Fast & Furious Makes Federal Government Accomplices in Crime and Murder

by Jason Bradley

Read with caution. This is the kind of hell big government liberals can unleash on American citizens from their lofty perches in Washington DC.

In addition to having nearly unhindered access to our southern border, the most violent gangs in the Western hemisphere were armed to the teeth by the US federal government. The results are what one would expect. We know at least one US Border Patrol agent and hundreds of Mexican citizens were killed as a result. The guns are still out there and so are the gangs. Meanwhile, local law enforcement and border patrol agents must contend with the consequences created by elements outside of their control.

Their job is to prevent infiltration of guns, illegals, and drugs from entering our country and using local communities as bases of operation. Secretary Napolitano, with the approval from the Obama administration, has done her best to prevent border agents from doing their jobs. The Government Accountability Office estimated that only 15 percent of our southern border is actually operationally controlled. Inaction doesn’t do enough to explain this.

DNC Chair Mad that GOP Wants to Make It Illegal to Be an Illegal Alien…Or Something

by Warner Todd Huston

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a Democrat Congresswoman from Florida and is currently the head of the Democrat National Committee. She is also one of the most vitriolic, off base, half informed demagogues of the far left in America today. There are tons of examples of her lies and calumnies out there — it’s an almost daily occurrence now that she is DNC head — but today we have a new one. This time DWS is lamenting how Republicans want to make illegal immigration, well, illegal.

Yes, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is not bright enough to catch the “illegal” part in the phrase “illegal immigrant.” Apparently the question, “what part of illegal don’t you get,” is one she doesn’t get.

Naked Emperor has the video of Wasserman Schultz from May 26 of this year.

Transcript:

I think the president was clearly articulating that his position — Democrats position — is that we need comprehensive immigration reform. We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy. And that, that is not only a reality but a necessity. And that it would be harmful if some — you know, the Republican solutions that I’ve seen in the last few years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries, and in fact it should be a crime and we should arrest them all. I mean that was in legislation that Jim Sensenbrenner advanced a couple of years ago.

A Politically Incorrect Look at President Obama’s Approach to Border Security

by AWR Hawkins

Around the world, Western nations that wish to remain culturally in tact or, in some cases, simply to survive, are currently bolstering their borders and revamping their immigration policies.

For example, the Danish government recently announced it will “reinstate guards along borders with Sweden and Germany and conduct spot checks designed to fight crime and illegal migration.” Said Danish Justice Minister Lars Barfoed: “Denmark should be a safe country, and we will do all it takes to fight the rise in cross-border crime committed within our borders.” (Both Italy and France have “have demanded the EU changes its rules to allow them to restore some border controls” as well.)

In Israel, where Palestinians frequently seek to breach the security fence on the West Bank, dogs are being employed to track (and deter) those who plan to cross the border illegally. Said an Israeli Army spokesman: “[the dogs] are only brought in as a way of protecting the sprawling separation barrier from Palestinian vandals looking to create openings which would allow ‘terrorists’ to infiltrate Israel.”

Of course, there are many who will consider Israel’s use of dogs in this instance to be too harsh, too draconian. In which case the larger point has been missed: and that larger point is that Israelis resort to such measures precisely because they place such a high value on their own security. (If, perchance, you’re wondering how successful such measures have proven to be, just consider the impression the dogs made upon a Palestinian who recently tried to cross the border illegally: “At about 5:00 am I got to the border to try and get through a hole in the fence when all of a sudden a dog attacked me and tried to savage my hand. When I managed to get my hand away, it bit my backside.”)

Two safe bets that could be made at this point:

Immigrating Prosperity: Part 1, The Battle Lines

by Tad Lumpkin

So here we are. We have somewhere in the neighborhood of 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States. The rhetoric surrounding the debate is deafening and it seems most of the volume comes from one of two points of view. In the blue corner you have “amnesty” and in the red corner you have “round’em up and throw them out”. Well what if neither of these options provides any realistic or long term solution to the issue faced by having so many people here illegally?

“Amnesty” might be one of the most divisive terms out there right now, but what’s wrong with it? For starters we tried it already, in 1986, when we had about 3 million illegal immigrants. Now we have 11 million illegals. It didn’t work. At best all amnesty does is kick the can down the road until the illegal population builds back up to intolerable levels. We were at the breaking point in the mid eighties and we’re back at the breaking point again. Only now with a lot higher numbers. This policy also creates an atmosphere of disregard for the rule of law, continues to promote entering America through the “backdoor”, and does nothing to deal with the border security issue. And of course it never addresses the economic, social or political impacts of transitioning so many unassimilated people from the shadows to the citizenry.

The “round em up” crowd is just generally mad at an array of things. They think those who came here illegally cut in line, steal their jobs and destroy American culture. They see an incompetent Federal Government that rubs salt in the wound with baskets of welfare goodies passed out indiscriminately.

The main problem with the “round em uppers” is the total implausibility of extracting and deporting 11 million people.

What We Believe, Part VI: Immigration

by Bill Whittle

One of the biggest slanders leveled against the Tea Party Movement is that they are “anti-immigrant.” That’s nonsense, and everyone knows it. We Conservatives are not “anti-immigration” — we are anti-ILLEGAL immigration, and for a large number of very good reasons; not the least of which is that it makes fools out of the thousands and millions of honest, hard-working and patient LEGAL immigrants who are playing by the rules and doing the right thing by their new home.

There’s a pretty handy response to the whole “we didn’t cross the border; the border crossed us” nonsense you hear from racist groups like La Raza (The Race!) Once you get the issue away from being for or against immigration, versus being for or against illegal immigration, well… we can win all across the board on that ground.

American Rancher X – Part 1

by Pat Dollard

I remember using the Jeep Cherokee’s door for cover, moving fast, hunched over, running zig-zag from tree to boulder to tree for cover, instinctively, as if I was still in the sniper hell of Ramadi. This was the very first time I had dismounted on a recon mission near the border in southern Arizona. Given that we were scouting an extremely rough, remote dirt road that we had been told was only used at night by Mexican cash mules heading south to Mexico, and given that it was surrounded by perfect hilltop sniper hides, this made sense. As disorienting as it was to be doing this mere miles form my home, it just made sense.

mexsignSign on the other side of American Rancher X’s fence

The day ended without incident, and the next day began the same. We were heading to another key trafficking area, and were going to go right up to the border. Two of our team, non-journalist, non-militia civilians, wanted to engage in a little for-the-camera horseplay, and piss on Mexico. Despite knowing better, I told them it was okay, and that I’d take the shot. I had begun to think that I was taking things too seriously the day before, and should lighten up.

Getting closer to the border, we continued our regular task of finding, tracking, mapping, and decoding what we were discovering to be a vast network of illegal immigrant trails. Many of the trails were strewn with every type of human debris imaginable, some of it layered so thick it was clear that the layers were years in the making. (more…)

Of Thee I Sing 1776

The Sad Spectacle of US Immigration Policy

by Of Thee I Sing 1776

The apparent absence of grownups in the Administration and in Congress (not just this Administration and not just this Congress) has produced a truly sad, and indeed, scandalous spectacle.  History will not treat our current ruling class kindly with respect to immigration policy, nor should it.  If our own federal government doesn’t show sufficient respect for our nation’s borders, why should we expect anyone else to?

smugglers-gulch_44373112

Clearly, the federal government has the sole authority and responsibility under the constitution to protect the nation’s borders.  But if the government fails, utterly fails, to discharge that responsibility or, worse, fails to even show an inclination to secure its borders, it is entirely reasonable that border states will attempt to do what the federal government has refused to do.  Sneaking into the United States in violation of all of our immigration procedures is a serious violation of our laws. Ignoring the law, or doing little or nothing to enforce the law, does not make illegal immigration any less illegal.

Arizona, the state with the most porous border, and with the highest ratio of illegal immigrants to population has enacted legislation (SB 1070) in an attempt to discourage the flow of illegals into its jurisdiction and to have sent home those illegals whose actions have raised reasonable suspicion of other violations of the law.   It is suspected violations of the law other than illegal entry that authorizes law-enforcement officers to inquire into one’s resident status, not the color of one’s skin, not one’s accent or one’s social customs.

SB 1070, contrary to what so many media talking heads and opportunistic politicians have suggested, is not a reincarnation of Nazi Germany’s Nuremberg Laws, and Governor Jan Brewer, who signed the Arizona bill into law is not a reincarnation of Adolph Hitler.   Those who are whipping masses of well-intentioned Americans into a frenzy by equating Governor Brewer or SB 1070 with Nazism are far more reminiscent of Joseph Goebbels and his Nazi “big lie” propaganda campaign than are those Arizona lawmakers who are simply trying to do something about the unimpeded tide of illegal immigration into their state.

We would favor a sensible path to legal status including eventual citizenship for those undocumented aliens who want only to work, contribute to America’s growth and who respect our laws and our language, IF the federal government first secured the nation’s borders.  The reality is that a huge number of those who have come here without proper authorization, today, have children who are, in every respect, 100% American citizens. Another sad reality is that many, perhaps most, of those who so vehemently oppose what Arizona has legislated into law, really oppose any Act or policy, or the enforcement of any law, that deals with illegal immigration as a violation of the law.

Illegal Immigration Is Human Trafficking. Why Don’t Progressives Care?

by Andrew Marcus

Drudge linked to two stories related to the Arizona immigration law recently signed into law.

97aliens-300x225

Headline #1 – Illegals plan to leave AZ over law… Success! People who are here illegally are going to leave in a way that won’t cost the government money in deportation costs. How can anyone argue that people leaving, who have broken the law and are here illegally, is a bad thing. Let them all get in line and come in the legal way like others are expected to. Or are certain classes of people simply not expected to obey immigration laws?

Headline #2 – Bloomberg: ‘We are committing national suicide’…

Bloomberg says:

“This is not good for the country. I don’t agree with it,” he said. “We love immigrants here.”

Mike is half right. We do love immigrants here. Very very much. One way to show respect to those who have respected our laws and traveled here legally, in a documented way, is to be sure and not give a free pass to people who sneak in illegally. If the cost of labor goes up and jobs go to Americans instead of cheap undocumented workers, then that sounds like something the party of labor unions would be for. Or are they for something else entirely?

The sad truth is that so called Progressives are full of crap on this issue.

Explosives Theft Qualifies As Near-Miss for USA

by Bob McCarty

Imagine tons of explosives being stolen in Mexico and then transported by truck across the border into the United States. Could it happen? Over the weekend, it did. Almost.

On Friday, according to an article in the Latin American Herald Tribune, 18 tons of industrial explosives were stolen from a cargo container during a robbery along the Monterrey-Saltillo Highway in the northern Mexico state of Nuevo Leon. According to subsequent reports, Mexican officials located and recovered the stolen explosives within hours. The thieves, however, remain at large.

But should Americans rest easy now? Not after this near-miss event.

According to officials with the Mexican industry association, Canacar, thefts from cargo trucks on Mexico’s highways increased 40 percent last year.

North of the border, officials with the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association are calling upon the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to immediately challenge the legality of the tariffs implemented one year ago by Mexico so that the debate regarding cross-border trucking with Mexico can be shifted from economics to highway safety and security.
