For Harry Belafonte and Other Progressive Blacks, the Reality of the Obama Presidency Is a Bitter Pill to Swallow

by Kevin L. Martin

For Harry Belafonte and other progressive blacks, the reality of the Obama Presidency is bitter pill to swallow, as he detailed his ongoing unhappiness with the administration.

In a recent radio interview, Belafonte took the President to task and asked what his legacy would be in the wake of the opportunities he has been given. Mr. Belafonte’s criticism comes at a time when President Obama finds himself under increasing pressure for the far left wing of his Party, as they feel he has failed to deliver on his promises of hope and change.

For months now, President Obama has been under pressure from members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and other black activists to start addressing those problems facing the most loyal voting bloc of the Democrat Party, yet the President and his advisers have pushed back against this, claiming they are concerned about the problems facing all Americans.

Belafonte’s criticism and anger are understandable, as he and many like him thought that the Obama Presidency was going to lead to the fulfillment of all the progressive promises of the last 60 years, especially those promises made by Democrats and their sock puppet leaders such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Belafonte and other black Democrat activists know full well that they will have a harder time turning out record numbers of black voters in any effort to reelect President Obama this time. In 2008, the narrative in the black community was that the election of Barack Obama was in part way the fulfillment of Dr. Martin Luther King’s Dream, but with more than 3 years under his belt, Belafonte and others would be hard pressed to find anyone in the black community who could claim they are better off today than they were 3 years ago. Congressman Bishop’s Wife Accused by Co-Worker of Check Fraud Scheme

by Jeffrey Scott Shapiro

Congressman Sanford Bishop’s wife, Vivian Bishop, who is the Municipal County Clerk of Muscogee County in Georgia may be involved in a fraudulent check-writing scheme against both her office and the Black Congressional Caucus Foundation Scholarship Fund, Big Government has learned.

Last year, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Congressman Bishop gave “privately-funded scholarships to his stepdaughter and his wife’s niece,” through the Black Congressional Caucus Scholarship Foundation fund, and according to sources, a co-worker—Joanne Flantroy–witnessed Vivian Bishop deposit at least one of those checks into her own bank account.

Some of that evidence along with copies of 19 municipal checks will be presented today at 10 a.m. EST during a hearing in Muscogee Superior Court by Flantroy, whom Vivian Bishop is now seeking a protective order against.

Democrats Continue To Embrace Troubling Occupy Movement

by Dan Riehl

Just as Obama originally encouraged and has continued to be supportive of the increasingly troubling and destructive Occupy movement, many of his fellow Democrats are following suit.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s (I) decision to evict Occupy Wall Street protesters from a Lower Manhattan park is a blow to free speech, several House Democrats said.

Even the Washington Post is now pointing out the many disturbing crimes linked to the movement, including multiple deaths. As it’s done from the start, Big Government has continued to track same, the rap sheet currently totals over 250 significant incidents. Yet, Democrats like Charlie Rangel, Jerry Nadler, Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, along with many other prominent Democrats in Congress continue to side with what the Post suggested is more an “infestation,” than it is an occupation.

Slander of Tea Party Continues: Why Blacks Must Be Critical of Race-Baiting

by Terrence Jackson

If you were to pile Hollywood’s most talented black actors, actresses, and singers into a room, many of them would echo the same sentiment towards the Tea Party movement — that they are, in effect, little more than a fringe racist organization.

It was Samuel L. Jackson most recently who, while entertaining children at a “Reach Out and Read” benefit that featured other well-known thespians such as Julianne Moore and John C. Reilly, decided to follow in the footsteps of the Congressional Black Caucus, all while chatting up a reporter for the New Yorker:

While we were on the subject, we asked Jackson if he agreed with fellow thespian Morgan Freeman, who caused something of a ruckus recently after he claimed that the tea party is racist. “It’s pretty obvious what they are,” Jackson told us. “The division of the country is not about the government having too much power. I think everything right now is geared toward getting that guy out of office, whatever that means,” he said, echoing Freeman. “It’s not politics. It is not economics. It all boils down to pretty much to race. It is a shame.”

Of course, Jackson did not simply come out and say what he believes. Apparently, he was one of only two beings (the other his shadow) that hadn’t been informed of the “N-head” controversy (if it can even be viewed as such) of Republican hopeful Rick Perry. Jackson made it abundantly clear that he was convinced the “shock rock” (as a close associate referred to it) wouldn’t affect Perry negatively. After all, “He’s a Republican and this is America”. You see, Mr. Jackson not only believes that Republicans are inherently racist, but that the same holds true for the entirety of the United States. That is what the real shame is. (more…)

The Real Congressional Black Caucus

by Accuracy in Media

From Accuracy in Media’s Benjamin Johnson:

While there has been a lot of he said – she said about the Congressional Black Caucus Convention last week, it seems no one sought to report on the deeper purpose of the meeting. Accuracy in Media’s Benjamin Johnson covered black Americans’ feelings toward President Obama and the state of our Republic.  We gathered exclusive reactions from movie stars, civil rights leaders, athletes, politicians, military heroes and a Nigerian priest in the process.

The CBC was a practice in how well Barack Obama has served the black community.  Even though their allegiance lay (almost) exclusively with the President, there seemed to be a need to explain the shortcomings of the last three years.

Is Obama Marching Somewhere or Just Getting Carried Away?

by Jeannie DeAngelis

Imagine this scenario:  a white Tea Party politician is keynote speaker, addressing an all-white political group with ‘White’ in its name.  Also imagine that same politician appealing to a singular, segregated racial group, telling them to lace up their combat boots and join the fight.

A strikingly similar situation took place at a Congressional Black Caucus dinner attended by 3,000 leaders, some of whom are disgruntled over an economy suffering from Barack Obama’s policy bungles. The President used the opportunity to acknowledge that blacks have “suffered mightily because of the recession, and are frustrated that the downturn is taking so long to reverse.”

In addition to commiserating, America’s “post-racial” president exploited the occasion to agitate a group of racially sensitive people who he must think would be ready to march at his behest.

Speaking passionately, Obama was so worked up that he failed to acknowledge the effect his detrimental ideological policy decisions have had on the people he claims he wants to help.  Rather than come up with viable solutions to the problems he created, Obama’s go-to defense, as usual, was to up the dissension level by reminding his audience, “So many people are still hurting. So many people are barely hanging on. And so many people in this city are fighting us every step of the way.”

One thing’s for sure – Barack Obama is adept at pointing out problems, recognizing that ‘people are barely hanging on,’ and then misidentifying the culprit and trying to recruit fighters for a cause without direction.

CBC Conference Attendees Say Tea Party Is Racist

by Bob Parks

MRCTV visited the 41st Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and found that some of those we met up with believe the Tea Party and/or its members are racist, and some even hurled racial slurs at Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain and Rep. Allen West. Curiously the mainstream media was absent while we were there, not asking questions of the CBC attendees like the ones they vigorously asked of Tea Party members at their rallies.

Tea Party Activists: 21st Century Civil Rights Leaders

by Stacy M. Swimp

On August 21, 2011, Rep. Maxine Waters, a senior member of the Congressional Black Caucus, at what was supposed to be a “jobs fair”, in Inglewood, California, made the following statement: “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell and I intend to help them get there!”

At a town hall meeting in Miami, Florida, on August 22, 2011 Rep. Andre Carson, also a Congressional Black Caucus member, charged that there are members of congress, who are Tea Party members, that have nefarious intentions towards Americans of African descent. Among his accusations:

•The Tea Party is stopping change in Congress
•“This is the effort that we are seeing of Jim Crow”
•“Some of these folks would love to see us as second class citizens”
•“Some of them in Congress right now of this Tea Party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree”

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL), another member of the Congressional Black Caucus, at the same “jobs fair” in Miami, Florida, stated: “Let us all remember who the real enemy is,” she said. “The real enemy is the Tea Party. The Tea Party holds the Congress hostage. They have one goal in mind, and that’s to make President Obama a one-term president.”

Black Caucus Members Brag About Helping Design Obama’s Jobs Plan and Smear Tea Party, Again!

by Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) was recently interviewed on MSNBC after President Obama’s speech on his $447 Billion jobs plan and was asked how much the president was listening directly to the Congressional Black Caucus. Waters responded:

“We can see our handprint all over this proposal. We’re pleased about it and wish it had been even bigger, but it’s substantial and it targets the communities in need….”

The CBC’s entitlement-laced jobs plan was on full display at their shameless political pep-rally, which masqueraded as a townhall for jobs, on August 30th in Los Angeles. Black lawmakers demanded government programs, attacked the tea party, and lavished one another with compliments in front of an audience of more than 700 people.

The South Central L.A. Tea Party attended the forum and we were able to get some revealing video footage of these lawmakers in action.

Maxine Waters got the crowd worked up and encouraged them to organize and march against the tea party. She also called for money for a “national housing trust fund” and threatened to tax the “gangsters on Wall Street” out of business.  She went on to say:

“…We have been fighting to get the banks and financial institutions to do loan modifications….They didn’t want bankruptcy, they don’t want to reduce the principle, it’s time for the bully pulpit of the White House to bring the gangsters in, put them around the table and let them know that if they don’t come up with loan modifications to keep people in their homes…we’re going to tax them out of business! [Loud audience applause] We need money….One of the things that we’re going for is a national housing trust fund to build more housing and rental units….”

Maxine Waters to Obama: Treat Blacks Like Iowans

by Publius

From Politico:

Just hours before President Barack Obama addresses a joint session of Congress on his jobs plan, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) is demanding the nation’s first African-American president prove he cares as much about unemployed blacks as he does about Iowa’s swing voters.

“There are roughly 3 million African Americans out of work today, a number nearly equal to the entire population of Iowa. I would suggest that if the entire population of Iowa, a key state on the electoral map and a place that served as a stop on the president’s jobs bus tour were unemployed, they would be mentioned in the president’s speech and be the beneficiary of targeted public policy,” Waters said in a statement to POLITICO on Thursday.

“So, one question to be answered this evening is, are the unemployed in the African-American community, including almost 45 percent of its youth, as important as the people of Iowa?” Waters asked.

Andre Carson’s True Colors

by Larry O'Connor

By now we’ve all heard the reprehensible remarks made by Congressional Black Caucus Whip Andre Carson (D-IN) where he told the audience at a CBC Jobs Fair Town Hall in Miami that Tea Party Congressmen would like to lynch black people.  Given the opportunity to revise or retract his remarks, Carson instead stood by “the truth” of his comments.

So now it seems pretty fair to say that Andre Carson is a race-baiting bigot who has brought shame upon the U. S. House of Representatives. But any regular reader of Big Government knows that this is not new information.  In fact, Andre Carson’s despicable, divisive slander of August 22nd is just the latest of bogus attacks made by the 2nd term congressman against the Tea Party.  Andre Carson is the man who told the mother of all race-baiting lies against the Tea Party: That racial slurs were screamed “fifteen times” at he and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) in Washington DC on the day before the ObamaCare vote in 2010.

The headlines at the time (as well as Topic #1 on cable news and Sunday talk shows) was “Racist Tea Party Yells ‘N-Word’ at Civil Rights Icon John Lewis”.  Andre Carson’s name was hardly mentioned in any of the stories.  But a Big Government investigation revealed that it was he, in fact, who gathered Capitol Hill reporters around himself on March 20, 2010 and breathlessly told them what had happened “outside of Cannon (Congressional Office Building)” just moments before.  (audio courtesy Kerry Pickett, Washington Times)

By now you know the story become part of Democratic Party lore showing up in talking points as recently as just last week as Alan Colmes mangled the “facts” but still was able to perpetuate the lie on Fox News’ “O’Reilly Factor”. You should also know by now that Andrew Breitbart offered a $100, 000 reward for anyone who can produce video proof o the supposed racial hatred.  The only videos uncovered were found by the Big Government staff.  They show the exact moment Carson described, “down the steps of Cannon”, from four different angles.  Not only were there no slurs heard on any of the videos, but the scene is not at all how Carson described it to Capitol Hill reporters.

Special Interest Racial Incitement at Its Peak

by Frank Salvato

If you thought the class warfare tactic was being used successfully by the Progressive Left to instigate strife between the upper and lower classes in the United States you need to re-examine what you think you are seeing. With declarations by three Congressional Black Caucus Progressives that target the TEA Party, we witness a pathetic attempt by special interest Progressive Leftists to re-package the contrived charge of racism against what is essentially Middle Class America.

Over the past two weeks we have experienced some incredibly caustic declarations by three Congressional Black Caucus members: US Rep. Maxine Waters (P-CA), US Rep. Frederica Wilson (P-FL) and US Rep. Andre Carson (P-IN). All three, evidently, have little respect for their own President who, just after the shooting of US Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), called for “toning down the rhetoric.”

On August 20, 2011, while speaking to a friendly audience at a Los Angeles “community summit,” Maxine Waters, a member of both the Progressive and Congressional Black Caucuses in the US House said:

“I’m not afraid of anybody…This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned, the ‘tea party’ can go straight to Hell.”

On August 22, 2011, at a Miami, FL, town hall meeting, Frederica Wilson, again, a member of both the Progressive and Congressional Black Caucuses in the US House said:

“Let us all remember who the real enemy is. The real enemy is the Tea Party…The Tea Party holds the Congress hostage. They have one goal in mind, and that’s to make President Obama a one-term president.”

Also in attendance was one Jesse Jackson of Rainbow/PUSH, a community organizing group that pressures institutions – both financial and otherwise – into doing things that would otherwise be considered ridiculous, like offering low-interest housing loans to unqualified buyers and coercing municipalities into hiring lower-scoring minority applicants to positions regarding public safety in the name of “diversity.” Rev. Jackson, a leader in the community organizing movement of social justice before he was eclipsed by one Barack Obama, compared the TEA Party to opposition to the civil-rights movement. “The Tea Party is a new name on an old game…Dr. King fought a ‘tea party’ in Alabama.”

William Shakespeare Responds to the CBC Declaration of War Against The Tea Party

by Jeff Dunetz
During the past few weeks we have been covering the cross-country trip of Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) who have been been using job fairs as an excuse to incite hatred against the grass roots Tea Party movement. Among the more famous incidents were Maxine Waters telling the Tea Party to go to hell,  Frederica Wilson declaring the Tea Party as the enemy, and CBC Whip Andre’ Carson’s statement that the Tea Party programs are the efforts of Jim Crow who would like to see Black American’s “hanging from a tree.”

These charges are very serious and very false.  Rather than try to address these CBC charges myself, I have decided to ask someone much more talented in the language arts to answer the Congressional Black Caucus.  I’ve channeled the Bard himself, William Shakespeare to answer the CBC’s  reprehensible, divisive rhetoric. This morning I went to a medium-rare and spoke to the spirit of the Bard of Avon, below is what he told me to write:

To call me names if it will feed nothing else,
it will feed my resolve. The CBC hath disgraced me, and
hindered me with their mistruths; laughed at my losses,
mocked at my policy, scorned my constitution, thwarted my
honest dialogue, cooled my supporters, heated mine
enemies; and what’s his reason? I am a tea party patriot.

Hath not a patriot eyes? hath not a patriot hands, organs,
dimensions, senses, affections, passions? fed with
the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject
to the same diseases, healed by the same means,
warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as
a CBC Democrat is?

If you prick us, do we not bleed?
if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison
us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not
expose you for what you are? If we are like you in the rest,
we will resemble you in that.

If a tea party patriot wrong a Democrat,
what is his humility? Lies.
If a Democrat
wrong a tea party patriot,
what should his sufferance be by
the Democratic example?
Why, TRUTH. The villainy you teach us,
we will execute the opposite, and will expose you
for what you are,  frauds
who bully American voters like us lest we remind the public
you have no entitlement to your position
Nay we hold the power and you sit at our whim and will

New Divisiveness From The Racists in the Congressional Black Caucus

by Jeff Dunetz

Enough with the nonsensical term of “racers” they are racists!  Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)  joined by other prominent African Americans  supposedly for a series of job fairs.  What they are really doing is spewing vile false racist charges against the tea party.  Prominent in this pack of traveling racists is Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who was recently caught on tape telling the tea party to go to hell… pretty strong words for a woman charged with misusing her office to help her husband’s bank get some TARP funds.

The most recent stop for this group of African American racial agitators  was Miami Beach.  The night before the jobs fair they held a town hall so they could talk politics. Rather than  discuss politics this group set up on their objective widen the racial divide in America.

“The real enemy is the tea party –- let’s remember that,” said Rep. Frederica Wilson of Miami Gardens, host of the meeting and jobs fair. “The tea party holds Congress hostage…They have one goal in mind, and that’s to make President Obama a one-term president.”

Funny last time I checked the tea party was offering ideas, and the Republicans were presenting budgets and programs, while Ms Wilson’s party  presented nothing.

Maxine Waters Wants the Tea Party to Go to Hell Because We Are Winning

by Kevin L. Martin

Rep. Maxine Water (D-California) recently held a town hall meeting in her home district in which she stated that, “The Tea Party can go straight to hell”?

Well Maxine your anger is quite understandable given the success of the Tea Party Movement as of late. The Tea Party was right to stand against the political establishment in the debt ceiling fight. The compromise many of us opposed led to the downgrading of America’s credit rating by S &P. We turned back a well-funded 30 million dollars effort by your union allies in the state of Wisconsin to recall 6 Republican State Senators. While the tea party has been finding success in our battles against your brand of politics, you and your fellow Democrats have been left to making excuses for the President Obama’s failures as a leader. He and his handlers have been forced to take to the airwaves and blame his policy failures on everything from the Arab Spring in the Middle East to the Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami and bad luck, former President Bush and even technology.

The majority of the American People are clearly seeing that President Obama’s Brand of Hope and Change (Keynesian Economics) simply doesn’t work. It is real hard to sell the American people on the myth that you are working so hard on our behalf, when we continue to get photo-ops of the you on the golf course or on vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.

Rep. Waters, Americans are suffering and all President Obama can do is offer up another (already disproven) plan that will lead to more massive governmental spending/borrowing and calls for shared sacrifice (which reality is more of the same class warfare made famous by the believers of Keynesian Economics) just like the failed stimulus package, the same mislabeled job bills before it as well as the new focus tested statement that, “Food stamps are a direct government funded stimulus.”

Food Stamps are direct stimulus, who outside of Washington D.C. would have considered that?

Rep. Waters, you and your fellow politicians in the Washington Establishment have tried to throw every political attack that you can muster at the Tea Party Movement (from the every card in the race deck to labeling us a fringe movement), yet we remain fighting trim at every turn in our ability to take our arguments directly to the American people. It is has been said, “If politicians in Washington D.C. are complaining about you, then you must be doing something right.” While Members of the Congressional Black Caucus and other Progressive activists continue to try deal from the worn out deck of race cards, the Tea Party gathers even more mainstream appeal with each passing day. I also remain fully aware that you are seeking to reenergize the coalition that propelled President Obama to victory in 2008, but the same coalition of Blacks, Women, Hispanics and young people would be hard pressed to admit that they are better off today than they were 2.8 years ago. Trying to blame the Tea Party is not going to make it any better because it was not the Tea Party that made promises of Hope and Change, but President Obama. The pictures of the Congressional Black Caucus’s job fairs and town-halls in places like Atlanta and Detroit speak volumes to who have been hurt the most and show why the Tea Party has been so right about President Obama and his allies in Congress all along.

Rep. Waters, you might want the Tea Party Movement to go straight to hell or simply disappear, but the reality of the matter is that the Tea Party Movement is made up of common sense every day Americans. If this is the tactic that the Congressional Black Caucus and other Obama supporters are going to depend on in 2012, it simply is not going to fly with those who have and continue to suffer the most under his Presidency.

The members of the Tea Party Movement believe that real hope and change comes at the voting box, coupled with term limits for those like Rep. Maxine Waters have been in Washington too long with no level of real accountability. This is why she want us to go straight to hell. The jig is up and it could be another generation before you are able to sell failed Keynesian Economics to the masses.

Political Realities Are a Bit Hard for Rep. Maxine Waters to Accept

by Kevin L. Martin

Seems Rep. Maxine Waters let her private frustrations with President Obama boil over publicly at the recent “For the People” Jobs Initiative forum in Detroit

Rep. Waters has a hard time dealing with reality.

Rep. Waters politely chastised President Obama for not including majority Black Communities on his, “jobs bus tour,” of the Mid-West recently. Water’s went on to publicly admit that she and her fellow Congressional Black Caucus(CBC) Members were/are tired of making excuses for the President within the Black Community, but then admitted that they don’t put pressure on the President because he is beloved in the same community and they don’t want either he or the community coming after them.

I say to Rep. Waters, “if those excuses actually sleep at night, then so be it,” but in reality, President Obama and his handlers know full well that he will receive over 90% of the Black Vote in 2012, no matter how bad things get for the community.

What is really upsetting to Rep. Waters is in reality that she and her fellow CBC members are feeling the heat from some even more Leftist activists within the Black Community, who are asking, “Where is the political payback for once again delivering over 90% of the Black Vote for Democrat Candidates in 2010 and why won’t this President take our calls, let alone be seen in public with us?

RACISTS! The Congressional Black Caucus Bashes President Obama

by Jeff Dunetz

Speaking at a town hall in Detroit Michigan, Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)and the mostly African-American audience criticized President Barack Obama for his lousy showing on jobs and for his political bus tour making campaign stops in predominantly Caucasian neighborhoods.

California Rep. Maxine Waters tried to explain to the attendees that she and other members of the Black Caucus that she and her fellow CBC members had to walk a fine line because many in the communities they represent had great love for President Barack Obama, it can be anywhere from difficult to impossible for Waters and the other members to be as critical of the president as she wanted to be. An obvious racist reference to the fact the President’s mother was Caucasian.

The problem, Waters said, is that Obama is not paying enough attention to the problems of some black Americans.  The unemployment rate for African-Americans nationally is a little over 16 percent, and almost twice that in Detroit.  And yet, Waters said, the president is on a jobs-promotion trip through the Midwest that does not include any stops in black communities.

See what I mean, Waters is objecting to the fact that this President wants to visit with people of his mother’s race also?  It seems like a fight between husband and wife over whose family to spend Thanksgiving with.

Debt Deal: A Political Win For Conservatives, but Is it a Road Map For Saving America?

by Jeff Dunetz

After weeks of hard negotiation a compromise deal is has been drafted and will be voted on by both houses before the end of the day tomorrow. This deal does give a political victory for some of the players and more importantly can even lead to a victory for the country provided that GOP leadership of both houses consider this as a starting point, and make certain steps to keep the pressure coming. The bill will not forestall a ratings download, but honestly I don’t believe that anything could as even a bill that cut $4 trillion doesn’t cut the deficit but merely slows down its growth.

The winner in this debate is the tea party movement (somebody tell the media and Senator McCain there is no tea party per se). Think about it for a second, on June 22nd the Democratic party was talking stimulus as part of the debt reduction plan, that talk is gone. The tea party movement has seized the conversation, the debate is no longer spending vs. cutting, now the argument is how much should be cut and/or from where. That in itself is a big win.The big demand going into these talks was no new taxation and budget cuts that were bigger than the debt ceiling increase.  That too was achieved.  Tea Party demands that weren’t achieved were passage of the BBA (the legislation calls only for a vote) and bigger cuts in the budget (the plan only cuts $2.8 trillion), and finally if the GOP leadership chooses incorrectly there is nothing to stop the “super committee” from raising taxes (more about that later).

Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader McConnell were also winners. They held to the no new taxes pledge despite daily rumors that they had already folded and crafted a deal prior to tomorrow’s deadline. Boehner gets more credit than the Minority Leader as he was the face of the opposition, took all the heat, and showed himself willing to compromise, not only with Obama but with his coalition to make a deal happen.

Keeping the Heat on Sanford Bishop

by Andrew Breitbart

For weeks now, our readers have asked a consistent question about Pigford — “Can I get a quick, clear explanation about what Pigford is and why it’s important so I can explain this to friends who don’t want to read a 30 page report?”

Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA) has given us an answer.

Here’s the quick pitch — Sanford Bishop is the congressman who admitted he knew about massive fraud in the Pigford settlement that was supposed to help black farmers but when confronted by farmers hurt by the Pigford settlement, he says it’s not his job to do anything about fraud.

Why is Pigford important? Because it’s a perfect example of everything conservatives and libertarians — and, hopefully, honest liberals — hate about government spending programs that cost billions, create fraud and waste, promote vote buying and don’t even solve the problem they set out to fix.

And it’s been covered up and falsely promoted by the media for over a decade now. Repeat after me: The actual black farmers were intentionally hurt more by Pigford.

CBC’s Clyburn Knocks Pigford II Fraud Safeguards on House Floor

by Gary Hewson

As the Pigford investigation continues, it is important to note that we have demonstrated in our Pigford Report that there is massive fraud in the Pigford I settlement, but you have yet to hear a pro-Pigford politician admit to that fact.  To this day, President Obama’s Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack maintains there are, at most, 10 cases of fraud. Big Government showed two videos of black farmers alleging that Congressman Sanford Bishop not only knew about the fraud in Pigford I, but also instructed the black farmers who brought the information to light to keep quiet as long as “the money was flowing.”

It’s important to note that Eddie Slaughter is not just a black farmer, he is the Vice President of one of the largest black farmer advocacy groups in America, the Black Farmers and Agriculturalists Association.

After seeing the BigGovernment.com interview, Congressman Bishop, clearly upset with the video revelation, made the following admission to his local paper, the Albany Herald yesterday:

“Yes, I am aware that there is fraud in the program, that’s why anti-fraud provisions were written into the settlement,” Bishop said Thursday morning “My job was to help secure funding for constituents who had been discriminated against by the USDA. It’s not my job to monitor fraud in the program. I can’t assume responsibility for fraud. You can’t lay that at my feet.”

“This is ridiculous. It’s not my job to determine who is a qualified claimant or not, or who gets paid or who doesn’t get paid.”

“I’ve worked with Eddie Slaughter for more than 15 years.”

We now have an admission from a prominent member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and a co-sponsor of Pigford legislation, that he was not only told by a black farmer that the Pigford I payout process was “rife with fraud,” but also that as a member of Congress there was nothing he could do about it.
