Occupy Wall Street Now Promoting the Weather Underground

by Rusty Weiss

Occupy Albany has announced an event in March called, The Weather Underground Meets Occupy Wall Street.  The event will be held March 3rd, and is co-sponsored by The Sanctuary For Independent Media and the Albany Social Justice Center.  It is described as, “A book event and multi-generational dialog to celebrate U.S. political prisoner David Gilbert’s new memoir, “Love and Struggle.”

Gilbert is currently serving time in the Auburn Correctional Facility and is described as “an American radical leftist organizer and activist.”  He was imprisoned for his role in the Brinks Robbery of 1981, a botched effort that led to the murder of four people, including a security guard and two police officers.

Interestingly, Gilbert sounds strikingly similar to the Occupy protesters of today when he describes his actions during the robbery.  In an interview in 1985, he described the scene as such:

It was an attempted expropriation. That means taking money from those who amassed wealth by exploiting the people and using that money to finance the resistance.”

Radicals Leading #OccupyChicago to #OccupyCityHall Under Investigation by FBI for Terror Links

by Rebel Pundit

Today Occupy Chicago protesters stormed City Hall to let Mayor Rahm Emanuel know their displeasure in the recent arrests of the Occupy campers at Grant Park on Michigan Avenue.

They were lead by radical anti-war activists Joe Iosbaker and Andy Thayer, who we have reported on in the past for their ongoing investigations by the FBI. In September of 2010 they were targeted for suspicion of providing material support to Hamas, the F.A.R.C. and other terrorist organizations.

Photo H/T: FoundingBloggers

Here is footage of Thayer last spring addressing a Chicago crowd and calling for “action” like we saw in Egypt.

Thayer and Iosbaker have played a key roll in organizing massive demonstrations in Chicago this coming May for the G-8 and NATO summits. The recent anti-war and Occupy protests have served as a clear rally cry to build momentum and support for these demonstrations next spring. The tandem duo worked their message and demands for G-8 and NATO protest permits into todays Occupy City Hall protest.

I, Tea Party Imam, Declare Jihad on Big Spending!

by Phillip Dennis

Since the modern tea party movement began February 27th, 2009, leftist ideologues in both political parties have tried to halt the movement. Their tactics are as predictable as they are weak. Their weapon? Name-calling.

Why must the supposed elites in the progressive movement resort to such childish methods like name-calling to counter opposing political views? There are only two reasons. Either they are over-educated/under-smart or their political ideology is indefensible. After nearly three years of redistributing income, Stimulus bills, Cash for Clunkers, $1.6 billion annual deficits, and raising the debt ceiling a gargantuan $2 trillion, I submit the answer is obvious.

Tea party members have been called names like astroturf, right-wing extremists, evil mongers, teabaggers (by our own President), liars, baby killers, greedy and, of course, racist. None of these names has resulted in slowing down the movement. Quite the contrary, the silly names from our political opponents illustrate the weakness of their ideological position and embolden the tea party to lengthen our stride. But what is our great sin in the eyes of these elitist liberals by which we are labeled with such vitriol? Exercising our First Amendment rights to peacefully protest and electing political leaders to…horrors!… represent our views!

Every week, American citizens calling for fiscal responsibility are called new names by those who ridiculously support continued trillion dollar deficits and the borrowing/printing of $.44 on each federal dollar spent. Like all loyal foot soldiers, liberals immediately fall in line armed with the latest ad hominem and attack those in the tea party movement.

The current name du jour of the tea party is “terrorist.” No less than the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, referred to American citizens who identify with tea party principles as such. However, Biden’s use of “terrorist” is not to be confused with oft-misunderstood Muslim extremists who explode themselves and kill innocent victims. Those would be, according to leftist elites, freedom fighters. The real terrorists are Americans who disagree with raising our debt limit for the 11th time in recent history from the current $14 trillion to nearly $17 trillion and giving President Obama and his friends a $2 trillion plus spending spree before the election next November. How evil can we teabaggers…oops…terrorists be?

Confessions of a Tea Party Terrorist

by Matt Patterson

Well, apparently I’m a terrorist.  At least according to the definition of a wide number of Congressmen, reporters, television personalities, and even – so it’s reported – the Vice President of the United States himself.

What did I do to earn this appellation?  Insist that the government live within its means and support politicians who believe likewise.  That’s it.

And for this, I am labeled – by officials of the United States government, no less – a terrorist.

Every dictionary I have consulted within the past 24 hours has defined terrorism as the use of “force” or “violence” to achieve political ends.  Nowhere have I seen terrorism defined as “the peaceful negotiation of budgetary issues through lawfully elected representatives.”  But there you go.  Liberals have never met a definition they wouldn’t defile; never met a word they wouldn’t distort to suit their own twisted ends.

Actual terrorism?  Understandable reactions to the racist imperialism of the warmongering West.   Insisting that the government not spend more than it takes in?  Unforgivable criminality.  Welcome to Liberal Land; watch your step coming through that looking glass.

Soros-Funded National Lawyers Guild Selects Violent Revolutionary as Keynote Speaker

by Joel Griffith

The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) featured Bernadine Dohrn as its keynote regional conference speaker APRIL 2.   The NLG is a progressive bar association funded in part by George Soros’ Open Society Institute.  While the NLG claims to be a civil rights organization, its focus lies elsewhere.  In fact, the NLG’s anthem “human rights shall be held more sacred than property interests” only thinly disguises it’s radical leanings.

Bernadine Dohrn is known for her involvement with the Weather Underground.  At one point, the FBI placed her on its list of 10 most wanted.  Her husband, Bill Ayers, was co-founder of this revolutionary group.   In a 2011 interview with the NY Times, Ms. Dohrn’s husband reiterated,  ”I don’t regret setting bombs…I feel we didn’t do enough.”

As a fugitive, Ms. Dohrn remained a leader in the Weather Underground as it continued to plant bombs at government buildings in an effort to mount a communist revolution.  Three people were killed as a result of the organization’s bomb-making activities in 1970.

Bush Defense Department Documents Detail Terrorist Threat Posed by Guantanamo Detainees

by Tom Fitton

So what would happen if Barack Obama were to keep his promise to shut down the military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay and release enemy combatants housed there? According to the Bush administration, these terrorist sympathizers would immediately “set out to kill Americans or other innocent civilians around the world.”

That bleak assessment comes from a batch of documents from the Department of Defense (DOD) recently obtained by Judicial Watch. Overall, they detail the policies of the Bush administration related to the detention of enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay, as well as the significant risks to the general population if the detainees were released.

The records, which we got through the Freedom of Information Act, include a “Summary of Conclusions” for a June 19, 2003, meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) Principals Committee, which included top Bush administration officials, as well as a February 4, 2004, draft presentation entitled “Guantanamo Detainees” that was previously marked “Not for Public Dissemination.”

Here are a few of the highlights:

•The NSC Summary of Conclusions includes a detailed list of Bush administration officials who attended the June 19, 2003, meeting, including: Former National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who chaired the meeting; Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld; Former Attorney General John Ashcroft; Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage; and White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales, among others. The meeting included representatives from the Departments of State, Defense, Treasury, and Justice as well as the Office of Vice President, CIA, White House Counsel, Joint Chiefs of Staff and National Security Council.

Progressives Embrace Convicted Terrorist

by Liberty Chick

This past July, in a formal request it filed with the prosecutors of Maryland state and the city of Baltimore, a left-leaning organization known as Velvet Revolution urged prosecutors to press criminal charges against James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles for what it says was a violation of Maryland’s Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Act. But the letter also went a step further, naming Andrew Breitbart as a conspirator in masterminding the whole operation.

The accusation against Breitbart is of course patently false and baseless. No evidence exists to even suggest such an accusation, because it simply did not happen that way. Then again, this story’s not about Andrew Breitbart. It’s about Velvet Revolution, the source making the claim.

Progressives are also rallying behind Velvet Revolution for another of its most recent campaigns – AmericanCrossRoadsWatch, which, to the delight of familiar folks like Karoli at Crooks and Liars, has offered a $100,000 bounty “for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Karl Rove or any principal of American Crossroads for money laundering, election rigging, or felony campaign finance violations.” It features a WANTED poster:

kimberlin-wanted

Interesting, that the words “felony” and “Wanted” would be used. Again, considering the source.

You see, while Velvet Revolution has inspired quite a flurry of excitement from its progressive partners these days, who seem to be frolicking in their apparent muckraking efforts, their glaring omission and utter hypocrisy is absolutely astonishing. With so much dirt digging going on, one would be very hard pressed to believe that none of Velvet Revolution’s cheerleaders had any idea whatsoever that a convicted violent felon is one of its co-founders. In an environment today when the left has repeatedly falsely accused most opposition of being racist, hateful and violent, how convenient that progressives would fail to acknowledge the hypocrisy of their own implicit support of real violence and law-breaking.

The story behind Velvet Revolution begins with musician-activist turned immigrants’ rights defender turned voting rights activist, Brett Kimberlin, who also runs the “Justice Through Music Project (JTMP).” According to journalist Brad Friedman of the Brad Blog, he and Kimberlin co-founded Velvet Revolution together, a detail Friedman has specifically noted in a number of posts such as this one from 5/31/2007.

America’s Drone War In Yemen: Al-Jazeera’s Take

by Andrew Marcus

This fascinating news segment produced by al-Jazeera (aka Jihad TV) highlights how the US drone war in Yemen has inspired a renewed front in the Jihad against America.

This report is interesting because even as it parrots the Jihad narrative, it provides more in depth background information and perspective on American, Saudi, and Iranian involvement in Yemen than anything we have seen from just about any US “news” outlet.

What a sad comment on the state of US/Western media, that “Jihad TV” is a better source of information pertinent to this aspect of the world war we are engaged in.
