Breaking: Dutch Authorities Claim No Accomplice in Airport; Contradicts Eye-Witness Account
by Larry O'ConnorAccording to Reuters, Dutch authorities have announced that Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, the terrorist who penetrated the Dutch security system on Christmas Day on Flight 253 to Detroit, acted alone with no accomplices at the Amsterdam airport.
This directly contradicts the first-hand, eye-witness account from Kurt Haskell, a lawyer from Taylor, Michigan who was on board Flight 253. We have reported Mr. Haskell’s account here at Big Government as well as his interview with Andrew Breitbart on The Dennis Miller Show, the nationally syndicated radio program on Westwood One.
Mr. Haskell tells us he is sticking to his story. “I’m not surprised, we expected this. They are trying to discredit me without actually PROVING me wrong. But, I’m not going to shut-up about this.“
When asked if the FBI or the Dutch authorities had contacted him to assist in viewing the video tape from the airport to pinpoint the moment where he saw a gentleman of Indian descent trying to usher Mr. Mutallab through the standard security procedures because he did not have proper paperwork, Mr Haskell replied, “No, they have not asked me to help them at all. I asked the FBI to let me see the video tape, and I have heard nothing back. I only want to see a two-minute section of the tape. Until they can show me the tape, I will stick to my story. “
“I don’t understand. This was an act of terrorism. I was on that plane. I was the one being terrorized; I am a victim of this act. And yet, they are trying to discredit me, but they have not shown me the evidence proving I was wrong. I know exactly when I saw what I saw. If they would just let me see the video we could get to the truth. “
It appears that Mr. Haskell has no real motive or agenda in all of this. He is an example of a citizen speaking out and attempting to aid in the investigation of this serious security breach at the Amsterdam Airport. Instead of being lauded for his courage and efforts, he is being shut-out and rebuked.
In the spirit of openness and transparency, what is the harm in letting Mr. Haskell view the video tape so this matter can be cleared up?

This eye witness is actually talking about a seperate incident. Coincidentally, this was also a Northwest/Delta flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day which landed before the Nigerian terrorist flight. The man was screaming pro-Afghanistan and anti-American sentiments while throwing food and he was arrested.
If you search Google News you can see lots of articles attributing the "screaming about Afghanistan" quote to the Nigerian terrorist, yet no one has corrected the mistake.

This is called liberalism. You see, the person making this charge indicated that the unknown aide was claiming the terrorist was from Sudan, a country undergoing radical internal struggles and creating many refugees. These people are otherwise known as "Legal Immigrants" to our liberal establishment.
So, the theory here is that the unknown aide was purporting that the terrorist had no passport since he was basically a refugee (not a Nigerian terrorist) but there has apparently been a practice of allowing such refugees to gain entry to the U.S. via international air travel. We just feel sorry for them, screw our air safety.

I understood that the guy with the terrorist was a Dutch or Northwest airport/airline worker because he said, "WE do this all the time." It would not have been another terrorist using the word 'we'. The airport, with hindsight, having made the mistake of helping a terrorist aboard, would deny having done so. How to avoid boarding suicide bombers at airports: Require all those boarding aircraft to be totally naked. Then fly their baggage on a separate plane using remote control techniques. Allow the passengers to access clothing at the destination after baggage is proven safe. Arrest those who are left naked.
Do NOT vary rules for anyone, especially diplomats or couriers. To be fair, crews should also fly nude.

Most likely, they are lying and concealing because it is difficult to claim the guy acted "ALONE" when he had accomplices.
The only other possible scenario is that they are doing with the "man in the orange suit" what they should have done with the bomber – trying to get information, instead of prosecuting him in court.

I think Kurt Haskell has some explaining to do. The Passport Clearance procedure isn't done at the boarding gate where he presumably claims he witnessed a well dressed Indian gentleman help the Terrorist aboard, but at the checkin counter with the airline security staff. Airlines are fined by the government for allowing passengers without a legitimate passport entry into the country, they're also obligated to fly the passenger back if their entry is denied. It is also in the airlines best interest to keep would be terrorists from blowing their precious aircraft, employees and passengers up. Either way, there is a major inconsistency in Haskell's story because he claims he overheard somebody helping the kid on at the boarding gate, where these things are not generally worked out.
And government officials wonder why there are so many citizens who don't believe a rotten word they say? Seems like the public should not be so quick to dismiss "conspiracy theories."

I am 43 years old and specifically remember the authorities looking for "John Doe #2" the morning of the Oklahoma City bombings. It was on all the television stations. And John Doe was Middle Eastern or Mediterranean looking, not Terry Nichols. The next day, nothing. Never heard about John Doe #2 again. Mr. Haskell must be hallucinating the way I was back then.

TSA – Security – Airport screening – catching attempted airline bombers.
I offer this very simple solution. Bombs cannot be "made" on the aircraft without liquid accelerants. TSA needs to form two types of screening. One for passenengers without any carry on liquids and one for passengers with carry on liquids. Passengers with carry on liquids should be subject to a $10 TSA Screening Fee. Then, every single liquid should be taken out of the carry on and independantly verified it is acceptable. Make an exception for baby formula only. There is NO REASON to carry liquids on an aircraft when the bag can be checked. You cannot make a bomb with the liquids availalbe on an aircraft. SPend the TIME and RESOURCES looking for bbomb making material. Separate the "hay from the needle" by segregating passengers without ANY liquids or carry ons.

In the last 20 years, if one reflects back, there has simply been too much unexplained strange shit, that has never been adequately explained. Clinton had already one World Trade Center terrorist disaster on his watch. To have another one, in the heartland, was more than he could bear.

A second person from the same christmas day flight was arrested, but 2 days after the failed bomber was arrested. It was a short one liner text section reported on CNN. This must be the indian man the the amsterdam airport witness observed helping the terrorist onboard? No news can be found about this second arrest from the first plane incident.

No one seems to give any thought to the fact that the Haskells could be, you know, mistaken. Eye-witness testimony has been shown to be very unreliable. They see a "short black man" in the airport, then a "short black man" hustled away on the plane and figure it's the same guy but why are they deemed infallible, especially considering their state of mind on finding out that the second man had just tried to kill them and everyone else on board? As regards their undoubted conviction that they are correct, this is worthless in assessing their reliability; once people commit to a particular testimony it is virtually impossible to get them to admit error.
BTW, he HAD a passport. He traveled under his own name; the Nigerians did not impound his passport. Anyway if AQ went to all the trouble to equip him as a suicide operative they would have made sure he had correct papers: a bomb up his ass is no good if that ass isn't on a jetliner.
Why are you so committed to the Haskells? Can you personally vouch for their integrity, veracity, reliability, common sense, observational skills, powers of recall? Or is it just that what they're saying is congenial to your own world view? Assessing their reliability is a judgment call based on objective personal interaction. Assessing the truth of their observations involves investigating the facts of the situation. This isn't about political opinions it's about what actually happened in the real world. Since none of us knows them and none of us knows all the facts, none of us is in a position to definitively make a judgment based on anything other than our personal intelligence, experience and common sense. On these grounds it is at least as sensible to believe this brouhaha to be based on mistaken identity rather than a transatlantic inter-governmental, multi-agency cover-up. Of course, governments and their agencies cover things up but random travelers caught up in dramatic, life-threatening events can also get things wrong and when the limelight is directed upon them can begin to enjoy their fifteen minutes of Warholian fame.
I have no particular knowledge which would enable me to pronounce on the
Haskells' individual credibility, aside from the rather obvious issue as
to why on earth anyone would make such a story up.
But I have very good evidence on which to base a preliminary distrust of
the Dutch government on Islamist questions, since they have maintained a
policy of supine appeasement towards their Muslim colonizers for years,
going so far as to prosecute one MP, Geert Wilders, and run another out of
the country, Ayan Hirsi Ali, simply because they offended the
perpetually-offended Followers of Mahound. And I suppose it goes without
saying that anything that emanates from the Obama administration is
presumptively a lie until proven otherwise.
My point is not that the Haskells made the story up – tho' that remains a possibility – but rather that they were mistaken in their identification of Abdul Mutallab as the same man they saw in the airport , a more than likely explanation, especially as they never saw either man before and had no direct contact with either except in the second case under extremely frightening circumstances. Their sticking to the story and dramatizing their involvement is something to which many people are prone in much less remarkable situations than this.
This is essentially an Occam's Razor argument I'm making. I agree that, like a stopped clock, the Obama administration tells the truth merely as a result of unavoidable coincidence and that the Dutch, like all Western Democracies, are appallingly spineless in the face even of Islamic coat-trailing not to mention terror, however in the absence of a shred of corroboration for the Haskell story it is still impossible to reasonably make the leap that the scenario they lay out is in fact true – unless one is motivated by the hope that it is so in order to further damage Obama's already dilapidated credibility.

They've admitted there was a sharp dressed man after all today… buried at the bottom of a relatively unrelated story… "Federal agents also tell ABCNews.com they are attempting to identify a man who passengers said helped Abdulmutallab change planes for Detroit when he landed in Amsterdam from Lagos, Nigeria. Authorities had initially discounted the passenger accounts, but the agents say there is a growing belief the man have played a role to make sure Abdulmutallab "did not get cold feet."
