Unions Protesting Churches in California
by Ryan P. DixonUnions have stepped to a new low by protesting churches in California. Protesting churches because of their use of private contractors instead of union labor. Churches who only employ one or two pastors and one head administrator and operate off of donations.
In Bakersfield, California the local carpenters union is protesting the Grace Baptist Church for hiring a contractor who hired non-union labor. Grace Baptist Church had no control over who the contractor hired. You would think the local carpenters union would take a pass at protesting a church, but I guess not. Though the church greeted the protesters with water, coffee, cookies and candy. Do they feel bad for standing in front of a church with a “Shame On the Grace Baptist Church”? No.

Unions do nothing but protest. They have no qualms as to who or what they protest as long as they can get out there to do it. The rank and file who are there protesting probably don't even know why they are there a lot of the time.
Given that a group of Catholic scholars recently proclaimed that opposing unions is a mortal sin, it seems there is something more afoot.

As an under-employed carpenter, I would sure like to see carpenter unions (I'm not a member) out there protesting job sites where illegals are "doing the jobs that Americans just won't do". Oh that's right. It's not about employment. It's about power.
i would think if these unions were so great, they would offer to do the work for free, and show their appreciation for the faith of these highly religeous people. afterall, most leaders of most churches do not really make a living, but live off the generousity of their parishoners. but unions would try the pope extra, because the can. i guess the unions believe they can just go to sunday service and tell the churchgoers, put more money in the basket, because our union leaders need to support more marxist candidates in the next election.
Hey LU,
Sooo Catholic scholars are ponying up pro union….
hummm…gettin their ducks in a row for when NAMBLA forms a union? :-O
on second thought. perhaps we need to start a new support group. we have groups for alcohol, drugs, gambling, and even sex addicts. now is the time for union addicts, they need a support group to ween them off the public teet. the first place to try might be greece, or california. i see this should spread worldwide, as unions are now giving leeches a run for title of the best bloodsuckers out there.
in the 21st century labor unions are for lazy weak minded no work ethic wannabes who know their job is kept safe not by their own merit but by the bullying tactics of the criminal gang they stand with.
They're doing jobs Americans wont do…remember?
You know Dave, I hear this every time an article about a union protest. That the rank and file people protesting don't know why they are there. I would like to point out the fact that to me, this is just like buying something from these guys that drive around in the mall parking lots trying to sell you stereo equipment or whatever great deal they have. Something deep down tells you it's probably stolen but you can't resist the bargain.
You can't tell me that these people standing in the lines know that they are doing something morally wrong but they are going to claim ignorance as their excuse.
Try telling that to a judge when you break any law and he will tell you that ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it. I look at the useful idiots in the union the same way. At some point they know exactly what their bosses are up to.
It fails to mention who these 'scholars are'. It seems to me that you are just another "know Nothing Bigot" trying to push your anti- Catholis agenda. Go away to the fever swamps.
The Unions are going after a soft target, and a favorite of the Progressive/Socialist, a Christian church. Surprised? Nah, it is the Progressive/Socialist (and their Union muscle) favorite target because the idea is you get rid of God (and the Christian idea of Individual salvation) then the government can tell you what your rights are, not the Natural rights given by god. And remember, what the Govt. gives, it can take away. Meanwhile, the Unions are not saying a word about the construction of the Islamic Monument…errrr…excuse me… center at the WTC site, a 15 story building constructed without Union laborers. Hmmmmm imagine that. ;0)
Well said LIO, I have never been in favor of unions due to the fact that I worked with many ex-union hands that refused to do anything other than what was in their job description. Welders are famous for it. They will sit right there on the bucket for a 12 hour shift if need be if there is no welding to do, meanwhile everyone around him is killing themselves to get the job done and having to pull his weight as well.
Competition, value for value. If the Union was competative they might have got the job but because they were not they did not. Adapt, evolve, overcome and survive. Don't and become extint – it's not rocket science. Socialism would have given the union the job, you would pay more for less. Work comes to those with connections and not skill or talent. Overall quality declines and the spirit of creativity, inventiveness, and work ethic becomes extinct. What world do you want to live in?
Unions push up labor costs with ZERO derived rise in worker quality – in fact the opposite occurs – the tear that unions are on – unions that were slippimg into obscurity – is alarming.
If they operated "honestly and fairly" (LOL!) that would be on thing – that they DON'T, and are a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Socialist Democrat Workers Party makes them that much MORE EVIL and despicable (pronounced like Daffy Duck would pronounce despicable).
Let's PULL the PLUG on SEIU/AFL-CIO et al and their orbiting criminal subsidiaries this November – vote like your country's very SURVIVAL depends on it – because it does.
Unions are dying and this is just another in their episodes of "connect the dots" until everyone sees the picture.
What ever happened to freedom of choice?
Goons v God!
Looks like the thugs have no boundaries, next they'll be protesting in front of their
Grandma's houses!!
If unions are great for their members and for the U. S. A., why aren't these picketers busy working somewhere – doing something productive? Unions have sunk to the same level as Phred Phelps and his hate cult.
If you are really a labor union rep…you need to get a real job!!
The union worker said in the video that he is Christian, yet he sees nothing wrong with protesting a church. Yeah, that makes sense.
The lady in the video is a class act. I think the church members handled the situation in a way that honored God.
Trying to FORCE churches to hire 'union only' workers!?? They must be in with the illegal's running this country!
If you listen to the whole interview the two idiots he's talking to admit that they aren't even carpenters, just paid protesters. I guess the cable got cut off and they ran out of beer, Oh well, time to call the hall and go protest another church so we can get back to sitting on the porch and drink some more. This is a sweet life ain't it!!
Communist unions are what destroyed the Mexican economy and national Govt. of Mexico. The illegal aliens are fleeing to us to be free but the union are now enslaving the illegals from Mexico inside the USA.
This international Communist movement is manifesting itself in the Unions. Just look at all the thug tactics bringing down Greece and all the other unionized nations of the world. The Chi Coms won't have to enslave us in order to take over. The communist Unions are doing it for them. The SEIU has it's hobnailed boot on the throat of the Democrats.
Did you notice the word "international " in that name?
Agree. What's appalling is the rank and file union sheeple that these hardcore semi-criminal goons farther up the union thug chain are able to activate. Belonging to a union doesn't mean that you've surrendered with your dues principles of acting decently in a civil society. What's wrong with these people? Indeed.
this only reaffirms that unions will stoop to anything– especially after union head honchos depleted the funds built from mandatory membership dues, with no new sources due to the fact that the membership base is shrinking, because people in general are now wise to their scam operations–
It's still there, you just have to choose between the union contractor.
Very revealing video. So it's the union guys that think Obama is a Muslim who wasn't born in this country. Oh, and they think 9-11 was an inside job, set up by George W. Bush so he could get the Patriot Act and invade Iraq. What idiots and pathetic losers. Apparently all the smart and competent carpenters in Bakersfield aren't in a union.
The church is handling this beautifully – quite frankly, with a lot more maturity and grace than I could have.
And good work Ryan! The unions are learning that sunlight (and YouTube) scatters the cockroaches.
What ever happened to freedom of religion too?
Unions are looking more and more like urban gangs. Flexing their muscle against weaker opponents. Just like gangs they are nothing but punks who are afraid of taking on life's challenges by themselves. They need to have help because they are lazy workers who would rather get paid for doing nothing rather then a hard days work. They are killing the American dream and replacing it with a nightmare. Union members should be taxed at a very high rate because they have a benefit that others don't. TAX THE UNIONS BENEFIT by taxing unions unfair advantage.
Listening to the interview, at least one of them admitted he wasn't even a carpenter. So his mental skills probably didn't allow him to make the cut as a real carpenter so the poor guy is probably doing all he is capable of.
Union's got to pay somebody to protest, might as well keep the real carpenters on the job and let these idiots carry the water bucket for El Hefe, right!
I agree grapej. The typical excuse we heard after the Allies liberated the Nazi concenration/death camps was "I dunno, er… what happened there?" and feigned surprise. The wives of Mafia kingpins always have this shocked look that says "Daddy did what – to whom?"
The rank & file MUST know exactly what leadership is up too, they're in it for the extra wages sucked out of the target business.
I was in a union as a dopey 19 y.o.for 6 months until I figured out how that extortion plot worked – they try to suck businesses dry by raising labor costs AND syphon money out of the workers checks as "dues" at the same time. Like bookies – they win no matter what.

The "scholars" are from "Weymouth, Mass.-based Catholic Scholars for Worker Justice." A quote:
"In laying out their argument, the scholars said efforts to deny workers the right to organize violate the First, Fifth and Seventh commandments regarding idolatry, scandal and theft, respectively. Joseph Fahey, professor of religious studies at Manhattan College in New York City and chairman of the scholars group, told Catholic News Service May 14 that the statement analyzes the criteria for mortal sin much like a priest would during the sacrament of reconciliation. "We said, 'What commandments does (breaking a union) violate? What specific matters of Catholic teaching does it go against? Is it a grave matter? If it is, is there an objective case for mortal sin?" Fahey explained."
FYI, it doesn't appear these people are mainstream Catholics, so it's unfair to tar all Catholics because of this one group's idiocy.
Here is the electronic version of my new book "Great Achievements and Innovations Spurred By 20th Century Labor Unions" :
" "
Did you enjoy it?
If you read "The Importance of Labor Unions in the 21st Century" I apologize. It is essentially identical in content. But hey, no trees were harmed, no carbon footprint was left and most important- no union labor was involved in their production!
I lived in a Union stronghold area and yes, there are some rank and file out there that believe everything the union bosses say. They blindly follow and are truly ignorant of many of the things they go out to protest on.
I know a few of these union sheep from the area I previously lived in. Oh they have morals and are decent people in the neighborhood but they do put their morals and decency aside when the union bosses tell them to grab a sign. One complained to me once that he couldn't hit the links because he had to go to some union protest against a business he frequents and likes but the union said go so he went.
[...] Unions Protesting Churches in California [...]
I too am an under-employed carpenter…on the other side of the country. I refuse to join a union. I work in a "right to work" state. It's not about unions where I live. It's about not being able to compete with companies who hire illegal immigrants. We've lost several jobs because these companies undercut us by as much as 50 cents on the dollar. These companies pay illegals 10 bucks an hour for 20 dollar an hour work. We're cutting our bids as low as we can go to the point we're not making any profit, just wages.
Or worker quantity. In Oregon when we used to have a timber industry, strikes at mills that would cause management to come in and do the day to day operations, production would jump to record levels.
" I prayed for a job the night before and I ended up here"
Union goonery aside, this is a Sunday story about God. Those poor souls now have an entire congregation praying for them. I would expect one if not all of these guys to end up singing "Amazing Grace" all misty eyed in some pew somewhere in short order. You see, God does have a sense of humor. And all he asked for was a job……
My husband worked for a union when we were first married. They do hire illegals. The union that my husband worked at is almost bankrupt and 80% of the contractors have no work. Good!…I say. We moved to a right to work state as well. I don't miss the high taxes we had to pay living in a big union and welfare state.
As an electrical contractor in Arizona with a merit shop , over 15+ years I hired plenty of JWs out of the local 640. That's right, the guys that were sittin' in the hall, not working., and still having to pay the bills (and union dues), came to my job sites looking for work. I won't opine about other trades, but a sure way know you're getting shoddy electrical work is to look for the union T-shirts on the job. Seems like union shops care more about their own benefits than taking pride in their craft.
Unions = Hitlers' Brown Shirts.
'nuff said
I worked in the car business for many years and for the most part sales is the ultimate meritocracy – you sell – you succeed. Unions coddle and shield deadwood from being cleared out. Unions are by defintion anti-American.
I had an uncle (who has passed) who was the lead negotiator for the Airline Pilots Association. We would have tremendous loud arguments – me as a teenager – he as a seasoned arguer – little did he know, he was training me for later and my quest to tear down what he helped build.
Uncle Pat was a degenerate National Socialist Democrat Workers Party guy too. He was a devout Catholic and a Democrat which should be oxymoronical – a natural incongruence – so I'd hammer him on that too.
The unions think they have a friend in Barry, so they'll continue to harass and intimidate as long as Obama sees them as his personal "brown shirt" army ready to do his bidding. The funny part is they are actually Obama's slaves! How's that hopey-changey thing working for you, union members. Remember to bow to your master!
My father in law was in the Carpenter's Union for 25 years. He supervised state jobs such as schools and universities. He had to supervise minorities who were paid 25 bucks and hour just to pick up nails…..thanks to Affirmative Action.
What you are saying here is spot on! When I lose a job because someone is bidding below cost, something is wrong. But what compounds that is, in this state just try to report an employer that hires illegals. Their answer; "Not my job".
Rckmom:
You need to re-read the LaborUnionRpt moniker. "Rpt" is different than "rep"…"Rpt" stands for "report."
People read the link – this guy is ANTI -UNION. There's great list of BAD THINGS UNIONS can do to UNION WORKERS. Fines, FIRINGS etc…
As for the anti-Catholic stuff – I didn't bother with that – it's Hollywood and Democrats – British people – everybody is on the anti-Catholic "bandwagon" yet I was at the Vatican last summer and HUGE ENORMOUS crowds show up on on thursdays to see the Pope speak. Like clockwork. 2000 years of history v. negative swipes? My $$ is on the Church winning that one.
The courage of your convictions is very commendable. Especially having to go up against your uncle.
Education is the key, isn't it? So, it follows that to turn the tide of the "National Socialist Democrat Workers Party", the teacher's unions has to be abolished next.
If it pays! They're the ones with no shame.
We elected a progressive/Socialist elite that thinks they know what is good for us.
Nah, were are a family that argues for sport and recreation! Not ugly venom spitting arguing, just healthy back and forths. I am fully capable of spit and venom – just not with family.
It prepared me for Brietbart and the "Bigs"!
Union's idea of employee of the month, while sitting on ones hands; "I have two speeds. You don't want to see the other one."
As a 18 year old I worked for a truck rental company in San Diego. The union came in and tried to get us to unionize. We rejected them. They weren't happy campers. Oh well. I still hate them today.
Dude. You need to do a better job in your initial post. It's confusing and oblique. People (rightfully so) think you're attacking both the Catholic Church AND you're PRO union. I read the link, you have some good info.
Make a better intial post – please – constructive criticism.
There have been many books written in the past, by Catholics and non-Catholics alike, about Satan tearing the church down from within if he couldn't do it from the outside. This is not a new argument, but it seems that the Catholic church has been infiltrated by bad priest who push agendas that go against the mainstream techings of the church.
A few years back my mother-in-law was into the Eastern Star and my father-in-law was a mason. I used to try to tell them that those organizations were in direct conflict with the teachings of the church. Mother-in-law had a hissy fit and told me that her priest told her that it was OK now because he was a litergist and he knew more than I did. This was right after the new Chatecism came out which specifiacally prohibited church members from recieving communion if they were members of these organizations. When I showed her the proof she went into the typical, stick your finger in your ears, I can't hear you mode like a five year old. Refusing to look into the facts for herself.
Same thing is happening to the country. They are depending on the sheeple to follow along blindly ubtil it is too late to mount any meaningful protest.
I had projects in Az, Nv, and a couple in Tx. Not once did any of the local unions approach my crews 'above board' with offers of improved wages, benefits, or job security. It was always intimidation, subversive recruitment, surprise votes (they always lost), and outright vandalism. I don't deal well with organizations that try to lure me and my guys (and a couple of outstanding women electricians) into the 'brotherhood' through thuggery.
That's what "card check" is all about. Exposing amybody who "goes against" their peers when it comes time to vote whether to unionize.
Of course it doesn't work when the vast majority says "NO"!
The land of the free and the home of the fascist Unions.
I've surely seen the Unions do a lot of disgraceful despicable things but this is a new low. The Carpenters Union hun? Jesus was a Carpenter and I don't think he was Union. Maybe they will protest Jesus next.
The real shame is on the Carpenters Union, not the Baptist Church.
Because the Vatican is "the" authority on Church matters, I would look there for the Church's position on unions.

LOL!
Once the useful idiots outlive their usefulness, O and Co. will hit them in the pocketbook. I forsee the union health care plans no longer being exempt from taxes, since the HC disaster is so far in the red. That might make them turn into Constitution-loving conservatives overnight….OR they'll whine about O "betraying" them. Wonder which will happen.
RIght on that, but they will intimidate and bully until the end.
I worked on the river for a few years as a deck hand on a tug. Deck hands have never been unionized, at least not where I live, but the longshoremen and crane operators are. The longshoremen went on strike and didn't have a problem at all with us going to work because we were not a threat to them, they also had a gentlemen's agreement with the Operators/Engineers union to cross the picket line. All was fine until about three months in to the strike when these guys started missing house notes and car notes and started losing stuff.
They proceeded to start shooting at the operators in their cranes from the levees, running people off the road, one guy hit a pole and was killed. They also trashed the buses that workers were being hauled in on. And when everything was finally settled and they got back on the job almost immediately equipment started having serious mechanical problems and some even disappeared in the cargo bays of ships and were found when they were unloaded on the other side of the world.
Wonderful bunch of guys, don't you think!
I've a few friends (couple of plumbers, fitters, a mason) who spent years working in the northeast part of the country, where being union is de rigueur, before coming out west. Any one of them will tell you that if their unions were to 'find out' that they had steady employment with non-union companies, at very least they would lose all retirement benefits, at worst……?
// "The church is handling this beautifully – quite frankly, with a lot more maturity and grace than I could have. " //
Ditto, that. I'd have made the cookies with chocolate Ex-Lax.
Ya, real "gentleman and scholars" huh? Can you imagine committing a murder over a union issue? I know it happens all the time, but what a twisted mind set.
That's my explanation for WHY postal workers …er…go POSTAL.
When they get fired from the Postal Service they KNOW that nobody else will OVER PAY them by FOUR TIMES what they are actually worth.
It's a good thing to have an organized work force, especailly for emergencies. In the good old days, an electrician earned the same annual salary as a Doctor.
The intimidation tactics is The European Way of doing things, not Christian, American.
Unfortuneately the Unions are politicized as a Socialist Group, and most members are not aware of that fact!
We used to call non-union work groups S.C.A.B.s in the early 1900's. This acronym means: Socialist, Capitalist, Atheist, Brotherhood.
At the time, we were still a Christian-Oriented Republic. Now, of course we aren't. The Unions were hi-jacked by The Progressive Party thought, just as the school system was, the banking system was, the tax systems all were hi-jacked by The Progressive movement.
As a Union Electrician, I would say: "Lies are in Series, and Truth is in Parallel".
The Union Carpenter's Protest gives them the label of S.C.A.B. Their minds are "crippled" with "Causes" and "Dissents", The minds of their leadership(s) are socialist sick!
It has ever been so.
Good work on the interviewing. You look so cute and harmless they felt comfortable saying just about anything crazy. I am impressed yet again by your work.
What, no trolls commenting on this post ? Is there a 'troll union' ? The 'BUTT' ? Blogging Union of Twisted Trolls' ? If there is, one of the requirements must be that they don't work on Sundays.
Can they protest and harass Dick Cheney, while he's hunting, next?
I doubt they would. Something about capable Patriots scares them into attacking the weaker.
All unions have their roots in Communism. Since Communists have disavowed God, why would this surprise anyone? I feel sorry for those men. Just like Judas, they have taken the money.
They'll whine. But mostly they'll be trying to "graduate" to the SEIU.
Those guys were pissed because the company wanted to cut their paid holidays back from 25 days a year to 16 and also if they got called out after they finished their initial 12 hour shift, they got paid for another full 12 hours even if they only worked a few hours.
A lot of the guys doing this work didn't even have high school educations and were making over 100,000 a year and this was back in the early 80's. This whole setup was mostly family and friends of family who had done this work for years. If you didn't know somebody you didn't have a chance in Hell of getting hired.
I never wanted any parts of it because of the "hook-up" mentality. Just like having a politician help you out with a business contact. At some point in time you have to pay the piper and they will extract their payment, even if they have to take it out of your a$$.
by the way the vote was 100% against the union!!!
This is not the case for our Local #494 area. We have mandatory up-grade training schools thru our Union and thru or with our Electrical Contractors. We also have to pass a State Licensing exam that an EC would have to take in order to Pull Permits. However, The JW can not pull his own permit!
However, I must admit, usually the non-union worker will work harder, or work 9 hours for 8 hours pay and cut other deals.
And as you & I know that safety training is a constant issue, at all times. A couple of years ago, a Non-union EC hired his relative who had been a meat-cutter to do small tasks. He was installing replacement ballasts over a stainless steel sink, with the circuit still on. He's D.O.A., Oh, no life insurance for family members.
The smart and competent carpenters in Bakersfield are too busy working and being successful to bother with legal extortion like this.
The Union members I guess don't realize they are only increase the riches of their bosses; not themselves.
How far have the unions AND their members fallen….today they are OUR Iranian Basiji….they are but thugs dressed in their SEIU purple shirts….they invade, trespass, terrorize…does no one see similarities to prewar Germany?
Just when you think the SEIU can't get any lower – they do. Next they will be kicking old ladies using walkers and drowning kittens in protest of non-union veternarians or something – or have they already done those things? ahow can anyone have any respect or trust in these unions?
And, so we are discussing the "Blue Collar" side of organizations. What about the "White Collar" side of organizations, the A.M.A. for example.?
They're organized to keep their salaries up as high as possible!
Various Associations are "Unions" for their Causes, whether it be for good or bad.
Union hours, you know. It's too early for them.
My father in law is now having to fight the state for his pension because the state is broke. He lives in the Upper Midwest. I remember him pushing my husband to join a union because it offered 'security'. We wanted to start our own business and be self employed, but we were told that was 'stupid.'
My husband did work for the union for about three years. They called my house ONCE to tell me ….not to get Bushwacked During the 2000 election. The next time they called I cut him off and said…did you call to tell me how to vote? He backtracked and said..no ma'am just want to remind you of your civic duties.
Yep they need to hire more of those nice sweet mexcians that would be such a positive for the USA
Mexico City, Mexico (CNN) — A prison warden in the Mexican state of Morelos was abducted as he reported to work Saturday morning and his dismembered body was found later in four locations in the city of Cuernavaca, the government-run Notimex agency reported.
The warden was identified as Luis Navarro Castaneda, director of the Atlacholoaya prison.
Written messages were left with the body remains, Notimex said. The news agency did not report what the messages said.
Navarro's abandoned Toyota truck was found near the prison, Notimex said.
No arrests had been announced as of Sunday morning.
Might as well start protesting at my front door – as an architect, I have personally declared that not a single union hand will ever touch one of my projects.
It shows the desperation of the unions.
Over all my years as a card carrying member of the Catholic Church, I have never heard one word about supporting unions from the pulpit or otherwise. And this mortal sin thingy is so much hot air.
The giveaway was the moment the words, "social justice" come into play. Beware those two words and any Church speaking them from the pulpit.. It's communism and new world order speaking, not the Word of God.
This is just showing the desperation of the unions
I heard the protesters in the video say they work (or protest really) Tuesday through Friday. Must be nice to have a three day weekend. I guess they have to sleep off their hangover on Mondays.
And the thirty pieces of silver so to speak is funded by the taxpayer.
I guess they hold to that old axiom that " Ignorance is bliss ". I know I'll probably piss a few people off with this analogy but I beleieve the unions and the Mason's are run the same way, and my father-in-law was a member of both, so I have first hand experience.
I truly believe that they put an escalating amount of responsibility and knowledge on the membership and see how they react. If they have no problem with the agenda they move further up the ladder. Once they object to the policies or procedures they are stopped in their progression and never advance any further. The " enlightened " members then move on to the next candidate who will agree and he moves up the ladder. This is how they build the leadership to continue on in the future.
I could be totally wrong, but I have read up on this quite a bit and have been exposed to both organizations and there are striking similarities in their modus operandi. Also there are an extraordinary amount of folks who hold memberships in both organizations. Conspiracy theory, I don't know, I'm just saying!
Just as it was in Jesus' day…how ironic. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Yep, there is nothing new under the sun.
I wonder, how did this union know about who the church chose for a contractor? Did this union put in a bid for this job? If they did, I'm sure the bid was three or four times higher than a bid from a non union contractor.
Pedrosito, read the post…
The headline that came out a couple of weeks ago is exactly as stated "Catholic scholars…" It is a pro-union splinter group of Catholic scholars that stated it. But if you read the entire post, you'll see the irony in the statement. [BTW: Nothing to do with anti-catholicism, more to do with hypocrisy from these scholars.]
That said, the confluence of unions either attacking churches or using splinter groups of religious "scholars" to further their agenda is pathetic and there is something more to it.
DIS-BAND ALL UNIONS! No Com Immig.Reform" That's CODE for Amnesty! No Millions Illegals here! Deport them ALL according to FED.LAW!.Keep an eye on OBAMA/UNION PARTNERSHIP THEY WANT TO RUIN AMERICA.
I'm sure the Church Administrator gave the contractor a target budget to meet and the contractor chose the subs based on their ability to meet that target. My guess is that the union is keeping tabs on all of the non union shops and then harasses all of their clients. Big Gov ran a story on this a couple of months ago. It also took place in CA if I remember correctly.
Also, it appeared to me from the video that the picketers were set up on church property. If so, the Church showed remarkable restraint in not having them forcibly removed.
