Rep. Andre Carson: Tea Party Protesters Are ‘One of the Largest Threats to our Internal Security’

Andre Carson gathered Capitol Hill reporters around him and told the tale of racial slurs and menacing crowds on the verge of hurling rocks at the congressmen. Our first few videos showed the congressmen coming out of the Cannon Office Building, walking down the steps and into Independence Avenue from various angles. None of those videos revealed the racial hatred Rep. Carson conveyed to reporters that day and none of the videos showed a mob rushing or in any way impeding the congressmen.
When Rep. Carson gathered reporters around him to spread the myth of racial slurs being hurled “fifteen times” he painted the protesters not just as racists, but as a terrorist threat. We know this, because Kerry Picket of the Washington Times recorded Rep. Carson as he explained it all to eager reporters.
KERRY PICKET (Wash. Times): Do you think the people outside are generally dangerous or no?
REP. CARSON: Oh absolutely. I worked in homeland security. I’m from intelligence, and I’ll tell you, one of the largest threats to our internal security…I mean terrorism has an Islamic face, but it really comes from racial supremacist groups. (inaudible) Its the kind of thing we keep a threat assessment on record [for].
PICKET: From groups like this?
REP. CARSON: Oh absolutely.
And we can now see this two pronged message continuing in the narrative from Democratic politicians and the media: The Tea Party protests are really about white rage and they are sowing the seeds for domestic terrorism. This was the message delivered by Rep. Carson that afternoon and that is the message the media has run with.
Only problem is, we can’t find any proof to back up Rep. Carson’s story. And when challenged, he hides behind the legend and stature of Rep. Lewis. The constant challenge of “Are you calling Rep. John Lewis a liar?” must now be answered with “Are you calling Rep. Andre Carson beyond reproach?”.

While Rep. Carson and the Progressive/Socialist have no problem with calling white people racist, they can't even mention that the "time Square bomber" is Islamic. These Black politicians, not all, but the Democrats that are members of the "black Caucus (how come no one calls that racist, I mean if we had an all white caucus it would be called out) use racism as a stepping stone, while being racist themselves. Islamic terrorism can easily be summed up as a racial supremacist group simply because of their hatred for other religions and peoples outside of the radical Islamic rule. Certainly Rep. Carson is out of line for suggesting that 'protesters' are a threat.
We have seen through the years that those protesting the unfair treatment of minorities, those protesting unfair treatment of workers and those demanding a fair and legitimate immigration system are far from a threat. They are blessing. They ensure that those not equally represented in the Government are not steamrolled by the greed and powerlust of the majority and the rich.
When you are already in power. When you already are financially secure. When the system is already to your advantage: you aren't protesting. You aren't fighting for justice. You aren't fighting for rights.
You are fighting to hold others down.
Certainly, we can agree, that if you hold the cards you have the power. What is the reason to protest just because the Government is attempting to fix a broken, non-inclusive possibly prejudiced system?

Its human nature for people to congregate to others with similarities. That's why there are majority black neighborhoods, latino neighborhoods, white neighborhoods, etc… My first house (townhouse) was in a majority black neighborhood in Baltimore… I had a great time there and enjoyed most of my neighbors (the ones that were friendly to me). I find that it's difficult reaching out to a black man/woman, and getting them to drop their defenses, because of my skin color. Many times I get a cold shoulder or racial comment when they don't even know me.
I think we ALL have to be open to leaving our comfort zone. Reach out to people different from ourselves and get to know them. I always enjoy meeting people with different backgrounds and from different ethnicities. By opening ourselves up, we learn that everyone isn't out to get us. We don't have to be friends with everyone, but we're also not automatically enemies.
I wonder what "groups" he's referring to. The NAACP, the CBC, the United Negro College Fund, Black Panthers, the KKK or La Raza? Do you suppose he is trying to depict racial supremacy as a sort of religion and to what end?

Clearly, as a practicing Muslim with a profound knowledge and understanding of the history and ideology of the religion: He understands that Islam is not the defining characteristic or motivation of the Times Square Bomber and understands there is no need to link religion.
Being a Muslim, he understands that and clearly is able to separate his Muslim religion (which ironically) intertwines politics and government, from his job as a Congressman.

It;'s called basic logic. Learn some. Saying that "All eagles are birds" is true and logical. Saying that "all birds are eagles" is not logical and provably false. Similarly, you can say "all pink colors are shades of red" and have it be correct, but if you say "all shades of red are pink" it would also be provably false. You can make that second statements true by saying "SOME shades of red are pink."

Full disclosure: I am no fan of Richard Nixon. But when anti-war protestors flooded Washington, he went out and spoke with them. Debated in the street calmly. And these protestors weren't nearly as peaceful and orderly as the Tea Party groups. Now our politians will not meet with them on any terms and paint them as racist and security threats.

You make an excellent point! I was reading last week about delusional persecution disorder. It sure sounds a lot like the psychosis of Rep. Carson! He is so convinced that "they're out to get me", but without a shred of evidence to support such a delusion!

There is no system of rules, regulations, and laws out there that can make everything "fair" for everybody so that we all have equal outcomes in life. It isn't possible. Society is too big and too complex. Every law you make with the intent of boosting a group you see as having been treated unfairly and being kept down through oppression comes to the detriment of another group and at the benefit of a wholly separate group that you may have never intended to receive the benefits or at least so much benefit in the first place. Every time you try to make laws like that, you unbalance the system all over again.
I suggest you study the chimera of AT balance in a modern MMO game. Developers always try to balance/equalize the performance of various character types that can be played. They never quite succeed because in the complexity of trying to have variety, they create unintended consequences, winners and losers, with every tweak to their programs they make. It's an overly simplified model, yes, but the principles are the same as seeking what you call "social justice." Additionally, I'd read Thomas Sowell's "The Quest for Cosmic Justice." It'll help you understand where we come from in this justice issue.

Carson is a Muslim, well that explains a lot. I hate to tell you this but, as a historian who has studied war and security issues, Islam is a warrior religion. One of its central tenets is the concept of submission (which is what Islam translates to) of all to the Muslim faith. If one does not submit, either by conversion or dhimmitude, then they should be "vanquished" (Mohammed's words not mine). Muslims cannot separate his religion from their politics, it is intertwined through belief, culture, and learning. Not even the lying Carson.

As a Tea Party Patriot member, I can assure you that Rep. Carson’s comments are ludicrous. The last time I checked, being an American includes all races, genders, and ethnicity's. Andre Carson is clearly spouting negative propaganda against the Tea Party. He obviously sees the Tea Party as a threat to his liberal, progressive movement.

Thank you. I too am calling Lewis and Carson a liar. I have watched all the video available on Biggovernment and I saw nothing he talked about. When my kids tell me a story I can't verify, I call them liars. When you don't tell the truth or you make up a story to make someone else look bad, it's called lying. If you are lying, you are a LIAR. That is too basic for the lofty, so much more intelligent Progressives to figure out. It goes right over their heads.

The worst thing anybody can be called these days is a racist. This accusation can destroy one's reputation and career. Democrats know that and use it to their advantage. I'm sorry Congressman but look in the mirror. There is the largest threat to our security! People like you that have a position of responsibility in this country and abuse that position by not doing your job in making this country secure. When did you last secure our borders? When did you last balance our budget? When did you stop the outrageous, imbecilic spending that has been going on for the pasy 16 months? When did you stop the bailouts for those corporations that gave you money for your campaigns? When did you last read the constitution so that you would know the parameters of you job? When did you last actually do your job rather than taking a salary as if you were on welfare and din't have to actually do any work. You are what is wrong, not those people that bring your work ethic into question.
Libs want to ban people on those arbitrary "terror watch lists" from buying (and owning) firearms. These lists are secret, and people are added without due process. It's difficult to be removed, and the government does not have to justify putting you on the list if they don't want to. FBI, ATF, pretty much any HS or Justice group can add names.
Put 2 plus 2 together… pass a law preventing terror list names from buying firearms + put tea partiers and other conservatives on terror lists = Obama gun control that doesn't look like a gun control law.
