What We Saw at The Glenn Beck Rally in DC
by Reason TVOn August 28, 2010, Fox News host Glenn Beck held his “Restoring Honor” rally at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The aim of the event, explained the lachrymose TV personality, was to “come celebrate America by honoring our heroes, our heritage and our future.”
As the Washington Post reports,
“For too long, this country has wandered in darkness, and we have wandered in darkness in periods from the beginning,” Beck said, at times pacing at the memorial. “We have had moments of brilliance and moments of darkness. But this country has spent far too long worried about scars and thinking about the scars and concentrating on the scars.
“Today,” he continued, “we are going to concentrate on the good things in America, the things that we have accomplished – and the things that we can do tomorrow. The story of America is the story of humankind.”
Despite the presence of former Gov. Sarah Palin and many Tea Party trappings, the event was not political, or at least not in any conventional sense. Rather, the speakers called for bringing religion into the public square and using it as the guiding force in all aspects of American life.
Reason.tv was on hand to take in the day and talk with some of the thousands of people who showed up (crowd estimates were unavailable at the time of this writing, though the crowd felt thinner than the one at last year’s Tea Party rally). Most of the people we talked to were openly skeptical of politicians of both major parties and agreed strongly with the religious bent of the rally, often arguing that some sort of religious orientation was necessary for what that saw as a return to national greatness.
“What We Saw at the Glenn Beck Rally in DC” was shot by Jim Epstein with help from Josh Swain. Edited by Epstein and Meredith Bragg. Hosted by Nick Gillespie.

What I saw was America.
I saw America effectuating a fundamental change.
I saw nothing that the left can vilify. There was no politics, just our Lord, Jesus Christ…… Oh wait, they do vilify God, unless it happens to be the muslim god.
I watched the rally on Glenn's Facebook page because I could not attend. I found the rally very moving and all the speakers very good.
Thank you Glenn Beck for who you are and what you are doing for our country.
I'm just waiting for the left wing charges of the usual………….
I think it was pure genius that no signs were allowed. I'm sure the media (think ABC) is really pissed about not being able to use plants to create news.
What I saw today, was Chris Wallace and FOX News Sunday interviewing Glenn Beck. At the same time, at the top of the hour, the lead story on "Meet The Distressed" was Katrina, five years after the fact. That, in and of itself is a prime example, an illustration of where we are. One camp is positive, looking toward the future; the other camp is stuck in the past. Only the MSM can choose not to report a story as BIG as Beck's rally.
In an otherwise adequate overview by reason.tv reporters, I find the insertion of the comment "the crowd felt thinner…." as a personal view by the writer to purposefully detract from the impact of this great event! Be that as it may, Glenn Beck has singlehandedly done more in the past year to awaken the 'silent majority' than any other person has for decades..My only hope is that he shows some restraint when evoking religious fervor…That could ultimately cause an even greater level of divisiveness than we need right now…Lets maintain the basics of the constitution, secular equality!!
What I saw was the most inspiring events of my life thus far. Singing amazing grace with this crowd was awe inspiring. I shall never forget this.
What I saw was the defeat of the left.
And maybe that is why the Left is always on the side of certain groups of people around the world. Has anyone else noticed how many groups and countries around the world just go on, ad nauseum, about stuff that has happened in the past. Remember the whole Serbia thing – your great great great great great grandfather hurt my great great great great great grandfather so now we have to continue to hate each other. It's like the Hatfields and the McCoys. It's ridiculous. That's one major difference in this country – we acknowledge our past mistakes, we try to correct them and then we MOVE ON.
That is what Beck was saying – we remember the past, but we don't dwell on to the exclusion of all else. We remember so we don't repeat it. I think it's healthier and one of the reasons we are so stable and so able to prosper.
The Left can't do that and that is why we are stuck in the past with them – the constant grievance mongering stunts our growth, both spiritually and economically. Instead of trying to grow the entire economy because, as the saying goes, a rising tide lifts all boats, it's more about who may have gotten wronged and how to pay them back. It's counter-productive.
I loved the lady who empathetically stated without rancor that she was not African-American, that she was a Black American, and a registered independent to boot as the folks around her clapped in approval. That is what we are all about. We are Americans. Best part of the video, IMHO.
I watched it on CSPAN and it was inspiring and beautiful. Glenn, job well done.
For those that don't have Insider Extreme – Glenn's exclusive online access – he had little video blurbs of the some of the behind the scenes leading up to the August 27th event and August 28th. On Thursday night, he went over to the Kennedy Center and took some time to shake hands and great those fans who were waiting outside the Center to get tickets to the Friday night event. He didn't get to the whole crowd, but made it through quite a bit, shook hands, hugged, took pictures and signed books. One man asked him to pray with him and he did. He brought Tania over to also meet fans. What a lovely, graciously lady. And what a wonderful, kind and caring man. I mean, he was really genuine.
I know he can be over the top, but that's the entertainer side of him. I really believe that he wants to do something, anything he can for us and this country. He's doing his part. He'll obviously never run for office, but he's our George Whitfield, our Thomas Paine, rallying the troops, so to speak.
Again, Glenn, great job. Wish I could have made it. Next time when I hear about such a rally being announced, I will try to save some money so I can go. I went to 9/12 and it was wonderful.
Here's one for the trolls to contemplate that will make their heads explode!
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
~ John Adams

BOOM!
If you scroll down to the second photo here: http://weaselzippers.us/2010/08/28/cbs-news-horri...
and it does not touch your heart, you are a harder person than I am.
The left are scared to death of Islam……..They represent everything Islam hates
While I was a little disheartened seeing the young man in the video wearing the Ron Paul shirt(not an RP fan) I loved that American woman who just happened to be black ! Way to go sister in arms!!
It looks like it was a great day and since I'll be in DC for '9/12' I hope and pray that the passion and turnout will be just a strong for that rally.
The elites are beyond clueless. They need plenty of reminders as to who's really in charge
Freedom, the idea that "rights" are not "granted" by governments, but come from a higher source, came out of religious people.
This is the foundation that this country was built on.
These are the people that "know" this because they have a relationship with a power that is greater than any government devised by men.
If "freedom" is given birth again on this planet, these, "inarticulate", religious folks will be the midwife.
One other thing – one reason why I hate discussing Iraq, the financial crisis we are in or Katrina with many people is because of the lies and omissions that go with all three of them – the Left omits key information and/or lies about others. Katrina was a pooch screw. The Mayor screwed up (remember the pictures of the school buses just sitting there when they could have been used?). The Governor royally screwed up. And then the Federal Gov't was left with the rest.
There was no racism. It was a combination of the failure of the welfare state, causing people to not be pro-active for the own welfare, but instead waiting for gov't, and also the general failure of gov't to always be able to save us, even in a natural disaster.
While I feel for all who died, who lost everything, etc., I just can't discuss it because it has been so politicized. It's not possible to have a rational discussion about it with most people.
From the opening of the video:
"We really don't have any idea what's going on here"
And at the end:
"All you can say is that it was a very strange event"
Without trying to disparage Reason.tv, I have to agree, they really don't have any idea what was going on there.
We need posters of that picture spread around the country. Absolutely fantastic. thanks CL.
Yeah, I noticed that, too. I went to the 9/12 rally last year and I watched this one on CSPAN. I've seen the pictures of both and I have to say that it looks just about the same, although perhaps this one was bigger.
Glenn was told, and shared with his fans on Insider Extreme, that if both sides of the reflecting pool were filled, before you even got to the trees, and filled all the way back to the WWII Memorial, that it would be 250,000 people. Add people to both sides of that with the trees and the field, it was 500,000. Seeing aerial shots, I would say that we are talking between 300,000 and 400,000 people.
OMG, I totally cried. It's a beautiful backstory to the song and listening to the crowd start singing . . . WOW!
And I'm agnostic and that song always makes me cry.
Maybe God is trying to tell me something, but being an agnostic, I'm not sure. ;-D
I'm pretty harsh.
That photo made me cry.
Miss8s – you know, as I moved away from religion in my youth, I probably would have scoffed at that, even though I was never a raging liberal, just an average moderate liberal. Problem was I believed the crap about the Constitution being a "living document". What changed me on that? Law school believe it or not.
In my adulthood and my relatively newly found conservatism, I see that John Adams quote as being another one of those wise things our Founding Fathers said that is, well, an ETERNAL TRUTH. You can see that the farther we got away from morality and religion, the fast our country started to deteriorate, leaving us in the state we are in.
This is a reawakening. I hope it holds and sticks and continues on. It took us 100 years to get to this place, it'll take us 100 years to set it right.
"It's not possible to have a rational discussion about it with most people. "
You are absolutely correct.
Katrina has become a polarizing, and galvanizing issue. Where was it created, who created it? The MSM. Period. THAT is the real story. In their collective hatred for Bush, they took that story, and molded it in an effort to embarrass Bush. it was purely political.
It was NOT the federal Governments job to do ANYTHING, until such time that the State Government asked for it. The Governor of Louisiana and the Mayor both dropped the ball.
The shame of Katrina should be placed where it is squarely deserved, on THEM.
THAT, is the truth.
I agree. The reporter was clueless. But at least they showed some of the really great things, like the black lady who was NOT an African American, but an American, a black American. She was great and that is what this rally was about. We're all Americans and proud of it!
A few years ago I read an article that stated, in inflation adjusted $$$, the Marshall plan spent less money than was spent in the Katrina rebuild.
This Katrina has become some kind of memorial for the, " Govt. is inherently racist" crowd.
I'm sure NObama will throw some white gas on the Katrina embers today.
That's one of the biggest differences with particularly Conservative Republicans; the best of them will always look forward. Can you imagine Ronald Reagan spending years of his administration complaining about what he "inherited" from the Carter administration? That didn't happen. But then again, when you're working on a positive agenda, you don't have to rely on making scapegoats out of your opponents of the past.
I saw God at work.
Good for you. I'm an onery old cuss, and that precious young girl with an American flag is bringing tears to my eyes as I post. That young lady makes my time spent in hell worth the pain. God bless.
John Adams was indeed wise…
When I was younger I was so rabidly liberal that I actually began to consider a mixture of "democracy" socialism and communism as preferable to our intended form of government.
Thank God I was shaken into consciousness by the corruption conceit and deceit of Bill Clinton!
Waco and Ruby Ridge were the wake up calls, "the assault weapons ban" was further evidence of my well founded skepticism and Elian Gonzales was the final straw that sealed the deal!
At the moment that they sent Elian Gonzales to that evil hell hole in Cuba I swore to never bow to the insanity of progressive liberalism ever again and threw off the chains of my youth.
John Adams gave us great and unequaled wisdom in his words, if it wasn't for the last ten plus years of reflection on the words of the founders I may have never returned to God.
"“There is no such thing as human wisdom; all is the providence of God” ~ John Adams
Restoring Honor–is up to us, don't look to the MSM and especially don't look to Washington, neither one has a clue what honor is or what is at the heart of Americas problems.
Today in the paper, 70% of black Americans (I am sure that the percentage is very high for ALL groups this isn't only a black issue, this is an American issue) have children out of wedlock. Now let's just look at the surfice of this problem and the unintended consequences of government "honor".
If married no automatic health care for the pregnant mother and child, a very good reason to NOT get married.
If married no automatic welfare and health care for mother and child after the child is born, a very good reason not to get married.
If the father lives with the mother payments are stopped and they/he can even be prosecuted.
Anyway even if I have some of the above a off a little, the government is paying children to have children, the government is paying for bad behavior, the government is building welfare families.–then Sharpton speaks out for the "poor" and say's Reverend King would have wanted it to be this way.
This is the hard truth, schools fail all of these young people, social justice churches promote this "family" structure.
I wonder how many anchor babies are born out of wedlock??
That is my favorite quote from my favorite Founding Father.
Yep!
Fan those flames!
The BP well is plugged in the Gulf.
The Administration needs a major diversion to take folks minds off the failing economy and the Greatest Depression since the Great Depression.
Might as well rekindle the Katrina fire, the Mosque fire is burning out………..
You didn't even touch on the prison populations………….
Oh, what a beautiful little girl. I hope she made it out alive. ;-D
Sounded like her name was very African – could it be that her parents are right from Africa and appreciate the fact that this country is great and has so much opportunity and is way safer for them (as racist as we are /sarc) than a country filled with people of their own race.
Just a thought.
Whoever brought her, should be commended.
Further, someone should find them, and interview them.
That photo?
It gives me HOPE.
I pray that little girl can grow up, to be one of the ones to effectuate CHANGE.
What was the Glenn Beck Rally about?
Obama is lurching to statism, and omnipotent government. Beck is juxtaposing Individualism, and God given natural, unalienable rights against Obama's statism. That is our founding, the idea that redefined man's relationship to the universe and changed the world. There is no going back.
If Obama can diminish God as the fundamental grantor of our rights, and replace it with the state, then all is lost.
.
I did too.
Yup, and the stories of the heroism, as told by Palin, where awe inspiring, as of yet I haven't seen anything from any media outlet recognizing those stories, and no recognition of the medals either except Pejols. I can't even find the name of the other two recipients, I wanted a transcript fro the Black minister, I can't imagine what bravery it took for him to just be on that stage.
"While I was a little disheartened seeing the young man in the video wearing the Ron Paul shirt"
Ha. You think YOU were disheartened, Janet Napolitano has already had that kid listed as a potential domestic terrorist.
Liberals can't see that "and" for what it is, an acknowledgment that there is a divine universal moral code that drives us, they simply dismiss it as an attempt to impose an authoritarian religious state.
Classic progressive shortsightedness and deceit.
I could not agree more with OldMan Rick.
A hyphenated America is a divided America.
Much like UNIONS, racial identity and solidarity had a time and place for their exixtence,,,,but that time is passed. The more we use race identity the more Balkanized as a nation we become.
E Pluribus Unum – - – From Many – ONE
We are a nation of many people from many places,,,,and our cultural heritage is important to remember which ingredients constitute the banquet at which we dine,,,,,,but we are all AMERICANS FIRST!!
Returning to and upholding our founding principles of Liberty and Justice are key to our continued success. Not "Social Justice" but rather EQUAL JUSTICE,,,,,not 'Affirmative Action' nor 'Reparations',,,,but EQUAL OPPORTUNITY.
Get Government out of the business of favoring one group at the expense of another.
The federal government is a blunt instrument when what we need is measured, responsible and accountable actions to ensure EQUALITY that can only come from each community doing for itself what they know needs to be done.
Headline on Drudge: Policy options dwindle as Economic Fears Grow . . .
Somewhere in the bowels of the federal reserve . . .
Worker: "Mr. Bernanke what are you doing down here? You never want to see this part of the operation."
Bernanke: "If someone is going to order you boys to destroy the last bastion of liberty and freedom on earth I wanted to take full responsiblity for it. Call it my last shot at redemption"
Worker: "Mr. Bernanke didn't you go to the Glenn Beck rally? You know it doesn't work like that."
Bernanke: "Screw that. Where's the switch?"
Worker: "First we have to load in the paper and the ink . . "
Bernanke: "How much of that do we have left?" – "It doesn't matter just keep going till we run out of either by then it won't matter anyway."
Worker: "OK, Sir we are all set!"
Bernanke: "OK boys here we go . . ."
Worker: "Wait . . .Wait!!! . . . "
Bernakne: "What the hell else do I need to do?!?"
Worker: "Sign here sir . . . in triplicate . . .
Bernanke: "!?&%$%^$ing government. No wonder we are so screwed up . . ."
Worker: "You know sir we can just stop, and start doing the right thing."
Bernanke: "Nah . . . why break a perfect record of being absolutely wrong about economics . . . "
We often eat out on Saturday night, but last night I cooked at home and used the $50 to make another donation to the SOWF. I am so grateful for their sacrifices and for Glenn Beck.
I saw racists and bigots. I wasn't surprised though.
Precisely. Although I was a stupid young kid when Reagan first came to power and identified with the Democrats for some ungodly reason, what I remember now of Reagan was how upbeat he was, how positive he was. Same with George W. And I think that is why so many liked the both of them (although Reagan attracted more Democrat voters because not all Dems had gone off the rez at that point) – they were simply likable.
Obama just comes across as condescending. But so do pretty much all the Dems now, including Pelosi and Reid. There's nothing positive about his message. It's a series of left-handed compliments (no offense to our left-handed brothers and sisters ;-D ).
You give jews a bad name. Who would Mosses stand with Beck or Obama?
Ha. Being that I'm a Tea Party activist trapped in the People's Republic of Triple J. I'm quite certain that Nappy's got my name listed. right next to that boy's.
You always do. We speak from the abundance of our own hearts. It appears YOUR heart is full of racism and bigotry. Good luck with that.
You might be right.
I hear they canceled the gay Pride parade in Tehran this year. Nobody showed up……….
Boy howdy! I've never seen an Admin act pretty much like a banana republic – going after the opposition in a personal way, hiding the ball, and going after the former administration.
It's an embarassment.
And woe unto those who vilify God!
The reaction last night on here from the trolls was hilarious — talk about panicking!! How dare a half a million people go to DC and praise and worship God. I don't think one liberal slept good last night.
I have been a Christian since I was 19 years old and since then I have prayed for a revival for my country. I will be 38 next month and I believe God answered that prayer yesterday.
If the UN has anything to say about it (because Obama gave them the power to do this) people in this country like Jan Brewer will be charged with human rights violations. Becks rally came at the perfect time because people have been motivated to stand up to this muslim userper ( who will finance the Ground Zero Mosque) with our tax dollars.
People need a leader to give them hope and wake them up to the fact that we need to stand together in faith and help each other when the October surprise hits us. His message was clear: together we stand, divided we fall. Beck's rally has not only stirred up people but also the nest of the progressive killer bees.
The athiest God-hating administration has tried to eradicate our faith from this country but they will be eradicated first and yes, I believe that God will have a hand in this.
Pretty neat, huh?
Whoever thinks you can't see the invisible hand of God, doesn't have a clue. Sometimes, we must shut our eyes to see.
Really?
We'll pray for you.
I say he's our Samuel Adams . . . starting the "corespondence committees" (the 9/12 Project) writing the broadsides (his TV show, Radio Show), stirring and waking the American people toward Liberty and as a result, was hunted by the British (tell me the Left doesn't specifically have a bounty out on Beck's head).
"I saw racists and bigots. I wasn't surprised though."
Hahaha, wrong rally, Spew. We weren't discussing Sharpton's demonstration.
Something else I saw yesterday.
I think Glenn Beck was wearing a kevlar vest under his shirt.
"President Obama is a racist" -Beck
Fact Obama has more whites in his cabinet than Bush
Beck is not fit to shine MLK's shoes. MLk despised the right wing racists
“The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right.” – MLK Jr.
Wow, I never went that far! LOL! Glad to have you back!
Yeah, I lost respect for Democrats as a political party with Clinton (I voted for him in 1992 – my first election). I didn't vote at all in 1996 or 2000, but I watched the Dems go apoplectic with the whole Gore v. Bush thing and I realized that they really only want power. I still didn't identify with Republicans or conservatives. I was just middle of the road, depending on the issue.
9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq were the things that really got me started on listening to, watching and reading conservative and libertarian thoughts. By 2004, I was a full blown conservatarian. Still an independent, but I had principles now. I knew what I believed, finally.
I think that's why I love "Amazing Grace" – it doesn't describe be so much on the religious or spiritual side (although I have a newfound respect for religion that I had lost in my youth), but my political side – "I was blind, but now I see."
Maybe that's also why I identify with Beck – he, like most recovering substance abuse people, is very fervent in their newfound life. And that is how I feel about my conservatarianism. I am pretty passionate about it.
bird, you're right about the black minister, we need to continue to follow him, not only to monitor
the backlash he suffers, but because that man deserves a public forum in the SPOTLIGHT.
Speaking of bravery, I thought I could see the outline of a kevlar body-vest under Becks shirt.
That IS JUST SAD…..
.
Maybe we should learn the "Indian Love Song". Clinical studies have shown that it may have the same effect on liberals and trolls alike……
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MhgnMX73Pw
Yep, I saw that too. I can just imagine the death threats directed at Glenn last week.
Yeah, I always find it funny that they can side with the terrorists who want to create and have created religious states that are authoritarian in every evil way possible, including subjugating women, but when Christians want to say a prayer in school, they go apoplectic.
You know that is so personal to me…I have spent the last year stressing GOD and country to my grandchildren. My Grand-daughter was very puzzled when Grandma told her that the big flag flying over the car dealer near Walmart was "her (name) flag". She even fussed as if to say how can that big flag be mine? But on 7/4 when she got her own flag and was taught the Pledge of Allegiance she started to get it…she is 3 years old!
Never again will I allow anyone to dishonor what I know to be right…My country was founded on Christian values…I was raised with Christian values…May GOD bless America!!!
(For the Lib trollers…the last three words are not just fillers or a catchy tag line to end a speech….they are the American way….Christian!)
Good one.
Cowboy – The only lead story that should be shown each "anniversary" by the MSM is what happened to our great country on September 11, 2001 – That is a day we should NEVER forget and should be a reminder to all Amercians that looking back is in fact looking forward – to preserve our FREEDOMS. Somehow I think this year will be different due to controversy of the mosque. God Bless.
Awww. You are sweet. Usually those that claim they are the harshest, always have a soft spot for animals and children. My father in law is the same way. An ornery old cuss (like Oldman there ;-D ), but a real softy.
It proves the rule that "there's one in every crowd". Now, if everyone there was wearing an RP shirt, I'd have to re-evaluate a great many things.
"I'm a racist and bigot. Don't be surprised though."
There, fixed that for ya’
(Just ran that quote through the patented Anti-Politically Correct Filter. (Mfg. by Halliburton)
my thought exactly
I think they did show up, but all were missing their heads.
Repeating an earlier post:
"Goodbye liberal_Jew. You will end up a desperately lonely person, alone in your hatred; alone in your malice. Even those you think are your friends will despise you. You've earned our pity."
Nothing has changed.
Unlike "dear leader" I do believe that "salvation" is indeed found in an "individual" relationship with God, any other definition of it IS as the pope has recently stated, "evil".
Progressive liberalism exists in a world of "moral relativism" where even "murder as a way of life" could be considered as "acceptable" as a form of "legitimate" religion.
Morality is NOT relative, it is in fact an undeniable universal truth that "nearly" all humans agree on and firmly acknowledge.
It is indeed a very soulless sad and desolate world they live in…
That is a lie and you know it is.
Cowboy . . . I'm been trying to get the truth through these skulls for years, decades . . . thank you for your prayers maybe they will push 'em over the line.
Yeah, that woman was a real inspiration – an INDEPENDENT which means she thinks for herself.
I don't want to have this sound offensive in any way, but as the Tea Party has gone on and I have gotten into the conservative scene, seeing more and more blacks speaking up has been, well, uplifting. I'm so used to seeing them on the Left that I still haven't gotten used to seeing them on the Right.
It's heartwarming.
Again, no offense intended. I'm still relatively knew to the Right.
Wait a minute… Ahmahmadman said that there are no homosexuals in Iran.
Don't blame him, even the Secret Service wasn't taking chances. Saw them posted on top of the Lincoln Memorial all day. Couldn't spot others because of the crowd, but sure they were there.
Nick Gillespie doesn't strike me as a very "spiritual" person. I don't dislike him…on the contrary, I like much of what he has to say. I am not surprised that someone who came to that event out of intellectual curiosity would be confounded and perplexed. That's a natural result when you try to intellectually analyze God without the benefit of a spiritual relationship with Him.
Yeah, that was quite a strange video. That's why, sorry to say, I can never really get on board with Libertarians. Some stuff I agree with, but their other stuff, well, they are a little strange.
I learned that form Martin Luther King.
I'm going to stop fighting with them.
Smile and say a prayer for them.
It is like garlic to dracula. They go over the edge.
"Beck is not fit to shine MLK's shoes. MLk despised the right wing racists "
and Obama is not fit to shine Beck's shoes.
Like I said earlier, we'll all have a collective prayer meeting, just for YOU!
It reminds me of what I was taught in Catholic School: where two or more are gathered in his name, Jesus is there.
I think Jesus was there yesterday.
I had an atheist friend of mine say that my Christian beliefs are the same as Muslim Terrorists and that we are equally as dangerous. If she bothered to read the Bible in context, she'll see that God said men and women are equal in His sight. It's mind boggling how they defend and join up with evil and then claim to be the friend of our Founding Documents.
This regime did not expect a movement as strong as the Tea Party and the 912ers to sweep across our land. They have been beaten up this last year by us so much so, that all they can do is scream racism or get violent. October may just be scary…we will see.
and in the weeks to come. There is a comon thread of humanity and decency that runs thoughout all major religions. It is when we get down to the myriad flavors of each that the disconnect occurs. I fault no one of their religious views, I do though despair at how many use their flavor to discredit another's.
Basic humanity and compassion drive those of faith. Look to those tenets that unite us as a people and shun those that speak of one versus another. The religion of Islam is the ONLY religion that does not hold TOLLERANCE and FORGIVENESS as a core belief.
LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS – - – - EQUALITY for ALL
Spot on CL as usual!!
You know how they took down all the pohots, and the video footage of 9/11, because it might traumatize US?
BULLSHIT!
I saw put it back up, and run it on an endless loop, so that the world never forgets what those barbarians did to US. It is not Islamaphobia if they are REALLY out to kill you.
Nicely put and sums up why I rarely bother to try to discuss the issues with certain individuals.
The Never argue with a pig. It just frustrates you and irritates the pig parable applies.
I turned 18 just in time to vote for Reagan in 1980. I remember the lefties of the day screaming that he was going to "start a nuclear war," "he was dangerous." Of course none of that was true, but it serves as a reminder that the left has never changed; they still despise a strong and unified America, and they still rely on hatred, bigotry, fear and division to advance their goals.
Not to mention filing a report with the UN accusing a state in the Republic of human rights violations.
Embarrassing? H3!!, it's infuriating.
65 days until throw out the trash day.
I saw clips of the Rally with Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin on Breitbart TV. I then watched a few minutes (all I could stomach) of Al Sharpton's rally, with the Good Reverend speaking to the crowd. I was very much struck by the contrast in tone between the two rallies: the speachifying at Beck's rally was all positive and hopeful, while Sharpton's voice was a constant snarl of hatred, accusation, bitterness and resentment. It told the entire story of the difference between the Left and the Right.
What I saw was my local paper's web site (you know "The News") still, this morning, claiming "thousands" gathered.
What I also saw was that it only took them 2 paragraphs to mention Al "The Butcher of Freddies" Sharpton.
Good thing I canceled years ago and only go online to see how they cover events like this.
Nice piece Nick! It's things like this that restore my faith in our country. MSM let's see you try to trash this event. It'll make you even more irrelevant than you already are.
Amen.
