How The West Can Be Won By Republicans
by Thomas Del BeccaroThe focus of American politics is often on the East Coast. The interplay between Washington DC and the major media outlets on the East Coast often results in West Coast politics being as much as an afterthought as college sports are to eastern writers. This year, however, is different because the West features some of the highest profile races in the Country – races that can be won by Republicans.

The races that are grabbing that attention – which attention is likely to grow – are: (1) the Nevada race for Senate pitting the Democrat Leader Harry Reid against newcomer and the Tea Party candidate Sharon Angle, (2) the Washington State Senate Race between the Democrat incumbent Patty Murray and a yet to be determined Republican , and in California (3) newcomer Republican Meg Whitman v. Jerry Brown for Governor, and (4) newcomer Republican Carly Fiorina v. Democrat incumbent Barbara Boxer for US Senate.
In each of those races, the Republican has more than just a chance to win. In California, the latest polling shows the Republican Whitman statistically tied with the Democrat Jerry Brown,(B) 44 – (W) 43. Whitman is proving to be an incredibly determined candidate and is more than matching the spending on the Left in support of Brown. How worried are the Democrats about that race? The Democrats Governor’s Association, in a very rare move, spent money to attack Whitman during the Republican primary. Perhaps more telling, the LA Times recently ran an article chronicling Brown’s troubles entitled: “Brown’s frugal campaign may be too little, too late.”
In the race for Senate, Boxer’s slim lead over Fiorina is within the margin of error 44-41 – but within that Field poll is even more trouble for Boxer. Her unfavorable rating jumped from 39% to 52% over the last year. Combined with Boxer’s high name identification, that poll indicates that Boxer will have a hard time convincing the voters who already know her – and don’t like her – to vote for her in this anti-Washington, non-incumbent year. Fiorina, on the other hand, has a big upside potential and is a dynamic candidate who will be better funded then any of Boxer’s prior opponents in a state favorable to women candidates.
In Washington State, incumbent Patty Murray is facing a stiff challenge as well. No less than the Cook Political Report lists her race as a “toss-up” and she has see-sawed with Republican Dino Rossi in the polls over the last six months. All of which brings us to Nevada and candidates with the last name Reid.
The son of Harry Reid, Rory Reid, is trailing by double digits, to Republican Brian Sandoval in their bid to be the Governor of Nevada. So toxic is Harry Reid’s 52% unfavorable rating that his son is, well, not “emphasizing” their last name in ads. On the other side of Harry Reid is the spirited Sharon Angle who leads Reid but as much as 7% in the latest polling.
All together, Republicans have an enormous opportunity to win 3 Senate seats long thought beyond reach and a critical Governorship out West in the 2010 midterms – and they will be aided in that endeavor by something that hurt Western Republican candidates so very much in 1996.
That certain something is the effect that Eastern losses have on Western voters. In 1996, Bob Dole’s Presidential showing (and early concession) discouraged Western Republican voters and led to significantly reduced votes for Republican candidates. This year, dire predictions about the Democrats chances in November are on the rise. So much so that the “National Journal’s Charlie Cook, the Beltway’s leading political handicapper, predicted last month ‘the House is gone,’ meaning a GOP takeover.”
On Election Day, after months and months of hearing bad news, and then actually witnessing bad news in the form losing House race after House race, Western Democrats – who otherwise vote in the late afternoons – may well be so discouraged that they will drive straight home – just as many Republicans did in 1996.
How big an impact will that dynamic be in 2010? Quite possibly large enough for a sweep of those 4 races and more IF.
The IF is whether Republicans will be rady to capitalize on that dynamic. Western Republican Partys simply must put together unprecendted GOTV efforts this Fall. Beyond the normal election day push, if Republicans are willing to push hard between 4 pm and 8 pm Western time to make sure every possible Republican vote is cast, Republicans will have a chance to defeat the likes of Boxer and Brown. Simple said, the opportunity for Republicans to Win the West is there – it is not a question of a way – it will, however, be a question of will.

I don't think I would call them Republicans. I'd call them RINOs. I know that we're supposed to vote for the lesser evil, but I don't think that there's any difference between these two and their Dem opponents. Unless someone can give me a straight answer about this.
They are an evil I will accept so long as the evil they do undoes the evil that has been done.
These women have a good chance of restoring order to the wild wild west; liberalism has destroyed CA and it's time for serious leadership. There was a surprising poll last week regarding Hussein's approval rating in CA. It's at 40%; this is unheard of in CA, if OJ Simpson were a CA democrat politician he'd have at least a 60% approval rating. If Conservatives take CA it's over for democrats.
Yesterday I read a very troubling article but not surprising. Apparently there are several prominent members in the GOP that detest the Tea Party, they prefer the status quo where they can make back room deals with the democrats and go along to get along. If it wasn't for these spineless Republicans such as Trent Lott we wouldn't have Hussein for president. If we had Conservative leaders they would have demanded that Hussein provide all the documents that Bush was required to provide, and if Hussein refused, well, he can back to his junior senate seat where he didn't do shyt and didn't have the courage to vote one way or another instead opting for the cowards "present" vote.
"One of the good old boys of the club who can speak freely because he’s on the outside lobbying in now is the former leader of the Senate Republicans, Trent Lott………..
Former Senate majority leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), now a D.C. lobbyist, warned that a robust bloc of rabble-rousers spells further Senate dysfunction. “We don’t need a lot of Jim DeMint disciples,” Lott said in an interview. “As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them.”
But Lott said he’s not expecting a tea-party sweep. “I still have faith in the visceral judgment of the American people,” he said."

They are probably the best we can expect here in the "left coast" right now until someone pristine, charismatic, and with a REAL spine like Ronald Reagan starts getting attention.
That was a tongue twister Missy!
Thank you my dear…
Meg seems like another Arnold, nothing more. The real battle is in the assembly and senate. It is those corrupt, communist knuckleheads, that control the state, the budget and the laws. A weak governor will just let them continue to run freely. The masses of CA in the inner Cities (they historically control the vote) have finally figured out they can vote for politicians that continually give them "free stuff". Jerry Brown will put us on an "obama-esk" hyper drive into insolvency. Sad state of affairs for CA–my home.
The jury is still out on Carly. Even a RINO would be better than, "don't call me Mam" barbara boxer.
Simple axioms for any potential candidate to follow.
Tea Party 101 principles:
* Be open and honest;
* Speak truthfully;
* Listen to and work for the American people;
* Adhere to the Constitution and your oath of office;
* Support smaller government;
* Lower taxes.
Living up to these standards are why politicians are so terrified!!!
" “As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them.”"
And that's what happens. Far too many Congresswhores go to Washington with their virtue intact, but they're quickly deflowered and go to work for pimps. They go to DC to do good, but wind up staying to do well.
Notice where Lott decided to stay after he was booted out: he ceased to be a Mississippian long ago. He's a Washingtonian.
Frankly, I LOVE the fact that certain sane states (Virginia, Texas) have part-time legislatures which only meet for a few weeks, and legislators are expected to have real jobs the rest of the time.
Witman is just new raw meat for California's lunatic Dem legislature. To be honest it would be better the sooner California crashes and burns. A lot more pain needs to happen before California voters demand a Chris Christie. They aren't there yet.
There is no "straight answer" other than Witman and Fiorina AREN'T re-treaded lefty moonbat Jerry Brown nor Barbara Boxer. RINO's or not you've got to take what you can get. And, that's as good as it gets in California right now. The option is to sit home, wait for perfection, and keep the worst lefties in power for another term. Not smart.
We need to find some people with spinal fortitude in Cali and on the leftist coast in general, I'm hopeful she'll do what is right but I don't expect any truly conservative awakenings from her any time soon…
Cali's downfall was when the part-time legislature was made a full time brothel.
The Angle campaign in Nevada better get their act together or they will definitely screw the pooch. I've grown rather tired of the daily emails from the Tea Party Express begging for money for that campaign. Much as I detest Harry Reid I am not a bottomless pit of money for campaigns outside of my state.
Melissa's axiom…
"My friends love me because they can always tell me when I'm wrong, my enemies despise me because I'm always right."
Great platform. Very simple, and means the most to all of US in the Tea party.
Resist Federal Tyranny
Meg Whitman I can get behind.
Carly Fiorina, no. She will be an improvement over Boxer only in that she will be an R- instead of a D-. Yes, she has extensive private sector experience, ALL OF IT BAD. Her tenure as CEO of companies like HP and Lucent were to the CEO career what Barack Obama is to the Presidency.
We need to get over this notion that conservatives cannot win in liberal states. Hell YES they can, because conservatism can be proven to work. Unlike liberalism. States like California are literally bankrupt. If we don't take over and save them with conservatism now, we never will.
I am confident Meg Whitman won't be "Ahnold 2.0" but Carly Fiorina will just end up being the "west coast triplet" addition to the Maine Twins.
Starting to get concerned that the racism card is getting out of hand.
woooo, ol Trent is still a tad testy there, ain't he?? He, he, he,,,,,,,he rolled over like a cowed dog
for the RINO Bush, but thought we'd back him up when he got his titr……….still bitter, evidently.
We need a law that these former Reps and Senators can't go to work as lobbyist or attorneys for
lobbying firms, or anything related to US Govt function. Go home and sit on the damn porch.
On a local talk show I heard an amazing bit of info that exemplifies the differences between Conservative/liberal philosophies and is related to the oil spill. Conservatives have a golden opportunity to highlight this vast contrast which applies to nearly every aspect of society………….
Hussein and his fellow eggheads and bureaucrats in the federal govt were nonexistent in combating any of the oil heading for the shores, as a matter of fact Hussein was an obstruction to preventative measures. So Hussein eventually brings in a Nobel prize recipient with no experience in the oil industry to stare at the leak and scratch his head. This is what you get from an incompetent, over bloated bureaucracy run by leftwing imbeciles.
Enter the Plumber, not Joe the plumber. One night not long ago an engineering professor in San Fransisco received a call from a plumber who had designed a cap to stop the leak. The plumber described the design and function and sent the professor some drawings with specs on how it would work. Apparently he wanted nothing in return, just wanted to help. This cap design was forwarded to engineers involved with the spill and they immediately recognized this was the answer and quickly built it. It took a private sector plumber to solve what the useless federal govt couldn't figure out, or BP, but the point is don't look to the govt for answers, they're the problem.
Nice.

Martin Luther King, Jr.
VIVA LA TEA PARTY!!
And when Jerry Brown, during his first moon-beam experience, signed into law the CA State government unions. Now we have their unfunded retirement program that will lead to the fall of this State.
Nicely stated.
The Tea Party needs a better message, a message that will reach more people, or the Tea Party will just have to accept candidates that are RINOS….pretty much what we are doing now, they may be RINOS but we can still force them to do our bidding, but only if we cut through the Malaise with a large majority supporting us instead of them–this is all about a message that speaks to the majority of Americans.
The message we can use is capitalism—Time for America to cash in on our decades long and billions of dollars of funding and investments in the DOE and EPA . The time is now to pick the low hanging fruit that We The People already bought and paid for, why are we investing in future-tech when we could be cashing in on our reality-tech investment of the past few decades. Say no to a tax payer funded smart grid for utilities and big tech, say no to carbon credits for wall Street, Say no to big government subsides in future-tech "winners" and say yes to lower energy cost, say yes to a cleaner environment and say yes to a secure All American energy policy. Say yes to cashing in on Americas past investment and research, say yes to existing reality-tech "
The Tea Party needs to cut through the Malaise and gather support on a green energy through capitalism and cashing in on our past investments platform, we need to force the RINOS to take a capitalist stand on energy,– Replace a tax on on all energy with zero taxes on all forms of alternative energy– Embrace natural gas and the already proven profitability of today's green energy the way the DOE and the EPA do…""CHP Provides a Profitable Path to “Going Green”"
"CHP can avoid 60% of the potential growth in carbon dioxide emissions between 2006 and 2030"
"CHP and distributed energy allow the grid to function more efficiently. CHP systems are among the most efficient heat and power generating systems available, in many cases approaching 80 percent efficiency, thus reducing energy costs to the consumer and emissions to the environment "
"technology can be deployed quickly, cost-effectively, and with few geographic limitations."
"CHP should be one of the first technologies deployed for near-term carbon reductions. The cost-effectiveness and near-term viability of widespread CHP deployment place the technology at the forefront of practical alternative energy solutions such as wind, solar, clean coal, biofuels, and nuclear power. Clear synergies exist between CHP and most other technologies that dominate the energy and environmental policy dialogue in the country today. As the Nation transforms how it produces, transports, and uses the many forms of energy, it must seize the clear opportunity afforded by CHP in terms of climate change, economic competitiveness, energy security, and infrastructure modernization."
Time is running out to stop cap and trade, the Tea Party has lost every battle so far, waiting for November is a losing strategy, time to cut through the Malaise
Jimmy Carter's National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski: "I think we're now going through a phase in which there is a sense of pervasive malaise, which affects different groups in society in different ways." http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/07/16...
The Department of Energy (DOE) has provided us with the road map, a road map that has already borne a maturing industry (CHP currently comprises 8.6 percent of US electricity generation) that has wide use and acceptance in our industrial, utility and sectors, both in the US and around the world. Fruit from decades of research and investment, much of which We The small People have already paid for–these past and proven investments are ready to cash in, today. And Dr. Steven Chu US. Secretary of Energy, (I think I heard that he is a Nobel Prize Award winner) has given us our battle cry…“When it comes to saving money and growing our economy, energy efficiency isn’t just low hanging fruit; it is fruit lying on the ground. The most prosperous, competitive economies of the 21st century will be those that use energy efficiently. It’s time for America to lead the way.” Time to bait and switch and take back our country, time for the The Green Tea Party to take the field, and kick some Olinsky ass-The Time is now, to GUT cap & tax!!!
It don't matter what the poll numbers are, even if the survey was honest. The Republicans had better get someone into the old folks homes and the hospitals to make sure the Democrats don't "help" the mentally incompetent vote.
I don't know what's up with that, anyhow. The doctors and nurses know good and well that Obama is going to put them out of business, yet they allow the Democrats to pull that sort of thing?
Certainly hope your post generates some discussion there sorebird,……..
"………Provides a Profitable Path to “Going Green”,…………"
I have often wondered why more people do look at the concept of,…….
going green as a,…. win win situation.
Writing your words is a journey of discovery and I'm really enjoying this ride, it is my passion…
I've commented – as have others- in other pieces on this topic that the leftists controlling the California state legislature need to be removed and replaced if there is going to be real economic reform. Otherwise, the Golden State will continue being the Pyrite State.
If Whitman wins, we'll have to see if she takes advantage of the line-item veto power Arnold couldn't bother to use. I'm uncertain whether schmoozing will enable her to win over the legislature. She doesn't come across as a "Great Communicator" in speeches I've heard. If she can't convince the legislature by "Christie-talk" to get on board her agenda, all she'll have to counter the tax-and-spenders and unions will be a veto, whether line-item or whole. More below…
Continued..
Fiorina looks nicely positioned to KO Boxer to the election canvas. I don't see how she'll be of much help to California, but at least she's not as utterly vapid and prideful as Senator "Don't-Call-Me-Ma'am."
Whitman's battle will prove tougher. Brown's got lots of pull still with and long-held ties to the state legislature. But of the two, Whitman's far less likely to tow the status quo. While saddened to say so, I think California's forever lost, due to massive illegal immigration and anchor babies, both of which have completely changed the state's demographics, resulting in a left-of-center electorate.
My thought related to the Nevada contest: Sharron Angle's got to take a bit more of a moderate position on social issues when stumping if she's going to draw enough voters to knock-out ex-boxer Dingy Harry Reid. She's not polling well. Her "extreme right" platform will repel just enough to keep Reid in power – watch.
Even a RINO would be an improvement over Babs (dumber than a) Boxer Hammers. Besides, even the wimpiest, most worthless pseudo-Republican STILL is one more vote to replace Reid and gain control of the committees.
"In Washington State, incumbent Patty Murray is facing a stiff challenge as well. No less than the Cook Political Report lists her race as a “toss-up”"
Doesn't matter. The Washington Dem-ACORN vote fraud machine is every bit as effective as Illinois'. Remember de Gregoire's "election?"
Lobbiests need to be outlawed, period. I think they are just another legacy of the Wilson administration. ppffffffttt.
Good story. It's amazing how innovation, and idea riches can come from the everyday person, including plumbers.
If you go to http://talktomeg.ning.com/ and click on the "General" topic in the forums, you'll see how well she's doing with conservatives. The illegal issue is fomenting revolt amongst those who voted for her in the primary. People are hopping mad and she better start listening. I'm ready to shift my vote to Chelene Nightingale.

Meg Whitman is for Amnesty! She's been quoted. She even has her campaign in Spanish.
Illegal Aliens are ruining this country's quality of life! with their Crimes, Diseases, Drugs, Rapes, draining Health, Education & Welfare systems meant for LEGAL CITIZENS, plus THEY ARE ILLEGAL!
(Go Governor Brewer! and Sheriff Arpaio! You are our American Hero's!! Michele Bachmann for President!)
Illegal's are displacing law-abiding people who followed the rules! I RESENT Meg Whitman for BUYING her way into politics! because of her Un-American position on Amnesty, which will give obama & Unions 30Millions Votes! Grrrr….. She will help obama.all the way to a 2nd Term!
She's for Amnesty which is Anti-American!
and she bought her way into politics where she doesn't belong. She will give obama the 30Million Votes from Amnesty that he's letting American's be murdered for on the Southern Border. She should go back to Ebay.
Problem is, that's about all they are good for. The more RINOS we elect, the more backstabbing "reaching across the aisle" we will see. Carly the cataclysmic HP CEO will end up, along with Scott Brown and the Maine Twins, more members of Lindsey Graham's "gang of".
Meg Whitman will deliver Amnesty to Obama with the 30Million Votes that he will use to get in for a second Term. She's POISON for US, and obama's /Unions / Radicals perfect team mate. She's toxic. A RINO of the worst kind.
"Frankly, I LOVE the fact that certain sane states (Virginia, Texas) have part-time legislatures"
Not sure where you're from Bohemond, but here in Texas our constitution only allows the legislature to meet every 2 years for 140 days. That's it. That's all they need to do our business. The less time we give them, the less they can screw us. AND, it obviously works…… we have a surplus and we have no state income tax.
The rest of the states need to have the stones to put that in their constitutions.
di da and cornpone,
I agree. Lobbies and gov't influence peddling has got to be addressed. That said, so far the list we have going would take the better part of two generations to get through. Realistically….i'm not seenin congress changing appreciably for decades, and the real danger there is once they get out of our faces, wallets, and bedrooms…..we tend to live our lives instead of taking turns watchin that hen house.
Face it….politics is boring, ugly, pompous, confusing, and on the whole….self governing therefore always corrupt to one degree or another. Every 10-20 years we get a mess like we got now and folks get riled….but put President bland, polite, cordial, and mostly harmless in, get enough of a split in congress that they have to seriously play nice with each other to get anything done and you will see the Tea Party and everyone else hittin the snooze button on election days in 2014-2020.
Sad but I think that's how it will play out.
Its very simple:
The harder you play zero-sum politics, the bigger you lose.
Right now the Democrats are making their best effort at purging everyone who will not tow their absolute party line. As a result, they are cruising for a bruising.
Social conservatives and fiscal conservatives can play the same game, excluding everyone who is not both, destroying their current cooperation, and turn control back over to Pelosi, Reid, and Obama in 2012. Heck, do a good enough job of it and you can skip the "back" part and just leave them in control now.
What I'd like to know as a victim of CA, is can't we do any better that Whitman who said Hillary is great and likes "Targeted Tax Cuts" this choosing winners and losers and Fironi who supported Al Gore ? Yea Brown would be an absolute disaster as he will raise taxes more, thus making a horrible situation worse.
It's doubtful even the most conservative governor could overcome the miscreants that 'serve' in the California legislature; they're just too entrenched with their bloated teats providing milk from the public trough to countless 'public' employees and hoards of other malingering do-nothings who see no reason to vote the gravy train off the tracks. Ah-nuld tried to slow the scum down a bit early on and was so burned by the effort that he essentially gave up.
Interesting, isn't it, how the fiscal decline of California follows linearly the decline in education of its citizens. Keep 'em stupid, give them something for nothing and you can bet your a^%& how they will (and have) vote.
On the flip, the only hope for preventing the headlong plunge toward the Greece of America is an even moderate (the word sticks in my craw) Republican who can stanch the hemorrhage with an occasional veto.
Where is John Galt??
Not only does the east coast marginalize CA and the west in general, they are not even sending any of our own tax money back our way. With all the military base closures through the years out west, I often wonder if we are just being written off as a future nuclear strike casualty already….
Swartzenegger tried to schmooz the idiot legislators too. That certainly did not work….
My grandfather was in a privately ran elder home facility stricken with alzheimers and still the democratic get the vote out people showed up trying to get a lifelong republican to vote democrat….
Instead, our so-called leaders want to spend trillions on green energy that will only provide 6% of our energy needs….wonder how we are going to "conserve" the other 94%??Welcome to the new dark ages….
Yeah, this story was "briefly" on the media news….
Yeah, I keep writting,"Who in their right mind would even want to be governor of CA?"The legislators(who have missed yet another budget deadline and are on 'summer break') are destroying CA for good…
THEN: Californians elected and supported liberal politicians who squandered their tax dollars for years. The politicians entitled unions, welfare recipients, government drones, illegal aliens, those still mooching off mom and dad, and other worthless freeloaders, giving them taxpayer dollars. They said it could all be paid for by taxing the rich, taxing big business, taxing their children's future, credit, and other fiscal nonsense. Californians were happy, they were getting a free lunch.
NOW: Business is moving out, the rich are moving out, California has maxed out their credit, more freeloaders are moving in, taxes are going up, inflation is going up and the State is issuing IOUs. So what do the California politicians do? Boycott Arizona! What a bunch of incompetent morons.
So… Just how stupid are Californians? We will find out November 2nd. It is uncertain if Meg Whitman can bring California back from the brink but, electing Moonbeam Brown will be a commitment to disaster.

I know I'm going to suffer the "wrath of Khan" for playing "grammar and spelling police" here, but what's with the spelling and grammatical errors in the piece? Don't the people you hire proofread their work before posting, or submit their pieces to editors for review?
I mean, it's not like the piece was so bad, really, but show some attention to detail, please. I like reading the quality, conservative viewpoints on the Big sites. Is it too much to ask that they be as well written as the sentiments being offered are right? Am I all alone in thinking that writing on the Net should have standards equal with print? People who actually get paid -some quite well – for writing on websites (unlike the masses of commenters that don't) ought to write with as much care to their spelling and punctuation as writers of liberal print do, like those of the New Yorker, WSJ, or whatever leftist print newspapers. More below…
Even if truth and facts don't count to the leftists, punctuation and spelling still do. I guess some would rather have truth and facts than satisfyingly intelligent prose. For those of such a mind, deliberately try commenting with atrocious spelling and grammar for a bit, and see how long it takes before even the most lenient start telling you to learn how to write.
Oh, but some will retort, "It's what's being said that's important, not whether it's spelled or punctuated correctly!" Fine. Let's teach that to our kids in school instead. This attitude I think sets a bad precendent and can only lead to more laxity, which will produce increasingly poor online writing.
Is Brown any different from her on immigration?
His communication skills weren't as well developed as his body.
As you obviously are aware, Dino Rossi campaigned and lost twice to Christine Gregoire. I think the left coast of WA had a lot to do with those losses. I'm unsure his name recognition will be enough to unseat Murray, who has coastal money backing her. If Rossi wins – a big IF – it'll only to be by a nose.
Add to the lefty legislature the Mexicans, who constitute a huge Dem voting bloc, the homosexuals, who have lots of $$$, the teacher's union, and the filthy-$$$ Hollyweird elites, and you have the recipe for Greeceafornia complete.
California desperately needs a Chrise Christie type. Is it illegal for a governor to serve in more than one state concurrently?
California's become an appendage of Mexico.
These people are helping us win? I don't think so. It's more of the same bs and they will vote rat everytime.
If we in California can dump Boxer it will be party time here. It is so embarrassing to have her as our Senator. She is so out of touch it is sad!
Here here!!! Such elementary errors make our side look unintelligent, and also lazy (can't the writer find someone to spend 5 minutes proofreading his or her work before it gets posted??).
What, exactly, is Fiorina being expected to accomplish for California that will magically make pots of gold appear at the end of the rainbow? She'll have to face down the teachers and nursing lobby, the agriculture industry, and big businesses that continue to favor cheap Mexican labor. What kind of spending-reduction legislation does anyone see having a chance to get passed in California? Nothing will be done about illegal immigration. Who will have the khutzpah to stand up to the unions?
I hardly see Carly winning being cause for celebration. Granted, Boxer is terrible but what will Carly do better?
Unfortunately not. They're both a disaster on Illegal Aliens. They both want Illegals to "jump the line" instead of the great people from around the world who followed our Fed Immig Law, and have been patiently waiting, and really want to become productive Citizens and contribute to our Society.
Illegals don't even want to be Citizens. They want to make money and go home. The rest of the Illegals want to blow us up. It's the wrong way to go. It's not desirable. What about their Diseases? Following Legal Immigration Laws is best for America's quality of life, and our safety.
So I guess that Whitman's the lesser of two evils because she's a Repub of sorts, but Brown is farther left. We'll have to try to work with her. Maybe invite her to a Tea Party! We have nothing to lose, and everything to gain at this point.
As an immediate action I'm trying to get I.D. required for all Citizens to vote. That will cut a lot of voter fraud, as was seen in the last election, and will be attempted in this one.
I'm here with you, my CA friend. Meg is another Arnold, but what are we to do?
Yes, hopefully, we can make some headway in Sacramento.
I know, if you look at a map county by county, it is mostly LA, SF, Monterrey & a few others that send all the Dems to Sacramento & to DC. The rest of the counties go Red. (I'm starting to think that "Red" is not for Republican, but "Red" is for "RINO".
I would….stand up to the unions. They wouldn't get jack from me, but of course I can't get elected so that doesn't matter!
Sigh…. ugh, unfortunately, I don't think Carly will be all that much different than Boxer at the end of the day. But, if we have to have one or the other, at least I can look forward to the pleasure of calling Boxer's office the day after the election and leaving her a message to not let the door hit her in the rear on the way out!!
Sometimes I guess all we can hope for is just some petty fun!!
Once again conservatives have to vote for the lesser of two evils in California.
Meg Whitman is a TOTAL RINO, in fact it goes deeper than just being a run of the mill lib

"The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of great moral crises maintain their neutrality." is a quote from Dante.
Why don't we people learn? We get pissed off at demorats. We vote repubican. We get pissed off at repubicans. We vote demorat. Does this sound like a crazy carnival ride or what? Up, Down, Up, Down…Where does it end?
Only until the people EDUCATE themselves on WHAT makes government work. Adherence to a CORE set of principles. And learn when to recognize that we're being LIED to.
That might have been Dante, but mine is from Dr.King.
Scum sucking dung eaters.

Whitman literaly bought her primary election. She has aspirations for the White House and there is even a rumor that Romney said he'd pick her as his running mate. Why then would she offer Steve Poizner a senator seat in 2012 if he got out of the race if she didn't think she could have the pull to get it? She is nothing more than Arnold's third term. Fiorina is a fake, a total fake and, again, nothing more than a RINO. As a resident of California (no sympathies please), I can say firsthand that the California voters went strictly on tv ads and blindly voted for these two RINOS. Of course I don't want Jerry Brown, but I see these two as not too far off from that.
Thanks for detail on Virginia, I did not know that. That's awesome. Hmmmm…..just like the Founders envisioned public service to be. Now, all that has to happen is all the rest of the states get on board and we get term limits in DC.
I think I just went to Imagination Land.
