Obama’s Second Term: A Cabinet of Curiosities
by Steve GrammaticoJanuary 23, 2013
White House, Cabinet Room
First meeting of President Obama’s new team
OBAMA: Listen up, people. I got myself across the finish line but couldn’t bring Congress along. That’s why you’re here. Except for Defense, you represent the first entirely recessed Cabinet in American history. Do me proud. Michelle?
MICHELLE: I’m the new Chief of Staff. You want to see him, you gotta get past me. Waste my time, I’ll cut your budget 10%.
OBAMA: So, let’s hear some fresh ideas. HHS?
MICHAEL MOORE: Now that the World Court has overturned the Supremes and ruled the PPACA [ObamaCare] constitutional, sir, amend the program to cover all humanity. Eventually, include lesser beings, as well. Innumerable uninsured creatures are suffering out there.
OBAMA: Easy, big guy; we’ll do it in stages. After people, we insure the remaining mammalians; then, things with legs; finally, air breathers. Treasury?
PAUL KRUGMAN: I’ve run the numbers, sir: Stimulus IV should tip the worldwide economy into depression within a year.
OBAMA: Good. That gets us closer to the one-world government mankind will demand I lead to left the—I mean, to right the ship. I’m getting bored with the Presidency, anyway. OMB? (more…)
Reason.tv: What We Saw at the Save Our Schools Rally in Washington D.C.: Reason.tv Talks to Matt Damon, Matt Damon’s Mom, Jonathan Kozol, Deborah Meier and More!
by Reason TVOn July 30th, 2011, teachers, parents and advocates such as actor Matt Damon, author Jonathan Kozol, and historian Diane Ravitch gathered for the Save Our Schools Rally outside the White House.
The purpose of the event: “To put the public back in public schools.”
Reason.tv was on hand to talk tenure, the role of money in education, and whether parents should have the right to choose where their kids go to school.
‘Million Teacher March’ Falls About 992,000 People Short
by Kyle OlsonTeachers unions and their supporters hoped to draw 1 million people to Washington D.C. last weekend for their “Save Our Schools” rally. They apparently fell about 992,000 people short.
The embarrassing attendance underlined one major truth – there is no mass movement to maintain the status quo in our nation’s public schools. The only people defending the current system are those who profit from it, like the leaders of the nation’s teachers unions.

The “Save Our Schools” message was honest in one respect – the union goal is to save public schools as they currently exist. Notice that there was no call to improve the quality of education for students, because that’s not what the unions are fighting for.
Their only concern is to maintain a system that has kept unions financially health for decades. The fact that American students are struggling in this system is not on their agenda.
The unions certainly did their best to draw a crowd, even going as far as inviting Matt Damon to be a keynote speaker.
The burning question in my mind was if Damon would draw more people to this rally than he did to his recently flopped film “Green Zone.” The answer was a definite no. And he got a little temperamental when pressed by a reporter from ReasonTV.
Matt Damon: Working Families Party Mouthpiece
by Liberty ChickIt looks like Matt Damon’s been overdosing on Kool-Aid again. He’s apparently doing the bidding now for the ACORN spawn, Working Families Party. Watch as he asks you for his birthday present.
I’m about to celebrate a very important birthday myself, Matt. On November 13th, I turn 41 ! I know, I can’t believe it either.
If there’s something you want to give me for my birthday that’s going to really cheer me up, please tell the recently departing Working Families Party co-chair Bertha Lewis to stop referring to constitutional conservatism as “McCarthyism”. And while you’re at it, could you please ask your friend, President Obama not to call American citizens “enemies” simply for not belonging to his political party?
I think maybe it’s time to step away from Soroswood and start paying attention to the real world.
