Conservative Principles Will Defeat Harry Reid
by Sue LowdenRonald Reagan once quipped that when you start referring to government as “we” instead of “they,” you have been in office too long. Not only is Senator Harry Reid referring to his liberal majority in Washington as “we,” he complains to reporters about the “smell” of American taxpayers when they visit our nation’s Capitol. Harry Reid has been in Washington far too long.

While families struggle in the face of rising unemployment, the housing crisis, and falling income, Harry Reid has chosen to carry out the bidding of Washington’s special interests and his party’s extreme liberal base. He has proven to be completely out-of-touch with overburdened taxpayers in my home state of Nevada. Currently, Nevada leads the nation in home foreclosures and we are second in the nation in unemployment. And despite Harry’s promises, Nevadans continue to lose their jobs and homes.
In 2004, voters held another out-of-touch Senate Democrat Leader accountable for failing the American people and his constituents. It took the right leadership, conservative principles and the support of conservatives from across the nation to defeat Tom Daschle. Now we have the chance to do it again.
As the opponent in the Republican primary that Harry Reid has attacked by name, I am the candidate that Harry Reid fears the most. Polls from Rasmussen Reports, Mason-Dixon, and even Daily Kos show me defeating Harry Reid by as much as 10 points. As the front-runner in the Republican primary election, I can defeat Harry Reid.
But this campaign is not just about Harry Reid, it is about electing a common sense, conservative advocate to the U.S. Senate. While a number of Republicans have announced their intentions to run in the 2010 Republican primary, it is critically important that our eventual nominee have a strong record in fighting for conservative values and the ability to actually win in November.
In 1992, a year Bill Clinton won in Nevada, I filed for office against a powerful, longtime Democrat incumbent in a nearly 3-to-1 Democratic district. My opponent that year wasn’t just any senator: he was the Majority Leader of the State Senate, who previously served as the Speaker of the Nevada Assembly. Despite his powerful position, I outworked him and beat him, switching the Nevada State Senate control from the Democrats to the Republicans by just one vote.
After running on my conservative principles, I was immediately voted into Senate leadership by my Republican colleagues as Senate Majority Whip and Chairman of the Senate Taxation Committee.
I took strong stands against those legislators and special interests seeking higher taxes and government fees. When pro-tax legislators tried to run higher taxes through the committee, I shut it down, earning the committee the nickname the “Senate NO-TAXATION Committee.” When the union bosses tried to force unionization, I served as the deciding vote in the Nevada State Senate to protect Nevada’s Right-to-Work status. I was also one of the original architects of Nevada’s Charter School law and the author of legislation requiring parental notification for parents of children seeking abortions.
When I announced my candidacy for the U.S. Senate, I proudly signed the ATR Taxpayer Pledge to not raise taxes and said I would join with Senate conservatives in fighting for earmark reform, as well as tax and spending cuts. I made it clear that I am a strong opponent to the pork-laden Reid/Pelosi stimulus/spending bill they passed earlier this year.
While I am running on my solidly conservative record, I am not a career politician. I am a successful businesswoman who, over the last several years, has seen an opportunity to serve and has found the right answers to our challenges in common sense, conservative principles.
Harry Reid’s answer is to take more money out of the pockets of taxpayers and bring those dollars to Washington. He believes that Washington having and spending that money is more effective than leaving it here for families to decide how to spend it. I strongly disagree.
As a mother and grandmother, I want a better future for our kids and grandkids. Washington cannot and will not provide that better future. The CBO already projects $12 trillion of deficits over the next 10 years – and that is before Harry Reid helps pass the government takeover of health care. In December of 2009, the Congress and Harry Reid will have to vote to increase our nation’s debt limit. No doubt, they’ll support that effort so they can continue to spend more and run our nation further into debt.
I have taken on an entrenched, powerful politician in a difficult district — and I have won. Nobody else in the Republican Primary can say that. I have served our taxpayers as a conservative legislator, and I have been effective in fighting for conservative principles. I am asking you to join my campaign and help defeat Harry Reid. Please join the fight now by signing up at www.SueLowden.com

If only I lived in Nevada you'd get my vote.
Good luck! We'll be rooting for you here in the Old Dominion.
Congress desperately needs people who actually understand finance and the realities of making businesses grow rather than those who are guided by academic economists. Neither those in Congress (most of them, anyway) nor the economists appear to have ever had bottom line responsibility and they do not appear to understand that you should not spend money you do not already have.
Our lives are not X/Y axes on an economist's blackboard. They are reality. I, for one, would like to see Congress get a healthy dose of that reality and start acting more responsibly as they make decisions that will affect our children's futures.
I can even stand the sight of that horrible little man.
"he has proven to be completely out-of-touch with overburdened taxpayers in my home state of Nevada. Currently, Nevada leads the nation in home foreclosures and we are second in the nation in unemployment"
Sue Lowden, Nevada's problems you list seem more to do with local administration, and may be rooted in their choice of governor Jim Gibbons (R).
If you must punish the senate for state politics, then would not senator,John Ensign(R) share half the blame?
HM.
Well that would depend on his voting record now wouldn't it?
Morning Scott…
Always nice to see you- it helps remind me daily that the opposition is still closed minded, partisan, and actively engaged in a prolonged campaign of division. You know, probably the best thing about having you here is this- every time you tap the keyboard, your bias shines so brightly that no one can mistake your intentions, and we can then either ignore you or engage you in active debate (unlike our current president or administration, who dodge and hustle and go against the will of the people at a whim).
Your statement is misguided- Harry Reid is the head of the snake when it comes to waste, fraud, corruption, and political strong arming- I thought your party was supposed to lead the most transparent, least corrupt government of all time, right? In fact, I can produce audio of Nancy Pelosi saying so much…
Just so you are aware, I am not a hater- I like having you here. I just pity you your ignorance…
Good luck to you. You can beat this trite little man. Run a positive, ideas campaign. Hit him hard on the issues. Don't fall into the cesspool that he will try to drag you into. Be firm and concise. Stand up for American values and the future. Don't be dour and defeatist.
You can do it.
Good luck from Virginia Sue! For Nevada's sake and the sake of our country, I HOPE and PRAY you win!
I don't live in Nevada…but she has my vote anyway
Dingy Reid, like Red Queen Nanny Pelosi, are two of the dumbest people to ever walk the earth. When they exhale their last fetid breath, we'll be well rid of them. They can join Ted Drunkennedy in the 9th level of hell, reserved for traitors and democrats. (Oops, I repeat myself.)

The RISE OF THE RIGHT!
Harry is an embarrassment. Sue should be able to clean his clock.
I'll send a check to Reid's political opponent. Reid should leave all politics forever.
To that Scott dude… you need to understand why your state is so f'd up. It ain't from the local level that caused those 2 woes you mentioned.
I've never seen a time like this where people are so concerned about campaigns outside their own districts/states. So many of us have been sending $$ to the other side of the country in hopes of ousting this corrupt government!
I would love to give Sue my vote, but alas I will have to send money instead…I will call my uncle and make sure he votes for her though!

"Harry Reid is the head of the snake when it comes to waste, fraud, corruption, and political strong arming"
wouldn't that be the other senator from Nevada, Ensign(R), who has an affair with his staffer's wife, gave a job to her unqualified son whose salary was paid for by political donations to the RNC, and then had his parents pay out 100k in hush money?
Hm. Just something to ponder when you talk about fraud, waste, corruption…
Once upon a time in February 2009 the editor of our local paper asked me to weigh in on how to recharge our economy. He, like Harry Reid, could only see options that involved investing more power in the central government. After reading Sue Lowden’s opinion piece today I went back and re-read the piece. It is interesting to note that nothing has changed in nine months, despite the efforts of the politburo inside the beltway. We are in our 77th year of rule by the Democrats. Maybe a real change can occur next year.

well then let's see it!
Sue Lowden runs a thinly disguised hatchet job.
signing a "No-Tax" treaty without signing a "spending cut and program freeze" treaty simply means budget deficits go up. this is the exact opposite of fiscal conservatism.
but it means lower taxes for you right now (the future be damned!), so it's got your support,am i right?
ACORN has a long history of helping votes by the busload in other districts.
Not that I would approve of Sen Ensign's conduct, but none of that appears to have been public money.
The supporters of dirty Harry are just like him. They are trolls for tyranny.
the money that employed the mistress' son was political donations.
Are we suddenly only worried about clear and irrefutable patterns and practices of fraud, waste, and corruption when public funds are at stake?
If he runs his own personal life like that, how much respect do you think he has for others'?
The title of this post is spot-on. What the go-along-get-along Republicans, who care more about power than about principles, fail to grasp is that limited government (that which protects rights rather than spreads wealth) isn't a matter preference: It's rooted in principles that work. Freedom fosters prosperity; forced wealth redistribution squelches prosperity. We need more people in Congress who understand this fundamental concept and fewer whose arrogant presumption that government is somehow the sponsor of our prosperity leads them to disastrous schemes like bail-outs, stimulus plans, and land grabs (Kelo).

I got an idea, VOTE THEM BOTH OUT! Let's clean house and get some competent, fiscally responsible people in office all over the country. Would that help you stop pointing fingers at "the other guy"? It doesn't matter whether they are "D"s or "R"s, if they are not of the same conservative bent as I am, they won't get my vote, period.
Political donations are DONATIONS, money freely given by a person without the threat of confiscation of property of loss of liberty for failure to pay it. This is unlike public funds which are taxes pay under the threat of government reprisal. So, the patterns are more of my concern when they are public funds.
On the broader question of whether the manner in which people lead their private lives reflects on whether they are fit to hold public office, I would tend to agree. For example a person who seduces an intern in his office, has a sexual relationship with her, and then denies it both publicly and under oath, would be, in my opinion, unfit to be President of the United States. A Senator who drives drunk off a bridge, killing his passenger, and then runs off and fails to notify police, would also be unfit.
I trust that the people of Nevada will judge Senator Ensign as they see fit when he is up for election. But his position is of far less national significance that Sen. Reid. Right now, Reid is the head of the snake.
Amazing, before I even read the blogs my first reaction was "sign me up." Where can I send a donation? Anything to get this pompous idiot Reid out of office!
Of course! When the subject comes up about Harry Reid's conduct, your natural inclination is to OBFUSCATE by diverting attention to someone else and attributing their behavior to the arguement in question. Here, lets BOTH play at this game (and then, get back on track)- Barney Frank's gay lover was running a prostitution ring out of his house and growing pot in his back yard, and yet somehow you think this is OK? (see what I did there? I made YOU responsible for Barney Frank's actions, and now if you want to continue, you must defend him, right?)
Fact remains, Harry Reid is on record lying to the american people (I submitted our bill to the CBO and then when called out on it, admitted that there IS no bill) and also on record insulting the american public (with his "I can smell them on a hot day" comment). Now, you can say that he has a right to say it with impunity if you like, but remember, Carrie Prejean did the same and has been CRUCIFIED by the people on your side of the spectrum for doing just that and she wasn't even in a position of authority- After all, isn't todays modern Democrat all about INCLUSION and FAIRNESS?
Amen. I dont see a single headed snake though, I see a medusa. We got to burn the stump after cutting of the head. To do that, we have to make sure the replacements are just more of the same.
American's in general have been complacent for too long. Arise sleeping giant and speak, don't roll over and go back to sleep.
With the continuing mistreatment of Gov. Sarah Palin or Rep. Michele Bachmann, you'd suspect that smart, conservative women wouldn't run for higher office. Obviously that type of intimidation doesn't work with you. We need more people of conviction to stand up to the condescending, bigoted left. I don't live in Nevada so I cannot vote for you. I'll be busy in Indiana working to oust Sen. Evan Bayh (the so called fiscal conservative who voted for the stimulus).
Good Luck with your primary Sue, you've already earned my admiration.
The people in Nevada and California have the huge responsibility to get rid of Reid, Boxer, Feinstein and Pelosi. Making those changes will transform our nation back to a better place for all!
When I see morons like Harry Reid I think we really need Term Limits. We The People will impose Term Limits on Harry in 2010.
Great story on Reid. We have posted it on our national page.
Keep up the good work Sue!

I'm a Nevadan and this woman doesn't have my vote. She also fails to mention that she's a moderate who has given money to Harry Reid.
Sue, Please Send self styled Baron Reid back to Nevada. Just do me a favor, When you get to Washington, always keep a staffer on hand that daily reminds you of why you are there, and who put you there. We lost too many Conservitives to the beltway, party and social circuit.
The best of luck to you in the campaign. It’s important for the voters to remember that a split Republican vote will re-elect this idiot Reid. Due Lowden has proven that she’s a true conservative and in this case the one with the R after her name should get the vote. In the case of NY-23 Hoffman would have been the one I voted for. We are going to have to look at each race individually and determine whether the I or the R candidate is the more conservative and hopefully win with that decision. I no longer march in lockstep with the Republicans, you now have to earn my vote as I won’t vote straight party anymore until and unless the GOP purges it’s ranks of RINO’s and Dem Lite candidates. This is how we will get the point across to the Steele’s and Gingrich’s of the party. I want them to think twice before ever nominating a Scozzy candidate ever again.
aww nuts, I meant to write Sue Lowden no Due Lowden. PIMF!
EJRussell3, I'm with you. People outside Nevada, understand we have a lively Republican primary shaping up. Don't give money to Sue just yet. She bungled the Repub convention and alienated every Ron Paul voter in the state. They have formed a PAC and are after her head. Let us hash out the details; there's still plenty of time to put money against Harry Reid.
Who hasn't given money to Harry Reid? Maybe she doesn't deserve your vote. Instead of urinating on a tree outside the strip club why not man up and say who you are voting for so you intentions can be qualified.
Otherwise. One might 'jump to conclude' you are a big union boy. Just sayin'. If it were possible to cut Massachusetts, California and Nevada adrift then perhaps the fate of the Union wouldn't be so dire.
Wake up nevada! get behind this woman and kick Ried out! he's a big part of the problem and replacing him is just one step but cirtical one. Once this woman os in office don't let up on your vigilance. Hold her feet to the fire and make her do what is right by the people not the party or her own self interest. She's talking a good game but far too many have talked the talk but failed to walk the walk. Give her you vote and then hold her accountable. This would be an excellent step towards taking back our country from the loons that now infest our nations captial. Wake up America and Nevada before theres no longer an America!
Feinstein and Pelosi are embedded in the Socialist Bay Republic of Northern California, while the rest of the state votes in a conservative mode, the city populations of Hell A and San Francisco wipe out the outer lying vote, DeMint has it right, term limit these fools out.
I see, but when Bill Clinton "runs his own personal life like that", it's no one's business and we are supposed to respect his privacy, right? Hypocrisy and dishonesty is the liberal vermin's stock in trade, right pal?
None of which cost the taxpayers anything. Since when does adultery bother Democrats?
I am a Nevadan and I agree with you ejrussell3. I found donations of 6,000, read of donations of $8,000 and heard the figure is $10,000. That's the max and indicates strong support. That spells RINO. I have never donated to Harry. Also, I am NOT a Ron Paul supporter but what Lowden did by shutting down the state convention so Paul could not win the nomination because he had the most delegates was underhanded, and WRONG. Lowden said time was up but I saw the Paul supporters with the casino manager in tow who was saying they could continue and did not have to vacate. Yes, I like to win, but I like to do it fairly.
Harry Reid is Mr Clean from the old days before the ownership changed to the corporate level. That's all I'm saying, it's up to you guys to dig deeper. Find the old videotape from the gaming commision hearing with Lefty…you'll see….it's out there.
Virginia, there is another contender she'll have to face in the Rep primary. His name is Danny and he is a good man. Proud Son of the State of Nevada…
Is she married? Darn she's cute…wait a minute! I'm sooo glad to be a conservative, we get ALL the good looking women (sorry libs, but your chicks just ain't cuttin it!)
If Sue is a true contender, she'll have to call out Sig and the rest of the republicans for Reid. It won't be a cake walk.
You're a mean one, Nancy P.
You really are a heel.
You're as cuddly as a cactus,
You're as charming as an eel.
Nancy P.
You're a bad banana With a greasy black peel.
Indeed…corruption goes back forever…the mob in all its forms (one being ACORN another the Unions among others) have influenced elections.
I just haven't seen honest people so passionately mobilize like this in my lifetime.
AMEN!
Right now our slate of candidates for Senate are less than desirable. Don't insult me and my intelligence by thinking someone else is going to jump to conclusions because of my post considering that one hasn't done so yet. Since you called me out on whom I'd like to see potentially running it's tough to say. Sharron Angle is far more conservative but I haven't exactly seen anything from her yet that would make me cast a vote her way. Oh and Sharron Angle has never given money to Harry Reid.
Isnt Danny Tarkanian, former point guard at UNLV and son of former UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian(Tark the Shark) the one running against Disgusting Harry Greed? From what Ive read, Danny is a good conservative who has no love for Harry or Nasty the Bolshevik b**ch Pelosi. I sure hope so. Harry needs the DASS HOLE treatment without the strings(healthcare from Kevorkian anyone?) attached.
The Hoffman race may not be over. The local Sec/state will not certify the race. Apparently Owens is ahead by 3000 votes, but 10,200 absentee ballots have not been counted. Most of those are from Fort Drum, home of the 10th mountain division, the likelihood is fairly good most of those ballots would go for Hoffman. If that is the case, Owens would have to be removed.
What about Danny Tarkanian?
Evan Bayh a conservative? If Evan Bayh has EVER been a conservative, then Robert KKK Byrd has NEVER been a recruiter for the KKK. (NOT!)
Not sure yet. I think with Tarkanian it comes down to Mean what you say, Say what you mean. I know that in his Attorney General dust up with Miller he got BOMBARDED and he kinda floundered around and didn't do anything to stop it.
Excuse me, I meant Secretary of State.
Conservatives want to vote against Reid, but conservatives in Nevada will not vote for Sue Lowden who clearly demonstrated over the state GOP convention that she considers being a leader means she can go against the will of the party members even to the extent of shutting off the lights and fleeing to stop the voting for delegates when voting was not going the way they wanted.
A split GOP vote will not defeat Reid, and whether right or wrong, the fact remains that a huge number of Nevada conservatives would stay home or even vote for Reid rather than vote for Sue Lowden. That does not hold true for any other GOP candidate, making her the one choice that would lose this near certain seat to Henry Reid.
It isn't Reid but the Lowden led state GOP that nullified the entire GOP caucus process to vote on delegates in favor of running out of the room and unilaterally appointing delegates by conference call with no input from the voters, at all. Romney delegates and Ron Paul delegates united to send a message that Nevada where McCain had come in third to Ron Paul in caucus votes did not want to vote for McCain at the RNC. Sue Lowden's view of representation of the people was to send the entire state caucus process to the round file and replace it with selection by state party insiders. NY 23d district shows how well that doesn't work.
Reid is nothing more than another corrupt, all for himself politician that seems to think he's above the average American. Hopefully the voters in Nevada are as sick of him as the rest of the nation. He needs to be voted out along with the other thieves Pelosi, Dodd, Rangel etc. There are too many bloodsuckers to mention.
I'm with you Renee. I am concerned about spliting the vote and loosing out to the Dems because of it. For me, to continue to "settle" is no longer acceptable. However, until we get Our Country back, I do not want to risk a Dem win…no matter what!
You don't even have to be Conserative to know that with 17% of Americans out of work, we are fighting for our survival.
Amnesty, healtcare for illegals and the refusal to enforce our laws and protect our borders have us leaving the Democratic party in record numbers.
We are not a rich country anymore and we are enraged that our leader have no concern for American citizens.
I would like to point out to President Obama that Mexico already has a President to look out for Mexican citizens. Last I heard he was supposed to looking out for Americans.
Start enforcing our laws and imposing huge fines on businesses that pass over "out of work Americans in favor of illegal workers.
If we have to vote the Democrats out in order to have our country back SO BE IT… We can send a nessage loud and clear in 2010 and 2012.
Fight back at http://www.numbersusa.com
We have enough troubles of our own. Does Betty Sutton and Sharred Brown ring bells for anybody?
Yes, Sen. Bayh keeps running as a fiscal conservative and social moderate. That along with his name keeps him in office. Good news is that there is some solid conservatives lining up to run in the Republican primary. Now they just need load of money to compete with Bayh's $12 MM warchest.
But enough about Indiana politics. Looks like this is a great contender in Sue Lowden. All the best to Sue.
Sue Lowden is as smart as a rock. A written piece by her isn't a clear indication of her intelligence, because I highly doubt she sat down and wrote this alone. She had help, and even so, it isn't that great. Sound bites. That is about all she has to offer. Try asking her a question off the cuff. She has no idea how to answer, and her responses are shallow and stupid. I hate Harry Reid as much as the next guy, but she isn't the ONLY one running against him, and she is definitely NOT the best choice. DO RESEARCH before you send money. Plus, she's a millionaire. Let her fund her own campaign. Don't waste your money.
Harry Reid is a wimp.

ou folks from out of Nevada are easily fooled by Sue Lowden, I see. Don't let your dislike of Harry Reid twist your common sense! Here in Nevada many Republicans call her Lowdown not Lowden. Someone from another post referred me to a site called http://www.Dearpolitician.org to write my politicians. The site is really cool in the fact that it automates everything and you can write your President, Vice President, Senators, and Congressman. The really interesting parts are that you can write complete Senate and Congressional committees. After you write what you want to say in the body of the template, you can print them off and mail them yourself or you can have Dearpolitician.org fax them to their offices instantly for FREE. If you want your letters delivered today, go to that site! Just passing along a cool site!
So BigGovernment have this candidate time. BG what do the other candidate have to say?
Automated e-mails, faxes, messages are generally never read. They are filed away never to be seen again.
Take the time to hand write a real letter. These do tend to be read.
Term limits are so needed!
California the Golden state, American future, is fast becoming the poster child for an bankrupt third world State!
An unholy alliance of Socialist Democrat politicians, Unions, and Illegal Aliens supporters are feasting at the trough of tax payers paid benefits while taxing & regulating business and the tax paying public into poverty.
The pandering of Left Wing Democrat Politicians to their constituency of Unions, Illegal Aliens and open border supporters, are driving business and citizens to other states & countries, while leaving the parasites & welfare leeches in an increasing bankrupt, crime ridden, dysfunctional state!
For years California has ignored economics 101 and imported Criminals, Uneducated Peons, and poverty from Mexico, which increased Medical, Welfare, Crime, Prison, etc. & adding a estimated 10 to 16 billion per year to Calif. State expense to support the invading horde of Illegal Aliens while exporting business and educated tax payers.
Like all Socialist & Marxist States the results have been a astronomical increase in social welfare, schooling, prison cost etc. and a lowing of Living standards, Education standards, Tax receipts & finally Bankruptcy.
Failure to abide by our Constitution against invasion & enforce our Immigration laws and constraints on wages and benefits for public employees will result in turning the Golden State into MexiCalif and the end of the Calif. Dream and the beginning of the MexiCalif. Nightmare!
The policies of Obama and Wash. DC Democrats are intent on following Calif. policies and Pro-Illegal Aliens and Anti-tax paying citizens and are endorsing the same socialist process of rewarding the criminals and punishing law abiding citizens across American.
Amnesty & Citizenship as a reward for their invasion of the USA, will result in the rest of the USA turned into a Spanish speaking third world cesspool, modeled on Mexico and follow California into a polluted, over populated, Spanish speaking third world Nation of Crime, Corruption, Poverty, Cruelly & Misery!
This will result in a population depending on Welfare and the Democrat party, thus assuring the lock on power for the Socialist Democrat party of the United States of Mexico!
Meantime, with 15 million Americans without jobs & Millions more working temporary & part time jobs , the invasion continues, no Liberal Politician will address the 500 pound gorilla in the room, and millions of invading, plundering, welfare loving, prolific breeding, Illegal Aliens taking millions of jobs that should be American jobs and 100,s billions of dollars in social services that should be for American citizens!
One cannot be political correct and admit that Illegal Aliens are an large part of the problems in this Nation.
Their negative impact extends to every area from Sub-par loans & defaults, Underground economy, Massive document fraud, Lower standard of living, Crime, Overflowing prisons , Bankrupted hospitals, Failing schools, Property Taxes, Insurance costs, Environment, Culture, Welfare costs, Welfare fraud, SS fraud, Voter fraud, Disrespect for our laws & country, our Constitution against invasion and even Balance of payments occurring from oil and other imports to support the 20 to 30 million illegal aliens in this country!
One has to only look at Calif. which is basically mostly an Spanish speaking, Bankrupt state that cannot afford to provide Welfare, Schooling, Medical, Prison cells etc. for millions of MS-13 Gang bangers, Drug dealers, Rapist and other assorted Criminals and uneducated, Prolific breeding, third world rejects from Mexico!
In a very few years it will be impossible to see where Mexico ends and Calif. begins as both will be an third world cesspool!
Failure to secure our borders and reward the Invading horde for their invasion and their relatives in an never ending chain with American Citizenship is nothing less than committing National Suicide & will assure our future is an over populated Spanish speaking third world Nation that is an Cesspool of Corruption, Crime, Poverty and Misery modeled on Mexico!
mr bill; it will still be atough fight to remove harry, hes entrenched, but a good honest campaign will do it. remember this, illegals must go but those who enter legally are welcom. lower taxes and smaller government, are best for all working americans. no cap and trade and health care reform, they are job killers, and attract taxes that will never be removed. present the truth about what a great country america is. stay away from social issue and gay rights , abortion, religion etc americans resolve these things themselves,if you work in a business like manner, dont spend all the money you get, remember where it came from , big gov just makes us all poorer, and unable to help one another, show our resolve to our foes. say what you mean and mean what you say. the american people will elect you and thank you . good luck.
Since Reid has been the Senate Majority Leader for nearly 3 years, and Ensign's party the minority, I would say, um, no, it wouldn't.
Scott–
Unlike you, I actually live in Nevada. The question Sue posed has nothing to do with "local administration" and all to do with Harry Reid squandering his power in DC for purposes other than helping his constituents. It is quite clear that your post is not helping answer them either. And piling on to Ensign is a red herring as well, because he is a minority senator and isn't anywhere near the position Harry is in.
Jim Gibbons stood up for Nevada taxpayers by courageously vetoing the $781 million tax increase passed by the legislature this session. Would that the GOP members of that body show as much spine in sustaining that veto.
Howard Hirsch

I'm also a Nevadan and not sold on Sue Lowden. Leaning more towards Tarkanian, but not 100% sure on that either. There is NO WAY I will vote for Reid, though, and I certainly don't want to see him back in office. I hope Nevadans can rally around Reid's opponent (hopefully, Reid's opponent will be worth rallying around). Otherwise, we're going to end up with that buffoon, Reid, for another six years (I just threw up a little in my mouth).
WARNING! ACTUAL MATH TO FOLLOW:
Based on this year's budget report, which has final stats through 2007, freezing federal spending while not increasing taxes would easily result in a balanced budget, since the primary problem is that spending has consistently outpaced increases in tax receipts. In 2000, the government spent $1.79 trillion, while taking in $2.03 trillion. In 2007, it spent $2.73 trillion, while taking in $2.57 trillion. Revenue was up 26.8%, an average annual increase of 3.8%, ahead of inflation – in spite of the Bush tax CUTS – but spending, on the other hand, was up a whopping 52.6%, an average annual increase of 7.5%. Had spending merely been frozen at 2000 levels, we would have had a 2007 surplus of $779 billion, and we could have paid down the national debt by $2.35 trillion, or 41.8%. Even had we gone ahead with the Bush increases in defense spending, the 2007 deficit would have been $520.8 billion, and the debt STILL could have been paid down $1.33 trillion, or 23.6%. Instead of the 59% INCREASE.
And that's not fiscal conservatism?
Sorry, I meant SURPLUS of $520.8 billion, of course.
Your interview with Heidi Harris put a very questionable mark on your campaign. How do you respond?
How to lower Healthcare cost AND create millions of good decent, longterm jobs:
1. Expand Meals On Wheels to all rural communities
2. Increase SNAP food credit for low income Americans on Doctor ordered restricted diets and food allergies
3. Provide shelf stable low glycemic/low sodium food to VA healthcare clinics, Salvation army senior centers, as well as other healthcare clinics that serve low income clients. These items would also be sold at Goodwill, for a minimum fee to cover shipping and handling.
4. Every state would allow a taxbreak for Healthclub membership
If Obama wanted to, he could sign an executive order and this four step action plan would get started before Christmas: MILLIONS of decent jobs would be created, nationwide! Best of all, healthcare costs would drop, because of better nutrition and exercise- therefore; this makes my 4 step program better than anything Pelosi has come up with.
You gotta love these Republicans… First they ruin every financial instrument in the country, then blame the Democrats for the pain associated with cleaning up their mess.
Conservative principals – lie, lie, then lie some more and do it so often hope it will stick with enough low information morons to give them traction.
Too bad "White Flag Harry" will never get that levitating train to California built. That would have been the perfect mode with which to run him out of town.
There are few principles in the current conservative movement.
This country is going to need some serious fixing when this admistration gets booted out. I wish we could clone you and send you to every state.
I'm in California. If the state did not need my vote to remove Barbara Boxer from office I would move to Nevada to vote out Reid. Good Luck
I'm with you. What's in name anyway. But Scott, if you are that upset over Ensign, you should at least be as shocked with Reid.
OK, it's your state. You guys call the shots. I' tired of hearing what politicians tink I want to ear. Take your time, choose wisely. Then post to every blog you can. We in other states have a major beef with Reid andwan to help.
Sue Lowden is NO Ronald Reagan. Don't believe a word she writes.
If you knew the real Sue Lowden you would NOT vote for her unless you like voting for RINOS.
Lowden is an election-stealer and a crook. You couldn't pay me to vote for her.
Danny Tarkanian gave money to Shelley Berkley.
Is there a problem why you did not put specifics out there that congress needs to do? Cutting spending is certainly one course of logic. But if the government does not invest in the country, what entices businesses to invest in the country? It certainly is not tax breaks. Can we try the term demand? Consumer demand is what will generate investment in America. Now how do we acccomplish increased consumer demand from consumers who would love to spend because they have needs and wants? The minor problem is that too many of those consumers are out of work. The other problem is that those working are fearful of the economic climate. That's the reality and nothing explicitly academic about it. So can we expect to see big business, the benefactors of many tax breaks, work to stimulate the American demand by supplying jobs? Big business could turn this economy around in six months or less. The problem? It's not immiediately profitable to Wall Street.
you are a crazy person besides the fact that your politics are insane
you have failed to notice how the decisions of the republicans & George Bush
put us into the largest deficit ever
before the Bushes we had been at a reasonable amount of debt that could have been taken care of but then Bush put us deeper into debt for future generations
the republicans have also made us involved in a war that was completely pointless
with countless of young soldier's and innocent people's lives lost
crazy politics like yours are only going to screw up the mess the Republicans started
[...] the inevitable Republican candidate to replace Senator Reid in 2010. With an insipid article at BigGovernment and favorable pushes at Townhall.com Sue is on a steamroll. Ugh. I’m sick of her [...]
Is there an ACORN office in Nevada? I'd like to sign up to vote several dozen times. I have a few dead relatives that would like to vote also.

Does anyone else notice that if you look at a list of current U.S. senators in order from oldest to youngest, the most widely disliked ones are towards the top of the list? Everyone is thinking it but no one is saying it so I'll just say it for you. Forget about political parties for a moment and GET OLD PEOPLE OUT OF WASHINGTON!!! They think, talk, move, and act too slowly to legislate EFFICIENTALY. They are more often than not ignorant regarding current technology (i.e. Biden's website number comment). Most are entirely too stubborn to truly be bipartisian and/or open-minded. Anyone who disagrees has probably never watched a session of congress on C-SPAN. Let's face it. Our government can't afford to move any slower than it already does.
