Terrorism Critics Admonished by Obama Security Advisor
by Kristinn Taylor and Andrea Shea King
Three terror attacks on U.S. soil in their first year and the Obama administration dares lecture us?
It takes a special kind of arrogance to lecture the American people about terrorism. Especially when in the past year, your administration has allowed three al Qaeda-related terrorists to carry out attacks on U.S. soil.
But that’s what the Obama administration has done with Deputy National Security Advisor John Brennan’s op-ed in today’s USA Today entitled We Need No Lectures.
Brennan even goes so far as to accuse critics of the Obama administration of aiding al Qaeda.
Brennan boasts of the Obama administration’s successes against global terrorism:
This administration’s efforts have disrupted dozens of terrorist plots against the homeland and been responsible for killing and capturing hundreds of hard-core terrorists, including senior leaders in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and beyond — far more than in 2008. We need no lectures about the fact that this nation is at war.
Brennan fails to mention the two successful attacks on the Little Rock recruiting center that killed one soldier and wounded another, and at Fort Hood that killed twelve soldiers, a civilian and a babe in the womb, and leaving wounded another thirty-eight people.
Brennan writes about the Christmas Day bombing attack on Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit but neglects to mention it failed because of a combination of passengers’ intervention and the terrorist’s own incompetence.
Brennan accuses Obama’s critics in harsh terms:
Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda.
Brennan mocks the public’s concerns about the administration’s commitment to protecting the homefront, using a schoolyard taunt:
Terrorists are not 100-feet tall.
No, they’re not. But they have been known to drive trucks laden with explosives; hijack airliners, using them as missiles to murder thousands; and shooting up military installations — all on American soil.
The Obama administration, by its own words and deeds, has set itself up for the soft-on-terrorism charge that Brennan attempts to rebut in his op-ed. Its record of three failures to stop attacks on the homeland during their first year follows the Bush Administration’s unbroken record of seven years without attack after 2001. It is a damning indictment that Brennan and the Obama administration are not getting the job done.
Terrorists may not be 100 feet tall, but they are kicking Obama around on American soil like he’s two feet tall.
The nasty, condescending attitude Brennan projects on behalf of Barack Obama toward the American people is a perfect illustration of what Sarah Palin pointed out this past weekend when she said Obama’s attitude is “sit down and shut up.”
With Obama’s record of failure to keep the country safe, it is Obama and his advisors who need to “sit down and shut up”. And get about the business of protecting us instead of defending their failures by offending Americans.

Terrorists are not 100 feet tall?
Well there you have it folks, the sum total of the Obama Administration's understanding of the war on terror!
I feel much safer now.
These bums need to be kicked out of office. There is no way in the world this country would put up with such an inept organization or ever dare let a President lie to our faces as this one has without taking some kind of serious action. If Obama were not African American he would be impeached. We let P/C rule at our own demise. The MSM or "Fringe Media" are star struck propagandist and Americans are proving ever bit as foolish as P.T. Barnum declared.
This administration is dangerous. 2010 and 2012 cannot come soon enough.
OhBombUs will do what he has always done, blame the previous administration.
It should be clear to every American by now, that this administration does NOT care about the security of this nation! Obama is too worried about placating his Arab friends, rather than ruffling any feathers! He is a complete and total disgrace as a president! He has (and continues to) surround himself with the absolute worst of the low-life he can find to 'help' him achieve his goals…to destroy the social infrastructure of this country!
OK so let me get this right, hopey and his crew are using that bastion of truth and justice in journalism, USA Today to admonish the American people. I guess Mad magazine and High Times turned them down.
Simply amazing! With the chants of the left and their railing on about the Iraq war and their demand that 'dissent is patriotic' that these a$$e$ could even suggest that we are the one politicizing or giving aid to al queda is beyond belief. For all his faults and there were many GW kept us safe for 7 1/2 years. Sandy Burger is the only one to know what could have prevented 9-11 but that went into his pants and will never be seen. Jamie Gorelick a democrat favorite should have been giving testimony to the 9-11 commission instead of sitting on it. they have so much to answer for and I am deeply afraid that there will be even more heinous reasons to be angry with the pretender in chief and his lack of ba!!s.
And it took a year of intelligence gathering for this administration to figure that one out.
Brennan specifically called out "poltically motivated criticism" and guess who popped up to attach their names to that tactic? The entire GOP, while Big Government predictably shills for them. Typical that neither the GOP nor their propaganda tools Big Government can tell the difference between sincere concerns and politically motivated criticism.
One successful attack and this administration will collapse.
It will be Carter after Desert One.
I'm getting pretty tired of being lectured by our current government. "We The People" should be lecturing the government since we're the ones that put them there, not the otherway around. My mother didn't lecture me this much, and she was a pro!
This administration is so busy fighting its enemies, the American people, so that they do not have the time to take care of the the Islamist Terrorist. I mean think about it logically. If they pass the Healthcare bill, we will be deprived our miranda rights, rights to property, and sent to jail if you dont participate in their progressive/socialist agenda. If you are a terrorist, you are giving your miranda rights, the ability to plea-bargain, and if you cooperate, they will put the terrorist in protective custody and they can get the property of what Obama thinks America's enemies really are. The American People themselves.
And 4 Round table meetings, 2 summits, 1 conference, 234 speeches, and 1 trip back to his mother land to apologize…All on our dime. Weeeeeee!
I love how Brennan says: "We need no lectures about the fact that this nation is at war." and then turns around to preach how we shouldn't treat these guys like enemy combatants.
Brennan doesn't need a lecture. He needs a functioning brain first.
Obama = Carter's second term. Any Democrap stupid enough to support this loser any longer is finished.
Sounds like you're engaging in politically-motivated criticism of Breitbart's site.
Are you opposing the Christmas bomber being handled in exactly the same way as the Shoe Bomber for purely political reasons, or do you actually believe that holding a trial according to our nation's rules of law is going to lead to massive destruction of life? If the former then you deserve to be lectured. If the latter then you are just a moron. Either way Brennan wasn't talking to you. This is America, learn English.
One of Obamas major character issues is that he is so arrogant, that he cannot understand that the American people are pretty understanding. And if he was to lay it all out, and not hide behind anything, chances are he would get more accomplished. Unfortunately what he is hiding is so Haynes, that American people are not only on to him, but have become thoroughly disgusted. It's to late for him to come clean now, he has to much invested, and to much has been invested into him being where he is. Obama will continue to placate his special interests, all the while keeping the main focus on the Progressive agenda, and ignoring US as much as possible.
Purely politically motivated criticism is criticism which the speaker knows to be untrue but will toss around in public anyway just to try to score political points. The idea that holding a civilian trial for the Christmas bomber the same way we did for the Shoe Bomber is somehow going to lead to mass terrorist attacks on our nation is purely political nonsense. The GOP doesn't actually believe this, they just want to stir the pot. For that they deserve to be called out by Brennan.
See! This is what pisses me righteously off about Obama and his fawning Lame Stream Media. He gets elected on the rhetoric that he will be a "facilitator", a peace-maker. When our enemies (rightfully) take this as a sign of weakness and attack us…WE get attacked again by our own Communist Media for having the temerity to say anything about it! Excuse me while I throw up in my waste basket.
Yes, showing that our society is mroe civilized than the terrorists and can handle their cowardly agents under our normal rules of law is sure emboldening them! Are you joking?
And it's typical that you can't count to three. Three terrorist attacks in one year on his watch. Let me help you.
1.
2.
3.
Don't worry. The sad and horrifying shame of this admin. is that there will be more. The good news is you'll be learning to count new numbers.
How's you finger painting? Need some help with that too?
Your comment has literally nothing to do with what I typed or with this article.
Called out by Brennan???
I interpreted his "op-ed" as a direct list of personal faults and omissions of this administration, guised as criticism. Brennan made an ass of himself, and is just another fine example of the quality of people we have surrounding the President. A real class act he is…! Bravo Mr. Brennan, Bravo…</slight vomit in mouth>
If a terrorist wants to get this admins attention all they need to do is start messing with the individuals appointed to the government postiions. Read the Post daily and throw a dart and you have a candidate. They will do anything to protect a nice red progressive.
You are so right because abolutely _none_ of the criticism of the last eight years was at all politically motivated.
/sarcasm
So, two wrongs make a right?
If Brennon had a brain he'd take it out and play with it.You idiot your not supposed to scold you boss shame . who ever raised you did a very BAD JOB.
Brennan must have never seen or heard Hillary Clinton's shriekathon. You know the time when she said that to question her patriotism when she was opposed to the W's war policies.
Brennan is bureaucrat and an ass kisser…
It's how he's succeeeded. Any insider will tell you that when Obama took over no real expert could pass th politically correct litmus test demanded by the left. Certainly nobody in Operations. Couldn't have roughed up a terrorist, y'see.
Ergo Brennan. Last man standing pretty much. Understands the biz but is not respected for either insight, intellect or decision making ability.
Perfect for Obama…
Only if the two wrongs originally had good intentions of being right. And if the right has always been right, then and only then will two wrongs make a right.
Do you normally respond with questions, or statements? Just asking…Because I'm expecting another question to be your response to this…Just saying….
I can't speak for the GoP, but the issue of whether he is treated as a civilian does not center around a greater threat of attack surrounding a trial(and you seem to think that's what all the criticism is about)…it's national security issues and whether he should have been mirandized and handed a lawyer.
The idea that a person perpetrating an act of war against the country that immediately admits he has knowledge of more attacks by an enemy organization is handed a lawyer and mirandized after 50 minutes of interrogation is absolutely moronic.
No, just like you pointed below, people don't think giving him a civilian trial will miraculously result in mass terrorist attacks, but you're choosing the one lame argument among a bunch of good ones to base all your political ire.
There is a precedent being set that any foreign extremist can spend years training to blow up Americans, get access to our country, fail or succeed at killing a bunch of Americans, and they'll be handed a top notch lawyer who will make sure any evidence obtained outside the strict guidelines afforded our U.S. citizens will not be admissible. It's a horrible precedent and It's truly sad that Americans fight for these guys to have rights.
When an enemy combatant has knowledge of more attacks that we could potentially prevent, it seems that you (and the Obama administration) would rather them be left alone and if more Americans die so be it. It's insane.
The Obama administration has "disrupted dozens of terrorist plots against the homeland"? Really? DOZENS? I'd like to see that list, please, Mr. Brennan.
Of course you can't understand what I posted. I expected as much. I'd explain it to you further but I highly doubt you will see the elephant in the room.
The article by John Brennan is stupid because it actually does more political damage than needed. If he genuinely sees anyone politically interfering with his work let him call them out, not phase it in "politically motivated" terminology! Neither administration has been 100% successful in defending us against terrorists, and the country would be better served by the deputy national security advisor doing his job rather than sounding off…
I believe that Obama and his administration have a different approach because of a somewhat different objective
that they don't want to make obvious to everyone. And that is mid-east peace. And I don't say that in a positive way or to say that he is doing good. But it looks like a back-word psychological approach in that he has been trying to fool all of the mid-east into thinking that Obama and the USA are now for the rest of the apposing mid-east states and the muslim world all the while portraying a false negative attitude towards Israel. Obama and the administration must of thought that they could come in and be the opposite of president Bush and portray us all differently now to the rest of the world. Always apolgizing for us now and trying to make it look like we are not that evil country anymore, with a different attitude toward Islam so he dragged his feet in advancing war in Afghanistan so he wouldn't look just the same as Bush did. There seamed to be this big effort to make Bush and his administration look like the bad ones to everyone, even the whole world.
The bush administration is the scapegoat for the ultimate agenda of global governance disguised as world peace and mid-east peace.
Just because the Shoe Bomber was handled that way doesn't mean it was right. But you have a point that people should've objected a lot more to that handling than they did. Maybe people are finally waking up.
Our nations' rules allow the government to treat terrorsits as enemy combatants not entitled to Constitutional protection. Obama decided to extend that protection anyway, even as he authorizes the military to kill suspected terrorists without so much as an arraignment if they're not on US soil. What logical hoops he had to jump through to arrive at that policy one can only imagine – but it's safe to say protecting Americans didn't figure large in the calculus.
Torturing terrorists to wring all information out of them, and then putting a bullet in their heads DOES prevent massive loss of life. It gives us the intel we need to prevent future attacks, and it's a deterrent.
Part of the job of the POTUS is to protect us from terrorists. So far 3 attacks and no response from the WH. You do not bow to terrorists or give a "shout out" after an attack. Your job is to protect the people of the US, well you can at least try to keep most of us alive until 2012 so someone else can do the job.
You right wing cowards need to calm down. Terror is a tactic and it only works if you become so frozen by fear that you change your behavior. Don't let them see you squirm like little school girls. Time to man up and stand for something.
Hey mika, they let you out on your ACORN perjury charges? How much was bail? ;-D
Yes, I'm sure Al Qaeda operatives everywhere are thinking "I'd better not mess with these people. They'll read me Miranda rights."
He also got elected because he is a mulatto!
No white person would EVER have been so pushed, on the one hand, by the MSM, nor have their entire background so ignored/not investigated!
BRAVO……………..great post and spot on!
You ladies omitted a successful terrorist attack: the assassination of George Tiller by Scott Roeder.
Not Likely, it's not very likely that you have any working brain cells.
"SCORE POLITICAL POINTS" ? Isn't that exactly what Obama and his minions do every single day, by blaming everything, including the last snowstorm on BUSH ?
You really are extremely ignorant; not to mention an idiot!
Except that you know that Barry and his thugs wsill blame the attack on Bush/claim that it is just a man made criminal problem.
TERROR ? Barry and Janet don't believe there is such a thing, nor are there any "terrorists" anywhere, at all and BTW, Osama bin Laden is just a rural country loving caveman, who is searching the mountains for endangered flora and fauna.
These Obamaites are going to get a lot of us killed someday. I wonder how much the mika's of the country would then be willing to manup, pickup a weapon and stand a watch on the tower to protect his fellow American…..didn't think so……..
Mikatollah, what planet you been livin on? Right wing cowards? You left wing nuts are the cowards. Your buddy Ried told Bush the war was lost!! Remember that? And you leftist whacks protested Bush for the entire 8 years he was fighting terrorists? You and your leftist socialist/communists have the same ideas that the terrorists do!! Even Bin laden agrees with you eco lefties on Global Warming! Next time, make sure you know what your talking about before you open your mouth, that way you dont look like and uneducated fool that you are.
Hey, NOT LIKELY…………………..FDR ( he was a DEM, FYI ) knew how to handle enemy combatants; he tried and had them shot in less than a week .
You should really stop posting, since you missed your nap today and it does appear that you didn't take your meds.
This SOB won't be happy till he gets us all killed. Now thats HOPE & CHANGE for ya.
Just gotta point this out re Guantanomo: Eight years later and despite the rhetoric, Obama still doesn't have a good alternative. Let's give the Bush administration some credit for getting things right the first time (and in the heat of battle, no less).
Is it just me or does it seem that Obama believes he can somehow use his Muslim faith to convince the terrorists that the US is their bestest friend.
cowards? seems like everything was under control b4 ohbomus took over. now record deaths in afghanastan and daily suicide bombings in iraq( that noone seems to care about!!!!!! bowing and apologizing isn't getting the job done!!!!
What's so hard to understand about "foreign terrorists fall under military jurisdiction?
Reid, yopu may recall, was arrested before the militarty commissions were available. That's no longer the case- so o9ff to Gitmo they go.
WTF is "politically motivated" about that?
Well, I won't blame the attacks on the Obama Administration anymore than I can blame 9=11 on Bush. We can't expect any system to be 100% effective, terrorists who are determined will find a way to strike. They have time.
What we can do is hold the administration accountable for their reactions to attacks, and attempted attacks. We can also hold them accountable for their actions which are aimed at dismantling and disrupting terrorist networks. SO far this administration has done most of the same things the Bush administration has done.
It's mostly the rhetoric they use to appease the left, their actions are not far removed from the actions of the Bush administration.
Giving them civilian show trials with [arguably] pre-determined outcomes is so far their biggest blunder.
There is a difference between "civilized" and "wussified." All great civilizations have understood the need for the judicious application of violence, individually or en masse.
The message which needs to be sent, forcefully, is that jihadis are *lower* than mere criminals and can't expect the gentle treatment we afford to rapists and child molesters. Gitmo is a vital tool in delegitimizing their subhuman existence.
Yup- I'm standing up for skinning Captain Underpants alive and tossing his shrieking carcase into Guantanamo Bay for the sharks.
Is there any lamer sort of attempted argument than the lefties' "cowardice" gambit? The folks that wouldn't, couldn't dare to do anything that might offend the subhumans lest they, you know, try to kill us?
Man up, girly man: Holler your barbaric yawp at the jihadis, a resounding American F**K YOU! to the Caliphate.
That's an assassination, by definition not a terrorist attack, which as an act of random violence based on status.
So we should just let them continue to shoot people and blow up airplanes? That really doesn't sound like a great plan to me.
again, just to put the shoe bomber in full light.
the attack happend right after 9/11 without the tribunal system yet enacted. just to clarify
I have to agree that the U.S. government maxes out the fear mongering about terrorism for political and controlling the sheeple reasons.
The funny thing is most of the people in the Obama administration with regards to defense and security are the same people that were in the Bush administration.
Under Bush, they cared and protected, under Obama (who has maintained and expanded all security measures and "wars"), the administration doesn't protect the nation.
Mikatollah…. LOL…. We Right Wing Cowards want Ted Nugent as Secretary of Homeland Security. We would follow Nugent's strategy, see a terrorist, kill a terrorist. After a while, no more terrorist. See how simple life can be. And this is from a little ol lady with a really big gun. See why the 2nd Amendment works also.
his name is not hussein for nothing……
Brennan is a punk and an asswipe
Coward, us? Why don't you respond to the questions I have asked of you statist?
It is you who are the coward, and you know it to be true.
Ted for sec def and we won't need no damn homeland security sec.
I'm with you Kristine.
Brennan is an embarrassment to the republic.
http://libertyatstake.blogspot.com/
Fort Hood,
Cpt. Underwear,
What was the thrid attack?
Never mind Little Rock, I wasn't skimming so carefully
So if you got a call that the FBI was interrogating a "high-interest" person, would you assume they were Mirandized ?
I didn't even realize I was under indictment. I should check my mail more often.
If we hadn't left Afghanistan to the Taliban while we went to fight a fun war in Iraq with "better targets" we wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves in today. Obama inherited this from righty, but I suspect he will do just fine.
Still with the filthy mouth eh boh? Can't string a sentence together without falling back on the old f-word. Typical.
Of course not. But all they can do is kill us, they can't take our freedom. Only we can do that.
Too simplistic and politically convenient. Obama loves this country just as much as you or I and that should always be the starting point in any discussion about national security policy. Otherwise it is just throwing bricks.
He can't be any worse at homeland security than he is at singing. Let's see what he's got.
My guess is he is all big talk and not a lot behind it.
I cant help but wonder what will happen if Obama succeeds in trying terrorists in American courts. I think it could be potentially far worse than the OJ Simpson trial in turning our court into a circus for the whole world to see.
I also cant help but wonder if its some secretive way to force a whole new dialog and understanding between the west and radical Islam all in a effort for Mid-east peace.
I can see it now….. word for word scrolling across TV's all over the world.
Obama is just a third term of Bush in many ways, and especially national security and foreign policy. The U.S. can no longer afford its empire so economics will finally bring about a change. I obviously disagree with both presidents policy, the Bush/Obama doctrine.
I SO APPRECIATE ALL YOU GUYS AND GALS! BECAUSE OF YOU I REALIZE
I AM NOT ALONE ANY LONGER
THANK YOU
So when is Obama and the Uber-Liberal Congress going to repeal the patriot act instead of bolstering it?
Thanks for admitting that not all of the criticism heaped on the previous administration was warranted. However, it would be hypocritical at best to tell us not to do what your political allies just spent 8 years doing, and much like we were for the past 8 years, you are now in the position of defending those views rather than simply calling all our criticisms unjust and wrong.
There is such a thing as legitimate criticism, and it seems that these days, any criticism leveled at Pres BO's admin is all automatically labeled as illegitimate.
No, no, Barry and Janet absolutely believe in terrorism and terrorists. Just go to your next local tea party and you'll see plenty of them.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh…………..right you are, I had forgotten about that; according to them, you and me and a whole bunch of true blue Americans who love this nation are the for real "terrorists".
There are a lot of people in the asylum. Every one is a certified loony.
Brennan neds to be held to account in every election for these lies that he and Obama are telling. How dare he lecture us. He's living on our taxes and shows such arrogance. I pray Obama and his worthless democrap henchman pay a huge price at the polls in November. Impeachement can't come soon enough.
What's the difference between "politically-motivated criticism" and the plain sort of criticism? If I say "I think it's weird that drones are used to bomb targets in the AfPak region, and those "targets" are not being Mirandized, but are prejudged as guilty and are therefore bombed, while KSM gets a lawyer and Abdulmutallab was Mirandized," is that just criticism, or is it "politically-motivated criticism"?
And if it's "politically motivated" just because the target of criticism thinks that the critic is of another party, that's just a weak excuse to be thin-skinned and marginalize critics who may have valid opinions.
In summary, the progressives/Marxists will attack and attempt to marginalize anyone who questions anything they do. In the face of an enemy, they are cowards that will not fight for our Constitution. In fact, they see the Constitution as standing in the way of their goal of controlling every aspect of our lives. By allowing a terrorist (fruit of kaboom, KSM, etc.) to be treated the same as a common criminal and with the same rights as U.S. citizens does nothing more than embolden them to try to kill us more often.
Not sure what the point of your post is here…. were you responding to me? If so, be a little more specific… do you want to see the Patriot Act repealed… is that your point?
It is my policy not to personally attack other bloggers, however I will make an exception.
Bill Clinton is to blame for 9-11-01, not GWB.
We had none of these Mickey Mouse attacks while Bush was Pres. Do you think it was
PURE DUMB LUCK ? I assure it wasn't. Bushs' sole focus was to see that none of these
types of attacks occurred on HIS WATCH, & he was successful. Give him credit, damn it.
He was demonized into oblivion by the dimocrats, for purely partisan political effect & now
our nation is paying for it. Bush had SERIOUS folks heading up the agencies who were
protecting us from these maniacs. bozo has put political cronies in charge, thus we're
already suffering the effects of their incompetence.
Brennan looks scared $hitle$$ to my eye.
+1000
Don't forget our returning military servicemen, they were on that list too.
That sumbictch needs an attitude adjustment. Sure seems aggressive, for a feller in his position.
Kinda reminds you of his boss, don't he?
x1000
Shriekathon, I like it, giggled out loud at that one.
A catastrophic terrorist attack? That'd be a crisis. BHO & Company hates to waste a good crisis.
Well, the shoe bomber was on President Bush's watch, but that happened before America and Europe had mush up and running in place, to thwart attacks.
President Bush and his administration DID thwart attacks and kept us safe.
Obama has been dismantling and trying to dismantle those things which had kept us safe before and hell yes, the underwear bomber IS his fault!
The rest of your post is, howver spot on and well done.
Oh yes, them too; thanks for adding them to the list!
In light of all we now know since 9/11 and the 'shoe bomber', your post dosen't present a valid point, it dosen't make sense, and it is a thinly veiled attempt at politically motivated criticism in a most twisted way, very illogical. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Hanzo
Hell, I'd like to know of just one!
