Democrats Attack Small Business Owner for Speaking Out Against Obama’s Policies
by Sean MahoneyThe liberal Democrats in New Hampshire have sunk to a new low. They are smearing a private citizen in the press because he opposes the Obama-Pelosi agenda. I’ve never really seen anything like it, but I fear it is emblematic of what will happen to other small business owners who are suffering from Obama’s policies.
Last Thursday I held a press conference in my race for Congress in New Hampshire’s First Congressional District with a gentleman named Alan Silberberg, whose auto dealership was shut down arbitrarily by Chrysler, Obama’s “car czar” and his “Auto Task Force.” The purpose of the press conference was to demonstrate how Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and my Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter’s policies are destroying our economy.
It’s important to know that Alan wasn’t shut down because his business was failing. He was shut down because the government’s policies put his business on the chopping block without transparency and without accountability. To let people know how he felt, Alan painted a sign on his storefront that reads, “This business now closed because of Obama’s economics.”
Folks don’t need to listen to me or to Alan. They can listen to Neil Barofsky the special inspector general for TARP:
The Obama administration’s push to accelerate General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC dealership closings, aimed at helping the companies compete, may not have been necessary and added to unemployment, a U.S. watchdog said.
The Treasury Department should have considered whether speeding up the closings was worth the potential loss of tens of thousands of jobs, according to a report released yesterday by Neil Barofsky, special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program. The U.S. had rejected reorganization plans from the carmakers in March 2009, in part citing a “slow pace” for GM to scale back its dealer network.
“Such dramatic and accelerated dealership closings may not have been necessary and underscores the need for Treasury to tread very carefully when considering such decisions in the future,” Barofsky concluded.
The report may prompt congressional criticism of the administration’s handling of the automaker bailouts. Lawmakers have already complained about the job losses in their districts from dealership closings and the process by which retailers were selected for shutdowns.
Of course, the Democrats attacked me in the press for having the guts to stand up to Obama’s policies. I’m a candidate for Congress. I expected it and I can handle it.
But I didn’t expect them to attack Alan.
He’s not a candidate for any office. He’s not even involved in politics. He’s a small business owner who got railroaded by the Democrats’ economic train wreck. Yet that’s what the New Hampshire Democratic Party did – they distributed a press release attacking Alan, attempting to damage his personal credibility.
Think about it: First their economic policies robbed this man of his livelihood and then when he objected to their policies they personally attacked him.
This entire episode is symptomatic of Washington’s contempt for the very small business owners and working families who power our economy. They would rather have the government run the every industry. That’s why they are driving up the debt while spending trillions on bailouts, the failed stimulus and Obama’s government run health care.
Worse still, my concern is that such bullying tactics will prevent others from speaking out on their own behalf in the future. So I’m here to provide some comfort to those small business owners and working families who are suffering under this administration’s policies. There is a whole group of us conservatives who stand behind you. Many of us are running for office this year. And if we win – when we win – we are serious about repairing the economic damage Obama and his liberal allies have brought to our economy.
We are going to fight to repeal ObamaCare. We’re going to stop the bailouts. We’re going to cut government spending to reduce the debt and budget deficits. We aren’t like the Republicans you are used to; those who run as heirs to President Reagan but govern as Jimmy Carter. We are conservative and we aim to make a real difference in Washington.

It's my understanding that many if not most of the dealerships that were and are targeted for closure were either owned by Republicans or failed to donate to Obama's presidential campaign. Just as the majority of the TARP and stimulus funds have gone to districts that supported Obama so to is the favoritism towards business owners. As we have already seen this administration has no respect or mercy for those who do bow down and submit.
The propaganda piece put out by the New Hampshire Democrats is so full of lies and propaganda that it is laughable. TARP is pro-business? Hardly a dime has been spent on private businesses other than short term pork project contracts. We are seeing a second repaving of our local stretch of interstate in a year, thanks to TARP. Totally a waste of money. The government has grown rather fat though. A candidate who can and will stand for the conservative principles that our founding fathers and Reagan envisioned will have my vote and support. One that promises that and then does a McCain will never have my support.
These personal attacks are good news for Conservatives. The Dems will continue to shoot themselves in the feet until they're up to their eyeballs in sidewalk.

The economics Obama and Bush put in place enabled the savior of the auto manufactures. Your friend Alan was shut down because his profits came from Chrysler, AT A COST TO CHRYSLER. The favor you would do your cronie friend Alan is no different than the favor you would do the wealthy by punting their tax bills and keeping the path to borrowing going.
Anyone who's followed the auto makers knows the dealerships have been a huge liability that could only be dealt with in bankruptcy. If GM and Chrysler can be more profitable with fewer dealers, than more power to them and at least this aspect of the free-market. They are the one who've wanted to do this for the longest time, not Obama, you Marxist fool.
The only "history" that is taught today is that Christoher Columbus was a mass murderer. They also haven't taught economics for at least a generation. We're seeing the product of this right now in Washington and sadly, in the voters that put them there.
No worries, Obama has worked everything out. He's extended unemployment. Obamanomics: destroy high paying real jobs with a $300/week unemployment check with borrowed money from China. Krugman says this is great economic policy.
I blame Mr. Silberberg for this. He obviously just doesn't know what is good for him, nor does he appreciate the hard work that the obama administration is doing. He just doesn't realize how smart these people are.

I get so many "shadows" from just the Big sites and RedState, I had to run both a full Norton scan and AdAware every time I'd been on-line; I finally downloaded a 'fix' from CleanMyPC. Most of the critters are tracking cookies, but a couple of those interfere with normal operation of my system, and there've been a few virus attachments that were kept from doing damage but were "hiding" in my system (Norton kept them neutered but didn't get rid of them – the fix finally did get them deleted). It's still kind of a pain, because I have to run the "clean" fix and its malware-finder daily. I'm not certain this is connected, but my 'glitch' problems started about the time RedState had a blog diary about finding evidence a government-contracted 'security' outfit had been culling site user info from that site. That was a few months ago, and I did 'test' by clearing everything off my system, going on-line and only to RedState, then again running the scans. Pay dirt, unless something was lurking on my home page.

Every major accounting package, locally installed or run as a service, large or small, has already been modified by its authors to comply by storing TIN for one's vendors and displaying it on invoices. They are also capable of generating 1099's as part of end-of-year closing. If you're paying maintenance for your software and receiving updates, it's a no-brainer; if you're not, you flunked the intelligence test and deserve to fail.

In addition to repealing Obamacare, we need to be talking about how we're going to replace it – one suggestion, from a guy with a chronic health condition, is to expand HSAs.
Also, in addition to tax cuts, we should talk about tax simplification, IMHO. I might suggest a "system reset" for the IRS, returning to the original 1913 income tax forms. They were five pages long including three pages of instructions, if memory serves.
