We’ve Got the Tea Party, But They Have the Mad Hatter
by Steven MooreIt wouldn’t be an election without an October surprise, and sure enough, the 2010 cycle will not disappoint. This time, it’s not some 11th hour accusation about unpaid taxes, illegal nannies or secret love affairs, but an appearance from the Mad Hatter of pollsters whose crazy talk in the final days of the election is making black sound like white and and Nancy Pelosi sound…sane. Well, almost.

Who is the Mad Hatter of the 2010 elections? Friends, follow me on a trip down the rabbit hole…
Dave Schweikert (AZ 5), who I met while in AZ in August and really like, has been ahead consistently by six to eight points against Rep. Harry Mitchell through the first of September.
So I became quite concerned when two polls in October showed him down by seven! A 15 point swing in 30 days!
This is particular bizarre since Arizona is ground zero for voter angst this cycle. My uncle, a retired professor of labor law, has never voted for a Republican in his life. This summer, he started a blog against Harry Mitchell. And it is nasty.
What moved him to do so? His daughter (my cousin) narrowly avoided two rounds of layoffs from a major pharma company, each accompanied by a letter citing “recent changes in health care policy.” His premiums have gone up 15%. Both his kids are under water on their houses.
Polls are moved by news. What could be happening in Arizona to turn Schweikert’s race around and make people like my uncle abandon his blog and let bygones be bygones?
A quick Google news search shows that the University of Arizona is 4-1, but I don’t know if that is vote determinative, and I couldn’t find any Obama speeches on the subject.
But I did find this: the DCCC has cut its spending in Mitchell’s race.
How is it then that Benenson Strategy Group confirms the DCCC poll showing Schweikert 7 points down. One poll is an anomaly, perhaps, but two polls, showing the same thing, is a trend. Should I believe the DCCC poll or the DCCC media buy?
In Illinois, where, as Peter Roskam’s chief of staff, I do most of my work, Randy Hultgren was up by six against Bill Foster according to the Tarrance Group on October 3. On October 4, Benenson Strategy Group – there they are again – shows him down by ten. Sixteen points in 24 hours – someone needs to call the folks at Ripley’s about this one. And the DCCC comes in a week later with a poll confirming the Benenson Strategy Group findings.
Charles Djou in Hawaii, up by ten in his last poll, is shown to be down by four in early October – again, according to a DCCC poll. Last week The Hill came out showing him up by four points.
Now, if this were just a couple of races, I might not be so suspicious. But the D-Trippers have posted a web page boasting of this sort of swing in 12 races.
Meanwhile, Gallup, an organization whose pollsters have PhDs in Statistics rather than MAs in Creative Writing, shows the GOP with a 17 point lead among likely voters nationwide.
Even George Soros says he can’t stop a Republican avalanche. Do you think the Daddy Warbucks of the radical left hasn’t done the research?
With all external signs pointing to sustained momentum for GOP House candidates, we are left with only one lingering question – who the heck is the Benenson Strategy Group? As it turns out, Joel Benenson lays claim to being Barack Obama’s lead pollster in 2008. In 2010, Benenson is a finalist for the Steven Moore Mad Hatter Award for most nonsensical polling.
The Dems would have us believe the results of Obama’s pollster confirming the DCCC polling. Little did we know that the Dem’s push for manufacturing this fall would include manufacturing electoral momentum.

I'm Not Worried it's just another trick !
I ignore all polls from organizations I've never heard of, and also organizations who only poll "locally" (and always tend to be biased toward the general mood of the local electorate, D or R).
Rasmussen is the best by far, simply because they crunch such large sets of numbers 12 months of the year. (Although I do think they are underestimating Rs this time around…)
The dims are definitely the Mad Hatters; probably because of all the mercury in those compact fluorescent bulbs!
Tea, anyone?
"Little did we know…" really? You're surprised? It's what they do. In many ways, it's all they do. If you're really surprised (which I have to doubt), you must be very naive.
The dems are madly trying to manufacture any edge they can, this is a perfect example of political desperation and panic.
"Although I do think they are underestimating Rs this time around…"
And I'm glad they are. It keeps the likely Republican voters a little more motivated.
Lying liars and the lies they tell!
The Demoncrats have based their party on LIES for decades, why would today be any different?
Remember there are "Lies, Damned lies, and statistics"… Mark Twain.
I have learned NOT to pay attention to any polls, as they are usually peppered by one party or the other! I will reserve my conclusion until AFTER the election…however if it is anything like the presidential election, and wrought with fraud from groups like ACORN, there will be hell to pay!
Obfuscators to the core! The DCCC is not accurate and plays with misdirection as though it were the latest toy on the shelf. This election cycle will have but one poll that truly counts, and that will be the results on November 3rd. For all the pundits, pollsters and extreme left sycophants, watch what happens when peeved American Patriots show up to cast their vote. This November is only the beginning.
Three out of every two people can't do math.
It's true. I saw it in a poll.
"Tourture numbers long enough and they'll give you any answer you want."

These are the death throws of a kicking to the grave left. I revel in their demise.
This article could have been written in one sentence… Rolly pollie pollywogs are singing polly wolly doodle all the day.
What popped into my head after reading Soros, "who me" type comment was that he's attempting to downplay his involvement in what could possibly be the possible attempt by the Soros funded Secretary of State Project to steal this election for democrats. The msm and friendly polling agency polls that infer that democrats are making a rebound could be window dressing to avoid scrutiny ahead of the scam. We need more poll watchers, we need lawyers monitering secretary of state and board of elections for possible shenanigans, from the inside, to do all they can to prevent this sort of thing from happening.
ROTFLOL…… 3 OUT OF 2? WOW!……..LARRY ……AWESOME STATS! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Thanks for my first LAUGH of the day.
I'm all about the math!
.
This is truly an epic election season, even if we know party politics is a fools game for the masses.
It is sad that all they can talk about is Aqua Budda or an illegal nanny, or being a witch…
But what is sadder is they do this because some people are persuaded by it!
Mornin' Mr Logic……. I imagine this last couple of weeks push may show us a whole bunch of UGLY,
don'cha reckon?
We may need to fasten our seatbelts.
.
LOL …
So what shall we do, we lie, says the media.
I predict a landslide this November for statist politicians that believe in overwhelming social, monetary, economic, police, and military control.
Won't it be fun to wake up on Nov 5th and see how this all shook out. I just can't wait to see how
all these dirty tricks the Left has instigated will resolve.
Of course I expect them to learn absolutely NOTHING from their failure, but at least the coverage of their
conniption fit should be entertaining.
VOTE CONSERVATIVE, 2010 ! ! !
.
…I'll take a cup – with some of that GM/UAW lemon.
I see this "trickery" motivating the "angry mob" of republicans more than of the dem's.
I voted early.
In their world the ends justfiy the means. Any means are on the table and that is what we see time after time and only those who are intentionally deluding themselves into believing lies are truth can sustain the liberal-progressive "cause".
So Benenson's so-called confirmation of DCCC polls is like someone in denial of reality– calling "up", "down"……yeah I'd say that qualifies as "Alice In Wonderland" material! He's certainly had the job of "whispering in the king's ear" previously, this looks like a continuation of that……
The only poll that matters is election day! We must not be too confident or cocky, and risk having some folks stay home, thinking "we got this, I don't need to bother". We know that the ACORN type groups out there will try all sorts of shenanigans to screw with the vote counts, so we all need to keep the fire in our bellies and cast our ballots on Nov 2.
The dems are no doubt engaging in election fraud and vote tampering. Not just the light ACORN voter registration fraud, but actually changing election results. And when it happens, they are going to NEED these fictitious polls to point to as backup for these "strange" vote outcomes.
Keep your eyes on the craziest outlier polls. Those will be the most likely targets of election theft.
V.P. Biden is the Mad Hatter.
I will be standing in what I am sure is a long line of voters itching to get their fingers on the ballot. I am also willing to bet that the conversations will be considerably different than it was in November 2008.
No! You must be wrong, liberals lying, it can’t be!
The ruling class is in full protect mode expect complete hysterics as the electoral purges get set to begin.
“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”

Spot on. You can't justify a "magical" dem comeback (election fraud) without some bogus polling data to back it up. It's all part of their game.
Leftists use polls to create new(s) issues and shape public opinion, instead of letting polls tell us about public opinion and alert us to new issues. It is the ultimate "tail wagging the dog" scenario. So, they are trying to use polls to manufacture momentum? Wake me when the re-runs are over and the new season starts.
that's been updated to "Liars, Damned Liars, and Democrats."
Yet one more reason why the electorate must begin learning how to think for itself, something that's been dying ever since mass electronic media began.
It's all snake oil.
i'm guessing it's to keep Dem spirits up and prevent massive voter apathy. they're desperately trying to stave off a huge case of "Aw, f*** it" on election day.
That's what Fascists do. They manufacture support and demand adherence to their dogma by their most fervent, captive supporters. They do it in Cuba, Venezuela, and Russia. The regressive, American neo-commies are no different.
Good Morning P2O…..I'll be waiting as always for the doors to open. I usually go early in the morning.
I can't wait. It will be like Christmas all across this country.
More Nonsense From the MSM…THE POLLS ARE UP! DEMOCRATS MAKE GAINS!
In reality it is like a tsunami… Everyone rushes out to pick up sea shells as the ocean recedes… Then…
Millions of average Americans, the sleeping giant, have been awakened and are finding out what Obama and his puppet, Socialist Congress have been doing to our once great nation… and they don't like it one bit! Now they are gathering their strength…

Good morning to you too.
Ho, ho, ho, Merry Election year!
Having read your post there Johnny,……….
there now no need for me to post,………
Stop reading my mind.

ahhhh the good ol days.
Thanks for the nostalgia trip there professor.
Maybe these pollsters know about the vote fraud coming. I will not be sure about Rep victories until the last vote is certified. How man y trunks full of uncounted ballots will show up this time? We have to be ever vigilant.
McCains daughter:
"O'Donnell is a nutcase"
and know these polls.
It's like being in one of those kung-fu movies
Bingo! Not really a guess, though. More like an astute observation. Even this will backfire because when demonrats (sic) read these polls, if they can read, they will be saying, "We're so far ahead there is no need to vote!" In a perfect world, anyway.
I'm glad a lot of us are aware of it. That might be the only way we can keep it in check.
THis is an old Obama troupe. One of his strategic objectives in 2008 was to keep getting distorted polls like those mentioned above on to sites like RCP. The idea was to blow the fog of war out to demoralize less interested Conservative voters. Nothing new under the sun.
This whole race reminds me more of the 'Magical Mystery Tour'…what a joke our government is!
Thanks, i have know the numbers were not adding up, but was at a loss as to why, this gives a reasonable explanation as to why.
OT, but Peter Roskam is my rep and I feel very fortunate. A patch of sanity in IL.
That is at minimum very accurate…
Good article. Thanks for the background.
They are just trying to raise the RealClear Politics average since so many people cite the average as more credible. What I find interesting is that many conservatives refuse polls (I have tried to answer some polls and was hung up on when they didn't like my answers). That being said, any poll that is around even this year will have a conservative victory as the polls miss many of the most conservative voters.
LOL – almost fell out of my chair,
I hope the Tea Party backed candidates do well this election. I hope the angry ex-Republicans/neo-neo-conservatives get what they want and are successful in removing the RINOs from the House and the Senate.
Why? Because that way, years from now, we'll look back and see that 2010 was the peak of the Tea Party movement. 2010 was the height of Glenn Beck's relevancy. By 2012, the newcomers will have had 2 years of disastrous on-the-job training and no Tea-Party backed ticket will be a threat in the 2012 elections. The Tea Party will become more and more extreme until they're merely a curiosity in history books.
This short-sighted political cycle of constant campaigning and bickering has to stop. "Washington" isn't the problem. "Politicians" aren't the problem. The idiots who are naive enough to do whatever the TV tells them to do are the problem. So go ahead, vote for your 18th-century inspired "change" in 2010, even though you scoffed at the opportunity for real change in 2008. Put us right back to where we were two years ago. Give them another chance to fail. That way, Republicans will be even bigger losers in 2012.
The senate race in CT is getting ugly also. I hope voters finally move away from Dick Blumenthal. He can not create jobs which this state really needs, he only sues companies. His tax & spend philosophy is in lockstep with the Dem's failed economic strategy. Blumenthal will support a national energy tax which will become an added burden to our personal budgets. He lied about being in Vietnam. Why do the voters continue to vote him in? Linda McMahon at least has created jobs, made payroll and knows how to run a company during lean times. I'm so sick of reading and hearing Blumenthal talk trash about the WWE…who cares – If you don't agree with it, turn it off. It's no worse than half the crap on TV anyway. November can't come soon enough for me. Oh, I also have to pay attention to the MA races…I have property there.
Without the parenthesis this time.
Benenson Strategy Group website: http://www.bsgco.com/main/do/The_Firm
Dare I say it? Well, yeah. The silent majority is silent no more. Go teaparty!!
The reason you can't understand the differing poll results is that Gallup is measuring likely living voters. The DCCC is including the ACORN paper votes that are scheduled to be stuffed into the ballet boxes.
Really though, it is a known psychological trick. People are influenced by the perceived groupthink.
The Asch Experiment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRh5qy09nNw
the groovey fashions may have changed, but human psychology has not. and don't laugh. THINK about all the times you have been in similar circumstances without even realizing it.
And don't think for a second that the MSM, commercial advertisers, and political consultants don't know this inside and out. Its used everyday of your life to sell you cars, sodas, pop stars, cheese whiz, and political candidates
"It's used everyday of your life to sell you…cheese whiz, and political candidates." I just knew Nancy Pelosi had a head full of Cheese Whiz. Good one robobbob!
The best thing in the nation will be to get the party of Republicans back into office as they know they only have one chance to right things or they have lost the party for good. The Democrats are definitely on the path to destroying the United States of America and looking for a One World Government and that is not what the majority of Americans want and or will settle for. Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, Shumer, Rangle, Waters, Frank, Shoyer, Feinstien, Boxer, etc Do I have to say more. These folks all want to continue on in POWER and at what price they don't give a damn. I do! Kick them all out and any of your favorites also. And don't forget the RINO'S in the Republican party. They must go also, all of them no matter what personal feelings we may have toward one or the other as we are voting for the entire United States not just our home town and State.
The biggest mistake the RATS could have ever done, was to take on the Tea Party, or grass roots Americans!
When you demean America's grand parents, mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, veterans etc, than you've basically committed political suicide. Do you azzholes hear us now!
As an Obama pollster he is polling the votes that he knows will be cast. He has contacted the cementaries, the ACORN offices and the Secretaries of State who are Soros SoS canidates. He knows that these votes have been or will be cast to to make sure the "proper" canidates prevail. Just ask Senator Al Franken how well that works.

When they outlaw lightbulbs will only outlaws see the light?
"neo-neo-conservatives"?? You really are stretching for new terms for conservatives, aren't you?
Politicians actually are the problem. Politicians from both sides are the problem. Both sides of the aisle have abused their power and spent WAY too much money. The idiots who are naive enough to do whatever the TV tells them to do exist in both parties, so please do not attempt to make you and your fellow liberals look superior to all conservatives. It is up to everyone to do their own research on each candidate and vote according to your beliefs. You seem to hate Beck so much that it must hurt to know that he constantly tells his audience to research everything he says and not just believe whatever he says.
"your 18th-century inspired change"?? Are you trying to say that the beliefs of our founders were wrong? Were are founding fathers misguided?
Not all conservatives are blind followers of the GOP, just like I'm sure not all liberals are blind followers of the DNC.
ya sure got everything all figured out there Mr. architect,….
so how come all this stumping for candidates by your BOY.
Me thinks you are going to have to go back to the drawing board there NYC,…………
your last design that you submitted in 2008 has totally collapsed.
If politicians are the problem, then why are the Tea Partiers stumping to add more Republicans to the pile? Won't any candidate, Republican or Democrat, immediately become part of the problem as soon as he or she is elected?
The problem, as I see it, is people who don't understand the problems facing this country, in even the simplest terms. I agree, the problem exists in both camps. Electing representation is exactly the core of what the founding fathers had in mind, so blaming the people who chose to serve sounds like a conflict of interest for anyone hoping to hold up the founders beliefs.
No, the problem doesn't come from the politicians. The problem is the people who get their information from the TV. You think that Beck's audience researches everything he says? How is it that such a substantial amount of his audience believes Obama was born in Kenya? How is it that they believe he's actually a Muslim? How could they be doing this research and get such simple facts wrong?
"Won't any candidate, Republican or Democrat, immediately become part of the problem as soon as he or she is elected?" I guess the whole system is screwed then. Your statement does make a valid argument for term limits in Congress, at least it does in my opinion.
Do you have proof that a substantial amount of his audience believes those things? I obviously cannot speak for Beck's entire audience, but I do not believe those accusations. You seem to be somewhat of an intelligent guy. I thought you were beyond making such sweeping accusations.
Eh. I really don't feel like researching. This summer, I read 25% of the country believes Obama was born in Kenya. Can't remember where. Let's just agree that if the number is somewhere around 5% that's still a substantial and absurd number. It actually got to the point where Beck himself said on camera that Obama was born in the US. I don't have evidence to prove that either, but I read it in the New Yorker or some other liberal rag.
Something as you may notice, the Birthers, 9/11 truthers and racist are always among the fringe in any group and are on both sides. But giving an audience that fringe view and calling them all that is just wrong. You are aware there are about maybe 7% of people who believe the moon landing was fake. Just pointing out, you should never take the fringe and assume they are the majority.
As for the politicians though, there are plenty of good people who can make great politicians as there are many corrupt scumbags that make horrid politicians to. In order to help the problems with politicians is that we need to limit their power once again, and hold them accountable to their actions. It doesnt matter to which side someone is on, power will corrupt and that does hint to alot of politians we have had for the past century or so. They need to become the servents of the people once more, not the people serving them. Remember, our founders help build this country for the people to be run by the people.
I never said they were the majority. I said "substantial." And the birthers are a Republican fringe group, they're not on both sides. People that believe the moon landing is a fake are relatively harmless, so far as I can tell. Their ignorance really has no consequence, whereas the ignorance of the birthers is much more serious. But that's only my opinion.
If you believe that politicians must serve the people and not be beholden to special interest groups, you must be in favor of campaign reform. You must be opposed to the recent supreme court ruling that made it legal for corporations to donate to campaigns… surely that is preventing politicians from serving the people instead of serving the donors. Right?
I always find it amusing how the Left thinks they've cornered the market on "change" simply because they label their policies "progressive."
There's absolutely nothing progressive about adding more government to what we already have. Human history has demonstrated that real progress has been marked by a decentralization of power. Yet the Left believes it's enlightened to abdicate more of our liberty to faceless bureaucrats hundreds of miles away.
The Left would support a monarchy if the king called himself a progressive.
I've GOT to call you out on this one.
"Eh. I really don't feel like researching."?? You just made it a point to say that Beck's audience doesn't research anything he says, and now you are too lazy to do research to back up YOUR OWN claims???
How does your 5% number of Americans who believe Obama was born outside the US compare to the approximate 16% of Americans who believe 9-11 was an inside job? (BTW, that little bit of research took about 30 seconds)
Have you ever considered the fact that the only reason we have to worry about those dreaded "special interest groups" is because we've granted the government extraordinary power to implement the agendas of those groups?
A government restricted to specific enumerated powers wouldn't have that problem. That's precisely what the Founders intended when they drafted the constitution, but we've gone in the exact opposite direction.
Centralization of power will always result in corruption — and well-connected interests trying to buy influence.
Ugh… fine. Here's one from a year ago that says:
The poll also showed high levels of extremism among voters of both parties on some key
issues. 42% of Republicans think Barack Obama was not born in the US while 25% of
Democrats think George W. Bush had something to do with 9/11.
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/surveys/20...
I'd say those 25% (or your 16%, whatever) are just as wrong as the 42%.
Yeah but the Republicans add more government as well. Look at GWB and the first 6 years of his presidency when he had a Republican controlled congress. Patriot Act, defense, the size of government grows whether you're red or blue. Saying you're the party of small government is one thing, actually being the party of small government is a fantasy.
Of course I've considered it, what do you think my post is saying?
Look, if you got elected by $100 million of corporate money and $10 million of personal constituent money, who do you think you'd be beholden to? The answer is simple – eliminate the corporate money.
For every social program and entitlement that Bush supported, Democrats tried to push through even more.
For example, Bush increased federal spending on education by 70% – and Democrats were demanding far more than that.
Bush spent like a Democrat, including on such wasteful programs as ethanol, which is one of the biggest scams of the century.
BTW, if the Patriot Act is so bad, why did the Obama Administration ask for and receive an extension of the PA from the Dem-controlled Congress? They basically extended it intact, with minor changes.
And, the Dems are going far beyond what they used to find abhorrent:
New York Times: U.S. Tries to Make It Easier to Wiretap the Internet
The Hill: White House invokes state secrets privilege to block targeted killings suit
Time Magazine: The Government Can Use GPS to Track Your Moves
More foreign troop deaths in Afghanistan
I've found numbers anywhere from 16% to 33% of Americans that believe 9-11 was a government job. It's good to see you think they are wrong as well.
"Meanwhile, Gallup, an organization whose pollsters have PhDs in Statistics rather than MAs in Creative Writing"
Line of the Day.
Well not to stoke this flame, but where Obama was born is just a simple fact. Whether or not it's accurate, the statistic is pretty straightforward.
How and why 9/11 occurred and who is behind it is really really complicated. George Bush certainly "had something to do with it." He was president when it happened. That's not to say he's responsible or he did it – that's ridiculous – but "it's a government job" is really nebulous, so that statistic has a lot of explaining to do.
Dude, you really can't expect a real conversation with me. I don't want to talk to you. Just go away.
You've continually demonstrated that no one should expect to have an actual conversation with you.
If you don't like my posts, consider ignoring them, just the way you ignore anything that challenges your communist agenda.
"eliminate the corporate money. "
Oh don't worry, the Democrat agenda is indeed to eliminate corporate money.
and the correct answer is:
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/06/hypoc...
"When word and deed conflict, believe the action. Every damn time."
NYC, you're forgetting something… "the Tea Party movement' will not be "finished" if teh conservatives take over the House and/or Senate… why? Because most Tea Party believers are holding these candidates to an even HIGHER standard than the establishment candidates they want to oust.
For someone who you claim who's popularity peaks this year… GB seems to have a lot of liberals still whining about many of his comments.
Once again, you're someone who's trying to pigeon-hole the TP beliefs into a 'one-time only political ideological drive' that will fade into the woodwork… when I think you're ignoring the fact that the TP has become the "new" watchdog for financial govt spending, as best as their abilities allow.
See here's where your entire original argument falls flat, NYC. TARP1 was the ball that got the Tea Party ideals starting (although I might go back even further and say that the Medicare and NCLB spending sprees by Bush were the first stones to move there.), it was the stimulus package that caused the final momentum shift that "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!.
Yes, the post-94 republicans fouled the water enough with their big spending ideas… but that's why they lost their seats in the first place (it had nothing to do with the "most *Bullshit*ethical*Bullshit* congress" claim by Pelosi.
Score!
Hey NYCarrogance. Long time no talk. Have you actually read through that garbledy-gook of a post you've made here? Do you realize how you come off? Your condescending tone is astounding for someone that says nothing substantive whatsoever. The post can be boiled down to two simple statements: "you people are stupid. I read the NYT and listen to NPR, which means I'm smart. So there." Good job.
I never said I'm a Republican. I'm not. I am, however, basically the opposite of what passes for a "progressive" nowadays, which means I'm neither a Democrat or a Republican.
Also, I think Americans are tired of having the Left point at what the Republicans and Bush did and use that as an excuse for what the Democrats and Obama are currently doing. Were the Republicans and Bush bad? Of course. But what's going on right now has Americans downright incensed. The Left doesn't seem to recognize that fact, which is why its ideology is being completely rejected by the rest of the country during this election.
Just go away? I don't think so. Actually, I think we'll all stick around a lot longer now.
"..you really can't expect a real conversation with me…"
To be sure, dude, we really don't. In fact, we never really expect to have a 'real' conversation with any of you regressive liberals because of your chronic real-ity deficiencies–not to mention your abhorrence for fact and/or truth.
But we do appreciate your honest self-assessment and thoughtful warning.
If liberals don't like the truth at hand, they simply manufacture their own–I think the correct term for that practice is called 'psychosis.'
So, taking your train of thought Clinton had something to do with OKC as well. After all, he was president when it happened. I know that sounds completely ridiculous and I DO NOT believe Clinton had anything to do with the bombing in OKC. I am simply using it as an example.
How and why 9-11 occurred is not really all that complicated. Muslim extremists who hate the USA hijacked airliners, behind the leadership of al-qaeda, and flew them into the WTC and Pentagon.
We could pretend to argue, but we're saying pretty much the same thing. I agree with you. I still think it's f'd up that a poll found that somehow 42% of Republicans in Sept 2009 thought Obama was born outside the US. It says something about the gullibility of the TV audience, I think.
"I read 25% of the country believes Obama was born in Kenya." You have less reason to believe he was born here than the people you try to demonize with your "birther" label have to believe he wasn't. Is that Alinsky or Cloward-Piven? I always lose track when you're crappin' through your lips, NYC.
About that OJT comment–Can we expect all of your anointed geniuses to figure out capitalism soon? Going on two years, now. I know, I know, we're just not smart enough to see how gifted Keynes and Obama were/are about Economics.
You're so full of sh**, NYC, that has to be the only thing giving you the dermal turgidity to remain standing because I see little evidence you possess a skull to house a brain or a spine to hold you up. STFU and go away–America is about to get a respite from your Islamo-Commie revolution. Given the short memories of Americans, probably just a respite but it will have to do for now.
Psychotic pissants of Pivenism.
What really says something about the gullibility of voters is that Obama got past the primaries.
http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/downchart_gs….
Note the "hump' in 2010. It's a picture, go ahead, NYC, boldly go. Then go get a job.
I never said you were a Republican. Perhaps you're a libertarian. Maybe you're an anarchist. I don't know. I just know that contemporary Republicans are no longer the party of small government like they pretended to be under Reagan.
Look, I agree that Obama let us down. There are certain things that he handled poorly. Guantanamo, for one. Post-partisanship. Healthcare. NOT the economy. NOT the stability of the Middle East. I genuinely believe that we should be blaming this economy on Bush for the next 10 years and the stability of the Middle East on Bush for the next 20 years. The damage he did to both was so extensive that you can't just pass the buck on to the next guy and expect results. Both are in complete disaster and there are simply no quick fixes. And you can point to Congress, you can point to American greed, you can point to American stupidity, whatever you want – but the ownership society and the war in Iraq were serious agendas of Bush… He drove the bulk of the nails into those coffins.
OK, I'll bite. TARP was signed into law by Bush. We now know that the primer that set off the financial crisis was subprime mortgages. Here's Bush's "A Home of Your Own" plan, from 2002, back when we had a Republican Congress: http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/infocu...
If the Tea Party is a reaction against TARP, why is the solution to elect more Republicans? Weren't they in power when the problem occurred?
