With No Primary Fight, Brown Launches ‘Reasonable Jerry’ Tour
by Thomas Del BeccaroNo surprise: Jerry Brown is running for office again. In Jerry’s words, “I’ve run for more offices than any other candidate that still is alive.” This time, he is the lone Democrat candidate running for Governor in California. Since his belated announcement last week, Jerry has done his best to sound reasonable as a candidate. Surely, California voters should know it is only an act.

In running for those many offices, Brown has taken countless liberal positions. As Governor, Brown empowered public employee unions, strongly opposed the death penalty and appointed judges who strongly opposed it. He opposed Prop 13 before he was for it – but only after the voters passed it. When he ran for President, in 1980, he was for universal health care and said his economic agenda was based, in part, on Buddhist Economics – followers of which endeavor to measure “Gross National Happiness.” In 1992, when he ran for the Presidency a third time, he touted “living wages,” fought free trade agreements and said he would consider Jesse Jackson as a running mate notwithstanding Jackson’s controversial if not anti-Semitic remarks. Such is the life of a career liberal like Jerry Brown.
In 2009, while still in the race for Governor, liberal Gavin Newsom said of Jerry Brown’s candidacy: “We’re not content to relive history. We’re going to keep making it.” To ensure that Brown’s latest history would not include a loss to Newsom, Brown resumed his liberal ways.
Brown attempted to kill Sen. George Runner’s Voter ID Initiative by dubbing it: LIMITS ON VOTING. INITIATIVE STATUTE. [which] Prohibits citizens from voting at the polls, unless they present a government-issued photo identification card. Under similar circumstances, Brown’s Democrat predecessor dubbed the Voter ID initiative he reviewed as “VOTER IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENT. INITIATIVE STATUTE.”
Brown filed a lawsuit against San Bernadino County for “failing to consider how growth and new development will impact climate change” – even though the regulations related to AB32 had yet to be put in place at the time of the lawsuit.
In 2008, Brown was also sure to say, before voters passed Prop 8, that it would not apply retroactively to the same sex marriages that Gavin Newsom “legalized” in San Francisco.
All of those positions and actions taken by Brown, on law and order/voting, the environment and social issues, are considerably Left of center and were either taken because he is that Liberal or because he wanted to make sure that then candidate Gavin Newsom would not get to the Left of Jerry Brown. But now Gavin is gone. There is no one for Jerry Brown to out-Left. Soooo, its apparently time for “Reasonable Jerry.”
Like: The “No tax increase Jerry” – unless the voters want it – meaning he is now against it before he might be for it, or
The “I will look at the pension crisis” Jerry – as if he will take on all those public employee unions he empowered, or
The “I will downsize state government” Jerry – even though the budget increased 120% when he was Governor.
And perhaps the coup de grâce, The “We don’t need mere ambition to be Governor” Jerry Brown.
Clearly, Jerry Brown knows no shame, and without Gavin Newsom in the race, he is trying to tack away from his Leftist rhetoric and embark on his newly discovered Reasonable Jerry Tour.
However, those watching Jerry well remember his comment that “It doesn’t matter what I say, as long as I sound different from other politicians.” Hopefully, this Fall, voters will understand the true Jerry Brown and let him know that it does matter what you say and even more what you have done.

"Moonbeam": The final nail in Democrat controlled welfare illegal alien state of Mexifornia. Enjoy! [Atlas has Shrugged]
Honesty doesn't seem like a very common characteristic among politicians.
A couple good cartoons about Obama's "truthfulness" at http://drawfortruth.wordpress.com/category/truthf...
Heeeeeeers Jerry!
"No surprise: Jerry Brown is running for office again."
The consummate, perpetual campaigner. Jerry has been running for, or against something all his life. If I could ask Ol' Moonbeam one question, I'd like to aske him how that ACORN investigation thingey is going for him?
He will pull a "Barak"
Campaign as a centrist but govern as a total liberal.
Ah…Governor Moonbeam just what California needs to finish the state off.
Governor Moonbeam redux? No thanks, we've had enough celebutards in the state house, we don't need to recycle the old one.
That is if he wins…
It will be very interesting to see if Kalifornians wake up and smell the tofu.
Come on <sarc>… Kalifornia has never met a recycling program it didn't love.
More hype and che…
More of that will work out well, won't it California…?
pooooor ol jerry, he was born with a silver foot in his ass.
Still trying to live up to daddies expectations, I see.
California is like a race horse with a broken leg,,,,only one course of treatment,,,,humanely shoot it in the head!
“I’ve run for more offices than any other candidate that still is alive.”
Get a real job for once you liberal SOB!
Meg Whitman is well on her way to purchasing…er I mean, running for Governor. Hopefully she will make good on most of her nebulous promises, I doubt it.
The alternative, Atty. Gen. Brown, as an alternative is unthinkable.
But this is California and Jerry Brown is hoping most people won't remember what he did when he was Gov. last time.
This is the most exciting time in Republican history in almost 20 years. This should also be exciting to every independent that is sick of the government as it stands today. The Republicans know that this is their last chance. They know the people are ready to throw them all out if we need to the next election and that is why I believe they are more likely to behave. Let us hope. I am constantly watching the polls and the election on: http://www.americanparchment.com/library/election... Did you see that Hoffman was back. Let us see what we can do to get true conservative candidates into Congress and push the corrupt liberals, dems, and reps out.
Still living large, like the Rockefellers. Only Jerry is living off that Pertamina Oil Stock fortune.
Gotta love those hypocritical politicians, eh?
Jay Rockefeller (D) WV- Standard Oil and the Seven Sisters.
Jerry Brown (D) CA- Pertamina
Al Gore (D) TN- Occidental Petroleum and Island Creek Coal
Yet THEY, get to lecture US? Go figure……..
I don't believe even Californians are dumb enough to give Governor Moonbeam a second shot at screwing us up worse than we already are, we have been watching his actions regarding ACORN, he is not fulfilling his job now how would you expect him to act in the Governors seat? I expect to see a Republican Governor this time. Meg Whitman has my vote.
I so warmed by your thoughtful comment about the intelligence of California voters. But live here, and most voters here are about as sharp as a sack of pudding. That's why we have mostly Democrats running the place (or RINOs like Arnie) and running it into the ground. So far, I'm staying and fighting.
“I’ve run for more offices than any other candidate that still is alive.”
How many offices has this guy held? Four, five, or more? Everytime he leaves a position he gets another 'state pension'. This greedy control freak wants to take another dip into the State Treasury.
Come on California, it's your turn to vote this piece of crap out of your lives so your state is not destitute!!! Follow Massachusetts by voting the right person in who respects your views and will obey the vote of the people. Enough of these pompous fools who think we owe them a life as the expense of America, Vote them out!!!
This election is really the final sink or swim moment for California. Often political philosophy gets lost in voter sentiment or candidate personality or a change mentality. I understand why Obama won the presidency, even if I don't agree with it, the Republican lack of leadership + a weak candidate made it possible for "Hope and Change" to win the day. There is no "change" with Jerry there is no personality cult of "hope" He is really the posterchild for modern liberalism, no ideas, no plans, no inkling of what to do other than vague "feel good" legislation that costs billions. Meg Whittman is smart, and she has a very detailed and viable plan to turn the state of Califronia arround. If she looses we're done here. I don't want to sound apocalyptic, but if you can't make the right choice between two candiates that have such a clear distinction between them, then there is no hope in any subsequent election. The Fiscal Conservative/Liberal divide will never be as clearly delineated as it is here and now.
California is the definition of insanity…doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Anyone who votes for this tool is either too old to remember his first time around, which is where the deficit spiral began, or didn't live here and just plain doesn't know.
Anyone could do better than this Old flake. When does it end. Moonboob has had his hand in someone elses pocket for his entire life and it wasnt for pocket pool.
I grew up there and miss it at times, but then I read that Jerry is running for GOV. again and thank God I got out. PLS California fire up the "WAYBACK" machine and remember what that MORON did as GOV. before you destroy yourselves.
Thx nolo, I almost posted something similar about the average Cali voter, but thought better of
it , since I don't reside there.
I believe something akin to Cali is what this Adm has mind for the whole USA, dumb'd down
through illegal alien participation in our Fed election process. Txz will be next.
Where's he gonna work? He has no skills, and no sense. Government is the only place he's qualified for.
Forget Republicans, forget Democrats. We need to elect non-Progressives, wherever we find them.
Most Republicans will be progressives, and/or RINOs. Electing them doesn't help us fix a damn thing.
I vote that we do unto California as the EU did unto Greece: suspend it's voting priveledges!
All CA representives and senators are recalled from the nat'l legislature. They have no votes. Any other states in similar financial situations also lose their voice in national politics. Get your own house in order before you go influencing national policy!
Grew up there too…. Loved the beaches and the mountains, miss them and my friends. Watched as the illegal’s and the politicians and the transplants from other states brought in their progressive agenda’s. Jerry Brown is the BEST the Dems have! Lord, now that’s scary.
jerry will fit right in with all the other nuts running the asylum. This is getting worse by the day. Pray now !!!
God-speed painless, it IS serious business for California & the Nation.
He's lookin' at it…not doing anything…just lookin'!
If I have to make a choice…keep Pelosi and get rid of Brown. Sucks!
2 of 2
Brian Sussman (local talk radio) reported that during the 08 campaign, B. Hussein O. Jr. made a deal with Los Angeles homos to make sure that California second grade text books are steeped in gay ideologies. I don't care what Brown wants to do with his penis, but if the rumors are true (and I am not absolutely sure that they are). I wonder what deals Brown might have in mind for propogandizing to children?
I have to agree, Pelosi will be neutered come November. Brown will DESTROY the state.
" … Jerry Brown is hoping most people won't remember what he did when he was Gov. last time."
Well, of course they won't remember !
Just one more benefit of Medical Marijuana …
Cherlene Nightingale, primaries are for voting your conscience.
Glad I left Ca in 1998. I miss riding my Hog through the Sierras but the Government out there is nuts.
We delt with old moonbeam back when I was in High School – it was embarassing then. Now I only have to deal with a fake rancher (the lier is implied due to him being in office) with a bolo tie as gov. At least he understands gun rights. If you don't like the NEW and IMPROVED moonbeam do what I did when I turned 18 – leave CA and just visit.
The problems of the individual states will no longer be major issues for the 50 states,…. because
the future is going to be centrally determined……
The role of governors will be to merely mind the company store.
So it will not matter Moonbeam, the barbarian,….. hell take your pick.
All points well taken on California. But a bigger picture item is how bereft of new ideas and leadership the suppposedly progressive, hip Democratic party is. It is a party of ancient political hacks: Rangel, Stark, Pelosi, Reid, Levin, Brown, Specter and on and on. And they have no new ideas – just the same treadworn socialist crap that has failed everywhere it has been implemented in the last 100 years. Do the kids even get this?
Why are all the politicians in California so OLD… Maria looks like a mummy, Aunald looks like a painted mask, Pelosi looks like her face is going to break or her eyeballs are going to blow. Don’t you have any good looking old people or some intelligent young ones there? Oh, they’ve all moved? Too bad.
Brown will be so awful, he will make Schwarzenegger look like a great governor! If we get Brown, it will be the final nail in California. I pray the voters of California will remember what he did to the state last time he was governor, but the voters of California never cease to show their stupidity! I hope people from other states will donate to his opponent in the general election, or their tax dollars will be bailing California out if he becomes governor…
By the way, John & Kenhave a picture of Jerry with his best bud Jim Jones, posted on their web page. This needs to be kept handy, for when we need posters. http://www.kfiam640.com/pages/jk2010.html
I am conflicted about Meg Whitman. Is she a RINO or is she legit? Poizner and Brown are both douchebags. Whitman may be paying for her own campaign because the establishment may not support her.
California Republicans are a joke. Just look at Arnold. The closer her gets to his last day in office, the more liberal he sounds. It's like Ted Kennedy's soul has possessed his body. He's now talking nonsense like, "taxes are good and american." He's still pitching climate change and green fraud economics. California GOP is filled with a bunch of castrated cattle herded along by Democrats. It's embarrassing.
Is Whitman a wealthy RINO just like the rest or a deep pocketed outsider going her own way to get past the flack?
IF ITS BROWN, FLUSH IT DOWN!!!
