Government Still Trying to Take Over Health Care
by Rep. Tom Price (R-GA)Yesterday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other House Democrats unveiled H.R. 3962, their latest version of the health care legislation that’s been hotly debated for months in Congress and across the country. (Read it here.)

One thing is clear. Your concerns about a government takeover of health care have been totally ignored by Speaker Pelosi and her allies, who worked behind closed doors to write this bill. After months of debate, the bill they introduced today is essentially the same bill the American people have already flat-out rejected.
Government-run insurance? Still in the bill. Higher taxes? You betcha. An individual mandate that restricts choices and innovation by requiring Washington to define what qualifies as health insurance? Check. A job-killing employer mandate, a budget-busting expansion of the Medicaid entitlement, and countless provisions that set Washington bureaucrats firmly between you and your doctor? Better believe it.
What about comprehensive lawsuit abuse reform and a ban on taxpayer funded abortion? Not surprisingly, those important items are still not in the bill.
There is one major and obvious difference between H.R. 3962 and H.R. 3200, however. At 1,990 pages, the new version is almost twice as long as the old one. H.R. 3962 has all the “government takeover” of H.R. 3200 with an extra thousand pages thrown into the mix. That’s a whole lot of government involved in personal, private health care decisions.
The American people want reforms that provide them with more choices, more competition, more innovation, higher quality, and lower costs. That’s the approach taken by the numerous patient-centered bills introduced by Republicans, including my own Empowering Patients First Act, H.R. 3400. Unfortunately, our ideas have been consistently and intentionally dismissed by the majority party.
But passage of this monstrosity is by no means certain. Though we expect a vote on this bill in the next week, there is still time to make your voice heard. Please forward this email to your friends, family, and co-workers. Get the word out and don’t delay. The future of American health care is in the balance, and we are on the clock

BULLSHIT ALERT!
The above article is completely false. Thank you.

Very nice. As any liberal will do, this person above decides to react on his emotions (remember that liberals are the Reactionary party and not the Progressives).
It's good to see someone dispute a claim as false without providing any reasons as to who or what led him to this conclusion. Thank you for verifying there has been a death of innovation from far left…
The sheer length, the wording, the inclusion of (practically?) everything the opposition hates, that the majority of the public said they did not want, that even the Democratic moderates did not want…
Could she have possibly made a bill more due to be rightfully shot down? Is this her method of guaranteeing it will fail, so she can go to the liberal voters and claim she tried her best, again, but those evil rich racist Republicans would not let her help the poor and working families, again?
Anyone else noticing online liberal comments that it is all the Republicans that are halting any meaningful reforms, vote even more of them out of Congress so Obama can finally fix everything?
How dare the Dems not listen to the American people that didn't vote for them???
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The Congressional Budget Office said Thursday a U.S. House health-care system re-write would extend health insurance to 96% of the nonelderly U.S. population by 2019, and spend $1.055 trillion to do so.
—————————————————————————————————————————-
This CBO report is on drudge. Does this mean that the CBO is not counting the elderly on the final cost? It just seems funny the way they wrote it? We still have to pay to cover them right? Thought maybe someone could help me out here.
I agree BULLSHIT ALERT! Everything you wrote is BULLSHIT!

"An individual mandate that restricts choices and innovation by requiring Washington to define what qualifies as health insurance?"
Wouldn't this be required to open the way to interstate competition? I believe interstate competition would go a long way toward making health insurance affordable to more people.
Right now each state defines what insurance can be sold in their state. Interstate competition for buying insurance would basically do away with 50x state insurance commissioners across the country. Which means, somone, somewhere, would need to describe what the minimum standard is for health insurance.
With the states out of the picture, that would leave the Feds.
Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.
When will the so called "media" stop with the lie that congress has written ANY of these bills. When will they tell us that the Marxist radicals Obama has placed all within our halls of government are writing these America killing, republic killing bills.
The cap and tax bill written by Weatherman founders
Health care bill written by SEIU union thug radicals from ACORN
THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DESERVE THE TRUTH! We know there is no one in the congress of senate smart enough or having enough years of perparation to write the monstrosities! They have been being written for 20 years in underground caves of the communist radicals clawing to takeover this country!

That redneck is about as emotionally unstable as Unstable Alan Grayson.
You are right.
CON-gress doesn;t have the collective intelligence to write a short order menu, let alone a 1900 page Bill. They are emotionally and intellectually challanged, retarded in their development and cognitive skills. They couldn'[t get through a glass door if it didn't say "push" or "pull" on it. They should be ashamed.

1990 pages too many. Get the Government out of the medical business, the insurance business, the car business, and anything else not directly involved with national security, international relations, international trade and whatever else is absolutely required to maintain safety and preserve liberty. Whatever else they touch, they destroy.
I thought that a president was for the whole country not only for the ones who voted for him. Same goes for reps and senators. One may win due to a majority but once elected they are not supposed to vote what "they want" they are supposed to represent what people want. It seems the majority of Americans are against that bill.
Instead of lashing out with swear words and flat-out saying something is wrong, point out the errors of the article and provide proof not gotten on HuffPo or KOS. BTW, stop trolling here. All you do is re-enforce our opinion of libs being the party of emotion and no facts.
Sen. Pelosi included NONE of the items brought to her by Repubs and none of the things called for by the Americaan people, like being able to shop healhcare over state lines. Like pazzi said, the Congress and Pres are supposed to do what is right and what is WANTED by the country, they don't decide for us.

I disagree with your assessment. With interstate competition it would be the consumer and the market that determines the minimum standard for health insurance. There would exist one part of the market that desires catastrophic coverage only, with insurance plans available to fill that desire. Another segment of the market might desire more comprehensive health coverage, with insurance plans to fill that desire. While another desire might be total, "Cadillac" coverage, and available policies to fill that desire. Regulation might still be needed in minimal form to guard against abuses like dropping people's coverage arbitrarily, but the massive increase in personal choice of insurance carriers would mitigate even these problems to a large degree.
At least this is the way that I see it.

Have you read all 1,900+ pages?
Do you have any idea what is and what is not in those pages?
I bet the answer to both questions is no and that you want a government run Health Care program.
Frankly, I wonder why you bother to post here, since your posts are so blatantly idiotic and easily proven to be inaccurate..
What no race card included in your senseless spew?
Many persons continue and try an argue about healthcare bill facts! Facts have never mattered regarding Obama's policies. Obama's Cap and Trade, Obama's healthcare, and Obama's stimulus bill are all designed to deliver crushing blows to our economy and help lower the value of our currency. Every proposal and legislative act supported by Obama and his Dem friends is designed to make our economy and civilization more socialist. The only issue Obama, Reid, and Pelosi care about is whether they'll get their legislation passed. In spite of the Dem's overwhelming majorities in the Senate and House, those three are having trouble twisting Blue Dog Dems into supporting the socialist agenda.
So, argue whether we can muster enough opposition to Obama. Plan on using the 2010 elections and those in 2012 to restore American values to our body politic.
Remember what Obama said during his campaign; essentially, look at the people he's got surrounding him, his advisors. Recall Obama's reply to Joe the Plumber that Obama wants to spread the wealth. Listen to his comments since January 20th; he's striving to bring about equal outcomes; to heck with equal opportunities.
Focus on what can be done to hinder Obama's policies and to prevent further socialization of this country.
What's a few trillion dollars here and there to America hating liberals… God knows they certainly didn't earn the revenue base that built the tax coffers that ALLOWED them to spend our kids future ! ! LIBERALISM is truly a mental disease of the basement dwelling non-producer ants that feed off of your hard work.
STEP on them whenever and wherever you see them ! Or better yet……. (you finish it)….
I'll tell you why. He is on welfare and stood in the Detroit line to get free money from Obama. Thats why. FREE FREE FREE progressive handouts and they will spout idiotic lines so they don't have to take responsibilty for their own lives.
All I will say is: if any of you progresive morons or other zombies meet me on the street, I will not be reponsible for what I say or do. Your ignorance has pushed all of us Patriots who respect the Constitution to the limit. If you want communism or marxism, get the hell out of this country !!! I am tired of paying for your laziness and your welfare handouts. I am tired of this administration handing our parks and real estate to China as collateral. I am tired of not being able to use our natural resources because Obongo has promised them to foreign entities as collateral.
I am so freaking tired of seeing our flag and our Constitition being spat upon because of you lazy, apathetic, corrupt communistic cockraoches who fraudulently voted this userper in as a president. AND I am ashamed that we let you do it but no more, because we the Patriots are a force to be reckoned with and you will pay dearly.
This healthcare bill is nothing but another takeover of our freedoms and our liberty. Go to hell liberals.

Funny and probably true, to boot.
Are we sure that he isn't really Grayson?
Thank you for your feedback. I think we both agree that a "floor" needs to be set, and I agree that it needs to be minimal.
The problem with this floor concept is with the folks in power right now, said baseline would probably look like what California allows, which is pretty close to Cadillac coverage IMO. CA doesn't allow stripped down health insurance, so many employees in CA go without coverage and are now counted as part of the crisis that needs to be fixed.
But the stipulation that a federal mandate exists isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I think it would be a requirement to accompany interstate competition.
Please everyone sign petition to fight cap & tax bill. Spread around. We have to stop this tax bill…………………………….http://www.webcommentary.com Lot's of news there also.
Anyone responsible for drafting this bill or voting for this bill should be voted out immediately.

I certainly agree that the problem we have is the folks in power right now, especially since their agenda is almost entirely about increasing that power. But this is exactly why I oppose the federal mandate. This to me is the ultimate power play; to have the power to force 100% of the population into purchasing insurance coverage that is 100% regulated by one centralized, federal power structure. Then if you couple this with a "public option" of government run insurance, those who are mandated but unable to afford private insurance will have no choice but to enroll in the public plan. There is no choice and no competition for these people.
Make no mistake, this entire effort is about Soviet style control of the populace. It is not about "compassion" or even "health care." And just like the Soviet system, only if you are rich in money or position will you have any choices. All others will simply do as they're told.

I disagree. I don't think this is a governement takeover, but it does put government between doctors and patients. Take a look at this article to see how: http://www.examiner.com/x-24103-Top-News-Examiner...
