BREAKING: Shooting at #OccupyVermont

Just hours after a concert by “gypsy punk” band Gogol Bordello at Occupy Vermont in Burlington, tragedy appears to have struck the encampment.
From the Burlington Free Press:
Police say a 35-year-old man in in grave condition after an apparent shooting in City Hall Park, the scene of the Occupy Burlington encampment…
A motionless man was removed from a green tent where blood was evident. About a half dozen police cars were at the scene at about 2:20 p.m.

Makes me think of Altamont and the Rolling Stones. It marked the end of the "Peace and Love" era of the 60's. Maybe this will mark the end of the OWS movement to end free market capitalism and responsible government.

I read in the story, police are attempting to obtain a warrant to search tent. Since when is a warrant needed to search an illegal tent on public property.

No, just trying to ascertain what the purpose of the video is since it doesnt have anything to do with the shooting and came before. And am I fan of this band? I wouldnt go that far but I dont dislike it. But that's not the point is it? Why is it there in the context of this article?

Oh I absolutely understand why the clip is there even though it has nothing to do with the shooting. it's to piss off normal people by showcasing a hippy playing guitar at the protest. That image has all kinds of bad associations for you of drugs, the 60's hippies, etc and is there for no other purpose but to bother you. It's textbook manipulation.

The link says the shooting was self-inflicted, possibly a suicide. If true, then the person mostl ikely suffered from severe depression or some other mental illness. I'm not sure it's a situation that should be politicized, just a tragedy.

This seems to be a trend with you trolls. Whenever there's a death, a sexual assault, a robbery, or any other kind of violence at an Occupy location (something which seems to be more and more frequent) you and your fellows are here showing outrage… at us.
If self-inflicted it could be an accident, too. If that’s the case, however, I don’t really see how the story could be politicized either, though.

There is a greater and ongoing narrative that these Occupy events are visited with violence and vandalism. But such stories aren't limited to the Bigs, or to Fox, or to the right. I do have to admit, however, that a shooting does up-the-ante a little bit. This would be a first, would it not?
Which brings us to where you're wrong — this is a breaking story. Unless you attach this to the narrative, you don't have any politicization YET. And lets face it, a shooting from one of these things is news worthy.

I think both abortion and guns should be regulated. For instance, I think you should be required to be a licensed medical doctor to perform an abortion, and required to do the procedure in a sterile environment, etc. You can try to make the distinction of it being a “court-created” right, but that begs the question of what purpose you think the 9th amendment serves, as well as what the desired function of the Supreme Court is, if you believe it should not possess the ability to rule over whether or not such matters are constitutionally protected.

We get it. You like guns. That’s fine, I think you should be able to own as many guns as you want. However, I don’t see how it is contradictory to also say that you should need a background check in order to get one. Or what exactly the problem is with requiring registration at purchase.
