More Ridiculous Leftist Propaganda: The Chevy Volt Song… and Dance
by Seton MotleyWhat’s an absurd Leftist policy without an agitprop song to accompany the inanity?
The attempted spoonful-of-sugar to help force down the bad Progressive medicine they are pushing.
Which brings us to General Motors (GM) and one of the Leftist ideological windmills at which they tilt – the Chevy Volt.
We the Taxpayers have spent billions subsidizing the Volt. And continue subsidizing it still.
We bailed out GM ($50 billion) and Chrysler to the tune of $83 billion. On which the Obama Administration now admits we’ll lose (at least) $23.6 billion. (President Obama once upon a time promised us we’d actually make money on the deal.)
We the Taxpayers are still stuck holding 500 million shares of GM stock – on which we are poised to lose tens of billions of dollars more.
But you know what makes all of this terrible-ness so much less worse? GM spent some of our money on – the Chevy Volt official song and music video:
Don’t you feel better?
The GM-official “GMVolt” YouTube video page description of which reads as follows:
Chevrolet’s official Chevy Volt fun and educational song set to a historical collage of developments and progress as captured on the website GM-Volt.com.
“Educational” – like the aforementioned government elementary school songs are “educational.”
Now, a defense could be proffered that companies write songs and cut videos for advertising purposes all the time. Fine and true. That being said, this Volt song was (as far as I can find) never made into an actual ad.
GM’s official YouTube posting of it has only (as of this writing) 30,048 views. And it does not appear on the aforementioned GM-Volt.com’s video page.
The song is a total (if unintentional for GM) joke – and we get that it is. This is not the end of the world. It is just another ridiculous aspect of the ridiculous from-the-start Chevy Volt – and auto bailout.
And the joke gets worse.
At the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, GM also gave us – the Chevy Volt Dancers:
A troupe with a routine devised to accompany the Chevy Volt tune.
Just what every car company needs – a band with a floor show.
Do not attempt to operate heavy machinery for up to 24 hours after viewing either of these videos. If you’ve watched both, you may want to contact your physician.
—–
All of this is yet another reason to be thankful that We the People have spent nearly $60 billion propping up General Motors and subsidizing the Chevy Volt.
Don’t you feel thankful?

the chevy volt is the bastard child of the ford pinto and the yugo.
Yep, it's yet another stroke of government "genius:" They found a way to come up with a song that's actually worse than the car.
My ears… it burnsss…
I'm thankful not many are in actual use…for when there are and when they go to plug these puppies in to recharge, has anyone considered what to do about the collapsed power grids? We are NOT set up to handle this kind of thing!
As for the song…dumb….and the dancers….dumber! rolling my eyes here…think I need a stiff drink!
Pretty slow news day, and this is wildly off topic, but I have finally figured it out. After all this time, and after so many empty speeches, I've finally figured out where barack obama learned his peculiar style of speaking.
And I mean everything, from tone to cadence to inflection; this man obviously studied the collected works of Yogi Bear. I can't believe I hadn't recognized it before, but if you don't believe me, just try this out. Take just about any comment that comes out of baracky's mouth, and repeat it in your best Yogi impression. Then simply add, "Right, Boo Boo?" at the end of it.
You will find that there is almost NO definable difference in the two's manner of speech.
But of course, this does make sense. Yogi ALSO thought that he was smarter than the average bear.
couldn't they get milli vanilli out of retirement for this?
Fools and our monies were soon parted.
What's more, the power grids just happen to be closest to full capacity in precisely the places where "progressives" are most likely to buy these dogs with fleas in droves – California and the Northeast, particularly New York and New England. Yessiree, socialists sitting in the dark and unable to go anywhere: That's karmic justice!
That's a stylish looking car – can I get one with a big honking Dodge Hemi in it?
That's got to be one of the worst songs I've ever heard. GM can't even get propaganda right.
MY GOD, MAN! You're right!
Who would have guessed he's just an empty bear suit! Thank you, John!!
Our dear leader is a rip off of Hanna Barbara!
(That's who does Yogi, right? Wait, that doesn't sound right….;-)
Wouldn't that be a Fiat Hemi 4 cylinder these days, MR2?
I expect a Broadway production for the Silverado, followed by a feature film, if the Volt can get this!
Come on now I'm sure the Lada had one too
private equity obama style. its public. invest 83 billion. layoff 55,000 auto workers.close plants . shut down four car brands. sell off others. close 1700 plus dealers, another 85,000 jobs lost. taxpayers still on the hook for 25 billion.MSM declares it a great success.oh forgot shafting bondholders & giving equity to the unions
I don't care what you say. This is the funniest video that has come down the pike in a long time.
To the tune of "Safety Dance"
You can burn if you want to
You can leave your gas behind
Because if you don't spontaneously combust, then you're no Volt of mine
I gotta tell ya, this little discovery has changed my life. Now, instead of suffering intense, gastrointestinal distress whenever I hear BEARacks voice, I just add that little "Right Boo Boo?" tag to it, and I just have to laugh at him.
"I don't mind if the Republicans want to come for the ride. They'll just have to ride in the back……….Right Boo Boo?"
Makes ALL the difference.
Best bit about the Volt yet, Obama's Tech-Idiocy Czar harping about how li-ion batteries HAVE TO become 90% cheaper in order for the Green Idiocy to become sustainable economically on Planet Obama. Yup, they HAVE TO with China holding the majority of resource rights (as I've harped on for years here and elsewhere) to known deposits including those in Bolivia AND having themselves the most advanced city-factory on the planet regarding LIB manufacturing and technological development. The Japanese have been begging for inclusion with China since 2003, that I know of, while Japan's electric motor technology has been seen as the cost of admission. When the father of Japan's electric motor development says on camera that "China is in the driver's seat" on this issue, I'd listen up to the Indochina chatter and omit anything coming from America's current government or its media wing as just static.
"socialists sitting in the dark and unable to go anywhere"
They should be totally comfortable with that. It sounds exactly like their normal state of mind.
People on the Left see this and shrug their shoulders. Think for a minute what they're saying when they sanction this idiocy.
They're arguing that George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison would see nothing wrong with the government using tax dollars to pay people to write a song and perform dances in public in order to advertise a particular brand of horse-drawn carriage.
I almost got through the whistling but had to turn it off once the singing began. I assume it gets worse after that.
Nah, look at that hood – we can get a V10 in there! Slap on a hood hickey, some side pipes and slicks for the back – we be jammin'
Yes, and he's after the picnic basket…
It's also hard to listen to Boehner without hearing Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. "Oh, Ok. We'll raise the debt ceiling to 20 trillion." Would that qualify him as a pinata?
I'm thinking more Heckle and Jeckle with Valarie Jaded standing beside The One.
Nothing says urban hip like some hot chicks and a break dancer. woohoo!
Electric cars are a f-ing joke. Just displace the tail pipe to smoke stack. BRILLIANT!!!!
Could not finish either video. That was horrendous.
Does anyone know where all the wonderful components of the batteries come from? Where they are made? You know, which facility and where? What do we do with these batteries when they need to be recycled or disposed of? Yucca maybe??? Oh yeah. I forgot. The libs closed that one.
Welcome to the 2012 Grammy's.
Harvey's Moral Compass.
Actually, you'd have to dig up one of them. Literally.
They stole this idea from Stan Marsh and his "gay little song" about hybrid cars. SMUG ALERT! http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/104281/come...
Let's see.
2,000,000 jobs created or saved. Right Boo Boo?
Punish our enemies and reward our friends. Right Boo Boo?
We cannot pretend somehow that because Barack Hussein Obama got elected as president, suddenly everything is going to be OK. Right Boo Boo?
Well. John. I think you're on to something here. Right Boo Boo?
that's where they get extra votes, why not let them help in propping him up as well?
A big fat subsidy and a bus card in the glove box in case she goes up in smoke. Wait a minute, that didn't work for chrysler.
do the have the version where the car explodes?
Didn't they blame the fires on the rain? (Shameful MV knockoff.)
i watched that whole stupid dance video just to see the part where they burst into flames and it wasn't there. now i can add THAT to list of things i feel ripped off about by Govt Motors…
or "Shabby Trabbie" sung to the tune of "Stupid Cupid"…
What an embarrassment.
i regret that i can only bestow one thumbs up for that gem!
GM and the Volt will end up on the dust heap of history once Sugar Daddy is out of office and can't hand over tax dollars anymore.
Of course they will blame….wait for it… … The Tea Party congress.
WOW 40 miles of gas free driving? Then what? 350 miles of gas guzzling? or is it 150 miles of gas guzzling?
How heavy is a volt?
General Motors began a training program for first responders when performing rescue duties involving the Chevrolet Volt…It takes a village…when you put 100 3 volt cells in series to get 300 volts, you may be asking for trouble. If any single cell fails, it can overheat and ruin the entire pack. Also 300 volts DC is just as lethal as 300 volts AC and that is very dangerous.
Also thats a 400 pound battery pack…gonna need a lift to change that and I don't think they will take it away for free.
Most folks that worked or still work for GM were/are interested in paying the taxpayers back. The Volt, like hybrids, E85 capable vehicles are shoved down the throats of car makers to get credits from the government which makes selling vehicles folks actually want to purchase able to be to be offered.
The Volt dance didn't survive the run of the LA Autoshow in 2009.
The next step will be any criticism of the Volt will be labelled "hate Speech" !
I like my dancing girls naked!
The takeover of the auto industry was the first step by the puppet of the Bilderberg…Obama the Bush to fulfill the agenda of the Bilderberg…to take America down from within at any cost and in record time!
He has attempted…but we 'real' Americans have thwarted his timetable…big time…and we are about to stop their destruction of America from within in November 2012…by NOT voting for anyone associated with any of the NWO organizations!
He is through…he is over…he will walk out of our White House in disgrace and in shame. And when his children go to read about the history under their father…they will read that he was the worst President ever in the history of our great Republic. So when Michele said 'for the first time in my life…I am proud of my country'…this page of history has not been written…but it will be…and when it is…we will all be proud of our country again…as we throw this fraud out of our White House for good!
THE FRAUD WILL NOT WIN…AGAIN!
THE FRAUD CANNOT WIN…AGAIN!
THE FRAUD WILL BE OUT OF OUR HOUSE IN JANUARY OF 2013…GUARANTEED!
I'm conservative, I own a Chevy Volt, and I don't understand the criticism. But don't let the facts get in the way:
FACT: I have purchased less than 30 gallons of gas in over 7,000 miles of driving. I would have purchased over 300 gallons in my previous car, gas money that goes to fund the likes of the Saudis, Hugo Chavez and Vladimir Putin. The Volt keeps my money here in the U.S. generating jobs at U.S. power plants, coal mines, and natural gas wells.
FACT: Most electric vehicle charging occurs at night, when there is so much excess capacity that even if EVERY car were an electric car, there would have to be only two more power-plants built in the U.S. to handle the load. Once again, this would keep the jobs in the U.S. instead of sending our money overseas.
Too many facts for a single post:
FACT: George Bush (whom I voted for twice) signed the $7500 government rebate, and the rebate is the only problem that I have with the Volt. In fact, on principle I won't even take the rebate although I could.
FACT: The Obama administration's "Automobile Task Force" tried to kill the Chevy Volt. I am thankful that the Obama administration was unsuccessful in this.
FACT: It takes days or weeks after a severe side-impact-followed-by-rollover accident for a Volt battery catch fire. I would surely hope I would be extracted from the car in a few minutes or hours in such an accident.
FACT: The very conservative Anton Wahlman (self-described as "somewhere way to the right of Rush Limbaugh"), who also owns a Rolls Royce, notes that his Volt is quieter, smoother and faster than his Rolls.
(Worth reading: http://www.thestreet.com/story/11354404/4/setting... )
One question: Was that Regina Spektor singing? It sould make sense for that whole affluent hipster tie in…since that's the only demographic that'll buy the car.
I sent GM my own original song titled, "So your the dolt that bought a volt". The fact that it wasn't accepted by GM shows their blatant prejudice.
What is on the last page of every GM Volt manual?
ans. A Greyhound bus schedule
Why do Volt's have a heater for the back window?
ans. To keep your hands warm when pushing.
What do you call a Volt with a flat tire?
ans. Totalled.
What optional equipment can you get for the Volt to make it go faster?
ans. A towtruck
Thank GAWD i'm not a share holder……………………….oh crap…..I AM!
That's not dancing. That's an exercise class.
FACT: Nothing in your comments addresses the very real shortage of electricity – especially in your part of the country – that would occur should the Dolt ever become as popular as, say, the first Mustang was back in '64. Building millions of electric cars (which the Dolt is not, BTW) without bothering to make certain the grid can handle the additional demand is a bit like building millions of cars with internal-combustion engines without bothering to think about the thousands of gas stations needed to fuel them, no?
The absolute fact is that you aren't a conservative. You're a troll.
The Reality Bolt Hit The Chevy Volt –
Government Motors built the Volt
For Messiah Obama, the Democrat dolt.
Hope and change is on it's way,
In a firey crash and pyrotechnics display,
2,700 Volts in recall to the last one,
The plan failed and the little car that can't is done.
Batteries exploding and garages burning down,
Can't stop the insanity of the one term socialist clown.
Parts made in China by those we owe,
Means less Union Jobs and more soon to go.
No American buyer wants the Volt,
Except for those government agencies forced by an Obama jolt.
On bailout life support and fading fast,
Government Motors is in the red and won't last.
All those Detroit Union jobs will be soon lost forever,
As China and Obama pull the toilet lever.
The Volts remaining will be recycled at last,
Into garden planters and monuments to Obama's failures past.
"FACT: Nothing in your comments addresses the very real shortage of electricity – especially in your part of the country."
Hmmm, maybe you didn't see the rest of my post (it was split in two), but yes, as a matter of fact I did address the 'electricity shortage'. Here in NJ, with about 50% nuclear power, there is WAY excess capacity at night, so charging at night is not a problem. In fact, even if the Volt was the most popular car in America, there would be no problem handling the extra load at night.
I suppose you oppose hiring more night-time power-plant workers and increasing employment in natural gas drilling and coal mining?
I'm not sure why I'm replying to this, as calling someone a 'troll' is despicable. I am conservative, and proud of my country and our servicemen and women. Let me tell you why I bought a Volt: I work as a contractor for a branch of the U.S. military. In the days after 9/11/01, me and some co-workers vowed to find a way to stop buying the oil that funds the madrassas that spread hatred of America around the world. It just really got under my skin every time that I filled up my car that I was funding the likes of the Bin Laden group, Hugo Chavez and Vladimir Putin.
I am THRILLED to be driving almost 100% made-in-USA energy, and am more than thrilled with the incredible silent, smooth performance and intense acceleration that my Volt has.
(On another note, I do agree that the songs are VERY annoying.)
FYI, here's a photo of the back of my Volt. (I love the guy who has the "EF OPEC" license plates. Don't know how that got through the censors!)
http://mysite.verizon.net/~illo/Volt_bumper.jpg
No United Auto Worker union member has bought a Volt though they get a large employee discount on top of the rebate because they know it is a lousy car. the owners are going face giant hazardous waste disposal charges when the battery dies it will cost big bucks to get rid of.
wow how many screen names do you have? 7 confirmed so far. you must be very lonely.
THE FRAUD WILL NOT WIN…AGAIN!
THE FRAUD CANNOT WIN…AGAIN!
THE FRAUD WILL BE OUT OF OUR HOUSE IN JANUARY OF 2013…GUARANTEED!
you are also a fraud. that make you a hypocrite. http://suicidehotlines.com/
don't do anything drastic
Is this the same company that got bailed out that Romney compared his work at Bain capitol to?
We are so screwed.
Seriously, How can you be so very aware of the control that the Bilderberg has over our Gov't, and at the same time talk so negatively about Ron Paul, who to me is clearly the ONLY one who is NOT a puppet?
The perpetual fear mongered wars, and the Federal Reserve system are part of the plan. Ron Paul is the only one talking about bringing our troups home to defend our home land, and ending the stranglehold the Fed has on our economy.
Serious question. Please give a serious, non-Peanut Gallery answer
"Pot" Paul…as I have said repeatedly…has many…many good ideas…but the crazy ones outweigh the good every single time! And I am not the only one who feels this way…there are millions who also agree with him on many things…but stand aghast at the crazy ones he comes up with!
Then there is his rabid worshippers who will give every 'real' American pause in voting for him because of their malcontent and anarchist ways…of trying to squash the free speech of anyone in opposition to this crazy old man!
This is a serious response to your question…he is crazy to the point of lunatical…in his response on foreign affairs and the military. He will NOT win…yet again…guaranteed!
In that song I did not hear anything about bursting into flames or leaving you stranded during winter. Maybe I just missed that part?
There would be no more night time workers at the coal power plant or coal miners. They do not ratchet back the power much as they take too long to fire up. You'd be waiting on your office air condition due to a self-made brownout There is a waste of power. That's the point of charging at night.
Charging at night? Great idea but what about all the business models like GE charing stations at businesses and downtown areas to charge your volt? That is not for night. If this car were as popular as Mustang as stated above people would drive to Downtown/office buildings/ Lowes/ Target and PLUG in for 10 bucks. Mid-Day, August, 101 degrees, DRAIN! Brilliant.
EILEENTHEBUBBA — OWNED BY NWO JUST TOO SLOOOOW TO KNOOOOW.
must be all the fluoride….
She should not post…again
she must not post…. again
she shall not post…..again.
get it….Bubba.
moderatefringe: "what about all the business models like GE charing stations at businesses and downtown areas"
We would have to build more power plants then. So you prefer sending most of your transportation-fuel money out of the U.S., and you see a problem with building more power plants and keeping more jobs in the U.S.? That's strange.
But like I said, and please don't let the facts get in the way, I have driven my Volt for over 7000 miles in 8 months, and I almost exclusively charge at night. My round-trip commute is 30 miles (which is the national average). Yes, for people who drive 100+ mile commutes, it would be better to get a different car than a Volt. But for the average person (like me), the Volt cuts gas consumption by 90%, keeping jobs in the U.S.
You're right about the coal plants. My bad.

Yes, for people who drive 100+ mile commutes it would be better to get a different car than a Volt. But for the average person (like me), the Volt cuts gas consumption by 90%, keeping jobs in the U.S. And if we build more base-load power plants (nuclear, coal), and put outlets at businesses, a Volt driver would use just 1/2 a gallon of gas to commute that 100 miles.
You're right about the coal plants. My bad.
When I think of progressives, I envision a group of people, sitting around a table, pounding square pegs into very small round holes. A very persistent lot they are.
The problem with electric cars is that the electricity goes out, you're out of luck. In case of emergency, gas you can store up. If everyone has electric cars, we're at the mercy of the government. Is it any wonder why Obama wants us to use electric cars??!!
The anemic Volt sales make the Edsel sales figures look tremendous. Only a government run company could push this turkey with a straight face.
Only two Bubba…one by choice and one by force…
I go by two names so that I can continue to get out the truths to counter the lies of all you "Pot" Paul OWS malcontents and anarchists coming against me in mass to complain and getting me thrown off Breitbart TV and Big Peace…because with all your big talk about free this and free that you take away the voice of the opposition so that only yours is heard.
You call that freedom…for all? I call it tyranny and oppression and "Pot" Paul is going to lose…yet again…because of you and your dirty tricks to squash freedom of speech!
SCUM!
I think you are getting me mixed up with YOUR (7) aliases…because then you can get out more lies that way…Bubba!
I think my brain started to melt while listening to this…
Racist!!!
now you even have two of you accounts on the same thread interesting…
that fluoride is getting to your brain.
Electric cars run on power that comes from wind, solar, hydroelectric dams, nuclear, coal, natual gas…all that we have an abundance of in America. Yet Fox News (part Saudi owned) and the GOP (owned by big oil) want to do everything they can to keep us using oil that we buy from countries that hate America and then use our money to fund terrorism against us. Why do the Republicans hate America?
