Why Didn’t the Democrats Take a Vote on Deficit-Neutral Unemployment Bill?
by SusanAnne HillerAccording to Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unemployment benefits are the best way to create jobs, so why didn’t she get with Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and press him to schedule a pre-recess vote on the Republican alternative to the Democrat’s jobs/unemployment benefits bill introduced on June 30, 2010 by Senator Scott Brown (R-MA).

Brown’s bill is deficit neutral and could easily solve the current problems in passing the unemployment benefits package:
My compromise bill uses unspent stimulus funds and cuts wasteful and unnecessary spending in other areas to pay for these important programs. Believe it or not, there is about $37 billion in stimulus money just sitting in a Washington slush fund when it should be put to good use immediately.
While my bill pays for additional FMAP assistance for one more year, this phase-down provides states an opportunity to get their fiscal houses in order — but also makes it clear that they can no longer pass the buck to the federal government, which has budgetary problems of its own. emphasis mine
Obama, Pelosi, and Reid should be called out on why they blatantly ignored Brown’s bill and also answer why they couldn’t fast track this one like they did with the passage of the original stimulus and Obamacare. Of course, the answer is obvious: Brown is a Republican and they couldn’t possibly give a win to the GOP. So much for bipartisanship.
For the record, Democrats own this economy; they had the supermajority. It’s their agenda, their stimulus, their failed policies. Americans deserve and should be demanding answers from Obama and the Democrat leadership regarding their policies–Bush has been out of office for 18 months–there is no more childish blame shifting and finger pointing.
It is time for the Republicans to go on the offensive and force the Democrats to explain themselves to the American people on where are the jobs and why they squandered $800 billion of taxpayer money. They need to stop fearing any backlash, because I’m not sure if there would be one, or maybe just from the left-wing MSM. Americans are starving for someone to fight back and call out Obama and Congress for what they are doing to our country (paging NJ Governor Chris Christie).
This is not what was promised during the election and this is why the new conservatives emerging from the grassroots are so effective–they have no fear in pointing out both party’s guilt and that these politicians have gotten too cozy in Washington. Incumbents and new candidates (from the left) are scrambling to move towards the right because that is what the voter wants. Obama and Congress have finally exposed the ultimate death blow to the Democrat party. We now know for sure that there are no prolife, conservative Democrats; there are only Democrats willing to act conservative to get elected and their overall agenda is a giant rubber stamp of Obama’s vision for the transformation of the USA.
Finally, knowing that the original stimulus was to create 4.1 million jobs, the health care bill was to create 400,000 jobs almost immediately, and the second jobs bill was [is] projected to create 250,000 jobs by the end of 2010. With all of this “stimulus,” Americans should be back to work, not begging the government to extend unemployment benefits beyond the 99 weeks already provided.

Well stated! A good comparison for those of us who actually have experience in the private sector would be for a new Corporate President, hired to do a turn around of a company bleeding red, still telling the Board that it is the former President's fault.
President Obama, you have had your "golden boy" time period. You knew what you signed up for taking the job. You made the promises for change. You have had all the cards in your favor with the super majority in the House and Senate. You have failed to deliver.
The US Citizens, your "Board of Directors", is NOT happy…
"This is not what was promised during the election…"
Surprise, surprise! Our Liar-in-Chief is the biggest offender of broken promises, but he's not alone! This goes back to the Throw the Bums Out attitute that should continue to be our focus. Just look to the RINOs.
McCain as an illegal immigration hawk. Yeah, right!
Graham as an anti-climate change warrior. Total BS!
They sway with the wind, depending on polls to know what is right or wrong.
We have the POWER now! Let's use it!
He is creating change, I am willing to bet those voters that pushed him to win, have changed their minds and are headed to Conservatism. Yes it is time for the Republicans to step up to the plate, throw a little tough love the Progressives way. Make them explain fully, using charts and graphs how their way is the better way. A liberal can't get past it's own immediate need, if the Republicans would challenge them, their theories are empty. There is no substance in their ideas for running this country. Socialism/Marxism/Communism are failed systems unless you are content to live like the Swedes or the Cubans. Step up Republicans, if you do take back congress and are still not taking a stand you will be replaced next election cycle.
Obama, Pelosi and Reid- The Toxic Triumverate.
We need to focus on the Registered voters at the Voting Booths across the Nation. They are filled with fraudulant voters names! Guess who will get those votes? Take three guesses, the first two don't count. Hmm voter fraud, voter intimidation.
Slush fund are the operative words in Sen. Brown's statement. Agree that the GOP should go on the offensive and out the Dems REAL reason for the stimulus which was about buying and rewarding political patronage instead of helping put the unemployed back to work. One of the left's biggest lie (among many) is that they are for the working man,,,,yeah right, by espousing policies that keep the working man not working. We need more bills presented like Sen. Brown's that lay waste to these lies.

Where the Jobs are?
That ship has sailed. No more jobs created, none saved.

This linked article is prophetic, and will be emblematic of the Obama Administration, just as Carter had his hostage crisis. Moses led his people out of Egypt, in the Exodus. Barrack Obama has just created his own Exodus, of American jobs.
I think that was a rhetorical question, guys, bwahahahaha.
Why on earth would Pelosi or Reid do ANYTHING to help this nation?
Don't EVEN tell me anyone needs a hint.
Calling our States "Patchwork?!" in a derogatory way? It's that Patchwork of States that makes America great! We call it The "United" States! Not an Oppressive Federal Government!
They state their primary goals are to 'Strengthen International Relations, & Control National Security concerns' International Relations? "control" I'm getting nervous. It feels dictatorial & like forced Global World Order.
You are right there.
You're learning to call a spade a spade.
McCain, Graham and a whole host of their co-conspirators are nothing more than goddamned whores. Street walking trash.
"Why Didn't the Democrats Take a Vote on Deficit-Neutral Unemployment Bill?"
Because politicians aren't about fixing things they are about spending our money to pay off large voting blocks so they can keep themselves in power.
Since the point in time where I began calling a spade, a spade, I've been force to change my name to "The Racist Formerly Known as Bob". As far as that whore thing goes, more people would begin thinking like us if only (think media matters) BHO would wear his "Pimp" hat more often. : -)
The author is right the Republican Party does need to force the Democrats to explain themselves. However, with the exception of a few, I fear the majority will be as slient as Crickets, so they won't be called mean-spirited by the Socialist and their minions.
Oh yeah, paying people not to work creates jobs….for the government, NOT for the engine of the economy – business.
God forbid they should spend down their slush fund when they can just vote for another unfunded boondoggle from the money tree.
Michele Malkin recently posted an article about unemployment that mirrors exactly my argument that presidents have little to do with employment numbers and deficits,,,,,it is congress who enables the good or BAD policies of the president. They hail the economy under Clinton,,,yet it was a republican congress that kept him from screwing it up. Blaming Bush, while some of it deserved, is not telling the story on our economy. Look at where unemployment rates have been, but look at the party in power in congress,,,,and the story is crystal clear:
http://michellemalkin.com/2010/07/10/unemployment...
Obama can and will continue to blame the republicans and Bush,,,,but the truth will be known and you can only deflect responsibility for just so long before it comes back to bite you.
November is coming closer every day
I read that at Drudge this morning. I thought it was going to be Brazil and dear leader's handler, soros. I wonder what kind of exposure the hungarian has in Egypt?
BTW- As an unemployed carpenter, this Sh!t has to stop! When my resources run out and my family is put in peril, the whole game changes for me…..
Great point SK. Some examples..
Reagan with a dem congress=Large deficits Reagan BAD Dems GOOD Tip O'Neal THE BEST
GHWB " "=Recession GHWB BAD Dems GOOD
Clinton with a Republian congress=Prosparity Clinton GOOD Republicans BAD
GWB just EVIL Dems GOOD
BHO Just GOOD Republicans BAD
We should never forget who this woman (Pelosi) is or where she came from. In short, she is the spoiled rotten daughter of a Baltimore crime boss who didn’t miss a beat hopping from her rich Daddy’s lap to the lap of her multi-millionaire husband. During her quest for power and prestige, she has not once let her feet touch the same ground or travel the same difficult road that you and I travel on a daily basis. Yet there she is, on top of the world, looking down at the rest of us and mandating how we little people are to live our lives. To most Americans, this multi-millionaire-by marriage is the last thing they want to see as their jobs disappear and everything they have worked their entire lives for is taken out from under them. She is a walking insult; salt on a festering wound that aggravates the very conscience. What’s worse is that she flaunts her wealth and status traveling around the globe on her own personal jet with an entourage of groveling servants that are funded at the taxpayer’s expense. This cannot be allowed to continue.
What amazes me, is the fact that he even thinks anybody believes him anymore. He is completely INSANE. http://vimeo.com/13227786
Unemployment was originally meant as a bridge between jobs, not as a duplicate of Welfare, and a dis-incentive to look for work. They're "gaming" the system, and making a joke out of U.S. and re-enforcing Obama's determination to Re-distiribute wealth until Cloward & Piven is complete.

Wow. Billions in unspent stimulus money. Could you tell me again why this money was necessary if it all wasn't spent?
I watched CNN this morning to see what they are spouting and Axelrod was on Crawford's show. She, in her defense was trying to get some info from him regarding unemployment etc., and all he did was blame Bush for EVERYTHING!! Obama has tried to save this country according to Axelrod. Obama is the real "messiah". Geez, it took everything inside of me to watch this lying, conniving cockroach.
Ohhhh, he's on Chris Mathew's show now. Can hardly wait to see what bullcrap he spouts now.
Doh! What was the question again?
I'm no political guru but even I see the opportunity to broadside these criminal democrats for their destructive policies.
Good God…America needs some leadership and it needs it NOW! Are you listening GOP????
my mother taught me when I was ver young that you cannot make yourself look better by making others look worse. Real character comes from accepting responsibility. Being a better person simply means making yourself be better,,,,not at the expense,,,or comparison to others.
Obama's mama never thought that way.
Pickles,
Next time remember the <sarc> button! I'm TOOO old and senile fer subtle, lololol!
His momma was too busy posing nekkid for Frank Marshall Davis and participating in radical political behavior.
So people like Al Whore could buy a 9 million dollar mansion and even now as we speak, the Clintons are negotiating on an $11 million dollar house. They are upgrading from a modest bungalow.
Also that money will probably be used for Hussein's 2012 election. Slush fund.
Obamas new great welfare society.
soooooo…you're a friend of Joe Wilsons…..he called osamabama a lair too…..and as for johnny "I'm a loser" mccain being against the ill eagle INVADERS he has forgotten to take his medicine….damn it you're makin' my day….thanks!
the demonCRAPS don't give a fuzzy rat rump about you….the rePUBICans don't either…and the only one in todays gubmint that has any cajones (balls for you that don't live in aridzona) is Jan Brewer and she ain't much help in D.C…..there isn't a pair in the entire rePUBICan party…as for the demonCRAPS there are a bucket load in NANs big treasure chest…not her's…everyone elses…who would stand up to the PRINCESS??
my fear is that the current GOP leadership is going to lose this opportunity to hold this administrations feet to the fire, the crooks still have plenty of Stimulus money held back and rather than spend it on extending the unemployment payments they want to buy the November elections from the sheep.Sometimes we think that it must be obvious to the folks what a bunch of scumbags are running this Country, unfortunately the average voter still falls for their lies and has a memory as long as Robert Gibbs Johnson. There are too many RINOs out there and not enough men and women of courage and conviction with the exception of a notable few.I dont really see the likes of Lugar,Snowe,McConnell etc ever wanting to take the nasty decisions that we as a Nation are going to need in the coming years.Who stands out as a candidate to topple BHO come 2012?
Right, the Anointed One is marching the nation into the sea like Moses. But the parting of the waters thing is not happening. http://powerlineblog.com/archives/assets_c/2010/0...
Pleasures mine. It's so fun and easy to point out just how f'ed up the politicians of this country are. And they think that they have us convinced that they are so much smarter than us.
Clearly the Democrats are using the bill for political gain only. They know that borrowing money and giving it to their constituents does not create jobs.
I don't care if you pay for it or not, we need to STOP THE UNEMPLOYMENT WELFARE CHECKS. They keep people out of the labor market. It encourages people to sit on their butts instead of taking a job that they would consider to be "below" them.
Rep. Paul Ryan
"Why Didn't the Democrats Take a Vote on Deficit-Neutral Unemployment Bill?"
Why no budget from Congress this year?
Why is the President's deficit reduction commision scheduled to report in December?
Inquiring minds want to know. (By definition, that excludes MSM).
Hint: November we remember.
My question is why Republicans would vote for this extension of welfate AGAIN after people have been on the dole for 2 straight years! That is long enough to get an Associate's degree or finish a Bachelor's if you already have an AA. All this extension of benefits does is let people stay at home for another year!
smarter???? naaaah! scummier, slimmier, sneekier….yea that's it!!!
Just seeing the picture of those three turns my stomach. It is forever true – "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." They must have power stripped from them!
For the record, the Obama administration's push for continued unemployment benefits is already deficit-neutral. In the stimulus package, $40 billion is originally set aside (not in an extra slush fund) to provide extended unemployment benefits through Dec. 31, and increase them by $25 a week. And if you guys haven't noticed, unemployment benefits are not welfare, but a bridge to get from the Bush economic failure to a healthy new economy where jobs are available again. As an unemployed independent voter myself (who is not getting unemployment benefits), this hand up is supporting our economy because receivers are spending that money, much of which goes to corporate profits–to companies holding on to their profits for fear of what the administration will do next. How paranoid and anti-economic recovery is that? The Obama administration has been supportive of the business community, providing them several tax cuts, including those in the stimulus package ($51 billion). Yet big business still refuses to put that money into the economy to create jobs.
If you are going to put up such a fine comment about Nancy Pelosi at least put in a link for her opponent in November…
http://www.johndennis2010.com/
Wow, I never had heard that about Pelosi's background! What have we done, America, putting these people in power!!
Most of those shows have a panel discussion section that consists of three Libs and a RINO for "balance".
The only thing more remarkable than the bullcrap someone like Axelrod lays down is the way the hosts eat it up with a spoon. They call themselves reporters and journalists, what a joke.
Steve Forbes
Well you won't probably like it but IMO it's not a gov't dole when the gov't is the one that took your private sector job away in the first place.
Do we have a side by side comparison of the numbers of unemployed UNION workers to NON UNION workers?
Do we have a side by side comparison of the numbers of unemployed GOV'T workers to private sector workers?
It matters.
You can see if Repubs didn't, then 14+ MILLION Americans would be without income. And we all know Obama doesn't give a rat's rear about them. So Repubs are just expanding their "private sector" base with this bill the same way Obama's expanding his "Union/gov't worker" base with stolen TARP funds.

Businesses big or small will only hire and spend if they believe that they can make a profit by doing so. Continued efforts to add more regulation and taxation make it impossible for any business to believe that they should invest instead of save. Government health care legislation doesn't inspire heath care businesses to invest in a new hospital.
" it's not a gov't dole when the gov't is the one that took your private sector job away in the first place."
Here's the problem with that logic though, it's not the guys in congress footing the bill, it is all the rest of us that are. Unemployment is a huge drain on the economy and a weight around the neck of business. Eliminate the unemployment extensions, and it will force people to get a job. The problem with unemployment is that it pays the same as a minimum wage job. So people ask themselves why would they work at Taco Bell for 40 hours a week when they can sit at home instead? There are jobs available, people just aren't taking them.
Mac,
I get it and eventually we will have to sort this one out for the future too. I'm just sayin that right now the number of unemployed PRIVATE SECTOR VS GOVT/UNION folks is nearly 4-1, their favor.
Private guys losin bigtime. That is the EXPLANATION of why Repubs backed the bill and Dems didn't. Demographics. Repubs are using this strategy and Dems bit, hook, line and sinker, so now it looks like Repubs are athe only ones fighting for the unemployed. Illusion…yeh, politics, of course, but it's an election year. No holes barred.
And frankly it would really get ugly if all those folks just got cut totally off. It isn't their fault businesses aren't hiring. It's not like they didn't spend a year plus lookin. Obama has his boot on the neck of business and wall street and banking. Until businesses figure out what that's gonna cost them, they CAN'T AND WON'T hire.
And consider this. What if with your house pmt, school loan pmt, and any other big bill, let alone the monthly stuff for a family is more than Taco Bell will pay you. Once you take the job, you lose the benefits.
Would you take less than your monthly expenses if unemployment was CLOSER to what you needed? I wouldn't. I'd go for whichever amount best matched my FIXED need. Just math, not entitlement mentality. Not really.
Check the medical stats. Depression and suicides are both up. That's not laziness. That's frustration and despondency. Loss of heart. Sense of failure. And can you imagine what this country would be like if those benefits dry up for even 6 months? Greece much? Talk about your tipping points.
Begs the question, is this what Obama wants? Greece west? Cause he's sure pushing us to that point.
He won't like it if we get there.
why don't they take a vote? the unions won't let them.
While I agree with you on small businesses being afraid, and rightly so, I don't agreee with you about big business feeling they can't make a profit. According to Fareed Zakaria: "The Federal Reserve recently reported that America’s 500 largest nonfinancial companies have accumulated an astonishing $1.8 trillion of cash on their balance sheets. By any calculation…, this is higher than it has been in almost half a century. And yet, most corporations are not spending this money on new plants, equipment, or workers. Were they to begin loosening their purse strings, hundreds of billions of dollars would start pouring through the economy. And these investments would likely have greater effect and staying power than a government stimulus." Newsweek article July 6, 2010 And I believe it will bring more confidence into the market, futher securing a more stable economy.
However, while Zakaria agrees with you that big business is afraid of more regulation and taxation, from my perspective. regulation will ultimately bring more stability and accountability to the economy and big business in a way that will give consumers more confidence in the economy. Moreover, big companies do not need tax cuts, subsidies and other ways to avoid paying their fair share of taxes that only contribute to important yet underfunded (and thus ineffective) govt agencies (like border patrol) but the exploding national deficit/debt. I also believe most of this fear about regulation and taxation is unwarrented and cynical. Big business has paid more taxes in the past than they are paying now, and yet they still survived and prospered.
Democrats have had the Budget since 2007. In 2006 under Republicans the deficit was 167 billion and unemployment was 4.6. Democrats wrote the budget in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010… Bush never even saw a budget for 2009 because then, as now, democrats played shenanigans are refused to publish a budget until after the election.
Here in the fourth year of democrat control and after the democrat protected Freddie and Fannie have blown our economy into recession we have over tens times the deficits and real unemployment is above 16%. In areas it is as high as 40%.
Thank Obama and the Democrats for this economy because they built every stone. Obama didn't inherit the economy. That is complete BS
We ask these so-called leaders,"Where are the jobs?"These same people wouldn't know what to do if you handed them a shovel or a hammer!
Big business GM and big business Chrysler have both failed. While others may not have failed yet that is no guarantee that they won't. Any business that has a surplus reserve would happily invest in a profitable venture. The problem today is that there are few profitable ventures to be had. Just because you or Zakaria thinks that businesses are unduly pessimistic doesn't mean they aren't right and that the spend now brigade is wrong.
Contrary to what you might have read in the newspapers over the last 10 years there has been plenty of regulation (look up the Community Reinvestment Act sometime) and that regulation has failed to provide stability and accountability to the economy. Banks are failing at a higher rate this year than last year. If a bank can't find a way to profit then it is unlikely big business X is going to. If big business cash reserves were a problem then banks would find a solution – they are presented with borrowers every day of the week and would love to lend money out (again, if they can make a profit).
I am all in favor of confidence and a positive attitude when warranted but if you and the spend now brigade want business to spend in the face of evidence that there is no profit to be made then you are asking businesses and their employees to confidently walk off a cliff onto the the rocks below.
Sarc on. Did you really say there was a plan from a Republican? It can't be true, or we would've seen it on MSNBC. Sarc off.
I think the article was pretty clear what the money was for. It even used the correct term "SLUSH FUND".
The GOP might say us but I don't trust them all that much either. Anybody who's been there more than two terms has sold their soul for the $$$/POWER. They are junkies for the stuff. Have you taken a good look at Pelosi lately, she's whacked out bad!
Watch what happen during the Lame Duck session it's going to tell the tale. If the GOP stops everthing then OK, but if they cave even once (Card Check, Cap & Trade, Financial reform, etc…) + the Health-care mess and it's going to be a tough next couple of years with no promise of getting out from under the Progressive's.
That picture in the article looks like it should be hanging on Post Office walls with the words "Wanted by the FBI"
Please volunteer to help watch polls across the nation on election day https://www.athensbrigade.com
Why didn't they go with a deficit-neutral plan? Simple. Nobody to buy off and nothing was going to transfer into their own private war chests (i.e. private Swiss bank accounts)….

They are a crap sandwich minus the bread.
Copper I'll bet you a quarter that he tells a lie.
It is rightly called a Democrat (aka marxist) slush fund, to be used as the for the preservation and enrichment of the marxist slugs in government.
Easiest way to do this is to become an election judge. In MN, you can do this and still get paid by the company you work for. If you're unemployed, it will be a little extra cash in your pocket. We need to keep an eye on them at the polls, before the votes are counted and while the votes are being counted.
Loved that article too, but it's really amazing how ignorant people are about how our government is run. They blame it all on the current President, no matter who is running the House and/or Senate. Most don't even know that all spending bills originate in the House.
They blame the current President in all cases, except today of course, when it's all Bush's fault.
How can the Board of Directors FIRE OBAMA ?????
Obama is the Defeated Pharo. Not Moses.
I like Texas Stomp's statement. I've been looking for work for months, offered to take jobs at 1/3 my previous earnings. Went to one interview and there were 65 people applying for the same one job. Interviewer says they recieve thousands of resumes per month. I believe nothing will change until Obama is removed and stop the Chaos he has created in the private sector. Wish me luck….
And they are saving this "Slush Fund" to spend right before the election. Imagine, using Taxpayer dollars to get relected.
The Democrats put her in office and Democrats put her in the Speakers Chair..Keep voting democrat and soon you won't have shoes to wear..Admiting you are a Democrat is admitting you don't know what's going on and that in reality you are a really STUPID STUPID FOOL !
I guess you still have your Job ?
They are saving the big suprises 'til after the election. (As if we don't know what's coming )
What part of the White House do you work in? You must be Axelrod , the dreamer.
Mike,
First….I am sooo sorry. I am part of your problem. I went to sleep and pretended gov't would take care of us all. Stupid on steroids and you are paying the price.
Now, I believe Repubs WILL renew benefits. Political suicide not to. But I don't know for how long. So hear me out. Consider looking at Texas and other states LIKE Texas, open shop states, states that are business FRIENDLY and have no state income tax. Speaking for Texas, there's very few industries or areas of business you can't find in Texas from auto plants to silicon valley jobs and most everythin in between.
I know family and friends and personal history all argue for folks stayin close to their roots. But when the root is dead, the rest is moot. Doesn't mean you can't go back later on. Just take a look, see what you might be able to find in a more business friendly state.
Texans don't care about the suit. They care about the guy wearing it. At this point, all you got to lose is a little gasoline and some internet and phone work.
Best of luck and don't lose heart. When we rule the world again, jobs is at the TOP of our TO DO list.
)))))
His action have not helped the economy. The world used to look to America for stability and Obama has made us very unstable, instilling fear in other nations economies. This "recession" would be over by now and America on the road to recovery but it seems this is not what Obama wants (or he's incredibly stupid). NOTHING will change 'til Obama is removed.
Picture should be hanging in every Post Office; 3 of Americas most wanted Criminals.. Funny how you can comit crimes but get away with it by just calling it "politics"; or Bribes are called "Campaign Contributions' This happens because WE LET IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!
More from our supreme leader, in his mind only.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8KrMJZn3hU&fe...
It would be easy as shooting fish in a barrel.
True Conservatives only.
I don't think Brown's Bill is legal. Aren't there rules which prohibit monies authorized in one bill being "appropriated" for other "unauthorized" uses?
And for which ever "black" man would look at her…………
We are all buying Fords here in Ohio, they reopened one of the GM plants, still waiting for the check, after all WE own 56% of GM………………….
A "CEO" president was the tag Romney had to shake, not embrase, and he failed at doing that.
And an absence of government almost caused the complete collapse of our country. Smaller taxes, smaller spending, maybe. Smaller government. No way.
It would have been interesting to see the votes from the Republican side on Brown's Bill. It would have been a minority that may not have played well for the Republicans. Unemployment and, especially the extension of FMAP, are hot buttons whether its deficit causing, or stimulus paid for.
Extending Bush tax cuts and denying unemployment benefits are nothing less than battle lines for RINOs fed up with Keynsian steroids coming from the Democrats. The rest of the world goes "austere", while US "Conservatives" seek to cut taxes with voodoo hopes and Democrats just spend. The gulf widens and the vote goes to the party selling their trash the best.
Pretty much agree, but, hey, as long as we borrow we'll get two-termer's. Remember, its GHB who coined the term "Voodoo economics" and didn't spend, who was stuck with one.
Obama will never replicate the false housing-ATM based economy. It's why many go around saying there will be no V-shaped recovery this time, and the further his economic policy deviates from reality the worse off our children will be. But he'll be sure to get re-elected by growing debt and reducing unemployment faster than the other way around.
I'd take Bush-one over a return to Reagen.
