Memo to #OccupyWallStreet: You Are Not the 99 Percent. You Are the Anti-War Left, Co-Opted by Obama

by Joel B. Pollak

My fellow Americans–and, I suppose, Canadians:

I regret to inform you that you are not the “99 Percent.”

The 99 Percent dislikes big banks, but also dislikes big government–and big messes.

The 99 Percent does not occupy property it does not own, public or private.

The 99 Percent does not steal from local businesses, does not attack police officers, does not storm national museums, and does not defecate in public.

Flyer at #OccupyWallStreet - the address for donations is a small building in Washington, DC shared by Code Pink and other "progressive" organizations

The 99 Percent does not rank people’s views based on their skin color, gender, or socioeconomic status.

Obama’s New ‘Truth Minister’ Husband of ‘General Betrayus’ MoveOn.Orger

by Warner Todd Huston

This week President Obama revealed his latest attempt to control the media, the Internet, and the information revealed to the people of the United States by creating a new “press” office of sorts, an Obama ministry of truth, if you will. Obama’s grandiose name for this new office is the Progressive Media & Online Response department. Also named was its new director, Jesse Lee. Lee, it turns out, has an interesting connection to one of the most outrageous anti-American, anti-military media efforts in recent memory.

Jesse Lee, you see, is married to Nita Chaudhary, one of the people responsible for the 2007 MoveOn.org newspaper ad that maligned General David Petraeus as “General Betray Us.”

That’s right, the guy that President Obama has chosen to “correct” the Internet and media and to relay the president’s “truth” is connected to one of the most anti-American, anti-military, left-wing activist groups in America. Lee and his wife are typical, hardcore, leftist extremists yet now they are in the People’s House with Lee responsible to “correct” the people themselves when they dare to question The One.

As David Steinberg notes, “Lee’s relationship with Chaudhary was not a negative for his White House career.” On the contrary, the man married to the woman that helped head an attack on the very general Obama himself has given greater duties has found her baleful influence to have either helped him reach a position inside the White House, or at the very least been a non-factor.

Is Media Matters Uninformed About Pigford Coverage Or Just Lying?

by Lee Stranahan

Eric Boehlert from Media Matters  somehow manages to combine factually inaccuracy with a double fact twist in his latest attack on black farmers. Boehlert’s piece is a riff from the article I wrote this morning about the lack of a conservative equivalent of Media Matters or MoveOn.

My piece wasn’t a complaint about the general lack of coverage on Pigford but Boehlert chooses to twist it that way – so let’s address that accusation. Boehlert says….

I’m hard-pressed to think of another instance in which a media entity like Breitbart’s has invested so much time and energy promoting a single story (his sites have posted more than 100 Pigford-related items in the last year), yet only to see the story receive virtually no pick-up. Anywhere.

No pickup… Not Hot Air. Not Red State. Not Atlas Shrugs. Not Moonbattery. Not a 4000 word piece in National Review. Not Stossel’s segment on Fox News. Not a Fox News segment. (Last one came before Breitbart was on the story.)

So that’s the factual issue. It has gotten pickup, due to our efforts. Has Pigford gotten as much as I’d like? No and I’ve written about that – although the coverage DID pick up after I asked if the right-wing blogosphere was afraid of Pigford. Boehlert tries to make hay from the fact that O’Reilly, Beck, Hannity or Van Sustern have not run with it yet but as we pointed out countless times this is not a soundbite story. It’s not ready made-for-TV. I believe the documentary will have some impact on this. I should also point out that the stories been covered a number of times on radio, and that’s a better format for it.

It’s also important for the Pigford coverage in context. This is a story that is over a decade old.

AUDIO: MoveOn Coordinator Caught On Tape At Union Rally: Tea Party Driven By Racism

by MRC TV

This past Saturday in Baton Rouge, La. a MoveOn union rally was thrown together to protest Gov. Scott Walkers union legislation in Wisconsin. After the rally was held, a MoveOn coordinator was caught on tape saying the Tea Party is fueled by “class envy” and “racism.”

The following is a partial transcript. We’ll call the person who wished to remain anonymous ‘Condor‘ for transcript reasons:

MoveOn: My opinion is that, first of all, Tea Partiers tend to be in a wealthier category so even if you don’t currently benefit from it, people don’t want to tax millionaires because everyone believes, kinda, in their heart of hearts that ‘I’m gonna be a millionaire one day’, you know? So there’s kinda that class envy that fuels it and also I personally believe, especially in Louisiana, for a lot of citizens it’s racism.

Condor: Not all over the United States?

MoveOn: I can’t speak for all over the United States but I tend to think that as well, but certainly here in Louisiana. When people think of the ones who are abusing these social programs they want to cut, I mean they think of a black, unwed mother. You know what? I get really mad because I make minimum wage. So part of it is racism, part of it is the fact that they want to cut programs that aren’t benefiting them because they think the people that are on it are lazy, are slackers, you know, that’s

Condor: Kinda like the slave mentality?

MoveOn: Well, the welfare moms of the 80′s and 90′s they used to talk about. You know, the woman she sits at home and eats bon-bons and watches soap operas all day and keeps having children so that she can get more government benefits. Well that person doesn’t exist, but it’s a good stereotype to get people mad to cut these social programs.

What We Saw at the MoveOn.org D.C. Union Protest: Medea Benjamin, Van Jones, a Kid Holding a ‘Don’t Teabag Me Bro’ Sign…

by MRC TV

On Saturday Feb. 26, a protest rally was thrown together by MoveOn.org and the SEIU at Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C.

It just so happened that Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin and Barack Obama’s former green jobs czar and self-admitted communist Van Jones stopped by to show their support for the 14 Wisconsin State Senators who fled as well as the unions and teachers taking fake sick notes from doctors to stay out and protest.

At one point, Van Jones claims that the Tea Party turned off the television after the word ‘liberty’ and missed the ‘and justice for all’ part. These people can never get a sentence out without mentioning the Tea Party. Perhaps maybe, just maybe, they’re actually frightened of the Tea Party and the power they posses. Not only that, Tea Party rallies are actually attended by people. Jealousy may also play a factor.

Also, here’s a fantastic sample of that new tone Democrats have been calling for. I personally have no idea why abortion was an issue at a union rally. Then again, out of about the 500 people there it seemed as if they were protesting 128 different things.

Yes, that sign actually reads “Keep your laws off my body, and I’ll keep my hands off your throat.” How nice. Civility at it’s finest.

The Inside Story on Net Neutrality and the FCC

by Capitol Confidential

The FCC is trying to walk a careful line on net neutrality, according to Democratic and Republican sources in Congress and the FCC.

julius-fcc-tbijpg

Earlier this year, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski proposed regulations giving his agency wide authority over broadband services, including the right to set limits on new services and innovation.

Lately, however, Genachowski seems on a more cautious approach, distancing himself from the more fanatical regulations. Word coming from the FCC is that Genachowski decided that he couldn’t satisfy the net neutrality fanatics and still have good policy. So if he couldn’t get both, he decided, he should focus on good policy.

Naturally, the Professional Left is outraged but at this point, most policymakers recognize that as a political pressure game and they are increasingly disregarding it. In fact, Genachowski is even getting a great deal of credit – especially within Congress – for having the courage to withstand the political pressure from Free Press and Moveon.org.

Copenhagen Is The ‘Social Justice’ Moment

by Andrew Marcus

Did you know the environmental movement is not just about being a good steward of your environment so that you may, to the best of your ability, pass on an inhabitable planet to future generations? Nope.

It turns out that’s just the sweet sugary frosting on top of the social justice pie.

For a glimpse into the social(ist) justice ideology motivating the Progressive Global Warming Climate Change movement, take a look at the video below, produced by a community organization called smartMeme.

The video promotes turning Copenhagen into a moment for “ecological justice.” Some highlights include:
