RNC Wants Collective Bargaining with Tea Parties
by SFC Steve McQueen (Ret.)It has only been a matter of weeks since Neil Cavuto interviewed me to share my opinion regarding Michael Steele’s sudden interest in the Tea Party Movement. It appears Michael Steele is showing up with candy and flowers this Valentine’s Day. Using my experience as a Tea Party organizer I explained that the RNC was on probation and that I felt confident that the Republicans would have to stand up and show their outrage over spending, the trampling of our constitution, and a myriad of other issues before their status would change in the eyes of the American people. Republicans have often played the helpless victim while hardworking Americans (the true victims of this governmental meltdown) stand and fight.

At the same time I warned of the impending disaster that would result in the creation of a third party. To use some of the language popular with the current administration this would be a Tea Party equivalent to the “Nuclear Option.” The result would be a split vote that would turn the keys over to liberals for yet another term.
Before I go further I must clarify that Americans for Prosperity, 9/12 groups, and in many cases Tea Parties share the same doctrine and values. There are thousands of these groups that are autonomous and effective organizations in their own right. I respect these organizations and fully understand the importance of working with them as separate, viable entities in our fight for liberty.
Under the Constitution we band together as individual voters that govern individually with our ballots, this is our only legal tie. Grassroots voters harness power via their collective ballots, which captures the attention of organizations like the RNC. The RNC has a role similar to that of a labor union speaking on behalf of Republican candidates. Collective bargaining is the RNC’s desired result, as they want to harness the power of the massive grassroots organizing effort undertaken by so many Americans and their votes. We don’t have to negotiate with the RNC.
The Tea Parties, Americans for Prosperity, and 9/12 are not required under any law to participate in collective bargaining with anyone and should qualify each candidate based on their own merits. There is no such thing as a pure candidate that can embody all of the legislative views of the millions of conservative and independent Americans. This is why we need to work within the two party system to vet candidates that will honor the wishes of conservative, grassroots Americans.
How do we do this? Most importantly we continue to do all of the things we have been doing successfully for the past twelve months. We vet local, state, and national candidates and issues and fight for fair and equitable legislation that honors our constitution.
As we move forward we must support resources like the Ensuring Liberty PAC and others designed to work parallel to and in sync with our movements to achieve specific goals. ELPAC for example is built on conservative, Tea Party principles.
The Ensuring Liberty PAC was designed to ensure the election of Tea Party candidates giving them the strength in numbers to stand alone in Congress and to govern without the fear of strong-arm tactics by career legislators that have served for decades amassing dangerous levels of power and payback. This approach provides the people with a large group of 15-20 Congressional candidates already vetted by the principles they support. It’s that simple. The Tea Parties are separate entities offering support to a group whose only purpose by design is to place a Tea Party Caucus in Congress. Shouldn’t everyday Americans be working to build their base and support in Congress? ELPAC is built on the principles of the Tea Party’s, by Tea Partiers. I have been a Tea Partier since the movement was born. In my opinion, we should make ourselves better supervisors of our employees in Congress through education, accountability, and strategy. If we put these people in Congress their only indebtedness is to “We the People.”

We don't have to negotiate with the RNC, or anybody else. When you have "right" on your side, is a powerful tool. Right, and truth will prevail. It is time the RNC, and Washington come to grips with that. It is time to take our country back.

If your priority is Israel and war for Israel and going bankrupt for Israel, you are not part of the liberty movement. This will define the difference between the Tea Party movement and the globalists in the moribund GOP.

Organizers must come to realize as any midwife the creation is separate. The movement will not 'split' votes, it will bring the parties back to the core, or they will be marginalized.

This is going to be fun to watch. When the teaparty hate and fear get inside the Republican party there is going to be a lot of push back. Republicans know they need you, but they also know you are poison for attracting minorities, women or undecided voters.
I don't think you will actually become a political party, because if you did your corporate money would dry up and you would be crushed like bugs. But I do think you articulate the feelings of a very vocal minority who has the potential of splitting the Republicans. Or at least making their lives miserable.

For years and years the RNC has said that Conservatives and Conservative Libertarians had to vote with them or "we" would lose.
It is time for the RNC take notice of the fact it is they who must vote with us, or they will lose. It is not us splitting the vote, it is their quasi liberal progressive sect that must realize it no longer has the support of the people who have long voted (R) just to vote (R).
It is said over and over that this country is center right, for the most part. Who do folks think make up this center right? Conservative Libertarians are what makes up what the media calls the independents.
Most of us just want to be able to exercise our own rights, on our own decision, and be left alone to do so.
My favorite Town Hall meeting participant was a man who told Arlen Spectre quite simply – We just want you (government) to leave us alone.
It really is this simple. Government must return to Constitutional operation by understanding that a great deal of what they do is not within their authority to do. This is the most basic goal of all the Liberty based groups.

The Tea Party is going to go through politics, like Sherman went through the South.
Steele is the only one with any negotiating to do. The dilemma for Steele and the old guard Republicans is that there is nobody within the tea party movement for them to negotiate with! The movement doesn't require a "head" for them to cut their sleazy deals with and they really don't know what to make of the situation. There simply isn't a central figure, or two, or three for them to beat on. You can't pound millions of people into line one at a time… and the old guard Republicans are at as much of a loss as the Democrats are for a strategy to deal with the tea party movement. Steele recognizes the problem. He just can't find a suitable solution.
The worst thing that can happen for the movement is to become a centralized entity. Don't give them a solution.
The solution is simple. The RNC needs to back a Tea Party/Libertarian/Constitutional candidate. The Tea Party doesn't need the RNC. The RNC DOES need the Tea Party. No negotiation needs to take place. If the Tea Party is behind Medina in Texas, the RNC should back her. If the Tea Party is behind Joe the Plumber anywhere, the RNC needs to get behind him. Its that simple.

Progressives never want the debate to be had, for they lose it when they allow it to play out. Hence their game plan is to disallow it at all costs.
We have our work cut out just taking over the Republican party. But, in terms of long range planning, the Tea Party should be thinking about taking over the Democratic Party too. Not even one of our two major parties should be "progressive" in America.
The Left is resorting to the same tactics they used to defeat McCain. Just as they characterized McCain as just another version of Bush (after bashing bush for 8 years) they are now characterizing the Tea Party as just an extension of the GOP/RNC. They, of course, know it's not but business as usual for them means "whatever it takes".
The Tea Party must do everything it can to stand apart from either of the major political parties. Just as Obama has found himself distancing himself from the democrats the Tea Party also must keep it's distance from those corrupt machines that have raised the ire of the entire nation. Neither Party has the peoples interests at heart and neither party is passionate enough about us to justify any second thoughts about their motives. Each party exists solely for itself and it's share of power in government. Neither is representative of the will of the people and therefor both must be reigned in if we are to see our government return to operating within the framework of the constitution rather than laws of their own makings for their own sakes.
Exactly right, as a few others have said. I no longer donate to a party, I look at each race and evaluate the candidates. Those most in line with smaller government, honoring the constitution, and reversing the national deficit trend get my money.

Any politician who proclaims proudly that he is “ . . . remaking America . .” is by definition a Yertle. Yertle as you point out was a totalitarian despot, but not at first. At first he was King of the pond, but he was not satisfied and wanted more power, and to get it he coerced other turtles to act in his interest, and against their self interest. President Obama is doing the exact same thing, he’s just doing it with a smile. Thus, any official who seeks to induce me to operate against my rational self interest, and the liberty of others, are “Yertles.” I do not need to remind my fellow letter writers how citizens used far worse with regard to President Bush; they compared him to Hitler, I am just returning the favor. Where was Mr. XXXXXX respect for the office then?
Even a casual observer of history ought to be able to see that in the not to distant future we will face massive military challenges. As I write these words Kim Jung Whackjob is in the process of transferring his power over to the military with a new nuclear toy to overrun South Korea, Communist China is attempting to build a blue water nuclear powered Navy, Pakistan is on the cusp being overrun by Islamo Facists AKA “The Taliban,” Saudi Arabia faces a daily threat from a growing Wahhabist faction and Iran calls for the destruction of Israel like you or I would order a beer and chicken wings at the Blazer. Against this backdrop Mr. Obama goes around the world apologizing for America, and failing to unapologetically illustrate the gift we’ve given the world at the enormous price of blood and treasure; in an old envelope I have pieces of my grandfathers bones, and the screws and plates that held him together while in the hospital, and the memory of a man who never woke from the horror that is war, and a diary with neat and careful lines crossing out all the friends he lost along the way. I witness Secretary Gates intone how we have no military option to deny Iran nuclear weapons in open session on C-Span. Mr. XXXXX if you were running Iran how would you react to that? If you were running Israel how would you react to that? One nuclear blast and Israel will not recover and she will have only fifteen minutes warning. The closer America gets to either being unwilling or unable to fight the closer actual war is. Peace through strength is the only hope we have ever had.
As far as your assertion that I should treat President Obama as if I were in uniform and not a civilian; Americans owe no duty to the President. Quite the opposite in fact. I’ve very little respect for Mr. Obama or the way he practices politics. Any President who without a second thought takes private property and treats it as his own for political purposes is not to be respected he is to be feared and rejected. For Mr. Obama has revealed himself to have no self governing limits on his authority, let alone respect for Constitutional ones. We are in for a long trip and those who share my philosophy are not in power Mr. XXXXXX; those who share yours are, let us see how that philosophy works in the next 550 or so days. We will then go to the ballot box and decide if we want more of it; Will the world be a more peaceful place? Will prosperity return to our shores and be balanced on the rock of fiscal responsibility or my children's mastercard? Will Mr. Obama’s route to comity among nations through apology work? Will private companies be allowed to run as they see fit or will capital by allocated for political purposes? Will States be able to decide if they do or do not want abortions, same sex marriage or a whole panoply of issues on their own; or must they to be cowed by the President and activist federal judges? Will rising taxes be the answer to our budgetary woes or will tax receipts shrink as taxes rise? Will Vice President Biden ever stop shooting off his mouth like Mr. Cheney on a quail hunt? I have a strong sense as to what is on the way and answers to these questions – but I may be wrong. I am an open minded fellow and think that people ought to live as they see fit so long as it’s not in my living room or on my front lawn or pounded into my child's head at school.
Mr. XXXXXX if I do one day run for office and am unlucky enough to win I will remind you of your words if I pass by. I will not be looking for a salute, only a handshake because when all is said and done we’re Americans! As Lincoln said in 1858 “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

I'm doubtful. The next election is going to turn on the economy. Republicans will try and make it about Obama and Democrats will go back to the Bush well one more time, but in the end it will be jobs that decide the fate of politicians. Where the teaparty can make a difference is in 2012 when their hate gets a truly national stage.

Michael Steele doesn't seem to seriously understand the gravity of out predicament. He never shows
up on tv, unless there is some extremely partisan flap between the parties, D & R. I really don't think
he has a clue how to use his position to move the GOP forward. He speaks well in public forums, &
I've never worried about him sticking his foot in his mouth, but I don't see any connection between
him & the folks currently serving in Congress. Shouldn't there be a working relationship between Steele
& the Republicans in the House & Senate? If he can co-opt the Tea Party momentum seems to me he
can come out smelling like a rose after doing very little work. For all I know he's not supposed to be
high profile. Maybe under the radar is preferred for GOP Chairman. What was Steeles' involvment in the
Dede Scozaflava affair. That was certainly bungled.
As is usually stated, the GOP needs to stay out of our bedrooms and the Dems need to stay out of every other room in our homes and lives. Washington's job is to protect the borders to provide a safe country for citizens to thrive and prosper. The state's job is to provide the legal structures needed to provide central services that MAKE SENSE. The rest should be handled by local communities to keep as much control local to the people as possible.

You love the Constitution like a baby loves his mother. You have not developed a mature, adult relationship with our founding document. Just like mommy is perfect, incapable of sin, the Constitution to you is unerring and timeless.
Well, it is not perfect, and either were the founding fathers, most of whom were slave owners and wrote this abomination into the document. It has continued to evolve through the Amendment process and the courts and is a better document today than it was 200 years ago. The process is slow and at times painful.
The fissures we see in the Democratic party are over policy. What the teaparty brings to the Republican party is an ideological divide and a purity test that the middle of the party will not be able to pass, and they will resent the steady drumbeat of, "We are the real patriots, only we love the Constitution, only we are the true Americans".
The Tea Party needs to remain independent. The enemy of this country are progressive/ liberals in either party. The place to exert our strength is in the primaries, run conservatives against RINOs like – - Hayworth v McCain, pull them towards conservative real American principles. But once the primary is over coalesce behind the candidate, and once they are elected remain vigilant, keeping them conservative in their governance. IMO it will take several election cycles to remedy this mess.

It is frustration… over losing an election to a black man. Just ten years ago none of us would have thought it possible given the racial tensions in our country. Great work. We are damn lucky to have you on our side. I love the description of "collective bargaining" by the RNC. That's exactly what they want. The GOP is acting like it did in 1978, when Ronald Reagan was about to take over the party. They're in denial.
When the Tea Party and 9-12ers and the rest of this patriotic coalition takes back Congress on November 2, I hope we don't forget that our work is only beginning. We can't just retreat back to our caves and let the Democrats or the Republican grifters pour back in.
The Federal Government was created as an agent of the states, not the other way around. Embrace that concept and let it guide everything you do legislatively. Rebrand the G.O.P. to stand for 'Government Of the People'. The Tea Party is protecting and promulgating the American People's interests and is only necessary because The Republican Party forgot who they work for. It is necessary that they do not cleve to any party, but rather be the voice of the people, if you want the support of the people, first LISTEN to them, and move to do what they want, and it will all work out.

The democrats are losing votes, but that isn't necessarily adding votes to the GOP. People are wary of the GOP now that they have been shown to lie and cheat with the best of them. i don't want a liar or a cheater and I think a lot of other people feel the same way.

It's only been a year, and we won't know if his agenda is working unless we try it. So far the Republican minority has been pretty successful at blocking votes on his initiatives. So to say his agenda is not working is a disingenuous and misleading.

He has a socialist agenda. He acts like an elitist. As far as statist goes, here is the definition of statism: "statism means the direction and control of economic and social affairs by the state. The practices included: investment in public enterprises; centralized economic planning; the regulation of employment; and other price-distorting interventions in the market." Medina was formerly a prominent supporter of Ron Paul. Read her website, also read between the
lines, something about her having a lawsuit that wasn't quite clear to me. By the time I got to it I had
already made my decision on her, so didn't probe further. She claims to be a long-time GRASSROOTS
REPUBLICAN organizer. I wasn't aware Republicans needed or wanted or had this type of organizers.
I did my research long before Medina stepped in the steaming pile of crap Beck dropped before her.
I had head her interviewed on radio, Pratt on Texas, & became curious.

As long as you have the Beck's of the world carrying out the bosses orders to conduct disingenuous hit-jobs on salt of the earth candidates like Medina in Texas, the independent thinking among us [the "silent majority" that is now the "grass roots"] astutely see right through the hypocrisy and reject what is being peddled as "DNC" or "GOP" platforms. Word spreads fast among the "grass roots", word of mouth is filtered by opinions among people that have established trust, so the media conglomerate dictates have far less impact because these grass roots have zero trust for them. It appears the fragmentation of the grass roots organizations have common understanding that the DNC, GOP and MEDIA, each and together, are nothing but corrupt, and thus, equate to an enemy from within. I for one, will be very surprised if there is a "GOP family reunion" this year.

The mouths for the RNC are not doing the conservative base any favors by trying to co-opt the Tea Party. The RINO's have been promoting the paradigm for so long that they can't see that the Tea Party movement is trying to force both parties back to Constitutional principles.
As far as Newt's idea for another Contract with America goes, he is flat out wrong. Our elected officials have a contract with America, it's called the Oath of Office. I'm still waiting for Sean to apologize for asking, or begging the Republican's to switch parties during the primary to vote against Hillary, The Stop Hillary Express. That initiative helped give the conservatives a RINO nominee named McCain.

I've long been an independent who leaned libertarian. But I also try to be a pragmatist. Things are never, ever simple. History has long shown that. I like a lot of what the Tea Party movement suggests. I would love for government to leave me be. Especially my local government. But I don't feel like the movement's very well defined yet. Nor do many of the people bunching to it seem to really know exactly what they want except small government.
I think if the movement is going to move forward it needs to start hashing out the specifics. And since the movement is composed of us every day people gathering around cause, it's up to us to figure out exactly what those specifics are.

Even those who opposed slavery caved to the demands of slave states to get a document to sign. I don't blame them for that because we needed a Constitution to underpin the new country, but didn't have the votes to exclude slavery from the colonies.
