I like Newt Gingrich! Newt is intelligent, well thought out, a good academic, a good debater, and he has experience. Is he perfect? No, but I don't know anyone who is. Newt Gingrich had only one alleged “ethics violation”, and a subsequent IRS ruling essentially CLEARED him on that one. Newt knows Washington, and won't need "on the job training". Newt is a “real” candidate and is not “manufactured” meaning that he hasn’t had his whole history hidden, and then re manufactured through his books as the current president. The leftest news media has been able to put Gingrich and Romney in the apparent lead. Both support agendas that conservatives dislike. Note how the news media has backed off on attacking them? Do they think that Obama can beat them as easily as he was beating McCain prior to his selecting Palin as his running mate?
Whoever the nominee is, he's going to have a rough time of it as President. He will not be respected by either liberals or conservatives. And if he's another Bush type, as at least Romney appears to be, he very may well lead this country and his party to hell, giving the Democrats an opportunity to launch a new New Deal, which will keep it in hell. I am not an optimist about this country's future. Government has too much authority over it.
My money is squarely on NBC setting a new low which shall cause US to be dumber as a result. In that spirit, hey Newt, I'll send you $1,000 tomorrow if you kick Romneys Butt on stage, NBC really wants a brawl.
Who gives a rip what the LSM thinks, says or does. This is our selection process and they are irrelenent!
The real fun begins when which ever candidate we pick goes up against BHO and his media pals. It's gonna' be good. Can't wait……

Obama without his teleprompter in a debate with Newt is something I'm looking forward to.
I would love to see an honest-to-G-d debate, akin to the Lincoln-Douglas debates, between Gingrich and Obama, or even between Gingrich and Romney.
The problem with the U.S,. political process is that there are no real debates. It is all about scoring points with quips and sound bites, not about the nitty gritty facts. Maybe this is because the public's attention span has been so badly damaged by the MSM, but at least they could not slam such a debate as having no substance.
If Gingrich and Obama have such a debate, the real questions could be addressed. These are the basics and meanings of the two ideologies, liberalism (Oh, excuse me, I mean "progressivism") vs. conservatism. The history has been that the liberals misrepresent what they actually mean, believe and want to impose and the MSM presents a distorted straw man that they represent as conservatism. If these two go head-to-head and are given their own reins, it would be epic and awesome. It whould also be something that the MSM has been keeping from the public for too long, intellectual honesty,

You must also keep in mind that Newt is the man who dragged Clinton, kicking and screaming all the way, into a balanced budget. It would never have happened if Newt hadn't been Speaker at the time– Clinton was just another tax and spend liberal, and Newt short-circuited his spending program in the House of Representatives, the way Boehner SHOULD be short-circuiting Obama (but isn't).
He rubs a LOT of people the wrong way. The very things that rub others the wrong way are things I personally like, such as his verbal skills, his ability to call "BS" on a questioner and refuse to accept the premise of the question.
I'm watching the National Finals.
I usually think the word "gotcha" is overused because sometimes they actually do "have you" and we need to see how the candidates respond when they are caught.
I rarely think there is an unfair question in these debates.
Yet, the question about the last time they had to cut back on a necessity is absolutely unfair. There's no need to apologize for making a lot of money. The only purpose of this question is to make them look incapable of empathizing.
That could get to be too much of a massacre for children to watch.

A Freddie Mac problem is better than Solyndra, Fast and Furious, "green energy", Obamacare, economic disaster, etc etc etc, problems.
Besides, the Freddie Mac "problem" isn't really a problem. He was hired as a consultant. He consulted, they didn't listen, and they crashed and burned. Seems to me it is an asset, not a problem.
Seems to me that the correct reply to that question would have been, "Gee… I dunno. How did you feel about YOUR boss?"

The only problem with Michelle is that she loses sight as to who the enemy is. Her attempts to destroy other GOP candidates only provide support to Obama's cause.
Imagine how much fun it would have been to include the moderators, Diane and George, in the group required to answer when it was that THEY were last unable to meet the mortgage and what they did to get past the problem! The question was a waste of valuable time and a blatant sop to Obama's class warfare crusade. We're not looking for someone who understands the severity of the problems many face today because he's shared them, we need someone who knows how to get the country out of he mess the liberals (including George and Diane) have got us into.

One thing worries the heck out of me, though. The biggest government takeover, which is, not coincidentally the largest tax levy in the history of the world, would be the so-called "carbon tax," no matter how it's structured.
Newt is a warming enthusiast. By that, I mean he believes that humans are responsible for some "unprecedented warming," and that usually means taking drastic OMG measures before we all bake, sizzle and drown.
This is disaster waiting to happen, if he takes that tack. He's got a book coming out, which he co-wrote with one of the most strident one-world government liberals, a virulent warmist named Katherine Hayhoe. This climate thing is BS, with more uncertainty than certainty. The governments are making it up as they go along.
What should our role in the world be?
I hate conspiracy nutters. The Leftist media hasn't put anyone in the lead. Those two candidates have done it by working for the vote (especially Gingrich, who started off so low). McCain was beating Obama when the bailout was negotiated. His bad reaction to the crisis and subsequent weak responses to Obama is what gave Captain Transparency the ultimate win.

I commented just a few days ago, the world markets are waaay too invested in this climate change deal to just throw up their hands and admit it's based on pure conjecture and computer modeling so inaccurate as to be absolute fantasy. How much economic trouble would we really be in if we hadn't blown so much on saving the world from some science fiction fantasy? Merely contemplating that boggles my mind. What is worse is that we continue down the road of control-ville with the EPA having a field day exercising all their new found o-power. BIG money is being spent on R&D for all sorts of equipment to sequester carbon. New farm tractors will have expensive elaborate exhaust systems installed at the factory, that will cut the hell out of their power. Now I have to pay for 50 extra horsepower just to wind up with a tractor to pull my chisel plow. That new tractor with 50 more hp will probably cost an extra $50 K. Methinks used tractors will become very valuable… but I digress. If these new rules are such a burden on my tiny sector of biz, imagine what the cost to the entire US engine of growth will be?
Bottom line: I don't think they can back out of this climate change deal easily because of the huge effect it would have on the US stock market. I guess we're waiting for all the DC Elites to get themselves "positioned" so as not to suffer too much of a hit to their stock portfolios. I'm guessing that task is damn near impossible, the way climate change has insidiously permeated everything.

Just once I wish some candidate would have the guts to say, I don't "feel", I THINK!!! And I think many folks who have lost their homes should have never bought homes in the first place. There is an argument to be made for the advantages of being a "renter", rather than an owner. The cowards will never do it though.
I didn't hear any of them say we need to end public unions yet. I am still waiting for that question to be asked. I am not holding my breath, because I am certain none of them would agree. They don't want to piss of that voting block. We need to make this an issue. Write in this question for the next FOX news debate. Maybe if enough people bring it up, it may get asked. If we are ever going to clean up Washington we must start with getting rid of the public employee unions.
So who is going to destroy us? There have always been very bad nation states in the world, and there always will be, it is not just contained in "the world we live in today". Do you know who has done more damage to this country than every external enemy we have ever faced, combined? The federal government. Iran didn't take away my Fourth Amendment rights at the airport, the feds did. North Korea hasn't been chipping away at my right to own a firearm, the federal government has been seeing to that.
How are we protecting ourselves by having our military all over the world, yet our border is wide open, and we are being invaded by Mexico? How are we protecting ourselves by spending more and more money helping our "friends" and conducting military campaigns around the world, while our debt grows by the second and our economy continues to collapse?
The fact is, if our economy goes down completely, all this "role in the world" talk won't matter one bit because most of us will be trying to figure out how we're going to eat. Domestic issues are what matter. Foreign policy is secondary.
