Will the Occupy Movement Deliberately Turn Violent?

by Aaron Klein

With the Occupy movement becoming increasingly confrontational nationwide, there are indications that the anti-capitalist movement is turning violent deliberately.  The adroit agitators intermixed among the idealistic but misguided young people, the street radicals bent above all on attacking the U.S. economic system, see violent revolution as a key route to the transformation of our country into their version of the socialist utopia.

A look at the organizers of the most recent pre-planned Day of Action spotlights a large, radical group, a latter-day Red Army of seasoned activists who have been discreetly guiding Occupy since the movement’s onset and whose history is colored with previous mayhem while their plans for the immediate future raise serious questions. Just yesterday, the Occupy movement posted online plans for “alternative forms of protest,” including flash mobs that can be deployed nationwide.

Just over a week ago, Occupy Wall Street held a three-day “Direct Action Preparation and Training” course in downtown Manhattan to gear up for the latest round of riots, including last Thursday’s three-course meal of in-your-face tactics aiming to block subways and bridges as well as shut down the stock market.

Revealingly, official resources provided on the Occupy site as part of the planning for last week’s chaos shows several manuals from the Ruckus Society, whose mission is to provide “environmental, human rights, and social justice organizers with the tools, training, and support needed to achieve their goals”; this includes training radical activists in direct action techniques.

The same Ruckus Society that helped to spark the 1999 World Trade Organization protests in Seattle, which devolved into violent unrest, was listed as a “friend and partner” for last week’s Day of Action.

The Ruckus training manuals provided at the Occupy site leave little to the imagination. Titles include: “Blockading for Beginners,” “Anonymous Riot Guide,” “Define White Supremacy,” “Uncle Sam the Pusher Man” and, of course, the (still!) Communist Party-connected National Lawyers Guild’s “Legal Observer Manual.”

#OccupyWallSt: When the Greedy Feign Outrage

by Frank Salvato

“Greedy: Excessively or inordinately desirous of wealth, profit, etc.; avaricious.”
Dictionary.com

By now, no doubt, you have heard about the “incredible” Occupy Wall Street Movement taking place on and around Wall Street; a movement whose organizers claim is “organic” and spreading across the globe, not unlike the so-called “Arab Spring.” There are a few problems with this claim, however. First, the movement is anything but “organic.” And second, for the most part, the “Arab Spring” has facilitated the rise of radical Islamist factions to the courts of power. Incredible indeed.

The “movement” is incredible for many reasons; incredible in that what we are being asked to believe the impossible or very difficult to believe, via the reporting in the mainstream media and declarations issued from the movement’s organizers. Interviews with a credible sampling of those in attendance prove that many participants don’t even know why they are there but for it being “the place to be” for the terminally and youthfully disgruntled.

But a closer examination of who is in attendance, who is stepping up to the proverbial microphone and what “the movement” is issuing as a set of “demands,” makes the studied eye suspicious that this may, in fact, be the mother of all political “astroturfing” initiatives, just in time to demonize the job creators as “greedy” in the run up to an election where the incumbent – Barack Obama – hasn’t an accomplishment to run on.

Perhaps the biggest “red flag” (no pun intended) came in the form of statements made by left-wing Progressive agitator, self-avowed Communist and former Obama Administration official Van Jones. Jones is currently the lead rabble-rouser of the “American Dream Movement,” a radically left-wing political activist organization run by the Progressive group MoveOn.org Civic Action, in partnership with a number of other Leftist and Liberal groups ranging from the Hip Hop Caucus to Planned Parenthood.

And, So It Begins: Unions & Professional Left To Join #OccupyWallSt Protesters

by LaborUnionReport

On Saturday, September 17, Marxist protesters (NeoComs) planned to take over Wall Street. While they had wanted to have some 20,000 protesters come to New York, converge on and stay for months in order to ‘tear down the machine,’ their numbers were far fewer, and their goal of occupying Wall St. never materialized as police relegated them to Zuccotti Park a block away.

In talking to several on the first day of their protest, their inspiration seemed to be a Marxist blend of  Communism and Anarchism, sprinkled with a tinge of comic-book (or Hollywood) flare from the character ‘V’ from ‘V for Vendetta.’ By Day Three, however, they made their demands more clear, calling for the seizure of workplaces and schools, as well as the ‘de-privatization of everything.’

Over the last two weeks, their numbers have dwindled to just a few hundred and there have been well over a hundred arrests. The protesters have been ordered to remove their Guy Fawkes masks and, for the most part, have set up a campground in downtown Manhattan, with take out food called in for them from around the nation.

While they’ve had visits from such Left-wing luminaries as Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Roseanne Barr, and Dr. Cornell West, they have not had as much coverage from the mainstream media nor have they had the support of the real jackboots in the fight for a Marxist revolution—today’s union bosses.

That is, they haven’t had union support until now. (more…)

Richard Cordray: A ‘Consumer Czar’ for Trial Lawyers

by Capitol Confidential

It should come as no surprise that the radical left is rallying behind former Ohio Attorney general Richard Cordray to head to powerful Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) – a newly created government agency designed to regulate the American economy with little oversight from Congress.

MoveOn.org and other liberal groups are demanding Republicans play dead and allow Cordray to be confirmed by the Senate for a five year term where he can singlehandedly dictate regulations government nearly any financial transaction in America.

Quietly another interest group is rallying to Cordray’s corner – the securities lawyers.  Daniel Fisher, writing at Forbes.com noticed that despite the constant bashing of the financial industry by Cordray, he is wildly popular with securities class action lawyers and law firms:

Lawyers at Labaton Sucharow contributed $125,000 to various Cordray campaigns between 2008 and 2010, according to Ohio campaign-finance records. Delaware-based Labaton represented Ohio in the AIG case, which it settled last year for $1 billion including something like $90 million in fees (the final fee payout, surprisingly, isn’t on the AG’s website).

Lawyers at crosstown Delaware rivals Grant & Eisenhofer ponied up $25,000 for the Cordray campaign; they represented the state in a lawsuit against Marsh & McClennan that netted the state’s outside lawyers 13% on a $400 million settlement. Other out-of-state law firms that took a keen interest in Cordray’s campaign included Atlanta’s Chitwood Harley, which gave $146,000; Berman deValerio of San Francisco and New York’s Bernstein Litowitz, known for its generosity in seemingly obscure state political races, which gave $50,000.

That’s because Cordray has a scandalous record of “taking money from lawyers who profit from private litigation that often follows closely on the heels of government investigations…” So, the reality is that President Obama’s liberal white-hatted regulator appears to be neck deep in a pay to play scandal with trial lawyers.

Republicans appear ready to hold the line on the nomination with 44 Senators signing a letter refusing to support any nominee until the CFPB is reformed and proper checks and balances are put into place.  But there is a bigger story and a bigger scandal brewing.

Can We Protect Our Elections From ACORN?

by Tom Fitton

With little more than a year before the 2012 elections, the press has started to sharpen its focus on the candidates. Judicial Watch, meanwhile, is deeply concerned about the integrity of the electoral process — especially given the rampant voter registration fraud caused by the “community organization” ACORN and its partner in crime Project Vote in the last several election cycles. (Do not believe the rumors that ACORN is defunct. As I’ve said before, the organization has splintered into organizations across the country and they are prepared to wreak havoc in 2012. Project Vote is going strong, and hasn’t changed its stripes.)

Last Tuesday, I moderated a Judicial Watch educational panel entitled “The Voter Fraud Threat to Free and Fair Elections” at Judicial Watch’s headquarters here in Washington, DC.

My guests were: John Fund, a senior editor of The American Spectator and author of Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy and the upcoming The Threat of Voter Fraud to Free and Fair Elections; Christian Adams, former Department of Justice Attorney in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division; and Catherine Engelbrecht, Founder of both King Street Patriots and True the Vote.

It was about as good a panel as we’ve ever hosted, and viewing it will educate, worry and motivate you. You can click here to watch a video of the panel, which was also streamed live over the Internet. We will have a written transcript on our website very soon.

Following our educational panel, on Thursday we released documents obtained from the Colorado Department of State showing that ACORN and its affiliate, Project Vote, successfully pressured Colorado officials into implementing new policies for increasing the registration of public assistance recipients during the 2008 and 2010 election seasons. And, as you might expect, following the policy changes the percentage of invalid voter registration forms from Colorado public assistance agencies was four times the national average!

See what I mean by chaos and havoc?

Obama’s Prime-Time Address: A Dog Whistle to the Astroturf

by Joel B. Pollak

Tonight, President Barack Obama made good on his threat to Eric Cantor to take his case “to the American people.”

The people he’s counting on most, however, are not the general public, but the small core of left-wing activists planning nationwide protests at congressional offices tomorrow.

Former “green jobs” czar Van Jones let the proverbial cat out of the bag today in a column at the Huffington Post entitled: “Tuesday: Rallies Everywhere to Save the American Dream“:

Enough is enough.
Speaker Boehner’s decision last week to walk out in the middle of negotiations with President Obama was the last straw.
The time has come — at long last — for America’s super-majority to stand up against the extreme, hostage-taking tactics of the Tea Party minority in Congress.
Tea Party Republicans would rather shred America’s safety net and also risk tanking America’s economy than raise taxes one penny on their super-wealthy donors and corporate backers.
This Tuesday at noon, everyday Americans will finally have the chance to be heard, across America, at the local offices of every member of Congress. The American Dream movement — which includes dozens of organizations and thousands of individuals who are standing up for the middle class and working class families — is calling for emergency mobilizations across the country tomorrow.
Likewise, Moveon.org has sent emails to its members, asking them to demonstrate outside Republican congressional offices tomorrow:
Our only chance to move the Republicans is to make sure that the dire consequences of their actions are laid directly at their feet. So with other leaders of the American Dream movement, we’re putting out an urgent call for every patriotic American to show up outside Republican congressional offices on Tuesday at noon to deliver a crucial message: “Don’t destroy the American Dream.”
Then, in his speech to the nation tonight, Obama called upon Americans to tell their members of Congress to compromise–clearly referring to Republican members of Congress alone:

Netroots, National Liberal Orgs, Focus on Wisconsin Recalls

by Brett Healy

My home state continues to garner a lot of national attention, at least from the Left. Those gathered in Minnesota for Netroots Nation had Wisconsin on their collective minds. Pun intended.

MacIver News Service | June 22, 2011

[Hudson, Wisconsin] As we head into the heart of the summer months, national liberal organizations are focusing their political efforts on the Wisconsin state senate recalls.

At the recent Netroots Nation annual conference, held in neighboring Minnesota, leaders from several national organizations discussed their coordinated efforts to elect a Democratic state senate in Wisconsin.

What’s Wrong With Robert Reich

by Lawrence Meyers

Anytime I see a video show up on Facebook three times, there’s a pretty good chance I better write an article about it because more often than not they contain a lot of misinformation or oversimplification. In the case of the Robert Reich video, “What’s Wrong With The Economy”, it contains both.  This should not come as a surprise.  He makes a big deal about explaining how simple it all is and doing it in two and quarter minutes.

Folks, the economy cannot be explained in two and a quarter minutes.

However, the good people at the George-Soros funded MoveOn.Org, which commissioned the video, sure would like you to believe it can.  They specialize in spoon-feeding pabulum to Liberals who don’t know what they don’t know, all the better to keep them ignorant.  If you think George Soros and MoveOn don’t have an agenda, then you’ve been living under a rock.

This is not to say that Mr. Reich is 100% wrong.  He may have a few things right.  The problem is he oversimplifies things and deliberately misleads his audience.  (How do I know it’s deliberate?  It’s for MoveOn.org).  The key is to examine each statement made — but not only the text.  You must look at the subtext, context, and omissions to get a complete understanding.

Angry Mob Protests Paul Ryan, MoveOn.org Questioned Over Racist Comments

by Rebel Pundit

On May 16th, 2011 we attended a MoveOn.org protest staged in Chicago outside a Paul Ryan luncheon. The protesters were unfriendly and hostile to our questions, as well as confused about their message. We also questioned MoveOn members and organizers about their opinion regarding racially offensive comments made by former progressive radio talk show host and radically liberal blogger Greg Morelli.

Morelli is known for consistently spewing violent and hateful rhetoric on his blog, Family Values with an Oy Vey. We were particularly interested to find out if MoveOn.org has any issue with his racially charged comments about President Obama, since they invited him to speak at their “Defending the Dream” rally in March. In a blog post titled “Harry Reid is My Nigga!” Morelli refers to President Obama as the “Negro-in-Chief.” He also claims former RNC Chairman Michael Steele and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas are only black on the outside. MoveOn was silent in response to the questions.

Morelli: “Health Care will soon pass in America thanks in large part to the Top Cracker in the senate, the Top Bitch in the house and a signature from the Negro-In-Chief.”

“Michael Steel is black in the same way Clarence Thomas is black: on the outside only.”

VIDEO: What We Saw at the MoveOn.org ‘We Are One’ DC Rally

by MRC TV

Yesterday, we at the Media Research Center went to the MoveOn.org “We Are One” union rally in Washington, D.C. held outside of the Treasury building to ask the people why they were there protesting.

All of the groups taking part of the rally included: the AFL-CIO, American Federation of Teachers, CommonCause, Communication Workers of America, Greenpeace, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, MoveOn, NAACP, National Education Association, SEIU, United Food and Commercial Workers, and USAction.

Given it was blatantly obvious beforehand they were rallying against the Koch brothers despite marketing it as standing up for MLK’s dream, I figured I’d ask them what that exactly was all about. Many people literally could not answer, some refused to answer, and some essentially repeated talking points liberal websites churn out- which shall remain nameless. Including Medea Benjamin of Code Pink.

Organized Left Plan Massive Protests for April 4th

by Brett Healy

In the wake of changes to government employee unions’ power in Wisconsin and elsewhere, The Communist Party USA is working in conjunction with national labor unions and other left wing political groups to organize protests in Madison, Wisconsin and across the nation on April 4th.

Scott Marshall, Vice Chair of The Communist Party USA said his organization is working with the likes of MoveOn.org, the SEIU, the AFL-CIO and others to make April 4th, the anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., a national day of action.

“Support is beginning to grow,” said Marshall in an online meeting earlier this month. “A bunch of organizations already are hyping the idea of massive demonstrations on April 4th.”

The Community Party in particular has benefited from the recent debate over Wisconsin government employee unions’ power to collectively bargain, using the opportunity to build their ranks.

“In this struggle, the question of building the Left and building the Party has to come to the fore,” Marshall said. “Recruiting has picked up, more people are joining the Party and the broader left is getting bigger.”

The Communist Party USA leader said his members cannot just participate alongside other organizations, however. They must continue to join and help lead them.

Disgruntled Radio Host: ‘Scott Walker’s An A**hole’

by Liberty Chick

From the same MoveOn.org rally that brought us video of the now infamous foaming liberal, who proudly “declared war on righties, Teabaggers and Republicans” over at the always sunshine and roses hotspot known as Daily Kos, we bring you yet another performance from an angry liberal.

Just moments after Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) gave a rousing speech at MoveOn.org’s “Solidarity With Wisconsin” rally, urging Americans to preach our principles and values across the country and around the world, this self-professed “Left of Lesbian” progressive took to the microphone to follow the Senator with this his own display of values:

“It’s time for Barack Obama to do what he did in Tucson – show up.”

“If you want to know the difference between Egypt and Madison:   Mubarak is a Tyrant.  Scott Walker’s an Asshole”

(I’m thinkin’ Hyde Park Johnny over at the Daily Kos may want to update his post.  He thought there were “no tea partiers in sight.”)

If this man looks and sounds familiar to you, he should.  This clip of him on Mediaite made the rounds on the day of the Tucson, AZ shooting, when he used an impromptu vigil as an opportunity to push Sarah Palin into the fray, as did so many others on the left that day.

Union Member Attacks, Injures Tea Party Activist at MoveOn.org-organized Rally

by Chuck DeVore

Sacramento’s ABC News 10 reported on the union rally and Tea Party counter rally in Sacramento today.  ABC’s online report makes cursory mention of an incident of union violence directed at Tea Party activist Rodney Stanhope: “Police cited one man for battery after he allegedly shoved a tea party supporter.”

I spoke to Stanhope, as he drove to the hospital for x-rays and treatment for the injuries sustained at the rally, and asked him what happened.  Mr. Stanhope said that he was with a group of about 150 Tea Party activists across the street from the MoveOn.org-organized union rally.  A union man with a bullhorn, Richard Andazola, 28, was yelling across the street at the Tea Party activists, calling them “fascists.”

Then one of the Tea Party activists, also bullhorn equipped, replied, “We pay your salary!”

This enraged Andazola, who, according to Stanhope, rushed the Tea Partiers, chanting “Fascists go home! Fascists go home!”  He violently shoved Stanhope twice, the second time apparently striking Stanhope in the throat:

Somehow in the melee, Stanhope’s hand was also injured

The union thug was later cited by law enforcement:

Dems Need to Look to Their Own Ranks for ‘Elevated Rhetoric’

by Robert Laurie

Saturday morning, a hail of bullets took the lives of five Americans, including a federal judge and a nine year old girl.  19 others were injured, including Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.  For most, Saturday was a day of tragedy – a day of reflection.  Well, Saturday morning, at any rate.  By Saturday afternoon, the left-wing brain trust had shifted into high gear.  By Sunday, every tired, worn out, leftist mouthpiece, from Jane Fonda to MoveOn.org, had shuffled down from their lofty intellectual perches, determined to educate the masses.  Their hypothesis was obvious to anyone smart enough to comprehend it.   Clearly, the Arizona bloodbath was the end result of two years dominated by conservative vitriol, hatred, and “elevated rhetoric.”

It’s an assertion that left wing luminaries have made before, most memorably when New York City Mayor Bloomberg told Katie Couric that the Times Square bomber was probably a white male Tea Partier, likely disenchanted with Obamacare.  He was later forced to eat those words when the would-be terrorist turned out to be a Muslim extremist.  Still, he had exposed a truth: the left has been desperate for a situation that will allow them to hang a crazed killer around the neck of the Tea Party.   With Arizona gunman Jared Loughner, they seem to feel that their ship has finally come in.

In order to make Loughner work as their right-wing poster child, all they have to do is deny reality and ignore their own history.

First of all, the idea of Loughner as the consummate tea-partier is laughable.  The left has always described the Tea Party movement as a collection of under-educated, flag-waving weirdos who ineptly fetishize freedom, American exceptionalism, and the Constitution.  A quick look at the killer’s MySpace and YouTube pages reveals an image of a barely coherent madman, fascinated by flag burning, Mein Kampf, and the Communist Manifesto.  His classmates have described him as “anti-flag” and a “Left-wing Pothead.”  In fact, he was arrested in 2008 on misdemeanor drug charges. Somehow, because he made some vague, rambling statement about the gold standard, we’re supposed to ignore his previous arrest, turn a blind eye to the flag burning, forget about his love of fascist and communist literature, and accept the Loughner-as-conservative fallacy?

Well, yes, apparently we are.  If we don’t, the left will have trouble moving on to the next phase of their plan: controlling political speech in the media.

Former SEIU Exec Joins Center for American Progress Action Fund

by Liberty Chick

The woman known as the “Queen of Labor” is living up to her promise to focus on “building a sustaining progressive infrastructure.”  Anna Burger, former SEIU Secretary-Treasurer, has just joined the board of directors at the Center for American Progress Action Fund (CAP Action).

CAP Action is a sister organization to the liberal think tank, Center for American Progress.  While the Center for American Progress focuses on developing new policy ideas and on “critiquing the policy that stems from conservative values,”  CAP Action focuses on how to put those policies into action – by organizing liberal grassroots groups, labor unions and other progressive partners as advocates.

John Podesta, Chairman of the Board of Directors for CAP Action, offered the following statement in the organization’s December 9th press release:

“The Center for American Progress Action Fund is pleased to welcome Anna Burger to our Board of Directors. She has been a longtime friend of the Center for American Progress and CAP Action and we’re very happy that she has agreed to help us advance our mission by serving in this new capacity.

Anna Burger has been fighting hard for progressive ideas and policies for nearly 40 years, including the visionary leadership she has provided for the progressive movement over the past decade. We face numerous opportunities and many challenges over the next two years and look forward to Anna’s help in charting our course. As we continue to push for an economy built on a strong middle class that works for all Americans, Anna’s continued leadership and experience could not come at a more important time.”

In addition to her previous post at SEIU, Burger has held many prominent positions that have played significant roles in advancing the progressive movement, including:

MoveOn.org Goon Chokes Jesse Kelly Supporter (Video)

by Jim Hoft

If You Can’t Beat Them, Choke Them–

This MoveOn.org goon had heard enough.

Don’t expect this to make it on the front page:

Jesse Kelly supporter James Massee was exercising his 1st Amendment rights when a Gabrielle Giffords supporter came up and choked him.

Publius Pundit reported:

At the first debate at the University of Arizona between Democrat Gabrielle Giffords and Republican Jesse Kelly, a fictitious group called Republicorp showed up trying to convince people that the Republican Party is bought off by Wall St (despite the FACT that most contributions from Wall St went to Obama).

Well, it appears that these may be the Chicago goons we were looking for. Since they cannot tolerate any dissent, one of the “Republicorp” liberal activists tried to shut up a Jesse Kelly supporter who was telling the crowd about Gabrielle Giffords’ record of voting with Nancy Pelosi… By choking him.

Here’s the video:

Unrepentant Domestic Terrorist Behind Anti-Chamber of Commerce Internet Campaign

by Larry O'Connor

Has the White House been influenced by a convicted domestic terrorist for its attack on the Chamber of Commerce?

commerce-climate-bill-kill

The latest assault on the Chamber has been spear-headed by none other than the President himself and picked up by David Axelrod, MoveOn.org and all the usual Astro-Turfers who receive marching orders from the DNC.  It’s become part of the standard talking points for cable-news pundits and their well-programmed guests and has been the new rallying cry for the left as they try their best to explain the imminent electoral disaster that looms on November 2nd.

But one group was well ahead of the curve on this movement to stop the Chamber of Commerce.  In fact, they even own the URL “StopTheChamber.com”.  That group is the infamous Velvet Revolution headed by convicted violent criminal and bomber, Brett Kimberlin.  In her extensive and detailed article on Kimberlin and his past violent crimes, Liberty Chick noted that left-wing blogs and main stream media organs routinely site Kimberlin and his partner, Brad Friedman as legitimate sources and as normative “watch-dogs” over-seeing right-wing election shenanigans.  The problem is, Kimberlin is a convicted domestic terrorist who has been described as a habitual liar by those who have looked into his past.

And yet, the mainstream Democrats clinging to any strategy to stop the bleeding over the next two weeks are latching on to the Stop the Chamber narrative that was first hatched at Kimberlin’s Velvet Revolution site last year.

MoveOn.org Moves Into Panic Mode

by Kyle Olson

It’s pure panic time in Democratic circles as the 40-year reign James Carville predicted seems to ending a few decades early.

MoveOn.org, a long-time Progressive powerhouse in DC and around the country, is running around with its hair on fire and preparing for a bad November.

fire-and-ice-0

And the group is currently trying to figure out what friends to save and which ones to toss overboard.  A September 4 e-mail to members said:

In this election we’ll focus on a handful of progressive heroes facing tough races, where we can make a real difference together. Which progressive heroes would you nominate to be our top priorities this fall?

It can be a long-time member of Congress or someone running for the House or Senate for the first time. He or she should be a proven progressive fighter, especially in standing up to corporate influence in Washington. And since we have limited resources, please nominate folks who are in truly close races where MoveOn members could swing the balance.

A few days later, MoveOn issued this e-mail:

Election Day is less than two months away, and we need to decide today whether we’ll have enough resources for a major campaign to help stop the Republicans and their corporate allies from taking over Congress.

In a survey over the weekend, 92% of MoveOn members said that we should work broadly to help Democratic candidates—especially now that corporate front groups are spending $400 million to boost Republicans’ chances.

But MoveOn went into full panic mode the next day, attempting to instill fear in its Big Government-loving members:

Barbara Boxer: Serving in Uniform Just Like Being a Politician

by Paul Chabot

During a campaign stop in Inglewood, California this past weekend, Barbara Boxer’s disrespectful attitude toward our armed forces was on full display when she equated the experiences of Members of Congress with the experiences of those who have put their lives on the line serving our country in uniform.

barbara-boxer

Boxer said this, at an event during which she was supposed to help break ground on new housing for homeless veterans:

“We know that if you have veterans in one place where they can befriend each other and talk to each other. You know when you’ve gone through similar things you need to share it. I don’t care whether you are a policeman or a fireman or a veteran or by chance a member of Congress. Maxine and I could look at each other and roll our eyes. We know what we are up against. And it is hard for people who are not there to understand the pressure and the great things that go along with it and the tough things that go along with it.”

She followed this up by appearing later in the day at a campaign fundraiser featuring none other than “Hanoi Jane” Fonda.

Barbara Boxer has never been loved by the military, veterans, their friends or family.  She has a history of voting against troop funding and opposing military missions undertaken abroad.  She voted against condemning MoveOn.org’s disgraceful, full-page New York Times ad that attacked the integrity of General David Petraeus.  More recently, of course, she dressed down a brigadier general on national television, insisting that he call her “senator” instead of “ma’am.”

Godwin’s Law II: ‘Racism’ Charge Loses Debate

by Tim Slagle

We owe a great favor to Mike Godwin. Those of us who have spent any amount of time arguing nonsense on the Internet are familiar with Godwins Law. Briefly, Godwins Law states: “As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches … given enough time, all discussions —regardless of topic or scope —inevitably wind up being about Hitler and the Nazis.”

Bush-Hitler-300x255

The most wonderful aspect of Godwin is that “there is a tradition in many newsgroups, and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically ‘lost’ whatever debate was in progress.”

Now there are exceptions to Godwin, for instance when discussing Jesse James affair with Bombshell McGee, it would be quite difficult to not bring up Nazi references. As a student of Hayek, a personal beef I have, is that sometimes a political argument requires a comparison.

Friedrich A. Hayek believed, the infringements on Liberty caused by programs like National Health Care, or any other central planning, will inevitably lead to a totalitarian government that is indistinguishable from National Socialism, save for the logo on the armbands. However being held to Godwin is a rigorous discipline that forces me to plum the depths of my intellect, for an alternate metaphor when discussing issues with liberals.

I believe that Godwin also applied during the years of the Bush Administration. Their argument was lost when Code Pink and MoveOn started with the BusHitler remarks, and I think images of the current President sporting a Charlie Chaplin moustache should probably be discouraged as well.

But I think we should add another corollary to Godwins Law. I think that if you call your opponent a Racist, you have also lost the argument.
