Obama Finally Vacations at Gulf; Just in Time for Back to School
by SusanAnne HillerWith summer drawing to a close and most people having already taken or planned their vacations for this summer, this latest lame attempt by Obama to give the illusion he actually cares about the US Gulf coast, the people, and their businesses falls flat. After taking serious heat in July for a vacation to Maine and Michelle’s lavish vacation to Spain, this 27-hour quickie (no worries, The One will take a real 10-day vacation to Martha’s Vineyard next week) will be seen for what it is by America–a token drive by.
If Obama truly wanted to help the Gulf residents and the tourism industry, then he would have planned his weekend getaway at the Gulf instead of Maine and people would have had a month and a half to plan a trip there. With schools already in session in some districts and most others starting at August’s end, families are gearing up for back to school at this point. The Gulf states could have benefited greatly the same way Maine saw a boost to its economy.
This is just more evidence of the contempt and tone-deafness of Obama and his administration. Here’s hoping that the Gulf experiences a boost this late in the summer season.

OT; That bridge to nowhere sure would be an excellent spot for a Tea Party summit, a photo op of TPers throwing Tea Bags off into the ditch. We could dedicate the bridge and and name it Obamatopia Bridge and Obama Blvd. and install one of those road signs that says, paid for from recovery act funding.
He should have been at the Gulf when it really mattered. I doubt that this too-little-too-late attempt to show that he actually cares will fool anyone. Certainly not me. He is so out of touch with the American people that even if he did everything right from here on out, it would not be enough to reverse the damage done. Of course, there is no reason to expect that he would…..

I live in Florida, the beaches are fine and have been, move along folks, nothing to see here. Just Sir Vacations-A-Lot in a photo-op with the always smarmy Charlie Crist who is desperately in need of DNC funding. His photo-op with the Empty Suit is a kiss of death for him.

My husband and I recently included a trip to the Gulf Coast in Mississippi to our travel itinerary. We found the beaches pristine – and empty. What a shame that the news media, in their efforts to gin up yet another "crisis" for Obama to fix, destroyed the tourist economy of several states for at least one year. I have suspected this to be the case all summer, and proved it by seeing it for myself.
Oddly enough, having him recommend a vacation location, makes me want to avoid it like a nasty case of plague. When that woman said a 50% increase, I was sure she was going to say Tourism and instead she said increase at websites. LMAO HELLO if you are still supporting this president you can't afford to vacation in Maine unless you are one of the elites in which case you vacation in places like Spain, not Maine. DUH this is the Leader entitlement programs not the leader of prosperity. Good luck with all that website traffic as people sit in their apartments drooling over the pictures. Is it just me, or in that picture of the Gulf, above the video, is there just better than a handful of people clambering to see BHO and the Wookie?

I can WALK!” Oh well, at least they didn't leave out the true destination of their latest taxpayer-funded vacation.

Connie, I believe even if we found out he was not born in Hawaii, and that he lied about his citizenship; if he falsified his school and passport records, and secretly conspired with foreign governments to overthrow the United States, there would STILL be hundreds of insane local planning boards trying to name roads (and probably their own children) after this POS.
So my recommendation to anyone that's planning such a thing is to name their roads
"POS Boulevard."

People Please ! You have to realize Obama lost Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and barely won Florida. He has no real chance of winning the first four in 2012, and probably not Florida. Same is true about Arizona, he lost the state and probably will in 2012. Yep…especially when he's been on vacation so many times and people like me won't see a vacation this year–AT ALL. In fact, I've only been on 3 vacations in 14 years–my husband is self-employed. My husband also hasn't golfed this year either–even though he loves it. He just doesn't have the time, he's too busy working! Exactly how much is this going to cost us now, oh and the next vacation at elite Martha's Vineyard.

If your contention is that Obama is a less productive president because he takes vacations, you should rejoice at that. After all, you don't like his policies, right? He's already one of the most accomplished and consequential first-term presidents in history. Even if you hate him, you've got to admit that. So why do you want him stuck in the White House, with nothing to do but grease the skids for further progressive change?
It's hard work remaking America and cleaning up after 8 years of Republican incompetence, so cut the guy some slack. Because when he comes back from vacation, he is going on the campaign trail and planning for the lameduck Congressional session. And, trust me, you will wish he was on vacation.
