up the sludge they have left behind since 1913. Obama is the greatest gift for the rebirth of the conservative movement, he is the gift that keeps on giving. With clowns like this Scott attacking Bush at the level they do, that is proof President Bush did his job. These leftist cult members hate GW more then they love America. President Bush acted correctly in font of those kids and teachers. Having him jump us and run out of the room to give the impression he is on the job wouldn't have saved one life. He showed he was a leader and that goes so far up the asses of these scum-bag liberals that they can't stand it. President Bush will be remembered as a great President in History while LBJ, Carter, Clinton and Obama will go down are reprobates. There will be no one in the future to defend these incompetent leftist idiots that the cultist worship now.
Yeah, the attack on that doctor WAS terrorism. And so was this act. The man made attempts to contact al Qaeda. It has nothing to do with him being a Muslim. What about that college student recently captured for planning to blow up government buildings? Was he a Muslim? No. But that was terrorism, plain and simple.
Also, it's Allahu Akbar, not Allah Akbar.
Given that this president spends more time picking out the family pet then on policy that will affect generations of Americans, many people will see that obummer's leadership (or lack of) will pale in comparison to that of George Bush!
i am not a truther. that is your answer.
It all illustrates that Obama is glued to his telepromter and George W. Bush didn't need one. When the chips were down he knew what to do and say both to the children and to the nation. It will be a long time before we have his equal in the WH again. Perhaps in 2012 if the nation even lasts that long.
Wiki cites sources. Check the bottom of the page, and do a little homework to see whose "facts" you are quoting.
He could have done nothign in those 7 freaking minutes. But he ended up doing a lot – despite the wailing from people like you. Bush was not afraid to take responsibility, to state clearly what he wanted to do and why and then do exactly that, or at least try. The contrast to Barack Obama couldn´t be greater. A blind man can see it.
