#OccupyWallSt Is No Friend to Small Business
by PubliusFrom Entrepreneur:
The Occupy Wall Street movement has very different objectives from most small-business owners. Doug Schoen, a political pollster and Fox News analyst, recently surveyed 200 protesters and concluded that the majority of the movement’s members want higher taxes to redistribute wealth and heavier regulation on the private sector. But most small-business owners have been calling for less regulation and lower taxes to get the economy going again.
Moreover, most small-business owners believe in the capitalist system, while Occupy Wall Street expresses some anti-capitalist views. Take a look at some statements made in the movement’s first official release. “Corporations … have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions…. have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ health care and pay…. [and] have spent millions of dollars … to get … out of contracts in regards to health insurance.”
What about views of health care? According to CNBC, most of the movement is calling for universal health care. And to the extent that Occupy Wall Street opposes the health-care reform legislation passed in 2010, it’s because the new law wasn’t extreme enough. David Maris, a health-care equity research industry analyst, wrote on Forbes.com that he spoke to 50 of the protesters and found that 49 of them believe that health care should be free. By contrast, a January 2011 Discover Card survey shows that the majority of small-business owners want to repeal the new health-care law, and only a little over a third want to keep it.
If the protesters get their way and Wall Street is more heavily regulated, small-business owners will bear the cost. Like it or not, small businesses need the banking system because that’s where they get the credit they need. As regulators have tightened their control over the banks in recent years, the lenders have become very conservative, cutting back dramatically on small-business lending. If Occupy Wall Street succeeds and the government exerts even more control over the banks, the end result will be even less small-business credit.

I wouldn't hire anyone who was involved with any of these protests.
There's probably a provision buried in the "Job's Bill" that would allow a job applicant to sue you for discrimination against "occupiers."
"small-business owners will bear the cost"
I dare say that most small-businnesses will not be able to sustain and will simply go out of business. That's what the Unions want and that's what the Socialist want.
Obama will not take his foot off the neck of banks and private businesses until they stop breathing. He has absolutely no intention of giving up the ground that he has made on the path to socialism…. even though he will try to hide that destination from time to time.
They're only a friend to laziness and foolishness.
Hey idiot with the Che sign.
We killed his ass too.
did anyone expect this rabble to be 'friendly' to anything?
Maybe a handout, although they have been critical of the free food (not 'healthy' enough) and other free accomodations. But for the most part this is a ragtag lot of anarchists, proto-hippies and student socialists all organized by the International Communist Movement and coordinated by union leaders of SEIU and AFL-CIO.
So, being kind to small business is the last thing on their minds- they view them as bourgiosie oppressors- and soon
that will evidence itself in attacks against their establishment. Obama must be made to rue the day he embraced this
movement. Constant vigilance and recording of their antics must be made public, 24/7…
#OccupyWallSt Is No Friend To America.
He tries to hide it, Duuuuh?
We have processes to effect change. These confused souls choose to bypass the process with their new "Woodstocks". When the Tea Party tries to effect change within the established rules we get the swat team called and called terrorists. DISGUSTING!! It is time to get real change, Socialism or Freedom, it's decision time.
It is all fun and games until the food runs out.
It's an abomination for an American to be carrying this sign.
I could support another stimulus if it were to pay to ship these people to the socialist country of their choice.
It might as well be saying "I hate the fact that you have freedom and long for some tyrannical monster to take it from you"
Food for thought for Occupier wannabe violent revolutionaries:
The one American institution you have failed to infiltrate will not let you take the country over by force. The reason you have failed to infiltrate this greatest of American institutions is that you are its antithesis. You are incapable of assimilating into it. You revile it. You cannot become it. It is pure.
You are too weak to defeat the U.S. Armed Forces in a violent, physical conflict. They are us, not you. They are on our side. We share the code of self-reliance.
Think about it.
I love it when lefties fail to see the inconsistency, or hypocrisy if you will, of their stance on different subjects.
I thought they were for opportunities in foreign lands because we have so much and they so little yet, they complain about outsourcing. Isn't this the world view of spreading the wealth around? Aren't we supposed to have less so the downtrodden masses of the world can have a bit more? Isn't this what outsourcing will accomplish?
And isn't it odd that the unions, those fine representatives of all the workers, are the first and most successful of those asking for wavers from ObamaKare?
Yep, I'd say their brains occupy an entirely different part of their anatomy than the rest of us!
The right and many in the media will continue to make jokes and play dumb, but while they are laughing it up, a movement is growing. They may intentionally not understand the message of Occupy Wall Street, but millions of Americans do, and these people want their democracy back.
http://www.politicususa.com/en/alan-grayson-occup...
I was at Occupy Montreal yesterday. It was organized, non-violent, and they appeared to have well-thought out opinions and suggestions.
Don't worry. All the anti-Semites, racists, communists, burn-outs, and anarchists ARE NOT representative of the "movement."
So says the Glorious Workers' Committee of Baked Mask-wearing Jew-baiting Pinkos.
The reason that they're so 'in your face' is that they want blow-back….
and they'll continue to escalate until they get some…
Of course they're no friend to small business. Just ask some of the people who own businesses near Zuccotti Park. They've been complaining for weeks about people "taking showers" in restaurant bathrooms and leaving an incredible mess behind. I saw one lady on the news saying that she can't even get deliveries for her business anymore because trucks can't get through. She figured she'd have to close her 30-year-old restaurant within a few weeks.
And despite the efforts of people like Canuck_Grit to suggest otherwise, there's exactly one item where most Americans agree with the OWS folks: There shouldn't be collusion between the government and business. But that's it! All the secondary goals that they keep bringing up involve a massive increase in government control over our lives. Americans do not want that.
Tens of millions of Americans are far more worried about keeping a roof over their heads and dinner on their tables to spend any time contemplating this twaddle, socialist. The only reason the "protests" look so big is all the media attention they're getting, including from this site. It's highly doubtful that the actual number of unemployable losers loitering like this nationwide is very far at all into the six digit-range. In other words, it's a microscopically small minority of misfits in a nation of 312 million people. You are therefore most cordially invited to pound that International Workers of the World agitprop along with several very large bags of sand where the sun don't shine.
I have to work for my life. Why can't you? You're just selfish little babies.
The American Nazi party supports Occupy, also. There's credibility for you.
And I'm sure that those millions of struggling people will much appreciate the deleterious effect that these filth-encrusted disease-fests are having on business and tourism in their towns, too.
The people who profit by cleaning up the messes of others will probably do well, though.
You can't spell douche with out Che.
You summed it up well.
What is it that "big money" wants? Why are they giving money and support to Pres Obama? What do they gain? Does killing "small money" give them total power of their markets? What remains when there is nothing left to conquer?
Were you the foot sniffer?
That's hilarious, Helen! A link to what Alan Grayson has to say!
C'mon hoser! Now you're giving dorks a bad name!
I don't think they'll be too pleased with that.
Perhaps you could go down to Occupy a Washroom in Montreal and ask them. I'm sure there are enough dorks there to give you a valid answer.
By the way, were the Occupy a Washroom in Montreal people against banks and Bay Street or were they more intent on the separation question? Hey, it is Montreal after all!
I went to Trader Joe's the other day and was shocked to see it still operating with occupy-like employees…They must not have gotten the memo on their ipads yet, or maybe they actually enjoy an above minumum wage for a job that requires zero skills too much to be bothered.
I've worked for my life ever since I graduated with an engineering degree 41 years ago. I've never collected unemployment. I paid off my student loan within a year of graduating.
It isn't as easy for the kids I saw protesting yesterday. Tuition rates are much higher than they were when I was studying and the job market is much worse. I was totally sympathetic to their cause and impressed by the way they were getting their message across.
OWS demands more government, more government control, more transfer payments, more debt, and more bailouts. They are demanding that the government force somebody to hire them and to pay them a middle-class salary, even though they have no marketable skills above the minimum-wage level, and are too narcissistic and entitled to function even at that level, skills or no.
While the right resorts to the same old bathing and hippie jokes, the left is hearing what the OWS are protesting.
Here we have Alan Grayson giving P.J. O'Rourke a smack down on Bill Maher's Real Time and explaining what Occupy Wall Street is all about in less than a minute:
http://www.politicususa.com/en/alan-grayson-occup...
Like I said, they are selfish. I have to pay for my life, and they get to be exempt because they want to? I see nothing impressive with the message. I see people who want the government to take care of them from cradle to grave. There's nothing noble or honorable about that message.
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.
they'll get it, too.
You have hippies, socialists, disaffected college kids with degrees but no future, nazis, communists and anarchists. Just how long can that group cohabit peacefully? The first violence- other than cops kicking their
skinny little asses- will be skinhead anarchists vs communists. And they are side by side now.
What they WANT is for Tea Party types to get violent, and they have been stymied so far. The media will cover for them, but once again the cell phone camera and instant downloads have ruined their planned propaganda campaign. That's why the stealth version of 'net neutrality' is happening right now…
"[L]et me tell you about what they’re talking about. They’re complaining that Wall Street wrecked the economy three years ago and nobody’s held responsible for that. Not a single person’s been indicted or convicted for destroying twenty percent of our national net worth accumulated over two centuries. They’re upset about the fact that Wall Street has iron control over the economic policies of this country, and that one party is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street, and the other party caters to them as well.”
O’Rourke joked that Occupy Wall Street has found their spokesman, then Grayson continued, “Listen, if I am spokesman for all the people who think that we should not have 24 million people in this country who can’t find a full time job, that we should not have 50 million people in this country who can’t see a doctor when they’re sick, that we shouldn’t have 47 million people in this country who need government help to feed themselves, and we shouldn’t have 15 million families who owe more on their mortgage than the value of their home, okay, I’ll be that spokesman.”
- Alan Grayson on Real Time http://www.politicususa.com/en/alan-grayson-occup...
This is the same Alan Grayson who said the GOP health care plans was to not get sick, and if you do, die quickly?
What's next? Providing a link to thinkprogress, huffypost, MMfA, or (LOL) DailyKos to back up an assertion?
Pull the other one!
I'm glad to see that a leftist nutcase like Grayson is hitching his wagon to the OWS loiterers. They can all go riding over the same cliff.
But it does speak to the value of the idea.
“An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.”
This definitely says something about the Canadian education system, and it isn’t good.
Would the fact that Nazis believe in evolution make it any less true?
When Communism or socialism takes charge, they're not friendly to anyone but big government.
We're suppose to have a Constitutional form of government, and resist any such take overs like OWS.
When they also believed that certain bloodlines were retrograde, like Jews, then one has to examine why they cleaved to a certain ideology has a whole.
When you have disparate parties like Iran's supreme imam and leader, American and Chinese communists, and Nazis ALL support the loiterers, simply asking does it "make it any less true" is, quite frankly, mendacious.
the DNC master leans you up against a tree and starts whipping you, then tells you the cause of your pain is the tree your leaning against. And that your absolution from the pain is to cut all the tress down.
Wall Street doesn't control anything Congress doesn't legislate them to control. They are fluid and ebb and flow to the policies that are put in place by utterly incompetent and corrupt individuals. The only time a Wall Street banker does a perp walk is when it can be tangentially associated with Republicans. SInce the latest scandal involves the touch of many Democrat Congressmen and women and policies, it is highly unlikely anyone will be jailed. You should be happy.
Does the queen sanction your leftist opinions? I suppose the crown loves the welfare state to keep the subjects druged and far from the levers of revolt.
You don't see the irony in this group of deep thinkers supporting the official receiving the most campaign dollars from Wall Street in US history and whose administration is littered with members of Goldman Sachs? Their solution is to do more of the failed policies. Proven failures here and abroad over DEACDES! NOW they want to forcibly TAKE property from other citizens to be given to their greedy little mitts. It's TYRANNY ! Yeah, that's what will get us going again long term. Steal from the successful, punish the successful. Nothing makes one want to work hard than the lack of financial reward and potential to be labeled an "evil" person because you busted your ass and succeeded, Thse kids need to wake up and read Mises, Hayek, Friedman etc. They are PARTOF THE PROBLEM, and their solution is to STEAL FROM OTHERS !! It's PURE GREED AND JEALOUSY!
The technology exists to catalog these individuals and create a database employers can review to ensure they don't inadvertently hire them.
"Free" (forced) employment is no more ethical than is "free" (forced) healthcare.

One Cure for Marxists…..
So when the Nazi party embraces a leftist ideology they move from the "scumbag, racist, @sshole" category to just "believers"? Now I understand your reasoning.
There are a lot of Progressive RINOs secretly behind that stealth version….
The people of FL-08 spoke loud and clear: Grayson got humiliated out of Congress last year. Next year, Emperor Hussein Obamugabe will get humiliated out of the Oval Office when the people nationwide stand up as one and just say NO to neo-Communism.
At least the Canadian education system gave me a good understanding of logical fallacies. In this case, "The American Nazi party supports Occupy, also. There's credibility for you." is an example of the "Guilt by Association" logical fallacy.
example: Hitler was in favor of euthanasia. Therefore, euthanasia is wrong.
counter example: Hitler was a vegetarian. Therefore, vegetarianism is wrong.

Indeed if OWS which I call Oh What Sh!t is so anti bank amongst other Anti's that have it will cripple the core small business sector. When small business cannot get a loan to upgrade add new spaces and or equipment they will stagnate and or close shop, and this means no jobs. And this boils down to the Micky D's owner that will pay $20 an hr. for the burger flipper
Here is a WSJ article that talks of a bank in Tx. that turned in its fed banking charter. Why? Because the Fed. is making the 27 year old bank who primarily loans to small business switch to more home loans. A very interesting read. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111904...
You forget teetotaler, but none of this can possibly explain your quote.
A leftist trying to lecture about guilt by association fallacies. That's rich!!
Come up with all the examples you want, but the Nazi's are standing side by side with you. Not me.
a Progressive is always the same no matter what they 'call' themsleves.
Rockefeller was a Republican. We still shudder at the thought…
The commies are out of the closet, what's next — "Proud to be Communist" tattoos on their foreheads?
The quote is simply another way of expressing the guilt by association fallacy. It attributed to Don Marquis.
Meaning that the very system she is supporting killed Che.
This from the Chicago Tribune.
Nurses Union protests at the mayor's office because two of their protesters were arrested and it took so long to get them processed.
And the kicker line is this: “We were among the last protesters released, for no good reason that we can tell, except for they clearly knew when the media cameras had left,”
Hungry for that TV exposure, ladies?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking...
Question? What is it exactly that you want.
Too me, it looks like you want a wholesale redistribution of wealth and if that's the case it will last about 2 years and then nobody has anything. Unemployment will be north of 25% and inflation will out of site.
If it's the real super banks you are after, and I doubt it, then you are talking about the bilderbergs. Good luck going after them, they want 80% of the world population to disappear.
That means you too Cantnuk
Hah, Alan Grayson giving P.J. O'Rourke a smackdown? Who the hell do you think you're fooling? For that matter, who the hell does the multimillionaire/trial lawyer/ex-congressman think he's fooling by claiming to stand with the OWS crowd?
For the record, leftist drone, Grayson was my congressman. He marched with the (now almost gone) Occupy Orlando group a couple weeks ago. Hundreds attended, and it made the front page of the papers. The local Tea Party has had rallies where thousands attended, and made page 3 of the local section. Grayson, by the way, lost by 19 points to someone who barely campaigned. You mindless leftist drones can consider his opinion worth noting. We who he failed to represent for two years think otherwise. We consider him to be a leftist opportunist who was more interested in seeking attention than doing his damned job, and if you think he gives a damn about Occupy Wall Street you're a fool. Grayson seeks to attach himself to whoever and whatever will get him press.
Oh, and no, I didn't bother watching your video. I'm not going to. I love watching P.J. O'Rourke, but I'd rather shove red-hot nails in my eyes than watch Maher or Alan Grayson.
You are quoting crazy Alan?
You gotta do better than that fool.
Grayson was (allegedly) my congressman. I will tell you I have never IN MY LIFE had more satisfaction voting than I did the day I got to vote that sleazy con-man out of office.
Then you pay for their tuition. Yeah, I'm guessing you're not that sympathetic.
I'd like to call Progressives 'endangered feces'….
I'm tired of all of this 'middle of the road' crap….

I'm willing to pay for increased student subsidies by increased taxes the same way that I've been paying for other peoples health care if they need it.
You frikkin' leftists, you never change. You pretend that you're making a willing sacrifice by calling for increased taxes, but what you're really demanding is (as always) that OTHER PEOPLE pay. Somehow you think this allows you to take the moral high ground. It doesn't.
Those students. The ones protesting. Pay their tuition. Until you're willing to do so, your sympathy is worth nothing at all.
That's gonna leave a scar…
;-D
Lady Liberty smiles at your dedication to freedom.
Nazis, the North Korean government, the Iranian government, CAIR, numerous outright communist organizations, all support Occupy Wall Street. I'm sensing a trend… it seems like authoritarians LOVE Occupy Wall Street. Funny, the Tea Party (which you leftist drones couldn't wait to savage) never got such endorsements, but if they had you would have been here happily throwing them in our faces.
At some point all but the most fanatical leftists are going to look on Occupy Wall Street with embarrassment.
"Fight for Socialism"……..and this is who Obama and the democrats have aligned themseves with.
Take a good look Independents……..is this the direction you want the country to go to in?
"If you don't believe in capitalism, don't apply for a job."
or the first snowfall.
I'm sorry, you apparently stumbled into a Tea Party and didn't realize it. With that said, we'll be happy to deport all our Occupy idiots to Canada if you agree to keep them. Permanently. On penalty of death.
Your delusion would be cute, if the issues weren't so serious.
My college calls me every year, asking for donations that can be earmarked for scholarships. You can do the same, and get the money to the school without your government scraping off 20% in "handling fees".
endangered feces?
Ho!
Good one…
You're right. The movement IS shrinking and the media laughing at them is well justified. I couldn't agree with you more. And when the cold sets in and these homeless rich kid vagrants start to learn what frostbite is they will go home to the Hamptons. Their college loans will be paid for by Mommy and Daddy and their socialist college professors will give them all "A's" in their insurrection studies classes. You're insight is very good, thanks for posting!
