Big Labor to Submit Walker Recall Petitions Today
by PubliusMADISON, Wis. (AP) – Supporters of an unprecedented effort to oust Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker from office said they will turn in more than enough signatures Tuesday to force the Republican into a recall election barely a year into his first term.
Walker, however, has no plans to be anywhere near the Capitol when recall organizers turn in the signatures by Tuesday’s deadline. The governor is scheduled to be in New York when organizers say they will be unloading the stacks of petitions, weighing a ton, from a truck and hauling them into the state election board’s offices.
The signature drive started two months ago, largely in reaction to a law pushed by the governor last year that ended nearly all collective bargaining rights for most public workers. Organizers say they have gathered far more than the 540,208 signatures required to force the election against both Walker and GOP Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefish. If so, it would mark the first time such a recall campaign has been mounted against a Wisconsin governor.
Organizers say they also will turn in enough signatures targeting the Wisconsin Senate majority leader and three other GOP senators.
Once the recall petitions are in, the Government Accountability Board must certify that organizers have gathered enough signatures.

I wonder which cemetery will have the most signatures?
Governor Walker will win the recall election because the foolish waste of taxpayer dollars on this fit being thrown is being seen for what it is.
Walker's leadership is quality, and all one need do is look to their southern neighbor to see what the Occupy position of raising taxes and keeping the spending and borrowing and delaying payments does.
Illinois has taken the path that the Walker opponents desire. SO compare the two states fiscal health……..Wisconsin is winning that comparison hands down, by a long shot.
"……..when organizers say they will be unloading the stacks of petitions, weighing a ton, from a truck and hauling them into the state election board’s offices……."
Didn't know Disney had that many characters.
Only communists work for Unions.
Each and every signature needs to be checked and verified. I'll bet right now that at least half will be tainted in one way or another. This recall election will never happen if care is taken now. To all good men, the time to fight is now! More is at stake this election cycle than at any time in our great nations history. Let us save this republic for our children.

This'll be a union job, too, which means one guy operates a fork-lift, two guys stand off to the side talking, and a fourth guy goes somewhere else to complain about working conditions.
I'm sure, Mickey and Minnie were doing more than holding hands….
I hope and pray the voters of Wisconsin slam the unions down hard and defeat this sham of a recall by a stunning margin. I would love to sort through those signatures and see how many are listed as Chuck E. Cheese,Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Wile E. Coyote,Jesus H. Christ, etc.
If I was living in WI, I'd do anything to help Walker keep his job. Since I'm not a residence there, all I can do is send him my prayers.
Big Labor is the number one reason everything is made in China today.
Ah, I cannot wait until we look back upon those "silly" Obama years with a bit of a smile and real conviction in our souls. They tried to make up down and left right. Being called a rasict became a four year badge of honor. Yep good times in the future looking back at the train wreck of the left. I'd say mid summer 2013 ought to do it!
Out of State peoples can send in small contributions.
Please keep the prayers coming. I live in Wisconsin and I AM doing everything I can to help Gov. Walker. I voted for him and I intend to keep him in office.
This is the first time in 15 years my taxes went down. Walker got rid of a $3.6 Billion deficit, didn't raise taxes and created a climate in the public work sector so that they didn't have to lay off workers.
Here in Wisconsin, people are NOT happy with this Recall. They are upset at the waste of our money and the fact that this is a 'sour grapes' recall based on the liberals unhappiness with the election results. When I have seen these petitioners standing around town I have rarely seen more than 1-3 people by them signing. I know they are harrassing people. They followed my friend throughout a grocery store until the manager had to tell them to stop because they are not allowed to do that. Walker supporters will be working to verify the signatures and weed out anything that needs contesting. I would not be surprised to find many dead people, cartoon characters and other wrong things on the list. Btw I will be one of the people helping verify.
While that would be amusing, my guess is that the Progs & Unions learn and have shifted just enough; addresses may be more pertinent, how many "Smiths" are actually at XXX Main St.?
It's a damn shame that a man (Walker) won the election fair and square, yet the corrupt left can force him out of office, just because he is trying to save the state from bankruptcy.
Maybe some enterprising graduate student in Madison will research and analyze the statistics of the 'signatures'. My guess is that they couldn't even achieve a 95% confidence level. Some of the union boasts stipulate that they may have as much as 50% more signatures than required. You have to wonder why they might need so many more than the required number.
That's a fairly artistic picture. As far as pictures go. It needs a title.
"What the people don't understand, they still sign, dark clouds on the horizon"
The fact that they have a ton of signatures says that there is an effort to overwhelm the system rather than have valid signatures. Sounds like a giant easter egg hunt and Walker's volunteers, I am confident, will get er done.
Showing up with a truck load of paper means nothing. Kind of like the way union ballots show up when an election is in doubt–Al Gore, Al Franken, every Mayor of Baltimore ever 'elected' all Kennedy's and God only knows where the CBC buys their ballots! The one grand fluke where it didn't work was for one of the dumbest Kennedy's ever, Kathleen Kennedy-Townshend. She was Lt Governor of Maryland but most of her money came from out of state and out of country. I guess she didn't rely on the union ballot boys quite enough. You see, there really are angels, even in Maryland!
You would think so, but the unions don't even use union labor when they need the job done! They even use scabs to man the picket lines (paying cash, no taxes).
Not in Wisconsin! The Wisconsin GAB stated that they are only going to verifiy the signatures that are brought to their attention.
so bring them ALL to their attention.
Too bad there can't be some some sort of faulty wiring fire in the area where the ton of signatures are stored. All wiring is done by unions, isn't it? Would save the working taxpayers of Wisconsin a ton of money.
Recall was never meant to be this! It was meant to remove a official who was incompetent, not political revenge. Gov. Walker isn't that. He came through on his promise and HIS REFORMS ARE WORKING!
That's something that Big Labor won't tell you.
That's a lie. Like most Americans, union membership includes people from all points of the political spectrum. I don't believe that more than a tiny fraction would claim allegiance to communist ideas.
All of that was possible without attacking collective bargaining. And he wouldn't be facing a recall now.
The polls show that about 56 percent of respondents favor the recall. So either you are mistaken or just lying.
He lied to get elected, so he deserves what he gets. Had he campaigned against collective bargaining he would have never been elected in the first place.
Seems pretty obvious to me. You collect extra signatures to ensure you have enough to meet the requirements of the law, and to show the voters you can. The stupid strategy would be to do it like Gingrich did to get on the VA ballot. He collected just enough signatures and when several hundred were disqualified he failed to get on the ballot.
State law says the signatures are valid until proven invalid. Better get busy.
maybe a couple bucks, too
You are absolutely wrong. Do some homework:

Breibots like to share their anecdotal experiences. "My friends and I are not happy, therefore, most people aren't happy."
The recall was taken very seriously by those involved. They are/were well aware that all votes would be counted and contested, so they followed the rules to the letter. The results are NOT going to show bunches of dead people or cartoon characters. Removing Walker is just the first step in a long battle.
Wisconsin will learn like Ohio did that the unions will spend tens of millions to promote their greedy arrogant agenda. Unions are dog chit on my shoe. With the way they have turned into socialist agenda organizations that work for Obama, I will buy nothing that is union made. I even stopped shopping at store that are union affiliated. Yep, I can vote with my wallet and it feels goooood.
The likes of groups like ACORN are circulating the petitions. Many are from SEIU and the AFL CIO who use very strong arm tactics to intimidate you to sign it. If you had 2 big thugs that stood in your way and asked you to sign it, I am sure you would. And yes, they have to have many more than needed as there will be a large number of signatures from Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and other made up names. Liberals are a sore on the ass of America.
That's true. Most union members are hostages to their leadership, They need the job, so they go along to get along; there's no choice in the matter.
Well, if Wisconsin is that overcome with SEIU and AFL CIO strong arm canvassers aka thugs, they are a lost cause. Merely showing up with a truck load of paper is a formality to initiate an election and anyone coerced into signing a strong arm petition will have the opportunity for justice at the polls. Besides, you just can't justify shooting someone for being a big stupid union thug. Even if it was a mercy killing!
Of course it seems simple to you. Simpleton. To borrow a line from Jimmy Buffett, flaming lib as he may be, "don't ever forget that you just might end up being wrong!" I don't care where Gingrich shows up but there might be another reason why he failed to comply with Virginia's registration rules. In the case of Wisconsin, their behavior insinuates that they reasonably expect about a 50% rejection rate for the petitions. And that seems reasonable, that they probably came up with about 250,000 qualified signatures. Such a waste of time. The law is already a statute!
Really the question is, should the state in be such uproar about this legislation? It’s certainly not without precedent (http://bit.ly/pXbwCd), and there definitely needed to be changes made to a system where public employees were paying almost nothing into their pensions and health care plans.
What you’re left with is essentially a normal Republican/Democrat election based on party lines. It seems unwise to let partisanship dictate the course of recall election. You are essentially setting a precedent where any politician with aggressive politics is open to a recall election.
Obviously the mounting cost on taxpayers in the state is one thing, but with such an easily triggered recall process, you have to worry about the state getting into an endless cycle of elections that prevent any progress from being made. Clearly this debate has long lasting implications, and it will be interesting to see how citizens of the state vote.
Workers Unions are by definition Communist.
Better Dead than Red.
You guys are using it cause liberals didn't get their way.
Tell me smart guy. What laws did Gov. Walker break. How did Walker violate the Wis. Constitution?
Can you tell me that?
A long battle for what? Bankrupting the state? What happens when the state runs out of money? Would the unions be happy receiving IOU's? Or perhaps when more than a few are laid off, they might get the message that the state can't afford all the promises the Dems make in their quest to buy votes. In the meantime, the average taxpayer is sick and tired of having to foot the bill.
He vowed to balance the budget. You should be grateful. Otherwise, enjoy your IOU's or perhaps you'll be one of those laid off. Times are tough. Just ask Barky. He contemplates the equal parts misery and poverty he doles out while improving his golf game. It's good to be king.
Yes, I can see you care about accuracy and fairness. The taxpayers are sick of seeing their taxes raised for a small and not very effective bunch of entitlists. If the state goes bankrupt, enjoy your IOU's.
I notice how you aren't upset that Barky lied his way into office. He came off as a Centrist until after his inauguration. Now his full-blown Marxist colors are shining through. This recession would have been over 2 years ago except for his failed Socialist/Marxist policies.
Keep up the delusion. Walker's opponents have filed petitions containing more than one million, that is right folks, one million signatures. HMMMM http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/recall... If "big labor" is to blame for this, I would say they must be really, really big. Perhaps a more accurate spin is the people of Wisconsin do not like a governor who did not disclose in his campaign he intended to bust the unions. But cheer up, Walker will make an excellent vice-presidential candidate because he will have lots and lots of time on his hands come June/July.
If Wis. votes out Gov. Walker, I will never step foot in that state again. I am a big Packer fan and live in Illinois. If he loses I will consider Wis. a cesspool and stay away.
Hell, yeah I'm upset.
But the US constitution doesn't have recall in it. This is about Wis. not the US.
I highly doubt that. The unions might have played along for while until they thought no one was paying attention. Then they'd go right back to plundering the state treasury for their own benefit. As soon as things started to improve, they would demand raises to make up for what they had to give up during this round of negotiations. Walker understands that Wisconsin's budget problems are systemic. A one or two year quick fix will not be sufficient to save the state from financial ruin.
Perhaps, but I'm merely stating the obvious truth.
Be kind, rewind.
Smoke em if you got em
only dopes smoke dope
a bird in the hand….
Scan them all, upload them, and ask for volunteers to take 1-3 sheets, enter the names into an Excel list, along with the address; have them find the precinct and ward from online sources, and note that in the list. Aggregate the Excel lists, and start sorting and checking for duplicates. By organizing them by part of the city, the Walker supporters can relatively quickly check for phony addresses, too many people at one address, and, when in doubt, physically check the residents at that address – get certified statements if those people claim not to have signed (signatures for comparison, too).
It can be done – it just needs organization. Use student Republican clubs, children of Walker supporters, etc.
The best defense is a good offense that prevents the recall from taking place. Going back afterwards is less effective.
