No More Go-along-to-Get-along
by Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX)In politics, as in life, there can be an overwhelming temptation to go along to get along; to be a team player; to do the easy thing even when it’s not the right thing.
For far too long, insiders from both parties have played these games. Talk up fiscal responsibility, but spend big. Talk about a federal government that fulfills its basic responsibilities, but then vote to expand it beyond all recognition so that it cannot possibly do so. Talk about doing what’s right, but then do what the establishment wants instead.
Americans deserve better—and they deserve to get to choose something better this year. In 2012, Americans have the opportunity to decisively move away from big government, built up over years and years by both parties in Washington, D.C.
As I said in Sunday’s NBC/Facebook debate, President Obama has thrown gasoline on the fire, but let’s be honest: The bonfire was raging well before Obama ever left Chicago.
Policies and spending served up by Washington, D.C. insiders, in several notable instances designed and written by Wall Street insiders to suit their needs, not ours, caused and then exacerbated this situation. In too many cases, these advocates of big spending and bad policy have used their positions of power to enrich themselves, both while in office and once outside of it. Republicans have been complicit in this scheme, just as Democrats have.
It is time for it to end.
To accomplish that, Americans will need to seek out genuine outsiders prepared to make the powers-that-be uncomfortable by pursuing policies that will put a stop to insiders’ behavior-as-usual.
As the lone conservative outsider on the ballot, I have a clear plan to overhaul the Washington status quo.
Andy Roth, Vice President of the Club for Growth, said it well earlier this week: “Rick Perry, I think, has one of the best if not the best plans. He’s got a ‘Cut, Balance and Grow’ plan where he wants to institute a Balanced Budget Amendment and cap spending at 18 percent, and then he wants to cut taxes all over the place. That would just really be a pro-growth boon. It’d be eliminating capital gains, lowering corporate tax rates and personal tax rates down to 20 percent. Very, very strong plan.”
For many Republicans, a balanced budget amendment is little more than easy political posturing when they know Democrats will not allow one to be passed. In earlier years, when Republicans exercised 100 percent control over the purse strings, they were not for constraining spending. In fact, they were in favor of as much big government as possible, so long as the beltway establishment “blessed” that big government as serving “conservative” ends.
As Roth noted, Rick Santorum “was a prolific earmarker,” Newt Gingrich “supported Medicare Part D, which expanded entitlements in a huge way,” and Mitt Romney “actually deserves to be in last place on this because it’s very uninspired ideas that he has. He barely wants to tinker around with the tax code…”
Voters have a clear choice between big government “conservatives” and a true limited government conservative.
I am a conservative outsider committed to seriously overhauling Washington, ending the IRS as we know it by cutting taxes to a fair and flat rate, and stopping job killing regulations dead in their tracks.
But to accomplish these things, one thing has to happen first: Americans must reject those who are part and parcel of the problem at the polls – the Washington and establishment insiders. We have that opportunity to really overhaul Washington and elect an authentic conservative in 2012. Let’s take it.

At least Ron Paul explained the Fed to Perry.
As a "conservative" Republican voter I'm extremely frustrated by the attacks within the Republican candidates, even to the point of bashing Romney for being a successful capitalist. Meanwhile "El Presidente" is trampling the constitution, again, with his recess appointments. I want the Republican candidate that on every opportunity points out the failings of this President and how it will be different under a "Perry" or "Santorum" administration. If you can't find enough things to run on against Obama and the corrupt Congress on both side of the aisle, it's time to go home.
And earmarks, too.
“Paul made over $157 million in earmark requests for FY 2011”
http://ricochet.com/main-feed/Ron-Paul-s-Earmarks
ahhhhhhhhh, the old go along to get along. Translates into I am a whore and have no core principles. We the people should be so lucky our benevolent leaders have our best interest in mind. Although it sounds like a good idea to abandon this type of thing, it like the constitution is a wonderful thing of yesteryears
Mitt Romney & The L Word(s) Liberal, Liar and Liquidator.
Meanwhile Newt Gingrich is going to release an attack ad against Mitt Romney titled "The King of Bain". I decided to look up the dictionary definition of the closest spelling to Bain. Bane definition, a person or thing that causes misery or distress ( esp a bane in of one's Life).
http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot...
At this point it doesn't matter, the primary system is rigged in favor of Northeastern liberals.
Until we scrap the current primary system and stop letting Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire pick our candidates we're not going to get another Reagan (or better yet another Coolidge).
As a Coloradoan I'd say good luck Rick, but its not like I'll have a chance to vote for you (or Michelle or even the other Rick).
"He’s got a ‘Cut, Balance and Grow’ plan where he wants to institute a Balanced Budget Amendment and cap spending at 18 percent, and then he wants to cut taxes all over the place"
Then run for the legislature. That is where this is to be handled – if one reads the CONSTITUTION.
I agree with you Rick, that people have to reject the insiders and the Establishment. However, you are more establishment than you realize or care to admit. Your campaign has been about state's rights, but you have forgotten the rights of the Individual. You yourself place the authority of government, though in your case state government, above the authority of the individual. And folks have recognized that forgetfulness.
Tell ya what, go back to Texas, develop a longer record of dismantling state government control over individual Liberty and get back to us all another time. You seem like a good fella with a goo heart, but all us of with a heart like that go astray sometimes, and you have done so. You talk about the TEA Party sentiment and you caution the GOP to recognize it. However, you fail to recognize some of it yourself. We don't rights "restored" to state governments, Rick, we want them restored to each and every one of us INDIVIDUALLY, where the truly belong.
conservative republican?????????????? I thought this was about America and our freedom. when the R&D show goes away we MIGHT be able to fix this mess.
well said and a thumbs up to you
Your ghostwriter has all the right ideas, Mr. Perry.
For 4 years the republicans have begging and hating for a second chance and what have they done?
A further note…
Newt lost me on his attacks on Romney and his love of Truman, FDR, and Wilson.
Romney lost me when he allowed McCain to endorse him. Romney is the machines choice.
Ron Paul lost me on his foreign policy, although I wouldn't mind seeing him appointed to a prominent position for financial reform in another candidates administration.
Huntsman never had me. But if he gains some steam I'll have to really look at him closer.
Perry lost me on his immigration stance, but I'm taking another look.
Does that leave me with Santorum? Maybe.
I'll never run with the "if it feels good, do it"…….crowd. Not my kind of party.
I'll still hold out for Rick Perry even though he doesn't have a rat's a** chance of winning the nomination. I refuse to capitulate to the press and pundits that we must anoint Mitt Romney. Yet.
This was writen by Perry who claims to have changed from a democrat to a republican. For him to go along in his political career he couldn't be successful as a democrat, so he changed sides. The man who helped run the campaign for Al Gore, one of the biggest far left wing democrats this country has ever seen, had a change of heart. I'm not buying it. How dumb do you think people are? We are now supposed to believe you are going to be our conservative hero…LOL. Enough infighting already, our enemy is Obama, not eachother.
Yes… A conservative Republican. Maybe you can highlight why that is a problem for you?
agreeing with me will get you hated on this and most other sites. you might even get stalkers to follow you around from site to site. but that is a small price for freedom. funny thing about most people they just stay in one place and say the samething almost like talking to yourself in a mirror. the battle is all over the country and not just in this bunker.
maybe because republicans and democrats are on the same team? The same reason Newt McRomney is running away with the nomination?
it seems you also have a fan club of thumbers. keep up the good fight
lol thanks, my sarc apparently is taking off like a lead ballon

If anything this will help you have questions for Perry!
"The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves."
George Washington
I am a conservative and will back the Republican nominee. Devouring each other over the desire to be president is not what America needs. Newt especially is showing the angry old white man syndrome. Perry looks as good to me as Romney even Paul looks good next to Obama.
What we really need is a kick ass team like Palin and Christy. Take a lesson from them Mr Perry and stand up for conservatism, free markets and American exceptionalism. The American President in you will follow and if it doesn't then so be it. Don't take the road Newt has chosen. We as Americans need all of you to stand against Obama not each other. It's not worth it to be president over the bodies of other Good Americans the likes of those of you in the race..
they don't get sarc through their closed minds. you need a hammer
I will see you one hammer and raise you a JACKHAMMER
If death care was found constitutional who would fight to kill it? So far all we get from republicans is failure and excuses.
I already have a stalker, and the bottom line is, popular speech needs no protection. let the thumbs fall where they may
Be cool and stay in school! No President of the United States can create either a budget deficit or a budget surplus. All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives and all taxes are voted into law by Congress. This means Bill Clinton did not balance the budget, the Republicans did. I repeat, All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives!
we need to be careful or they will call us terrorist. and have us shipped off to an undisclosed location.
republicans keep forgetting all those freedom killing laws THEY put in place.
Since a president has the ability to veto he effectively has the same voting power in the legislature as 16 senators, so the president has a major role in legislation that is potentially controversial. Also note that Perry has the most executive government experience of any of the candidates.
I love the hate it proves they have nothing. Plus the more they hate the truth, the more minds we can change.
Governor, All well and good, but what about your Leftist rant on "Vulture Capitalism"? So your bashing of Romney on Bain Capital and his dismantling of a failing company as heartless matches up how exactly with you wanting to dismantle Department of Energy, Department of Education, and that other one you couldn't remember? So does that make you a "Vulture Statist"?
Do you not realize you the level of hypocrisy in your moral elitism on what constitutes "good" capitalism vs. "bad" capitalism?
Perhaps you, sir, having spent your life in politics, are the one who does not realize what it takes to create jobs, you claim to fame of 1,000,000 jobs in TX notwithstanding.
You lost my vote when you put on your Prog raiments and went left of Romney on Bain.
Obviously, you've missed the point. But you're young. I'll take that into consideration.
Ill second that!
William Z, I think this is a fair point to outline; however you should also explain that he votes down or abstains from every one of the earmarks. Please check out the following videos as RP clearly explains his viewpoint on earmarks and why he requests earmarks and then votes them down.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP9EH6n3nDk&fe... 6:00 – 9:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoD5Yk1imBk&fe...
hate for a question?????????? that is sad..and typical
Well before you leap off that cliff, maybe you should seriously get a quick lesson in communitarianism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communitarianism
And listen to Rick Santorum in his own words
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Gwwmm-cQxU
If you say you are a conservative, what exactly does that mean to you? Rick seems to think it means the government needs to make moral decisions to " benefit the collective" and its ok to massively expand the size of the federal government as long as he is good on the social issues.
Rick is a communitarian, which in my opinion is more dangerous than a progressive, because communitarians hide under the banner of conservatism, and push for tyrannical controls on social issues.
Dont get me wrong, I am pro-life pro- gun and pro freedom, because these things are right, and not COMPULSORY. Santorum sounds much like a tyrant in this clip.
^ this conservative doesn't need any help figuring out what is right and what is wrong
So, you are calling hi a liar……touting his inside government experience?
A President cannot spend one dime, and he cannot cap spending either. True he could veto, but then another Texan could have done that, but chose not to. He had "experience" too, huh?
What exists in the Executive as far as legislation goes, is a checking power upon the body tasked with spending. That authority is itself checked with that thing called a veto override. Republicans in the House won;t stop the Democrats in the Senate or the White House from the spending debacle. What makes you think one man in the White House could do so?
Might Perry be better than Obama? Possibly, but only marginally even then. Obama voters found that out when they thought he would operate so very differently than Bush.
Perry's core message is to empower state government. Spoken like a true governor. I ask plainly, what s the real difference between empowering state government or empowering the federal government? Both have a common denominator, and while someone in Texas may well think that empowering state government further is a good idea, here in Illinois, we flatlanders have a slightly different perspective on that point.
They got a huge mulligan in 2010 and they squandered it badly. There really isn't any legitimate and truthful dissent that stands up to that fact.
Sounds good Rick.
However, amnesty for illegal aliens along with in-state college tuition is not fair to current students, their parents, and grandparents that worked their tails off, paid their taxes, lived within their means so to set-up the financial foundation to create the greatest Universities in the world. Now, happy time BS politicians want to give it away to illegal aliens at our expense. You're a wealthy man Rick, use your own money to pay for illegal aliens college tuition if you are so moved.
It would be NICE if some of you had the BRAINS to do any research. First off you quite obviously do not know the 1st thing about the south-the MAJORITY of the south was Democrat until the nomination of Dukasis-that was the straw that broke the back of the Democrat party in the south. It is NOT that any of us ever wanted to call ourselves a Republican-that is still a tainted word (which if You KNEW history which you quite obviously do NOT) you would know. After 20 yrs of voting for GOP mostly I refuse to call myself a republican-especially looking at people like you that consider themselves that. Guess you did NOT know that Ronald Reagan was a democrat or Judge Roy Moore. So, let me get this straight-you HATE school prayer, you are anti-2nd amendment & believes guns should be restricted, you support Planned Parenthood, you do NOT support the military….hmm I have to question why you claim to be a Republican….oh btw that is what Gore supported & ran on at the time. He was BY far along with Dick Gephardt the most conservative 2 in the race. Unless you are ignorant enough to try to describe that NE Progressive George H. W. Bush as a conservative….sorry hon you have absolutely no credibility. And hon just as much our enemy as Obama is ignorant people like you that aren't smart enough to research facts.
yep we need a quitter & a muslim lover you are right…not
Obviously you are not intelligent enough to comprehend there is a large difference in capitalism & what that scum bag Romney does. But go back to your ron paul loon
Management (like Romney) are all for central planning; it's their job description. Using central power to destroy competitors is a common ploy by bureaucrats (or managers) with sufficient influence. That's the core of the communist and socialist governments. I'd not bash Romney for the "capitalist" part.
The US became rich because management and bureaucracies were not able to implement central planning to any great extent. We are becoming a third world country as they gain power. Romney and Paul are both bad news.
why would want another REAGAN????????he gave AMNESTY to illegals. he punished every hard working America and reward those who BROKE our laws.
EXCUSE ME once again piss poor facts. first Rick Perry has NEVER supported Amnesty-that is Newt. As for OUR in-state tuition learn some facts. In Texas our universities are mostly funded by oil & gas money-we HAVE NO STATE INCOME TAX hence sales tax contributes to our schools. Fact illegals that live in Texas for years pay sales tax the very same that i do. Our in-state tuition bill was not a creation of Rick Perry-in fact he was stuck with it, the very 1st year he took over for Bush, WE THE STATE RESIDENTS OF TEXAS rammed this bill down his throat-FACT 96% of our legislature passed it, 80% of Texans supported it-duh that means it was VETO PROOF. Perry should have told all you people to piss off it was a state issue-he has never said it should be national. It was a decision made by Texans-easy answer you don't like it stay the hell out of Texas, but don't try to tell us how to run our state. Feds force us to education 1-12th, they refuse to close the borders, we have the largest population of illegals in the country, states can't deport all we can do is call ICE for them to turn them loose. Sorry you are too dense to see that we had to make a decision- yes we could have said okay we don't care you were raised here, attended & GRADUATED from a Texas high school, & that you want to get on road to citizenship we are NOT going to allow you to attend college (which would have been sued for discrimination & cost Texas millions defending) we would MUCH rather you go grab a gun & become a criminal…yep you can take your good grades, motivation & go work for the cartel. geez you people have the brains of damn donkey.
So, to illustrate how ‘terrible’ earmarking is he voted against or abstained, but his district got the money anyway. Oh, boy.
Empowering the state government allows you to move to the least tyrannical one. You choose your government. It also keeps you from putting all the nations eggs in one basket. It also allows for specialization, different constituents, different needs, requires different government. It also keeps the government from making tyrannical decisions when they know many will just move if they do(think California in the past year when businesses threatened to move, they backed off some of their taxes).
Rick Perry writes a good speach but we have all heard it before.
There seem to be no more Ronald Reagons because the morons in both parties wont let them in.
The problem we face now is that Ron paul is being backed by Democrats mostly in these primaries so he thinks he has a chance. The Dems want him to split off and be an independant so they can steal the election just like they did with Ross Perot way back when.
I am not one hundred percent behind Romney but I know the presidential race is a not as importatnt as taking back both houses with a strong majority in order to restore the united states to its former standings. This will also cut the spending!
Why did this comment require moderation?
Really? My comments are "deleted by the administrator" before they even post?
You know that all earmarking does is direct where you want the money that you state is ALREADY going to get to go right? It's not like they are taking from other bills, they are only making sure that the money they procured for their state goes to the right people to get the job done.
The republicans are doing their best to re elect BO and stop all who are trying to make him a one term prez.
Oh, please let it be Perry!
If Rick Perry actually wrote this article, and if it was not ghost written, it was a fairly articulate article.
Hell, if Perry is looking for a new career after this politicky thingie fad wears off, he ought to contact Breitbart.
Who knows, he could become Editor at Big Journalism………..
This has nothing to do with me or my state; it has to do with the words and actions of Ron Paul. Apparently, he needs defending from his own noble deeds.
That sometimes happens when starting a new career.
Consider it the Ghost of Ron Paul………
This illegal alien problem is a disaster for border states, complicated by lack of action by the Federal Government.
Don't fall for the fairytale that illegal aliens have lived here and paid their fare share of taxes and deserve in-state tuition. Illegal aliens, many illiterate in both Spanish and English, require massive welfare and social service support. Speaking for my state, the husbands and wives aren't married, so they double dip the food stamps and child service benefits. As an employer, I know first hand many do not pay federal and state taxes. They use phoney social security numbers, claim maximum dependents. After the employee leaves, I get withholding notices for back taxes from the IRS and the State.
As for Rick Perry, I like him, however the guy took his six-gun, shot himself in the left cowboy boot, then shot himself in the right cowboy boot. He's done, no longer a viable candidate. Also supported Al Gore, still scratching my head on that one.
So ashrack I guess you want Romney? Not an entirely bad choice but compromises will have to be made.
BUT … the President as a leader can propose, promote, explain, educate and LEAD. Obama didn't pass Obamacare … he "lead" Congress to focus on it and his Dem majorities followed well enough that he approved (signed) the law. If he had "lead" them in a proper direction, they may have followed.
Here is the budget process that we all have forgotten:
1) The President, according to the Budget and Accounting Act of 1921, must submit a budget to Congress each year. In its current form, federal budget legislation law (31 U.S.C. 1105(a)) specifies that the President submit a budget between the first Monday in January and the first Monday in February.
2) Each year in March, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) publishes an analysis of the President's budget proposals.
3) The House and Senate Budget Committees begin consideration of President's budget proposals in February and March.
4) The House and Senate each consider those budget resolutions and are expected to pass them, possibly with amendments, by April 15.
5) A conference committee is typically required to resolve differences between House and Senate bills. Once a conference bill has passed both chambers of Congress, it is sent to the President, who may sign the bill or veto.
So what is it that Romney did that you think distinguishes his actions from a capitalist or an entrepreneur? If we're talking about his Bain activities and not his political ones, what would you have him do? Use valuable capital to prop up unprofitable businesses? Invest in the production of goods that consumers want, or sustain workers in dying industries or business with failed models?
Capitalists use profit and loss to tell them that they are serving people's most urgent wants. Obama and his ilk use the alternative approach.
They cannot squander what they never had. YOU have to give the republicans the Senate too. Because democrats in the senate refuse to even admit Republicans have sent them 27 jobs growth bills that Hairy Reed refuses to put up for a vote. Democrap: Party of NO
Me too. He is one fo the better choices.
Yep, I want Perry. He can create jobs and make the economy grow. Let him make president and then he will help get rid of the TSA for good!
(Perry is not in the legislature and he cannot issue edicts.)
Perhaps you have missed the point?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWTyHbGcUQY
All of them brought shame on themselves. Attacking Gingrich on his consulting business and then attacking Romney on his experience at Bain. Attacking Santorum as an "earmarker" and attacking Perry by saying that the jobs in Texas are low paying jobs.
FOCUS ON OBAMA's FAILURES and tell us what your plans are and HOW they will lead to a successful America!
All you offered was ad hominem: "put on your Prog raiments and went left" , "level of hypocrisy in your moral elitism on what constitutes "good" capitalism vs. "bad" capitalism?"…
What in your comment was anything but ad hominem? I thnk that phrase doesn't mean what you think it means.
You are very correct!
Palin & Christie? God help us.
In addition to the other posters comments – the whole question of allowing the state rate for illegal immigrants children came up before TX leg because the TX Supremes ruled it against the TX Constitution NOT to.
But why let facts get in the way of that whole "a tuition rate IS JUST LIKE AMNESTY!!!" thing.
Thanks, but there are plenty of disingenuous faux conservatives running around this site already.
Governor Perry I am still behind you 100% You are the only true fiscal and social conservative in the race. I pray you win.
First rule of alinskey's radical book, if you have no rebuttle, attack.
If you clicked 'thumbs-down' on this comment …
… you might be a RINO.
The problem is: Once they hit that level of corruption, there is no left/right, there is only money and power and how they get it. Some get it using right wing techniques, some using left. Either way it's NOT good for us.
I stand corrected.
However, Perry should have articulated this better, this is why he's floundering.
People see another "W", mumbling and bumbling through press conferences. People recoiled.
Voted down his own earmarks on bills that he inserted them in and placed them there purposefully because he knew that those bills were a shoe in. How duplicitous of him to then expound on the evils of big government spending while he bellies up to the trough, and then to talk with his mouth full…………. for shame. Why not be an example, a shining light for all to see, one who TRULY lives his own message and refuse government largess? Why not, because there was not enough votes in it for him back home, (the same reason he did not vote no to the the Iraq war bill) it is easier for him to buy them than to earn them through a steadfast devotion to his own words. How could he ask his constituents to join him in refusing government money because he believed that it was wrong? Who would spread the word when he lost the next election? Now we are supposed to believe that he is the only untainted candidate in the race and he will begin doing what he has been preaching, but not doing, AFTER he gains office, what a ship of fools he commands.
Give Perry another look … is he horrible at debates, yes, but he has very good politics. Is he perfect, no, and as a resident of Texas I wish he was a little stronger on immigration but he is not a horrible on immigration as he has been made out to appear
I don't understand how you think Perry has taken the rights away from individuals … as Gov. he has been extremely responsive to the will of the people of the state. He backed a highly unpopular HPV vaccine program and then responded to the will of the people and backed off when it became clear we didn't want it. He pushed for a toll road called the Trans-Texas Corridor and again, when the people spoke out against it he backed off and killed it. He may be misguided in some of the things he initially backs, but the fact is that he understands what it means to govern by the will of the people.
The opera ain't over til the fat lady sings……………….quit rushing the process folks. Let the candidates pummel each other, better all the crap come out now than be ambushed by the democrat machine later. The last true democrat that understood the priciple of government was Truman…………….if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
All spending should be earmarked.
Every dime that isn't is a dime that Obama and his cronies can spend at their discretion.
Please save the excuses. They have the power of the money for a reason. They failed because they chose to fail. They lost the battle even when armed with the truth.
God help us. Another politican with another "plan to overhaul the Washington status quo…"
The only consistent "plan" our elected representatives have had is to dig into the shovel ready piles of taxpayers cash and load their own pockets and those of their patrons, while at the same time placing an ever increasing buden of squandered government debt on the backs of the American Taxpayers, their children and the children yet unborn. The time for "plans" are over. The only "checks and balances" left is the revolt of We the People.
We sure the hell don't need another phony "Washington Overhaul". This systemic rot and corruption has become a metastasized cancer on the body politic. You can't overhaul cancer. You kill it or it kills you. Hopefully the cure is at the ballot box.
People forget more read than comment and thus who i am trying to convince
Paul has stated repeatedly and no one, and I mean no one in the media or otherwise has sought to "fact check" or disprove him here, that appropriations that are not designated go to the Executive branch where those funds are at the discretion of the president.

It is funny, in an ironic sort of way, that Rick Perry wrote an article here.
Way back in the day, John Boehner wrote some articles here, to garner support, as did Senator Tom Coburn, and a whole host of others, with varying degrees of sincerity.
You got a lot of thumbs down for your comment, but the smart money is that you're right.
The Three Stooges are Curly, Larry and…ooops!
Like the bulls of Pamplona, Big commenters are enraged by the red number next to my user name. If anybody here actually believes that Gov Perry wrote this article (or would be capable of logically organizing his thoughts without a teleprompter), then I have a bridge to sell them.
Dude. THERE IS NO WAY HE WROTE THIS ARTICLE! ZERO PERCENT CHANCE. YOU CAN TELL I MEAN IT BECAUSE OF THE CAPS.
Scooter, I WAS BEING FACETIOUS. YOU CAN TELL I AM BECAUSE OF THE CAPS.
It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company
~ George Washington ~
Thumbs up for "scooter"
I will give you that point, but where was his conviction for the people who overwhelmingly called his office as we told them to pass it and sign it into law? We did do that! He pulled an Obama, and ignored the will of the people. He did it, not me!
Thank you for the quote! I do know that one well. At the end of our time what did we have? I will have known I was honest, and never backed away from who I am!
A budget for the Executive is all fine and dandy to require, however, no president, not even by statute can be tasked with spending money not already spent first by congress. It is a power of the purse strings thing. Remember now, statute cannot trump enumerated powers nor can it change them.
LOL @ "expected to pass them". That is about like expecting the Senate to rubber stamp consent in judicial nominations. Yeah, that is real checking authority when nothing more than a rubber stamp, huh?
All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
In a nutshell, Congress is not empowered to abdicate its duty- nor to defer it to the Executive or anyone else.
Congress has the power of the purse, and there simply is no legitimate dissent to be had on that point and remain within Constitutional Boundary.
Each Citizen retains certain inalienable rights no matter which state within they choose to reside. Each state is guaranteed a republican form of government and each is required to uphold those inalienable rights. Meaning – that no state government is empowered to ignore those rights as if they do not exist. Take Illinois and its total ban on carrying firearms (a clear exercise of the Second Amendment inalienable right to do so), for instance.
Would you tell me that I should move to another state in order to rectify the rights violation that is taking place this day here within this state? Pretend that it is not happening? Yeah that worked out well for the country and its Citizens, didn't it? Ignoring the cancerous corruption in Illinois served to have it now run the Executive Branch of the federal government………
Maybe a new path is indeed in order after all, eh? A path forged with the blood of Patriots so long ago would be a very very good choice. Don'tcha think?
Hardly.
So much for suppositions on your part.
I have been clear as to whom I will cast my vote for all along and where I stand with all the candidates. You could read through my comments to find out, but it is so much easier to "guess" and be wrooooooooooooooong, huh RecklessProcess.
"Reckless" indeed.
A President can indeed offer ideas. As for Obamacare, he didn't lead on that legislative effort, he signed whatever they sent him and claimed "victory". And he has run away from it, as have most Democrats, ever since.
Gee, why do so many establishment types want Romney to be the opponent? Why, so as to take Obamacare of the table right along with Romneycare. That's why.
