Okay, let me break this down for you, as simply as is humanly possible.

Once upon a tome, there was a political party called the Whigs.

It was a political party from 1833 to 1856.

The reason it broke down, was the issues of slavery and slavery in territories.

At this time, there was a sort of "party" ( more like a movement, actually ) known as THE KNOW NOTHINGS. I shan't go into this, but I suggest that you research it.

Most of the Whigs were were anti-slavery and most assuredly against allowing the territories/new states to allow slavery, but the internecine warfare, as well as the party losing elections, had politicians LEAVING THE PARTY/GETTING OUT OF POLITICS ( just for a bit ), just about dissloved the party.

This is when the GOP was formed and while they didn't win elections right off the bat, with the election of President Lincoln, it became the other major party.

It became a political party, by attracting MOST of the GOPer pols and having most olf the KNOW-NOTHINGS join it.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW THE VOTERS FELT ABOUT THE WHIGS; IT WAS WHAT THE POLITICIANS DID.

Today, there is NO such a thing as "THE TEA PARTY, PARTY".

Today, there are NO politicians aching to join/create such a party.

Today, it is the MSM and a few posters on line, talking about having such a party; the MSM using this to make sure that Obama wins re-election, by splitting the usual GOP voters.

You don't see the parallels? Many people always throw up the irrational, ignorant garbage that the GOP was a "fringe party"; it wasn't. Most of the original GOP was made up of Whigs, who, with anti-slavery Know-Nothings formed a party that was a major party forcing the Whigs onto fringe territory, composed of leftovers and the Know-Nothings weren't abolishionists.
The new conservative party is made up mostly of republicans and some independents--it's becoming a major party that will force Republicans into fringe territory.

I am listening to you; it's just your arguments aren't strong enough to convince me.

People like me, have been donating time, money, and effort to help elect good candidates for most of their lives; even before they were of voting age. people like me were writing letters and calling politicians before you knew your ABCs. People like me show up at Tea Party meets and marches; even being the ones who get them started. People like me, were fighting the fight, sometimes as an army of one, for many decades, long before there was right of center national talk radio shows and cable ones.

There's little to no point in "showing kindness" to those who refuse to listen! You've proved, many times over, that whatever I might post, you WILL ignore the salient points.

The GOP is NOT going to fall, now, for some new fringe party movement; that's just the way it is. What needs to be done, is for the GOP to grow stronger........with Tea Party folks helping at the local level, and becoming candidates.

Scuzzyfuzzy was running as an R ( yes, yes, she wasn't/isn't one and neither was Bloomy, before he switched back to being a Dem and then an Indie ), but you said that you'd only vote for candidates whose political party's platform you agreed with. See how silly a statement that is? It means that YOU would have voted for Scuzzyfuzzy.

Perhaps it is YOU, who need to think before you post and use "kind words".

People like me attend the Tea Parties. People like me contact our elected officials through every channel available to let them know how we stand on the issues. People like me are fighting to make our voices heard.

The Republican party isn't listening. Is that thuggery? I'll wear that label with pride.

As a side note, and without malice, may I offer some constructive criticism? If you want to sway independent voters, you'll really need to work on how you argue a case. Insulting the person you're trying to convince is a bad idea. Fact checking is a good one (See your whig comment, and check your history book. Two party system of 1830ish=Democrat and Whig. Fringe third party, but growing fast=Republican). Kindness and caring are a lot better at converting skeptics than telling them to "Toe the line or to Hell with you!"
