Hollywood Hates Capitalism – Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps Edition
by Reason TVOliver Stone’s uber-villain Gordon Gekko is back in the new film, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, which (surprise!) features greedy capitalists behaving badly. It might remind you of Avatar, Mission Impossible 2 or roughly a zillion other films in which capitalists destroy the environment, concoct killer viruses, harvest organs, and cover up murder in order to feed their lust of profit. Even when capitalism isn’t the primary target, the representatives of commerce are often flat-out repulsive (think Jabba the Hut).
Perhaps it’s ironic that Hollywood filmmakers practice what they preach against. Sure he palls around with socialist dictators Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, but there’s no doubt Oliver Stone hopes to rake in obscene profits with his new flick.
Approximately 1.35 minutes.

I'd never support another Oliver Stone film. Even NPR is saying this one is boring. When you even lose your comrades in hate on the left, you are sunk in Hollywood. Wall Street: Only the Audience Sleeps. Too bad because I like M. Douglas.
Like all elites what they would impose on us does not apply to them.
That is so true. I wish that concept were discussed more on these sites and in right world media.
Are,……are,…. there still movie theaters,………..??????
Odd, isn't it?
The only time Hollywood is interested in capitalism, is when it is dumping cash into its coffers.
On a slighly different topic, has anyone heard of or attended the Hollywood Tea Party? What have you seen, heard or read on it???
At least when he's playing the capitalist villain, he's not saying stuff like, "I'm gonna get the guns!"
Of course, the other thing he said in that movie ("The American President") still seems to apply: "He is interested in two things, and two things only: making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections."
That's the current "blame Bush/republicans/tea party/big business" approach, isn't it?
dittos …
"Hollywood Hates Capitalism – Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps Edition"
The ONLY people surprised by this would be the totally clueless "intellectually challenged" who don't realize that "Hollywood Degenerates" is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the lunatic-left d-crat socialist party – just like the lame stream socialist fake-news media.
The hipocracy of Hollywood….Now that would be a great title for a new movie about the anti-capitalist Hollywood elite rolling in dough living in their muti-million dollar mansions.
Hollywood hating capitalism is both a misnomer and an oxymoron of sorts. Hollywood is full of rich, wealthy socialists who honestly give little of their own $$$ to charity. Same with those in Congress …especially the Democrats …very rich & wealthy while at the same time stingy & selfish.
Most of Hollywood hates the Heterosexual White Male, but, 90% of Hollywood is Gay, Racist, and Sexest.
If they hate capitalism so much, then I say don't spend YOUR money on THEIR movies.
I don't waste my time or money on left wing Hollywood movies.

It's Hollywood. They pretend to care about the poor and helpless. They pretend to hate Capitalism. They pretend to want to save the Earth. It's Hollywood and it's all make believe. The reality is that the middle class through charitable donations and church is the main driving force to help those in need. Capitalism and greed is the life's blood of Hollywood. Just one Hollywood elitist has a bigger carbon footprint than 50 of us.
Michael Moore doesn't work for government cheese and powered milk. He wants money and lots of it. Al Gore doesn't fly coach. A private jet is more to his liking.
People like Oliver Stone have made a gazillion dollars working in this country because of our form of government.
But they trash the very place & system where it was possible for them to make a gazillion dollars.
Maybe Olly & Sean Penn and their buddies should go make movies in Haiti and Cuba.
See how well that pays.
I support taxing the wealth of the so called "Hollywood Elite" any day of the week. Like their favorite president Obama has said "there comes a time you have made enough money". And there is a whole list of these characters that should pay.
I think I'll stay home and put on some John Wayne. The Duke never would have worked with commie trash like Stone.
If there was one, they would all show up in their Toyota Prius's before taking a limo to their private gulf streams on their way out of town for a few weeks on their yachts in the Mediterranean!
Isn't this Ironic? – Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Barb Streisand, et al., are all enjoying the fruits of Capitalism, and yet they criticize Capitalism and embrace the Democrat socialistic agenda.
They have no problem taking our money and becoming multi-millionaire$ while criticizing Republicans, the Tea Party Americans, and Capitalism.
I don't see any of the Hollywood Narcissists opening their check books and saving California, which is the result of what Obama, Pelosi, & Reid socialist Democrat Policies can do to a State.
Cal. is the epi-center of the Democrat Socialism Model, and it's Bankrupt! and in social chaos! with the majority of the population on Welfare and/or Illegal status. They don't enforce our Federal Immigration Laws at all, so they are over-run with Illegals. How's that workin out for ya?
If the Hollywood & the Big Biz hypocrites out there enjoy that State's bankruptcy, and social chaos, and class warfare, then give more money to Democrat socialism and La Raza. If not then WAKE UP and support Constitutionalists!
I wonder what they use to minimize their income taxes?
Wall street is no more "capitalism" than a casino is. If Jesus were here he would see them as another form of money changers. We have corporatism here which is another term for fascism. Bailouts removed all doubt.
"Hollywood doesn't like capitalism." Hmm, but they won't part with their buck's, or limo's either.
Yippee! Another movie I have to…………………………miss! No way am I giving those socialist bastards my money! Hell, I need to keep as much of my capitalistic earned money as I can living in this ObamaNation!
Another propaganda film….
Agree…..The socialist aristocracy own big business.
Thank Jesus America is really employed and driven by the small business, entrepreneurial spirit, and individual responsibility that has yet to be programmed out of us by the socialist school system and Democrat social engineering public policy.
Right on. It came out yesterday that Bono's anti-poverty foundation ONE gave only 1% of its funds to the needy. I wonder how many star-struck U2 fans gave to this foundation thinking they were going to save the world. Suckers.

Junk bonds and naked short selling aren't capitalism, they're economic parasitism. And that's what's dragging our stock market down. Enron raped this country, and we can't afford any more like it.
A psychiatrist once told me that when someone hurls an insult at you, like says you're selfish, you're greedy, you're ingnorant, 9 times out of 10, they are projecting qualities in themselves on to you.
Are some Wall Street bigwigs greedy? Sure. Do some manipulate and use people? Yep.
Is it anywhere near close to what goes on in LaLaLand? No way. All you have to do is read the tabliods to see the degenerate culture. Every single one of the 7 deadly sins flourishes in Hollywood.
Right
As has been pointed out before, we don't have capitalism in America. While our system may be slightly less restrictive than, say China, we still have a government run centrally planned economy. Again, not to the degree of the old soviet system by any means, but government controlled nevertheless. We have not had anything approaching capitalism or, heaven forbid, a free market in over a century. Hollywood mocks something it knows nothing about and has never seen. Whatever "greed" or market behavior one sees is a result of human nature combined with government meddling and regulation. Between congress and the fed, capitalism is nothing but a long dead bogyman to scare young socialists with. Not completely unlike the constitution.
If you have any complaints about the economy, direct them at the folks who are really in charge, congress and the fed. Blaming bankers may sound good, but they are not in charge, despite all the villainous casting of wall street by the socialists. Lord knows they don't want us actually blaming those who have all the authority, but no responsibility or accountability. Did I mention congress and the fed?

There is a interview with Pat Robertson on FOX NEWS and there is one coming up this Sunday 9/26 in BEVERLY HILLS. It is from 2 to 4 pm.
Sorry to say it, everyone, but I thought it was a very entertaining film. Yes, he took his 20-20 hindsight shots at the (democrat) caused crash of 2008, but it was well directed, drew just enough on the first film, and was very well acted.
That being said, Oliver Stone is a Socialist, Chavez-coddling freak who, were I ruler of America, would never allow within our borders.
I agree, but big government statism and cronyism have raped the American people ten fold. Our futures have been put on credit.
Seriously, it's a good film. Stone's Marxist stench abounds at points, but it doesn't end with an anti-capitalism rant. Very entertaining. Trust me, I wanted desperately to hate it.
These Hollywood elites are so stupid they don't understand it is our capitalism that has allowed them to be where they are. It just helps to prove that liberalism is a mental disorder. Let's redistribute some of their wealth to those less well off.
Funny… It is because of capitalism that these ding dongs in Hollywood make the millions of dollars they make. Lets see where they would be when socialism and communism take away their millions and force them to only act in state sactioned movies at a salary dictated by the state.
When I see Douglas' face playing a rich white guy (once again) I know it's going to be yet another portrayal of a greedy, rapacious capitalist. Especially when you put the words "Wall Street" under his name. Something about him shouts Don Henley — politically out left, protected by his LA clique, and way too dated to take seriously anymore.
Obviously you dont know why the money changers were wrong.
Michael Douglas is a great Actor just like his Dad was/is however I like the first Wall St. movie enough to have to see the sequel as I am sure it will be ever bit as good as the original I have no doubt, what Stone does politically IMO is of course he business just as it is ours he does good work at times and I'm sure there's many in Bollywood that despise him for him action in making this film and there are those who go along to get along out there on the left coast not saying Stone is one of them. I'd put Stone in the same class as Fat Ass Michael Moore politically but I never seen a Moore Film in my entire life and never will.
Stone I think is playing both sides of the fence with his mixer of movies & Politics and those who he may hang with as being part of his stick to make films he otherwise not have access to make outside of Bollywood, JMO.
Everyone gets that Oliver Stone hates America, right?
Hollywooded Liberals do hate Capitalism and Wall Street… Funny without Capitalism and Wallstreet, we have no money to waste on those Libtards of Hollywood…
Those big dog and poney shows for the Oscars once a year… How they spend millions on dress's tux's and expensive jewerly… Capitalism works for them..
Don't watch their movies. It's a no-brainer. I will not watch a Michael Douglas movie. I don't do the liberal Hollywood life support gig. If you go and pay to watch their movies you have no right to complain.
Don't be stupid.
After Matt Damon came out and said we were stupid if we didn't vote for Obama his Green Zone movie tanked. After Tom Hanks came out and said we were stupid if we didn't vote for Obama his Pacific series tanked on HBO (Tom made money selling it to them, but HBO got left holding the bag as they thought they had another "Band of Brothers" on their hands). The same is true here. Don't go watch it and make them eat it. They'll learn when it hurts.
Don't reinforce bad behavior by subsidizing it. Don't go to the movies, don't rent them and don't buy them.
They hate money for everyone else but themselves. Actors are the greatest liars of them all. It's what they do for a living. Lie.
http://beverlyhillsteaparty.com/ here is the link to the tea party tomorrow.
Excellent! I will look forward to what the news has or what my peer group here tells us once folks like you get home. Thank you!
It should be fun, right after 9/11 they had a huge banner there for people to sign their names and write a note, that was taken to ground zero. There were 1000's of people there, it was a different time, it seems like a long time ago.
Actually, they could make alot more. Think of it; no unions, slave labor and etc….it would cost pennies on the dollar to make movies there….I'm surprized they haven't already made the move…oh wait, aren't those a couple of the countries that can confiscate all that you make and "redistribute" it to the government to pay for palaces and such?
This movie already had one strike against it in that professional douchebag Josh Brolin has a credit, but it gets much, much worse: Michael Douglas' sidekick this time around, Shia "LeBarf," casually mentioned during Letterman last night that none other than George $oro$ was a consultant to himself, Douglas and other actors during shooting. As soon as I heard that, I vowed never to see this piece of crap. The first Wall Street was a classic because Stone forgot about his own personal paranoia mountain for once and concentrated on making a memorial to his late father, a stockbroker who passed away two years before its release. This one? Fuhgedduhboudit!
Ditto… could not have said it any better!
Saw the movie last night! Pretty bad, not enough flesh to follow the thread of the theme. If you do not know anything about what happened, and even if you do, this movie is very superficial. The original 'Wall Street' was good this one is a yawn!
substitute words like greed, capitalism and wall street with Hollywood, Marxist, elitist, actors and directors then the movie makes sense.
A bet placed in a casino is an investment not akin to playing stocks and bonds. A heavily unfavorable investment that people tend not to realize they are making, but an investment all the same. As thus, Casinos are in fact Capitalist. Dice-loaded, tables-unevent, money-grubbing Capitalism. And so is Wall Street.
And methinks you need to read more of the Italian Moose if you think Corporationism = Fascism.
