Solyndra: How Far Obama and the Democrats Will Go to Protect Liberal Investors

by Jason Bradley

For a party and a man that hold deep reservations towards capitalism, Democrats certainly jump at the chance to ride it – like all those corporate fat cats in their private jets! – when it suits their needs. Ah, but you see the argument isn’t over capitalism. That’s just bread tossed out for the masses. American socialists – those that are in the know, the elites – understand capitalism is the undisputed system of economics. Our infrastructure right down to the laws that govern commerce is capitalistic. There is no changing that. But how and where revenue is generated and then redistributed is where American socialism comes in. Here we are again, though. Socialism is rigid and nearly absolute in its means. This is the point where the road bends. The adaptation that has been on full display by the Obama administration is crony-capitalism, and corporatism. It’s not necessarily Socialism in the strictest terms.

Oil, natural gas, clean coal and nuclear energy exist. The benefits from which are well documented. Even liberals know this. However, through the use of regulations and legislations, Democrats are hell bent on creating an industry out of thin air. A lot depends on that point, too. For example, personal fortunes. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (only to name one. OK Al Gore, too) has invested heavily in green energy. The guarantees on investments are very secure. They come in the form of government subsidies – tax payers’ dollars. As I said, Pelosi is one of many liberal lawmakers who steer legislation to suit their investment needs. Business tycoons like T. Boone Pickens also played his hand in motivating certain legislation. After all, it was Pickens who started the Mesa Power green energy company which dealt exclusively with GE and a company heavily invested in by liberal lawmakers (again Pelosi). That’s a lot of money and connections associated with Democrat law makers and the White House.

ACORN’S Enron-Style Accounting: Playing Musical Chairs with Big Money

by Matthew Vadum

The activities of the radical, corrupt to the core, left-wing Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has tangled itself up in an infinitely complex web of deceit, thuggery, and questionable financial dealings, are long overdue for a RICO probe.

Recent well-publicized events that I need not recount here show ACORN’s criminal propensities. In a moment I’ll explain how ACORN’s financial affairs ought to raise a red flag for investigators at the U.S. Department of Justice, but first some background.

ACORN_ENRON

The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, which was created to prosecute organized crime, allows the federal government to go after individuals who commit any two RICO-related crimes over a decade. The law allows courts to convict persons if it can be shown that they committed those crimes as part of an illegal enterprise and can order disgorgement of their ill-gotten gains from the enterprise.

RICO is the right tool for the job.

Perhaps it’s the only tool for the job because the ACORN network is deliberately structured to deter scrutiny. Its nebulous legal status and opaque corporate structure allow it to keep its activities largely hidden from public view.

ACORN = RICO

by Ken Blackwell and Ken Klukowski

Now that a third ACORN video has surfaced, a pattern emerges of ACORN workers willing to help people engage in prostitution, tax fraud, housing fraud, and even human trafficking. Under federal law, a RICO investigation is now warranted. Three strikes and you’re out, ACORN.

Videos show ACORN employees offering to help two undercover reporters/filmmakers posing as a prostitute and pimp in falsifying tax returns and getting a federal loan to buy a house that they could use as a brothel for underage prostitutes smuggled in from El Salvador.

When the first video emerged from such a meeting in ACORN’s Baltimore office on Thursday, ACORN fired the two workers involved. When another video surfaced on Friday, this one from ACORN’s D.C. office, the two workers involved there were fired as well, and ACORN said that these two reporters had tried and failed to carry out this sting in other offices.

One such office where ACORN said these reporters tried and failed was New York City. Yet Monday, a third video surfaced from Brooklyn in New York City. Once again, the ACORN employees on the video advise the undercover duo on how to violate federal law by filing a false income tax return to qualify for a federal housing loan.

As one worker says on the video, “honesty is not going to get you the house.” Well, not if you’re engaged in a host of felonies. (more…)

Krauthammer: ACORN Has Tainted Obama

by Publius

TRANSCRIPT–Guest-host Guy Benson discussed ACORN with Charles Krauthammer on Friday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show”:

krauthammer
Guy Benson: Charles, I want to quickly shift, as we have just a little over a minute left here, to the home front, and a domestic story that is breaking within the last few minutes, which is the Census Bureau citing the brewing and growing scandal at ACORN, they have cut ties with ACORN entirely when it comes to the 2010 Census. Your reaction?

Charles Krauthammer:
ACORN has all of the appearance of a criminal racket. This is graphic appearance, incredibly strong evidence, but it’s at the end of a long list of evidence going back years and years. I’m glad that the Census is cutting its ties. What I’m worried about is that the Stimulus package had millions of dollars, and there are loopholes in there which would allow it to end up in the hands of ACORN, and that’s what people ought to be looking at right now.

GB: Yes.

CK: That’s where our investigative journalism ought to be headed. Are they now going to be getting our tax money in large doses to continue their, what appear to be racketeering operations? (more…)
