Two-Month Payroll Tax Holiday Cannot Be Implemented Properly

Officials from the policy-neutral National Payroll Reporting Consortium, Inc. have expressed concern to members of Congress that the two-month payroll tax holiday passed by the Senate and supported by President Obama cannot be implemented properly.
Pete Isberg, president of the NPRC today wrote to the key leaders of the relevant committees of the House and Senate, telling them that “insufficient lead time” to implement the complicated change mandated by the legislation means the two-month payroll tax holiday “could create substantial problems, confusion and costs affecting a significant percentage of U.S. employers and employees.”
ABC News obtained a copy of the letter, which can be read HERE. Isberg agreed that it would be fair to characterize his letter as saying that the two-month payroll tax holiday cannot be implemented properly.
The NPRC is a non-profit trade association that does not take positions on policy. The group represents organizations that provide payroll processing and services to more than 1.5 million employers, impacting one third of the private sector.

Whoops, Harry Reid hates it when he is called out for not reading his own bills….
What should've been a slam dunk for conservatives has now become a disaster. Now, because Mr. Boehner has dug in his heels at a most inopportune time by insisting that the payroll tax reduction be permanent, it now looks like once again the Republicans have been backed into a corner and they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Isn't there anyone that has taken Strategy 101? Gotta hand it to the Dems though – they know how to play hardball when it counts!
But harry reid has already suspended the Senate for the holidays. He knows the House Republicans are going to vote "no" on the Senate bill, so his entire goal has been achieved. He killed the payroll tax deal, AND he gets to blame it on the "Tea Party Republicans."
Personally, I'd be happier today if the headlines were about him, rather than Kim Jong Il.

Enough of this month to month tax game. Business needs a solid foundation to build plans for the future. Until we make the tax structure stable and get rid of ObamaCare, business can not plan for the future. You can't build a foundation on quicksand, and that is what Washington continues supply.
Throw out the IRS, and use a flat tax.

The income tax is slavery and that cannot be denied… Why are they squabbling over how much they can steal from a person’s labor?? There is a big difference in the money on how it was earned. Taxing money earned through your property is far different from the money earned from your labor.

i wish we would take back the language on this — if you call it "payroll tax" we retirees believe it has nothing to do with us. Actually the FICA is a retirement investment account — when did THAT language get buried. If it is not collected the retirees do not keep their social security.
Also, we were small business owners who submitted FICA every three months. This two-month "deal" sure screws up "my bookkeeping", if we were still in the construction business, that is.
