Job Growth Lower Than Expected; Unemployment Rate Falls as 315k Give Up Search for Work
by PubliusFrom the Associated Press:
The U.S. unemployment rate fell last month to its lowest level in more than two and a half years, as employers stepped up hiring in response to the slowly improving economy.
The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate dropped sharply to 8.6 percent last month, down from 9 percent in October. The rate hasn’t been that low since March 2009, during the depths of the recession.
Still, 13.3 million Americans remain unemployed. And a key reason the unemployment rate fell so much was because roughly 315,000 people had given up looking for work and were no longer counted as unemployed.
Employers added 120,000 jobs last month. And the previous two months were revised up to show that 72,000 more jobs added—the fourth straight month the government revised prior months higher.
Private employers added a net gain of 140,000 jobs last month. Governments, meanwhile, shed another 20,000 jobs, mostly at the local and state level. Governments at all levels have shed almost a half-million jobs in the past year.
More than half the jobs added were by retailers, restaurants and bars, a sign that holiday hiring has kicked in. Retailers added 50,000 jobs, the sector’s biggest gain since April. Restaurants and bars hired 33,000 new workers. The health care industry added 17,000.
The presidential election is less than a year away, which means President Barack Obama will almost certainly face voters with the highest unemployment rate of any president since World War II.
And Europe’s financial crisis threatens to slow U.S. growth next year. A recession in Europe could reduce U.S. exports, hurt global financial markets and dampen business confidence.
Read more here. Its a bit odd that if someone out of work gives up looking for a job they are no longer considered ‘unemployed.’ There are some legitimate reasons for this, but it is still a bit of a quirk which suggests some caution in evaluating the unemployment rate.

These unemployed didn't find jobs they just ran out of benefits, looks good on paper,Grandpa and Grandma have to buy a bigger house just so they can have more room for the returning kids and grand kids,I guess one good thing Obama is doing is bringing families together again.
who actually believes these numbers put out by obama's minions? we all know the magic number to be re-elected is 8%, and obama will do whatever it takes to drop the rate using any math that will make it possible.
Figures do not lie but LIARS TRY TO FIGURE. Team Obama has changed all sorts of ways to report the numbers and I know too many out of work and with bleak prospects. If the unemployment rate is getting so much better then tell me why the Food-stamp rate is skyrocketing and housing is not stabilizing.
Food Stamps instead of wanting to work:
Works great if ya don't mind a steak without dignity.
People go underground in times like these, the underground economy is growing by leaps and bounds, eBay flourishes, you paint your next door neighbors house for cash,we will survive.
It doesn't matter to Obama, his little demon spawns will be juuuuust fine!
From the Washington Examiner:
"Our kids are going to be fine," Obama told supporters at a campaign event last night. "And I always tell Malia and Sasha, look, you guys, I don't worry about you . . . they’re on a path that is going to be successful, even if the country as a whole is not successful. But that’s not our vision of America. I don't want an America where my kids are living behind walls and gates, and can’t feel a part of a country that is giving everybody a shot."

Just like Rush said…unemployment MUST come down in order for "The One" to be reelected.
Of course we are still 11 months away but the jig is jigging and we the American voters are being spoon feed more crap and lies from the " surprised" media.
8.6 too will be readjusted next month with no media mention as usual.
DOn't believe it folks unemployment is really 14 to 18%
When will the Main stream media start referring to employment rate as 80% employed or hay people the employment rate is at 91% isn't that great!…Thanks to Obama!…Yes many are THAT stupid
Precisely what Rush said was going to happen, or that the media was going to make happen–get an 8 in the front of the unemployment number regardless of the fact that the number is a fiction. Count all the jobs destroyed in the US economy in the past three years and the official number is well past 10%.
If they can fake the number down below 8.5%, it will suddenly be "at almost 7%!!" and watch Obama sail to victory. Unless Newt gets Obama on a debate stage for 2 or 3 hours…….
This is typical liberal statistical manipulation. I fully expect to see that we are at "full employment" by November of next year since it will play well for BOB's campaign.. It's all BS!!!!
Newt said he'll follow Obama around the country, every time Obama opens his mouth Newt will be there to counter his lies, that sounds like the plan.
Maybe I'm overly suspicious, but I find it odd that the employment figures for previous months were adjusted upward just as election season is getting into full swing.
What good is a number if certain things "aren't counted"?
When I went to school, if I left some part, or parts, of the equation out, I got the wrong answer and then the failing grade that goes along with it.
Let's face the facts, 1 in 4 people doesn't have a job and 2 of the other three who do are barely making ends meet because government is taking from them to pamper the one without a job and make it comfortable not to have one.
We aren't "lazy", what we are is permission slipped to paralyzation. People do not start and operate businesses because government has taken over business and takes far too large a piece of the pie – making business unsustainable (unless of course it is part of a huge corporation that is complete with highly paid teams of lawyers and lobbyists (and a few choice politicians in their pockets).
The answer rests in economic freedom and that is realized when folks understand the perversion of "Privileges and/or Immunities within the judiciary. We must restore our Constitution, making our constitution match that Constitution. And that has to be done by one simple function – a Legislature that finally reins in the far-overreaching court, most especially the Supreme Court. IOW, the Legislature must fill its checking role and that is done best by withholding SPENDING until such time as what it allocates money to operates Constitutionally.
The rate only improved as a "percentage" because 315,000 people LEFT the workforce. A feeble 120k jobs were created, with a majority being in the retail and service sector, and only 2,000 in manufacturing.
This is pitiful, but that won't stop the liar-in-chief and his msm minions from duping the public with a false celebration.
The unemployment rate dropped because 315,000 people gave up looking for work (that's roughly the population of Pittsburgh or St. Louis). Now if Obama can get another 1 or 2 million people to stop looking for work he can get the unemployment rate down to a reasonable number…
This administration can spout out all the numbers it want, as long as I KNOW people who cannot find a job, and at the same time are denied food stamps or assistance, I WILL be the one with the correct numbers!!! Obams's idiots can post all the WRONG numbers it wants…Americans will still know the truth!!!!
Of course the figures are cooked, they finagle the unemployment figures every month…just waiting for the puke in the oval office to get in front of the cameras to spike the football again…
I often thought that it would have been funny if Sarah had followed Obama, too, just for the hell of it, not necessarily to further her political career. For example, when Obama would show up in a city and 38 people would be there to greet him (none of them fainting), Sarah could swing through a couple hours later to a huge crowd of people, lol.
I am so hoping that Newt gets the nomination because he is going to absolutely destroy the empty suit empty head scumbag Obama.
I personally know two people who just lost their EXTENDED unemployment checks and who were never looking for work in the first place. They have enjoyed many months of 'free' money, at taxpayer expense. Every time the govt does some big give-away program there are always plenty of people who figure out how to game the system. No wonder the "dropped out of the job market" figure is so high. I expect that number to remain high, as more people run out of their 99 week free ride.
This just confirms what most of us already know – we ARE being lied to.
"…as John Lohman's chart below shows that in 2011 initial and continuing claims have been revised higher the week following 91% and 100% of the time, respectively. A purely statistical explanation for this phenomenon is 'impossible.'"
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/initial-jobless-cla...
If we just give the richest 1% MORE tax breaks then everything will be okay again, right? HAHA
This administration, with the help of a compliant media, manipulates everything to their benefit……
This is no different…..the sheep in this country will buy up the propaganda while the rest of us see it for the deception tactic it is…..
After all, the countdown to the next election is in full swing…..and they need to get as many votes established for the Obamunist. Theft is all the tricks this man has left…..
Newt is the smartest guy on the block,he has the confidence that this country needs right now,Obama has tried to destroy our confidence,Obama beat us down now it's game on.
We've gutted the middle class over the last few decades.
I agree Obama isn't doing a good job rebounding us but this problem has festered for years and will not be solved over night. Manufacturing jobs having been leaving our shores long before Obama,
And the GOP will do whatever it can to make sure unemployment does NOT go down under Obama.
The Obama Malaise continues, unabated.
Way too many people will take the steak over dignity, Ralph.
Just the way liberals like it.
only the dems profit from high unemployment. if the rate was high under a republican administration, his job would be washed out to sea as well. governments cannot create jobs, but they can destroy them.
Hate to break it to you, but unemployment was high before Obama got into office. He had nothing to do with wall st wrecking our economy. Nor did he have anything to do with millions of middle class jobs that have shipped over seas since nafta.
More people need to expose this fake recovery. Politicians are taking credit for this economic "turn-around" when it's nothing more than the 99-weekers running out of unemployment benefits.
This is looking like the scam about the real number of illegal aliens.
Fuzzy math strikes again.
how do you give something back to someone from whom you have stolen the money in the first place?
"here sir, I just smashed your windshield with my hammer; let me fix that for you"
What part of Rio Linda are you from?
I myself find left wing math somewhat entertaining, in a comical sense.
Conveniently timed and packaged for all of the rubes to overlook the underlying facts…
There are now only 64% of Americans actually working and participating in the economy, only 53% of those are paying taxes at all and the equivalent of the city of Pittsburgh just stopped looking for work at all.
The birth of the "progressive" plantation state…
So after 5 years of this crappy economy 75% of the unemployed no longer counted in the unemployment numbers they are reporting of 9%+. That means the real number is more like 25%+, and that number doesn't count the under employed. Yet the media and whitehouse are telling us things are getting better…LOL! This is just more proof of the FRAUD in the media and the whitehouse.
In a few months all 13.3 million will have given up looking for work and Obama and the press will claim a 0% unemployment rate.
http://www.politiseeds.com
"And a key reason the unemployment rate fell so much was because roughly 315,000 people had given up looking for work and were no longer counted as unemployed."
This sentence should wipe the smile off of Obama's face when he tries to take credit for the 8.6
CNBC didn't really cheer this new unemployment number either, they know its false and so they scrambled to figure out why, and they are still trying to figure it out, almost two hours later. Hope and Change has long been replaced by Loss of Trust, and for good reason.
Why the unemployment rate was tied to the number of those collecting unemployment benefits in the first place is beyond me!
Here's a thought, why not just cut all unemployment benefits off? By their logic there would be no unemployment then. Right?
It's hard not to think the system isn't rigged when they tell us, for years, that the magic number to bring unemployment down or just to keep up with new people entering the market is 150 to 180K new jobs a month. Now it suddenly drops 4 points and only 120K jobs are added last month?
C'mon! How stupid do they think we are?
Taxing the rich more won't help, it just gives gov't more money to waste.
Hey, can you hear me over rush on your radio?
So now we regard taxes as "stolen" money? Thats a new one
it will reduce the deficit. It was the GOP that promised the bush tax cuts would expire. I guess they lied again surprise surprise
GOP profits from high unemployment by taking power again. They'll convince enough people that they'll fix the problem and they'll just go back to serving corporate america per usual.
No government does not create jobs. the private sector does, as well the private sector ships jobs over seas and wrecks the economy (wall st)
They lowered the number of people 'participating' in the job market.
If the labor market were the same size as it was when Obama took office the number would
be: 11%. (True statistic. I am not making that up.)

Obama = welcome back Carter
"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
~Benjamin Disraeli
The Dems will spend any new tax revenues before the money even gets to Washington (think jobs bill, more funding for "education", etc., etc.). The chances of the deficit being reduced are about zero. By the way, the Bush tax cuts increased gov't revenue, and the Democrats extended them a year ago.
UM is currently >20%. It goes up every month.
Simple fact.
When was the last time we ever saw a stat of how many people are off of the unemployment rolls, broke, destitute, lost their homes, living in Obamavilles, begging. Instead, we get a cheap, reshuffled, worn out, stacked card deck!
If the trend we have seen over the past three months continues, Republicans are in real trouble in November. They've been banking on a double dip recession to defeat Obama and implement their right wing social agenda. But if things are looking up Obama will clobber Newt or Willard or anyone else who emerges from this clown show on top.
Remember, I'm counting on the teaparty to put the president over the top. Four more years…

Overall this is good news for the president and bad news for you. You will need a double dip recession to win in November and that is not looking good right now.
AAAUUGH. I guess the people who make money on this type of news, disagree: http://money.msn.com/market-news/post.aspx?post=c...
the bush tax cuts were the single greatest driver of our deficit over the last decade.
Tax revenue came for 2 reasons, we were coming out of down turned economy in 01(tax rev always rises after that)
and two, we were in a bubble economy with free money flooding the market with the feds reckless near zero interest rates.
Trillions of dollars of revenue to pay for Bush's wars, his medicare D handouts were wiped out by the tax cust, thus the deficit rose even though revenue "increased"
get it?
FOUR MORE YEARS !!!
FOUR MORE YEARS !!!
Dumb asses
yeah, we get it- you're a "zero sum game" kinda guy. what you don't get is that the NEXT time tax increases cut the deficit will be the FIRST time it ever happens.
How on earth do you "give up on finding work"? Do you just starve to death? Live under a bush? Go into suspended animation? Start channeling Bonnie & Clyde?
I'm an aircraft worker; my industry is notorious for being feast-or-famine. When I couldn't find aircraft work I drove a cab or cashiered at 7-11 or did whatever I could to keep myself fed and housed. That's what working people do.
I suspect that these folks who have "given up" are educated in a particular profession and refuse to consider working at anything else: "I can't find a job designing houses for real estate developers so I'm giving up".
In a major recession, cherry-picking is a pi$$ poor way to earn a living.
If the administration had the ability and will to manipulate the numbers they would paint a much rosier picture than the one presented this morning. Like ever president before him, Obama is forced to let the chips fall where they may and try and put the best spin possible on it.
He didn't invent the system.
Let’s see…
The Labor Participation rate DROPPED.
More Americans LEFT the work force than gained a job.
And the Long-Term Unemployment Rate went up as a percentage of all jobless.
Obama’s BLS (Bureau of Labor & Statistics) is BuLS*!t
The truth is the unemployed would be in far greater dire straights if Republicans had been allowed to let benefits lapse. All the president needs to get reelected is an upward trajectory in the economic outlook and he will be rewarded for staying the course and siding with the workers.
It's simple math.
More revenue to pay for our over spending. less deficit.
less money to pay for our over spending. more deficit.
We've cut taxes for over a decade and look where we are: stagnant wages, high unemployment, huge deficits, skyrocketing debt.
Get it yet?
Ok, how about this. An olive branch of sorts.
How about a flat across the board 10% income tax, 10% capital gains tax and 10% corporate tax (I'll go with the corporate tax in lieu of sales tax because both get passed the the consumer but we already have corporate tax and I cannot even suggest offering a new federal tax). All these taxes are equal across the board to everyone. NO EXCEPTIONS, NO LOOP HOLES, NO SHELTERS OF ANY KIND.
10% to everyone equally. You are fine with that right?
It is also the government that forces jobs to go overseas, as our history has proven since our government is not business friendly.
If you haven't noticed, no one in the DNC has come up with a solution to fix the economy, solve any problems or lower unemployment. Actually, the DNCs last plan actually just added to all that and along with more corruption to like Solyndra and such. You have no idea which masters the DNC is serving, but it aint the American public.
Real unemployment is already about 16.5% right now nation wide. You have no idea how great unemployment really is and you believe the talking points way too easily.
If only you knew the truth, but Obama doesn't give a damn about the workers. Not to mention, if he stays the course, we might as well plan for another depression as we hit massive inflation, nation debt near $20+ trillion, and unemployment would be roughly 20+%.
If everyone who's unemployed would just give up looking for work, we'd have full employment! Rejoice!
It is good news for Obama politically, but it is bad news for the American economy. Since Obama is going to claim what he has done has worked, when in fact it never did. All while real Americans are still losing jobs and getting off unemployment.
You really don't see too deep into these matters, now do you.
Over-spending creates deficits. Higher taxes will lead to more spending, especially with the biggest spendaholics in history sitting in the White House and Congress. We need to focus on economic growth, not the tax rates.
This country has to generate 263,700 jobs each month between now and 2016 just to get back to the pre-crash levels of employment we had in December 2007.
Ask yourself if Obama is doing everything possible to help with job creation, or if he's more interested in playing class warfare in an attempt to squeak his way into reelection.
""""It is also the government that forces jobs to go overseas"""
Yes those basic labor laws are killer. no 25 cents a day slave labor, we actually care about the environment we live in, we can drink the water.
How can a business succeed!?!?!
"""You have no idea which masters the DNC is serving, but it aint the American public."""
Are you sure thats just the DNC? the GOP is free of any special interest?
What you just described is a problem with all of government, not just one party
Here's a question for anybody who wants to claim this is good news.
New Jobs = 120,000
People who left labor force = 300,000 +
Why is it good news when people who give up looking for jobs out number people getting jobs by a 3 to 1 margin?
Walter Hanson

You still don't get it, and you utterly fail to understand debt.
Tax cuts never add to debt, since it does not accumulate to spending. The government has been spending far more than it ever brought in, and even if you add in more taxes, that would only create more spending.
In order to reduce debt, we need to cut taxes (give people back their money), and cut spending, as the government is forced to spend within its means. When you exceed that, you end up with debt and unable to pay for it as you just continue to spend.
Why must you use worthless talking points to explain debt that you don't understand how it works.
then just inspect all of the ocean containers, and see where the jobs are being smuggled to. every action has an equal and opposite reaction, there is a law of physics that states that. for every business tax or fee, every business reacts accordingly. why make anything here, when you can do it for lower cost somewhere else? it is not the pay i am talking about, but government red tape. do you think china has unemployment taxes, osha, epa, eeoc, nlrb, tree huggers?
If you look inside the numbers there is much to be optimistic about. Even as we watch public sector jobs go away as states and municipalities balance their budgets, the losses are more than offset by strong hiring trends in the private sector. And like any good right winger will tell you, it is the private sector that we rely on for the vast majority of jobs.
You have your facts mixed up.
In terms of NEW spending created Bush had created more then Obama has. The debt has gone up because we went into a recession and still have to pay the bills with less revenue.
"""Over-spending creates deficits"""
Of course. So when you create NEW spending and CUT the revenue like Bush did, you get higher deficits.
So you are one of the far-left losers that believes that money earned by workers belongs to the government? Explain to me genius how taxing the 1% will lead to economic growth. God are you people stupid.
At this rate, soon we will have an unemployment rate of 0% with 100% of America out of work.
Obammy needs 4 more years to accomplish this fundamental transformation of America. He is will on his way.
Obama's more interested in playing golf & having a farewell party for his "bodyguard"/Lover Reggie Love. The only jobs Obama is interested in is his on-the-down-low blow jobs
Taxing the rich will not make a dent in the deficit. http://super-economy.blogspot.com/2011/04/doing-m...
And it was Obama that extended the Bush tax cuts. His administration was even bragging that they should be called the Obama tax cuts. Why is it that you far-left losers are so stupid?
If you are right and we hit another recession Obama has no chance at reelection. That's why Republicans have been reluctant to pass any legislation that would stimulate the economy. The last thing they want if for things to start trending upwards before November. But recessions run in cycles. Eventually durable goods begin to wear out and consumers are forced back into the market to replace them. Then consumer confidence begins to grow on the back of the economic news and things snowball. These usually run in 18 month cycles and we are well past that point now. It is unlikely Republicans will be able to block the job growth in the next 10 months or prevent the president from gaining four more years.
I appreciate the Olive branch. I'd like to keep things civil too.
I'm all for simplifying the tax code.
You have to understand that the wealthiest and corporations make more then ever have in history and pay the least amount of taxes in history already.
So lowering it to 10% seems excessive to me.
You do not like a progressive income tax?
I'd think the rich could afford a little extra (maybe 15-20). Think of it as a war tax. We've been in war for a decade, a war that the poor fight and the rich benefit from very well
You simply have no way of truthfully supporting that claim. Even Obama's first 3 years versus all 8 years of Bush.
While you are assembling some deceptive and inaccurate evidence of your claim that Bush spent more than Obama, how about digging up a few facts on Pelosi's tenure as speaker. That one is painfully entertaining as well.
So the answer is : cut the spending. Obama has increased spending by about 700-800 billion a year over Bush's pre-TARP budgets. That's deficit driver no. 1. Start by cutting that. Then grow the economy, which means reversing many Obama/Democrat policies. That will increase revenue. And stop blaming Bush. He did far less damage than Obama.
Why is the liberal argument always all or nothing. The problem isnt the labor laws, but it is the unions which are unneeded, the taxes and over regulation. Those are the primary factors are why businesses go overseas. Enough of your empty talking point of drinking water, since that is all you got. You really have no idea about anything business wise do you.
I know full well that both parties are full of special interests and lobbyists. We need to get government out of business to cut those corrupt connections, and yes I mean for both parties to. As for why I brought of the DNC is simple, you simply ignored them and I brought them to light for you to see. I know both parties are at fault.
You want us to be more like China?
They're destroying their environment, do like clean water?
They have child labor, and some of the harshest working environments in the world.
Thats what you want for america?
No standards at all?
I knew I was right when I said the right wants to turn us into a third world country
I thought you said you were for free market capitalism?
America is the best place in the world and you are lucky enough to be here where you can have your views in a country that is still a democratic republic.
However, please be honest. With us and with yourself. If you subscribe to the belief that wealth should be allocated by the government "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" then please just understand and accept the fact that you are a Marxist.
Yes, I know recessions run in cycles, yet Obama has flat lined the recession and kept the economy in a downturn due to his stimulus and other spending bills. Obama is just repeating the New Deal during the Great Depression that held the country in a depression for an additional 10 years.
Actually, the republicans have not been reluctant to pass any legislation that would stimulate the economy as they came up with several plans that would reduce our debt, cut spending, and improve our business environment. Yet, the democrats rejected those plans and lack any of their own that would improve the economy.
Besides, the republicans have no interest in blocking job growth, where you get that from is pure BS. Yet the amount of growth we do have now is pitiful at any measure, since we need about 3-4 times as much for real growth and under Obama that is not going to happen.
Government is allowed to tax. It isn't stealing. God you've been so thoroughly brainwashed.
We'd tax the rich by letting the Bush tax cuts expire LIKE THE GOP AGREED TO… before they lied.
This would help with our deficit problems.
Economic growth is a separate argument. We didn't go into this recession because of an "excessive" tax policy.
you have never been right your whole life. there are tradeoffs in everything we do. do i trade five bucks for a burger? is the burger worth my five dollars, or could i do something better with my money. do we allow coal fired power plants, so people can afford to have heat in the winter, and lights at night, or do we price electricity so high, people start cutting down trees for heat, and burn down their homes using candle light? do we allow cast iron to be forged here, or do we move it all off shore, so when a war starts, we have no way of producing tanks and guns? leftists never think things to the end, only what sounds good today. yes burning no coal might save a few lives, but many more will be lost without it.
I don't think you're aware of how much money the bush tax cuts actually took away from the treasury.
In theory you're right. In practice the GOP has never cut spending. Only added trillions more. so ADDING spending
and REDUCING the revenue
equals what?
DEFICITS.
Government still over spends but the rate at which the deficit rose came from trillions in tax cuts.
We've been cutting taxes for a decade and what do we have to show for it? huge debt, deficits, stagnant wages, industries shipped over seas.
YES, that worked out brilliantly.
LET DO IT AGAIN!!!
""""Then grow the economy, which means reversing many Obama/Democrat policies. """"
Hate to break it to you. the economy was killed a long time before Obama came into office.
""" And stop blaming Bush. He did far less damage than Obama."""
Obama at least tried to pay for his healthcare plan
Bush started 2 wars and trillion dollar pharma handout in med D and NEVER ONCE said he'd pay for it.
What spending do you want to cut?
No amount of tax increases is ever going to help our deficit problem, as none of that money would pay down the debt. In fact, it would only further spending, thus creating more debt.
The problem during the great depression was not that Roosevelt pushed too much economic stimulus, it was just never enough. That was proven in 1938 when he lost his nerve and agreed to some cuts that he didn't believe in but didn't feel he had the political capital to make it happen. As a result the economy took a big dip and made the depression worse. It wasn't until the biggest stimulus package in the history of the world was enacted (WWII) that the economy was able to recover. And the recovery was breathtaking. Forty percent real unemployment to what was functionally zero unemployment in two years.Obama's stimulus was far to small to have a quick affect on the economy. But it did keep us from plunging into a depression and for that I believe he will be rewarded by the voters with four more years.
You really are an idiot when it comes to debt, aren't you.
Actually, your own statement just proved you wrong. Because of the government over spending than what it brought in is what does cause debt. Yet, no matter how much the taxes are cut, the government continues to spend. Thus, debt is purely created by overspending and not by tax cuts.
With as badly and desperately you want to blame the GOP, the DNC has plenty of blame on their shoulders as they have outspent the GOP in three short years, and jumped our debt in that time by $5 trillion. It is clear to anyone with a brain that the debt problem is caused by spending, and not tax cuts.
Point is this kiddo. Tax cuts never add debt, only spending does. It is the spending that needs to be cut, but taxes to be added, as the added taxes would only further increase spending. In return you get even more debt as taxes increase.
You should go back under that rock you crawled from, since you still know absolutely nothing about debt at all.
exactly- with the Left it's always the ridiculous chicken-little kneejerk reaction to ANY attempt to rein in govt. EPA budget cuts? "AAAAAGH- we're all gonna die from industrial pollution!" Restrain business regulation? "We'll all be slaves to our omnipotent corporate masters!!!"
note to libs: Grow the ____ up.
since tax cuts helped the deficit grow they can help slow the growth as well. in addition to cutting spending
Starting with 2 billion a week for afghan
You're right – the economy has been getting killed for years. We're better at shutting down factories than opening new ones. Environmentalists, unions, among other things. Obama has put that process in overdrive.
Obama's spending has largely grown the gov't. That's what I'd cut. The private sector is getting crushed while gov't grows fatter than Jabba the Hut.
Bush's wars are largely over. That spending is ending. It doesn't affect the deficit anymore. And,yes, his tax cuts increased gov't revenue, which is probably why the Dems continued them.
"""DNC has plenty of blame on their shoulders as they have outspent the GOP in three short years""""
Not true. Obama hasn't introduced NEW spending that totals more then bush's NEW spending.
But of course both parties are to blame for the debt.
we just didn't have as high of deficits in 200o until bush increased spending and cut revenue. It snowballed from there.
"""Tax cuts never add debt, only spending does""""
It's so simple that its sad you cannot see the clear logic.
If you cut revenue and DO NOT cut spending deficits will rise (as history fro just a few years back shows)
If you want t cut revenue and not raise the deficit you have to cut that amount of spending out of the budget which the GOP did not do.
It's true.
Name me NEW obama spending that out totals Bush spending?
I'm all ears.
"""Even Obama's first 3 years versus all 8 years of Bush. """
I guess you forgot about the worst recession in modern history, TARP, putting war spending on the books like bush did not. take away all that and your narrative is broken
"""Why is it that you far-left losers are so stupid?"""
what are you child? grow up.
If you add a trillion dollars more to the treasury the deficit will stay the same? I love that funny con math.
Obama extended the tax cuts as a compromise. the GOP only takes, doesn't give any. the party of little children.
no i subscribe to the belief that government can and should adequately and fairly tax in order to provide things like roads, bridges, regulatory bodies, war ect as well as a safety net for those who need some temporary help.
It doesn't do anybody any good, rich or poor, to have people dying in the streets. I'd pay more in taxes to not have that on my way to work.
