Calif. Attorney General Offers Incoherent, Troubling Answers When Asked About ACORN Doc Dump

Instead, Attorney General Brown offered a rambling and somewhat troubling political answer to a question of law and justice.

Attorney General Brown cites a poll which claims that 52% of Republicans think ACORN stole the election for Obama. The full results of this poll of 1,006 voters can be downloaded here.
Why is this poll and its results relevant to your investigation of ACORN and of this latest news that the office you announced you would be investigating trashed over 20,000 documents in the dark of night right before your investigators came down to visit?
Why does an opinion poll even enter into the discussion during the first minute of the Attorney General’s interview about an ongoing investigation?
And, why is more time spent in this interview on the constitutional rights of ACORN with regard to their trash and speculation over who hired Private Investigator Derrick Roach, instead of the activities of this ACORN office?
Mr. Brown, if this is how you conduct yourself as the chief law enforcement officer for the State of California, how seriously will you conduct your duties as Governor? (Probably about as seriously as you did the first time you served)

Apparently, in California v. Greenwood the CA state supreme court found an expectation of privacy in your trash but the US Supreme Court overturned this ruling. Isn't Jerry Brown a lawyer -as Attn Gen shouldn't he know this stuff or at least have a clue?
One can only hope that Californians learned their lesson LAST time he was Gov – but then he was elected to the Attn Gen position, so maybe not…

I met Jerry Brown about 18 or so years ago when I worked at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland and he was leading a demonstration against Kaiser's proposal to build a new hospital in neighboring Emeryville. The demonstration was about "keeping jobs in Oakland", but it was really about not wanting poor sick people wandering amid the luxury condos by SF Bay that Brown and his yuppie friends owned. He later became mayor of Oakland before becoming AG.
So it looks like Governor/Mayor/Attorney General/Governor Moonbeam.

The Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer in the state. I don't care if 100% of republicans thought ACORN stole the election for Obama, the law is the law. And if the law has been broken, it is up to the attorney general to investigate and prosecute if warranted. I feel bad for you Californians but the same mentality is creeping across the whole country.
I agree with you. I don't know anything about moonbeam. I live in Oklahoma, so I haven't really followed his career. So, you will forgive my confusion when I don't see the connection with oil.
ACORN is going down fast. They have lost a great deal of supporters in the Bay Area and that is one cash cow for them. The bad news is that a government lawyer has just made remarks to the NY Times that they will be getting back their funding very soon. Jerry Brown is just one corrupt AG that will not prosecute ACORN and this is a problem. A problem for them at least. Remember when Bush tried to replace these AGs and there was a huge investigation, the next president now has a great excuse for removing these corrupt AGs and the Democrats will hardly want to bring up the reason they are being released because it would bring up painful wounds of ACORN by that time so they will have to allow the release of these AGs.

I know for a fact….that the federal govt. requires contractors ro sign documents that all personnel, are responsiible for keeping personal information such as SSN, DL #, address, birthdate, etc etc..to protect from any potential identity theft…or suffer legal consequences of fines and jailtime. So what is it Mr. Brown does not understand??? The reason there is a trash law in CA is that so many judges, lawyers and an ex-goveror,ex-mayor and soon to be ex-attorney general who toke up several times a day. They need to protect themselves and their suppliers from the narcs, who use to make a lot of good arrests, from snooping through their garbage.
You must also remember that ACORN is affiliated with the Democrats and that whole organized crime element in Washington.

Someone should explain to Jerry that the US Supreme Court held that warrantless collection of trash left on the curb doesn't violate one's 4th Amendment rights- AND that businesses have no expectancy of privacy in their trash or dumpsters.
