Total Makeover: ACORN Edition
by Ron NehringSometimes, the news coming out of Southern California is more entertaining than the movies coming out of Southern California.
Last week the 37,000-member California state chapter of ACORN broke away from its national organization to form a new nonprofit group called the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment. Amy Schur, executive director of ACORN ACCE in California, says the decision was made because “the level of controversy had become a significant distraction for us.”
So let me get this straight. The California ACORN chapter, which includes the San Bernardino group that was featured in the ACORN videos providing advice for human smuggling and prostitution, and the San Diego chapter, that conducted what looked like the world’s biggest document dump just before the AG’s agents arrived, wants to split off from the national organization because they say the national group has problems.
If anything, the national group should split off from the California group and beat them to the punch.
Just like the many Democrats around the country who are trying to separate themselves from the toxic policies of Barack Obama and Barbara Boxer, groups like the newly-minted ACCE are scrambling to disassociate themselves from the very controversies they helped to create.
The most important news in the switch from ACORN to ACCE in California is that the new group will have many of the same staff members and the same community-organizing mission, and will be funded by the same donors. Perhaps we can also expect the same level of suspicious activity and legal ambiguity that caused massive public outrage in the first place.
The bottom line is that no clever restructuring can change the facts. The California chapter of ACORN can change their name, put on a fresh coat of paint and even replace the air freshener but my sense is that the same stinky business is going to come pouring out, sooner or later.

Yea sure I believe it. We were warned about the numerous sister sites of ACORN and what they would do following the expose'; exactly what they are doing now in CA, abandoning the "mothership". Nothing but a shell game. Is this chapter going to completely re-staff too?

I really hope someone is challenging the court decision which said they are "constitutionally entitled" to federal funds.
maybe if I re-read the constitution more often I will spot the section which states that I, personally, am entitled to 7 billion taxpayer dollars.
The worst/biggest of the 7 bill things about them which make my brain bleed is that they are getting 7 bil from the stimulus package (aka home of the death panel provisions) while Dick Morris during the holidays had to fundraise for Thanksgiving and Xmas dinners for disabled vets.

Not just SoCal. In fact it is way way more entertaining. (The crop of films produced over the last few years making the rounds on the movie channels are so bad it is not even funny)
What more? Even if the Hollywoodist did give us this drama unfolding the final product wouldn't be believable. Ergo I still wouldn't watch it. Why? It is too unbelievable. Yet it is true.

In short. California ACORN is saying they have made the choice to keep their Thieving from the American people in house. There is only so much of the pie to steal and the Chicago cut is just to great of a burdon to bare.

Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Makes no difference what their name is, they are corrupt to the core and always will be.
Concerned citizens need to keep an eye on these groups at the local level.
Wiping the voter registration roles and starting over should be considered. Only those who benefit from voter fraud could object to making sure that every vote cast is legitimate.
Every vote cast illegally disenfranchises another. The penalty should be as severe for preventing a legitimate vote from having its natural impact as the penalty for preventing access to a voting booth through voter intimidation or any other deliberate method of voter obstruction.
It is not too much to expect that people who show up to vote be able to prove who they are and where they live. Surely identification when voting should be as important as when cashing a check or applying for a driver's license.
