Why Are We Discussing Racism?
by Star ParkerCan anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?

According to Gallup polling of last week, the issues most on the minds of Americans are the economy and jobs followed by dissatisfaction with all aspects of government.
I didn’t notice racism on the list anywhere.
The NAACP says it was “snookered” by Fox News on the Shirley Sherrod story. I say we’ve all been snookered by the NAACP.
The NAACP has shown that those who have written this organization off as irrelevant are wrong. It demonstrated this past week that if it so chooses it can dominate the national discussion with its racial agenda, regardless of what the real pressing issues of national concern may be.
The accusation about Tea Party racism is ridiculous. But even if you don’t think it’s ridiculous, is this the discussion we need to be having when national unemployment hovers at ten percent, and when black unemployment is closer to 15%, double that of whites?
Now, of course, we should be talking about racism if this is what is driving black unemployment. But is it?
I don’t think so. Nor do most blacks.
In January of this year, well into our recession, and well into the emergence of the Tea Party movement, the Pew Research Center surveyed black attitudes.
In answer to the question, “When blacks don’t make progress, who or what is to blame?”, 52% of blacks responded that “blacks” themselves are “mostly responsible”, and 34% said “racism.” This is the reverse of how blacks responded to this question just 15 years ago, when 56% said that racism was the impediment to black progress.
In the same survey, blacks responded almost identically as whites to the question of whether success in life is “determined by forces beyond one’s control” or whether “everyone has the power to succeed.”
Seventy seven percent of blacks and 82% of whites said that “everyone has the power to succeed” and 16% of blacks and 12% whites said success is “determined by forces beyond one’s control.”
And when blacks were asked in this same survey about the main problems facing black families, the response was overwhelmingly exactly the same as the general result of the Gallup poll of last week. Jobs.
So, Americans of all colors today generally feel responsible for their own lives and the main concern of most is the sick state of our economy.
So let’s have that discussion.
Clearly, there are differences of opinion about how to light a fire under this economy and the role of government. Some think government is the answer. Some think it’s the problem. But this is a difference of opinion about how the world works. Why are we talking about racism?
Racism is about people being persecuted and endangered because of their color. It’s about not be treated equally under the law or denied access to public facilities or work because of one’s color.
Fortunately, those ugly days are behind us. And aside from the political and legal truths that verify this, black attitudes themselves, as the Pew data bears out, support it. And, if we need further verification, sitting in the White House is a black man who is there with the help of 43% of the votes of white Americans.
Talk about racism may help employment for those in the race business. But it has little relevance to getting the American economy working again, which is what we should be single mindedly focused on.
And allowing race to become the focus of public discourse shuts out the very message that blacks need to hear. That they are disproportionately hurt by a recession being prolonged by excessive government growth and interference.

We SHOULD be discussing eCongress to relocate US Congress back to our local districts to securely telecommute for 75% of their terms to increase voter access, reduce lobbyist influence, and dramatically reduce these kinds of worthless distractions from major problems. http://econgressnow.com
The left is trying to establish a narrative that conservative news sources are racist, and doing it by the long established practices of propaganda, 'say it often enough and people will believe it.
This is a precursor to the government taking action to gain more control over the media, with the ultimate purpose of stifling voices of dissent.
The progressive cannot win the debate for limited government based on fact or historical reference, so they defer to discredit the witness, We The People. Just what any lawyer would do when there is no other way to win the case.
The ruling class main stream media is driving these racism charges. They would love to see a race war! Obama has set race relations back fifty years. I think it is by design, to pit one group against another. Star is right on with her statistics. Good luck Star on your congressional run!
"Can anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?"
Yes, we can–the November elections are looming and keeping race issues in the forefront has served this Administration well in prolonging their death-grip on this country. With an uncomfortably obscure political future ahead this Fall (a Bleak House, as it were), why would Obama and the Democrats abandon the 'race-card' strategy now when they need it most?
All of this 'race baiting' is nothing more than a distraction for this socialists regime…per Alinsky….Everyone in Washington is guilty of encouraging this nonsense!!
Unfortunately the left's media and politicians use race issues constantly either to smear their opposition, or pander to potential voters.
They keep raising the issue because it's impossible to prove or disprove, all you have to do is say it enough that hopefully some people will agree or feel guilty enough to shy away from their targets. In a game where a few percentage points matter, they will do it every time an opportunity arises.
It doesn't have much to do with the general public's beliefs, it's all propaganda of the lefty politicians and race baiting activist groups that know they need divisiveness if they ever want to turn the U.S. into a full blown Socialist state.
Until people on the left start calling their own out for the foolishness, it will continue.
"Can anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?"
Election time. Favorite talking points by race baiting democratic establishment and their political hacks in the media.
Star, I believe the baseless accusations against the Tea Party Movement from the NAACP goes much, much deeper than the NAACP's make believe world of made up racial hate words. I'm still waiting for a reasonable explanation as regards this image from the NAACP's web site: http://i29.tinypic.com/2mesl8j.jpg of just what/who an "NAACP American" is, compared to a member of the "Tea Party Movement."
NOVEMBER, VOTE THE DIRTY COMMIE RATS OUT
I've watched the full speech, and a lot is very admirable, where she discusses the evolution of her thinking, but around the 23 minute mark things get nasty. She makes it clear what she thinks of President Bush and the Tea Parties. In a wonderful bit of irony, the case Ms. Sherrod refers to (Screws vs. United States), where the murderer of her father was let off by the Supreme Court, was decided by 4 justices appointed by FDR. Roosevelt needed the support of Southern Democrats for his New Deal programs, and had decided not to push for anti-lynching legislation that might threaten his agenda. It also impacted his Supreme Court appointments. These were the 4 justices who decided that case:
Justice Black, appointed by FDR in 1937
Justice Reed, appointed by FDR in 1938
Justice Douglas, appointed by FDR in 1939.
Chief Justice Stone, appointed by FDR in 1941. So who is she blaming?
Why is race the hot topic?
Because that's what the Left wants to talk about.
What does the Left NOT want to talk about?
Jobs. The economy. Energy. The Iranian nuclear program. Out-of-control spending. States teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. Corrupt public officials. Islamic terrorism.
Please add your favorite topic here …
Star, you are right on the money! Let the left scream to itself about race, and the rest of us move on to repairing our government and economy.
It's call the Bigfoot strategy. As in "Look over there! It's a Bigfoot!"
We're rehashing race issues because the Dems cannot fix the economy or help the average voter. It's a distraction to keep the spotlight off of failures of the progressive agenda. If the current crop politicians have to run on their accomplishments they know they're going to loose BIG TIME, hence the new race problems we have in America.
The real tragedy here is that any VALID race problems will now be disregarded. Cry wolf too many times and nobody takes you seriously.
No need to post anything else. You hit it on the head.
With the impending juggernaut of November elections, the left is desperate to obfuscate the true issues. We are talking about racism simply because the left needs voters, not because there is a massive race problem.
Your article is correct in that the real issues are about jobs, and that the fact Government has gotten too big for it's britches. Obama has gone back to his roots as a community organizing rabble rouser. But that only works in a smaller area like Chicago. He is trying his best at every turn to stir up racial problems to cover his real agenda of radical Marxism. The border issue is another good example of how Obama is fanning the flames, or creating the crisis to get his agenda by everyone. This is very dangerous and all of this takes us back to the sixties with the racial problems. It is the left that has raised these issues and hurled them at the Tea Party people who ironically have many blacks that support what they are about. And the media have not proven that the black race baiting Congressmen were called a racial slurs to this day.
Very astute question! The reason we are talking about Racism is because the White House needs a distraction from the laws they broke in the Blago case.
Race is the issue because Obama's ratings are dropping to all time lows. What better way to be off the topics of importance like job creation, oil spills, mid-term elections (that don't look good for Dems), and all the outrageous bills passed by him and the dems in congress? Hmmm, I know, let's talk about race. I cannot remember when race has been such an issue in all of my life. Honestly, until he came into office, it seems like anyone who disagress with him is a racist. How does he think he got elected? It was not just the black population of voters who put him in office. I wish he would remember that every once in a while!
It's a "Hot Topic" because this president and those in power want to divide and conquer. It can be used as leverage to keep us off topic.
I'm sure they all feel Bush was behind all these discussions on racism.
This is a ploy from the left ,when it looks bleak for their futures, and jobs. They have always used race to energize their base. It really is quite pathetic, and totally irresponsible, and should face the wrath of the voters, for even daring to kick people when they are down. How dare these incompetent fools try to divide, us and insight us with no clear direction or vision for the people to rally behind. We deserve a uniter, not a divider. The mid nineties was not a Republican revolution, it was actually a Conservative revolution with fiscally responsible represitives, and freedom loving Americans.

"That they are disproportionately hurt by a recession being prolonged by excessive government growth and interference."
Ms Parker…why can't the politicians understand that this is the discussion needed? You and I got it…why can't they?
The foundation of racism and the smear of racism is the imposition of opinion and will.
The bogus smear of racism is being repeated on a daily basis against the TEA Party as a whole in order to empower the powerful to impose their will upon you.
They will repeat the bogus charge until either you start to agree with them or they convince enough useful idiots that the charges are true.
2 plus 2 equals 5….. see also George Orwell and Josef Goebels…
Remember these things the next time you encounter a troll here on the Big's that goes out of their way to label you as racist.
The charge of racism only has power and import when you give them the power to impose it upon you.
Do the right thing, flag them down, report them if needed and then walk away.
Don't play their pure power propaganda games.
Racism ended when we elected a black president,Star. Someone please tell socialists/Dems/Progress/ACORN/
Dems/ Progress/ACORN/naacp/ blackpanthers/Unions/lib professors/environmentalists/and all race baiters! Find a new reason to ignore reality. This administration loves racism. It keeps them in control.
Thanks Star. Enjoy you on Fox. All the best
There's nothing else for Barry and his wipers to discuss. No fix for jobs. No fix for the economy. Oil isn't spilling anymore.
According to polls you posted, the progressive is slowing losing black votes. Soon the Dems will too, if they don't keep "discussing" race.
1) For the Socialist Revolution to be successfully started there has to be a suppressed or perceived suppressed class, whether it be a social stratus or on racial bias, to rally in support and take to the streets and give a cause. The Republicans did this successfully during the Civil War. The Democrats and Progressives/Liberals have been trying to do this ever since, with, if not failure, minor victories.
2) Blaming Fox is just part of the narrative. They didn't report on the story until after the NAACP condemned her and after the Admin. "asked for her resignation" and when they did, they took a neutral or supported her side so blaming Fox on this is asinine but what else would you expect for any of them.
It all start one day back in 2008 with a group of Journolisters and has now exploded because nov 2nd is right around the corner and these slime think it will help deflect the light away from whats real,Bigger Government,More Taxes,Less Freedom. We are T axed E nough A ready, and the PARTY is fighting back.
Race is all they got. It won't work this time because if they say now that people are against Obama because of race, the can't avoid the implication that they were for him because of race, not because he was the messiah come to save us.
"It was not just the black population of voters who put him in office. I wish he would remember that every once in a while! "
Of course he won't give white people credit….he had too many dead people, pets, and cartoon characters to give credit to.
Race is being discussed because it's the only card the liberals have left. They can't win with logic on any issue, so they must resort to lies, attacks and diversions. It's egotistical immaturity at best and despicable evil at worst.
Thank You Starr,
Racism is a side show to distract the nation. Now that we have the oil spill in the gulf under control, we need to send the skimmer boats to the Potomac. There is way too much slime eminating from the house of government.
mao,alinsky,stern,obama,sherrod,holder,gore.clinton (m/f),kagan,marx,sharpton,jackson,racists? YES !!!! i smell a soros.
the soros is hitting the fan.
I don't watch conservative news so I can't speak to whether it is inherently racist, but you can't deny that the Sherrod video was released and promoted by Breitbart and FOX news. Why was it released? To support the claim that the Obama administration is racist. It was not aired in its entirety and no effort went into finding out whether there was more to the story.
There may not have been a racist intent behind this story and others like it, but there is a definite agenda, which is an attempt to prove racism in the administration. In this case, then, the discussion about racism is being pushed by the Right, not the Left. If the discussion about racism blows up in your face, you're right to stop talking about it. It is indeed a non-issue.
As to your paranoia about the government taking over the media, why would they do that knowing someday they won't be in power anymore and theirs will be the voice stifled?
Star:
We have seen from this White House Nixonian tendencies and, it would appear, a burning anger and resentment toward its critics. Whether it's Fox News, the Chamber of Commerce, or companies that sponsor reports that take issue with the administration's assessments, there seems to be a cast of mind that views critics as enemies, as individuals and institutions that need to be ridiculed, delegitimized, or ruined. Given the administration's brazen public statements, one can only imagine what is being said privately, behind closed doors, as strategies are plotted and put into effect. Certainly, it can be argued we see the underpinnings of this tendency with an examination of the journOlist e-mail list. That's a strong indicator in my book and fits right in line with this administration.
Obama is showing a fondness for intimidation tactics that might work well in the wards of Chicago but that don't have a place in the most important and revered political institution in America. To see these impulses manifest themselves so early in Obama's presidency, and given all that he has said to the contrary, is rather startling. There need to be, in short, people who care about character. I've not seen this from Obama – who ran his campaign on a platform of bringing unity. All, apparently, a ruse.
And who is the witness?
Thank you Ms. parker for you comments. You have restored a bit of sanity and hope that I was looking for this morning.
As I said above, the Sherrod story was broken by the Right, not the Left.
The reason democrats/liberals are screaming racist! is because they want to distract from Hussein's failed presidency and pitiful leadership. It's line 1 page 1 in the democrat 1 page playbook.
When I look at you Star Parker, I see a human being first and then a fellow American. If your behavior was unethical and I got pissed off with you, would I be classified as a racist? Do I get pissed off with the Black Panther rant about killing "crackers". You bet I do and people like those working for Obama are the ones that are fomenting all the problems.
People like Sherrod who gain sympathy and spew that Fox News is racist are employing the good ole' "I have been discriminated against" ONCE again. This really does not help. I can go on and on but we all know this political ploy is old and the country is sick and tired of hearing about it.
Too much crying "wolf".
Parker: "Can anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?"
Well, let's see if I can help. You might start by considering the possibility that there's a concerted effort on the right to stir up the rubes enough to get them to the polls in November.
Smoking much crack lately?
We The People
Off Topic. Congressman Tom Tancredo has asked for the impeachment of Obama. Just on Fox News.
Maybe we should focus our economy on colonizing space, where we won't have to listen to these particular politicians.
http://colonize.wordpress.com/
One great part of this plan is: there's plenty of work to do to make space colonization possible. That means jobs, public and private jobs alike. Why leave people in unemployment or otherwise idle. There's plenty of work to get to the top!
"Can anyone tell me why suddenly race is the hot topic of national discourse?"
Why yes; yes I can.
The Democrats are about to be shellacked in the mid-term elections, and they want to shift the debate away from the real issues you mentioned… because they know they will lose any real debate on the merits of argument.
It's jobs that are on people's mind all right. I work in a university and so many of my students are fearful that there aren't going to be any jobs for them after they graduate. I feel for them. Sadly, most of them turned off their BS detectors and voted for Obama. They were blinded by the hopey/changey fog.
Look up NetrootsNation. Nancy Pelosi works with this group to reach out across the Internet (trolls?) Progressive bloggers. Do you think they would squash racism? or fan the flames of racism on blogs? you decide?
They're having a Convention in Las Vegas. They're complaining that the Administration is not liberal enough.
Rightonline.com is the "right" group of bloggers. They're having a Convention there too.
Easy. This is a power grab.
1. Paint the Tea Party as racist.
2.Get the NAACP and their followers up in arms.
3. Riots.
4. A terrorist act that can be blamed on the Tea Party.
5.Declare a National Emergency, and suspend the October elections.
6. The executive in now a dictator.
Far fetched? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichstag_fire Read history, it will not be the first time.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
~ Martin Luther King, Jr. ~
This is Kryptonite to men of low character who seek power, wealth and influence. Obama had it all, never before has a black man been in such a position to place a dagger in the heart of remaining bigotry and prejudices. He has squandered it. He has dashed hopes. He has dishonored MLK, and set back progress of reaching that dream. Damn him.
First you would need to gain control of Congress (as in people not a particular political party) to make sure they will genuinely commit to such an effort instead of paying lip service and funneling the money off to special interests. http://econgressnow.com
You all seem unreasonably paranoid to me. There is no Marxist/Socialist/Communist agenda. If there was, I'd surely know about it because I'm about as liberal as they come.
The Left would like a bit of a safety net to catch people when they fall and a little more income equality to lift up those who struggle daily but cannot do it themselves. You may disagree with these goals because of some belief about personal responsibility, but there is nothing inherently evil in what we're trying to achieve. We're not talking about taking people's rights away. I keep asking my conservative friends for an example of a freedom that has been taken away but I've yet to receive one. Remember, freedoms can't be withdrawn only from the Right…if they're taken from you, they're taken from me. I don't want that. This is an amazing country; I and all my liberal pinko friends value the same freedoms you do.
We are all Americans. We all stand to lose if tyranny takes root. Obama is to the right of me, but I believe he's doing what he thinks is right and I support him in most of his decisions. Is he perfect? No, of course not. But your fears are completely unfounded and, personally, I think they're just a little crazy.
Am I We The People too?
Hi Star. You are fantastic. This Tea Partier put her money where her racisim does not exist. I sent you a donation and wish you the best of luck against your opponents.
You mean like when the NAACP labeled the entire tea party with a broad brush stroke as racist? When janeane garofalo said any disagreement with Obama was flat out racism? When elements on the left have repeatedly accuse people who disagree with them as racist when no such action has occurred?
34% is still a very big percentage who blame racism for their troubles. This is a result of disinformation and the Democrat's use of the race card.
Why are we talking about race? Because the Obama administration and his collaborators in the MSM have doubled down, trying to silence all critics and challengers. It worked with McCain, didn't it? They will make this discussion as ugly as possible, but it needs to be had. The important thing is for the right to keep cool heads, use plain, inclusive rhetoric and to make statements they can stand by.
The Democrats are dependent on racial disharmony. Every time it starts going away they bring it back. It's been their favorite weapon since they were lynching people, blocking schools and outlining Jim Crow laws.
well as I remember, the NAACP made the accusation that the tea party had racist members that need to be cast out or something to that effect…
Why is it about racism now? Because that's the new car keys. Watch the shiny car keys folks.
Only you can answer that question.
It seems that this fake document was created very recently in response to the invasion of latinos into our country and should be disregarded entirely.
In honor of a very beautiful summer day in July, I'll give you a list of freedoms that have been withdrawn during my own lifetime…..
Can't take my dog on the beach.
Can't pick up the shells at the beach.
Can't drive a 4 wheeler at the beach.
Can't have a gathering of more than 10 people at the beach without paying for a permit.
Can't set up a volleyball net at the beach
Can't smoke on the beach.
Can't drink a beer at the beach.
Can't have a bonfire at the beach.
Can't feed the birds at the beach.
Can't load or unload a boat at the beach.
This is just off the top of my head, I'm sure I could come up with more if I thought a few more minutes. My point, almost every aspect of our lives are regulated by the government. You tell me we have freedom?
I was sure dissapointed when I found out Mickey voted for our dear leader…..I could understand Goofy….
http://www.starparkerforcongress.com/
I'm rooting for you, Ms. Parker. We need people like you in government.
Nice! It only took a few days for Breitbart to find a black person willing to sell out to defend him. Great job!
Please define "rubes."
Or rather, please select from one of the following:
1. Blacks the democrats want riled up enough to go to the polls; or,
2. Conservatives the republicans want riled up enough to go to the polls.
One man's "rube" is another's brother-in-arms.
The troll count is rising. A sure indication that the left's anxiety is rising. Good. When November passes, they'll be wondering why they wasted such a golden opportunity to build a bigger tent by trying to cram down the throats of most of us stuff we do not want.
Ms. Parker: With all due respect, we're discussing racism; the left is screaming it.
I thought a bit more about this and have three questions. As I do not know your stance as far as how you believe when it comes to this issue. This may help me understand.
Do you believe the constitution means what it says and there is no room for modification or distortion?
Do you believe that those who would wish to change its language are enemies of our constitutional republic?
Do you believe that the oath to defend the constitution is sacred?
If you answer in the affirmative then the answer is yes.
Hogwash. You're telling me that you're a wealth redistributor and everyone is entitled to a piece whether they've earned it or not. Do you not understand that collectivism is the same thing as communism? Look, if you want a safety net the best way to obtain that is to earn a education and become the best that you can be in whatever chosen field you desire. The opportunities are endless. Yeah, it's always good to dream. Sometimes I want to be a NBA player making 10M a year but I can't dribble worth a crap. Your goods and services becomes your market and the best course for achievement is through your hard work, not that of a nanny state.
Starting with Breitbart and Fox News in this case. Wait, are those the socialists you speak of? Or do you just selectively use facts?
Well said. I also hope you realize, you could switch out the word "left" and put in "right" in your comment and it would be equally applicable. The question is, is that a truth you're able to accept, or is it really only the left that is flawed?
Even though this latest discourse on race was initiated by Breitbart and Fox News. Just because you want to ignore this fact doesn't mean it isn't real.
Liberals use other's money to spend on their favorites constituents while sheltering their money out of reach. Liberals are just F**KG hypocrites.
Star Parker for congress — she wrote this article and is currently running. Let's all chip in and help her beat a liberal democrat in a key pickup in California.
Star really is a great candidate and would are lucky and proud to have her here!! Go Star Parker
You missed the fact we're talking about race because Breitbart and Fox News initiated a smear campaign on a black employee of the USDA. Maybe you're right the Left would rather talk about race, but they aren't the ones that started this latest topic. So why does the right want to talk about race?
Heh. If I'm not mistaken, Star was "selling out," as you appear to define it, years before the Bigs were little more than a twinkle in Mr. Breitbart's eyes.
But your response is an answer, of sorts, to Star's question. We're talking about race, because that's the only hammer that the left has, and every issue looks like a nail.
…Breitbart to find a black person willing… (emphasis mine)
"Capitalism knows only one color: that color is green; all else is necessarily subservient to it, hence, race, gender and ethnicity cannot be considered within it."
Thomas Sowell
Are you stupid or just dumb? Who is the one that shouted Bigfoot? Breitbart and Fox News. I don't think those are allies of the Dems.
These are all local ordinances meant to, I assume, preserve some semblance of a beach for everyone to enjoy, not a bellwether of Marxist takeover. Besides, there have been conservative governments in power during your lifetime who could have restored these 'freedoms' (if they were not implemented by conservatives in the first place) but did not. Sorry, next contestant?
Racism keeps getting brought up because that seems to be the only way the WH will survive. They can't win an argument on merit so what's left?
Thank goodness Breitbart changed the subject to racism. Was it a favor to the White House? Maybe Andrew wants Blago's seat.
Breitbart is an Obama thug now? Breitbart is the one who put us on this topic.
Yeah, Bush made Breitbart do it!
1. Breitbart released the video as part of the ongoing narrative about the NAACP's hypocrasy in leveling it's broad and unsubstantiated charges of racism. Fox ran the story AFTER the woman was dismissed by the administration, so their reporting had nothing to do with the administrations knee-jerk damage control reaction.
2. The video released by Breitbart INCLUDED Sherrod's remarks on having reformed on her racist views. More to the point though areher remarks made after her claim to reform, one of which stated "You know, I haven’t seen such a mean-spirited people as I’ve seen lately over this issue of health care. Some of the racism we thought was buried. Didn’t it surface? Now, we endured eight years of the Bush’s and we didn’t do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black President. " She's pushing the false narrative that anyone who opposes this administrations policies HAS to be racist, the unspoken aspect being that no one can possibly find fault with those policies on any other grounds.
Breitbart has absolutely no history of racism or of making racist remarks–Sherrod can't make that claim, not even in jest. If she were wise, she'd keep her mouth closed, too, before someone shed's a brighter light on her.
Fox news is racist because they picked up the story? So did CNN, BBC and others. Please–the MSM has reduced itself to having less credibility than the tabloids, replete with derision.
3. You ought to look into statements made by some of Obama's czars about promoting 'fairness in the media' – when you read the details, it comes down to making it extremely difficult for opposing points of view to be aired. Put that together with 'net neutrality' (another bill who's name states the opposite of what it does), Frank Lloyd, FCC "Diversity Czar": "It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind references to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communications policies." Read some more of his quotes, if they don't trouble you, something is wrong…..
The left did a pretty good job using Breitbart and Fox News for this ploy. Why won't Breitbart reveal where he got the video? He doesn't want us to know it came from the Dems.
No one needs to try and divide us. Conservatives do a fine job of it already.
Star, great question….The only reason race is on the agenda, is the left is desperate, and
they bring out the race card every time they screw up………..
Income equality isn’t even remotely possible – We are not all "equal" is this country…we don’t all have an equal level of education (or dare I say intellect), we don’t all work equally hard at our jobs, we don’t all save, spend, and/ or budget our money equally or wisely, etc., etc., etc. As Sirpigs rightly pointed out – if you want a safety net then stay in school, earn an education, and work hard at whatever you do! Choose not to?? Your choice -but don’t expect the same outcomes as those who chose the above course and do not expect us to pay for a lifestyle that is not earned!!
I would add, it could help a lot too if the teabaggers carrying racist signs stopped.
I don't think the tea parties as a whole are racist, but there is no doubt a few members are. They ruin it for everyone. You're only as strong as your weakest link. Not unlike how Robert Byrd was used by the right to claim Democrats are racist.
Sure was nice of Breitbart and Fox to start the conversation on racism again for the Dems.
"Wealth redistributor", "collectivism", "communism". Nice. Look, I earn my money, just like you, but the fact is that there are people in this country who work just as hard as you and I do, much harder in fact, and have nothing to show for it. You argue that those people just need an education. Well, how do they pay for it? When do they have the time? What if they're not intelligent enough to complete an education (sad to say, but it happens)? What if something catastrophic has happened to them and they are physically, mentally or financially unable to go to school?
I'm all about personal responsibility, but it can only take you so far. You need to look outside your own personal circumstances and realize that there are all kinds of situations people find themselves in. There will always be people who try to game the system, this includes welfare mothers, farmers, bankers and politicians. This is a fair point of contention between Left and Right and your 'side' has valid arguments. But you're not going to convince anyone if all you can do is spout inflammatory buzzwords and try to vilify the other side for something no more evil than trying lift others up.
You all defend Breitbart like he's your lord and savior. The man's life mission is to incite hatred and divide people. He blatantly fabricated a story to make headlines and you still defend him. Just like that kid who edited the tapes of ACORN. Can you honestly tell me that Breitbart is beneficial member of society? In the same way you can't yell "fire" in a building, you shouldn't be able to create a bs story to further your own racist hateful agenda.
The racism charges are a tactical move by the Dims because they do NOT want to talk about the economy or jobs. They are failing on those and their palavers (like the NAACP) are providing cover using the racism cry.
Fortunately, people are waking up.
I love it. Its almost unanimous among commenters that we're talking about race because thats what the left wants to talk about so they can avoid talking about jobs and the economy, etc. Yet, this discussion started because of a smear job initiated by Breitbart and carried forth by right wing news/pundit outlets.
When did it become the principle of conservatives to hate facts so much? I'm guessing about the same time the fundamentalist religious nuts took it over.
Ok so what does Keith Olberman do? Seems he and Bill Maher and others do the same thing, stir up hatred and divide people. Do you read some of the Huffington Post articles? They are of the same nature.
Also on the idea of stirring up hatred, what about the NAACP's broad brush stroke comment that the tea party is a racist party? That's pretty insulting and untrue. How is that helping labeling and entire group racist that is comprised of 33% democrat and over 45% women?
Also according to your claim about yelling fire, if this is so then elements on the left ALSO cannot make wild accusations.
There is also no such thing as a requirement to be beneficial to society. That is incredibly subjective and undefinable. I think he's very beneficial to exposing left hypocrisy. You appear to be employing some sort of social contract argument which is a fallacy. There is not such thing as a social contract.
You are kidding, right? I think you can justify each and every imposition of, or dimunition of, all of our freedoms in such manner. Whether local, state or federal, you asked for examples of freedoms taken away, and each and every one I've listed is a restriction on a freedom we used to have. I don't care which branch or level of govt from which they come, I'm sick of overwhelming regulations of every aspect of our lives.
This was started by the NAACP's inaccurate blanket labeling of the tea party as a racist group. Breitbart didn't smear anyone unless you call showing a person actually admit they committed racism, laugh about it and not be punished for it as a smear.
When did it become the principle of progressives to hate facts so much? And you make a blanket statement again with the religious comments. I am atheist as well as probably a fair number of people here. I no more want special interest religious control of this country than special interest progressive control. I fight BOTH since I have experienced BOTH.
What some on the left and right are not understanding is there are other groups who don't buy into either ideology. It is NOT a false dichotomy of two teams. And the problem right now is the Left is imposing its special interest on others and PISSING US OFF!
Nice try. Go back and read his article, and you'll see that it was in response to the NAACP's accusations that the Tea Party was racist.
I could not of said it better my self. You my dear are a very smart woman.
Love the analogy.
