Harvard Biologists: Government Should Force ‘This Car Causes Cancer’ Stickers on Non-Hybrids

by A.R. Ward

Dinesh D’Souza once said of Richard Dawkins’ problematic references to history that, “This is what happens when you let a biology major out of the lab.”

D’Souza was on to something, especially judging from a recent Slate article written by famous Harvard biologist and professor  and Harvard postdoctoral fellow . In it, they explain that America needs “motivation” when it comes to reducing it’s carbon footprint. This article has everything that makes conservatives squirm: love of the Prius, hardcore environmentalism, and longing for absurd government regulation. See for yourself [Caution NSFL - Not Safe For Libertarians]:

Even better than voluntary displays would be laws enforcing disclosure. For example, governments could require energy companies to publish the amount of electricity used by each home and business in a searchable database. Likewise, gasoline use could be calculated if, at yearly inspections, mechanics were required to report the number of miles driven. Cars could be forced to display large stickers indicating average distance traveled, with inefficient cars labeled similarly to cigarettes:“Environmentalist’s warning: This car is highly inefficient. Its emissions contribute to climate change and cause lung cancer and other diseases.” Judging from our laboratory research, such policies would motivate people to reduce their carbon footprint.

Although laws of this kind raise possible privacy issues, the potential gains could be great. In a world where each of us was accountable to everybody else for the environmental damage we cause, there would be strong incentives to reduce the energy we use, the carbon dioxide we emit and the pollution we create. In such a world, we might be able to avert a global tragedy of the commons.

This is, after all, the end of the world we are talking about, so why stop there? Why not go full Scarlet Letter? People with more than 2 kids should have to carry signs with them apologizing for over populating our sensitive planet. People who can’t afford $25,000 hybrids, lets call them the “commons”, need to be branded with a “I Cause Cancer” stamp on their forehead.  And if you don’t recycle, Gaia forbid, you should go straight to jail. Wouldn’t that “motivate people to reduce their carbon footprint”?

She Still Loves Obama. Loves. Loves. LOVES.

by Lawrence Meyers

In her recent essay at Slate, (Elizabeth) Curtis Sittenfield asks, “Am I the last person in America who still adores President Obama”?  She’ll be happy to know that, no, she isn’t.  There are plenty of other people who remain, “unfailingly struck by his intelligence and charisma, by his easygoing humor, and by the magnificence of his megawatt smile”.

Obamahonorarydoctorate

Ms. Sittenfield apparently bottled whatever Obama’s campaign managers put in the water, and she has been sipping it for the past two years, because her essay reads like a 7th grader’s love note to the handsome school principal.  And like most 7th graders, she is uneducated about politics and economics.

Sittenfield illustrates all that is wrong with the least astute of Americans.

They place their faith in politicians, whose first priority is their own survival, not the desires of their constituents.

They place emotion above practicality.

They ignore the most basic economic concepts.

These are the Sittenfield Americans, folks who can’t — or won’t — see beyond Obama’s gleaming surface, where they would find that almost every policy decision made by this Administration….uh….fell short of what was promised.

PHILLY VIDEO IS MORE PROOF: Liberal Smear Merchants ‘Media Matters for America’ Will Slime Anyone Who Takes on ACORN

by Matthew Vadum

Throughout the ACORN undercover sting video saga, no one has been more willing to assassinate the character of ACORN’s opponents than the hired guns at the left-wing group Media Matters for America.

Headed by former journalist and confessed serial liar David Brock, the extremely well-funded Washington, D.C.-based defamation factory has gone out of its way to attack conservative activists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, online news entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart, and this website – the truth be damned.

Agitplakat

It’s worth noting that even the New York Times describes Media Matters as a “highly partisan research organization.”

Media Matters is only interested in generating a body count and won’t let facts get in the way.

Nothing better illustrates the depths to which Media Matters is willing to sink in order to protect its allies and smear its opponents than its outrageously irresponsible commentary on the ACORN undercover video saga.

Remember that ACORN provides the “shock troops” of the left. ACORN gets the vote out. ACORN wins elections. Those Democratic politicians who don’t love ACORN fear it – and for good reason. To the establishment left, ACORN must be defended at all costs.
