Executive Order: International Police Granted Full Immunity in US and Not Subject to FOIA Requests
by Larry O'ConnorIn 1983, President Ronald Reagan issued an Executive Order which gave permission to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) to operate within the boundaries of the United States. Reagan’s EO put INTERPOL under the same basic guidelines as the CIA, FBI, ATF and other Federal law enforcement agencies.
Two weeks ago, without any announcement, debate, discussion or inquiry from journalists charged with “speaking truth to power” President Obama issued an amendment to this EO. The amendment removed part of Reagan’s order that kept INTERPOL from having full diplomatic immunity while operating within the United States. In other words: Under Reagan and right up until two weeks ago, INTERPOL was authorized to operate within the USA but they did not have full diplomatic immunity and had to adhere to certain laws set forth for investigative agencies. Laws that prohibit authorities from violating our constitutionally protected rights.
This story has begun to make the rounds at some other blogs and web sites. Some scream about the on-set of the New World Order, some merely question the timing, motives and logic behind such a move while we are still fighting foreign wars and under threat of attack from Al Qaeda and other international terrorist bodies. I certainly don’t walk down the New World Order/One World Government path, I don’t look good in tin-foil hats… but, I do wonder why this move was made so quietly and why the White House Press Corps has not made any hay about it.
I also wonder why my friends on the left, who screamed from the rooftops about phone companies conducting analysis of phone calls made from the US to known over-seas terrorists, about members of the Saudi family being allowed to leave the country in the days following 9/11, about the EVILS of the Patriot Act and how it would lead to the stripping of basic civil rights to anyone checking out a book in a library. I wonder how they feel about the President granting permission to an international organization to operate within our borders under full diplomatic immunity.
One other tasty tidbit: Due to the amended language created by President Obama, INTERPOL is now, no longer subject to Freedom of Information Act Inquiries.
I wonder if during his vacation in Hawaii if one of the intrepid reporters could ask the President:
“Mr. President, is it true that due to your amendment to Executive Order 12425, INTERPOL may break into a home without a warrant, seize private property of a US citizen, hold a citizen for questioning without the right of legal representation and not be subject to any legal or criminal repercussion?”

I read about this last week .. this amendment was signed into law on Dec 17th. Main stream wont touch it, I havent even seen Beck or Hannity say peep about it either. It needs to go mainstream and fast. The fact that interpol can kick in someones door an answer to noone is very frightning

Chilling. What's so scary is the muted sound of crickets about this act. Where's the outrage? Surely tax-paying, law abiding Americams deserve clarification and some details about the reasons for this immunity. Given liberals lack of concern for individual rights versus collective rights, it's fair to question this order and it's potential for abuse.
Where are the attorneys to challenge all these things going on? They all can't be liberals, there have got to be some common sense folks out there in the legal field that have a problem with this, signing away our sovereignty, let alone the rest of the garbage coming out of DC. Agree about the tin foil hats. I honestly don't know why people are so willing to deny their own minds! The worst that can happen is that one must admit to being wrong about something. On the other hand, if one isn't wrong, one is forewarned and able to warn others to imminent danger. It seems people are too concerned about what others think about them to believe their own "spider sense". We have intuition for a reason.

We've been twittering about this all week long, and no one from any news organization has touched this story. Jake Tapper asked a couple of questions about it to the WH and was ignored, then after that, Tapper wrote a fluff piece saying this was no big deal. Tapper is a closet commie like the rest of the news agencies are. I'll be very disappointed if Beck, O'Riely or Hannity don't cover this story. If they don't, we'll know that they are going along with this agenda also and can't be trusted.

I think Axelrod/Emanuel/Obama's primary motivation is to open the door for the "world court" to go after the Bush Administration as an alleged war criminal. I think they really don't care that it subjugates us all to an aspect of global governance in the process, because it is entirely consistent for them to go after what they immediately want without considering future ramifications to US citizans.
Great story- now let's see if the media reports on it. While the country, and myself included, have been paying attention to the health-care, Obama has been cutting a "hole" in our system so the UN can police us. I think it was Beck that said it, always watch what the other hand is doing- its never what is out front in the light, its what is happening in the dark.

The big danger here is that we all know this is illegal by way of common sense. Counting on a judge to understand common sense or to even be familiar with the constitution and the individual liberties it is supposed to protect is a huge gamble. What twisted logic or reason in an executive order could permit a foreign agent to violate Constitutionally protected individual rights of American citizens on our own soil. If our own government can't do it, it follows that it can't allow any other entity to do it legally either. Some crucial detail is missing in this story. Even still, this is a frightening story.

Our constitution applies to the people and the govt, in this country. I think you're both right. Obie is ready to rule a one world government if he submits the US to one world order. The timing is convenient because it's before KSM and his ilk go on trial in NYC, which as we all know is a show trial aimed at putting the Bush administration and the CIA on trial with punishment doled out by the world court. Additionally, our military will now fall under the jurisdiction of the world court, especially if their loyalty during one of Obie's crises turns out to be to the Constitution instead of to him.

If he loses the Congress and there is a demand to see his birth certificate and other possibly incriminating documents, Interpol will just apply the screws to the inquiring parties. c'mon now fonz – while I agree that defending Bush is misplaced here.. the Huffington Post is hardly a credible source to offer. The fact that Bush's motives may have been more sincere does not remove the fact that he set precident that provides a method and facilities for less well intended motives.This is why civic duty number 1 is the view government and it's officials with great skepticism and err on the side of preserving liberties every time.
