Planned Job Cuts Highest in Two Years
by PubliusFrom Reuters:
Employers announced 115,730 planned job cuts last month, more than double August’s total of 51,114, according to the report from consultants Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.
The figure was the highest since April 2009 when 132,590 layoffs were announced.
September’s job cuts were also much higher than the same time a year ago, tripling from the 37,151 job cuts announced in September 2010. For 2011 so far, employers have announced 479,064 cuts, up 16.5 percent from the first nine months of 2010.
The data comes ahead of Friday’s monthly report on total U.S. nonfarm payrolls from the U.S. Labor Department which is expected to see a gain of 60,000 payrolls last month, according to a Reuters survey, after being unchanged in August.

GREAT JOB TEAM OBAMA!!! More people will be forced on the welfare/foodstamp roles. What is the plan when China says NO??? Time to stock up more Beans&RICE and a bit more LEAD TOO.
Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work I go!
Or maybe not.
Barrack Obama, the great equalizer.
We all be poor and unemployed now.
This Obama Depression is getting serious.
Private businesses can't grow when Obama is implementing Marxism in our country, actually beyond not growing our own government is forcing them to shut down.
Lets see them spin this and Blame Bush.
Private business can't grow, because of government overreach. Private business won't grow, because of the Obama Uncertainty.
Obama sees this as great news, won't be long now before the crushed citizens come begging for hope and change.
Just the GOP in the House… haven't you heard? They won't pass that jobs bill!
All of this TurbotaxTimmy speak of 'recovery' has been nothing more than a numbers-cooking load of hogwash.
As I responded to Larry Kudlow; Recession? If you have a job, ya.
It's worse if you don't.
Between Obama's increasingly stringent EPA regs, and his NLRB telling companies where they can make their products, is it any wonder there are no jobs? Why don't people wake up and see the libs are ruining America because they know better than everyone else? Only an imbecile would open or expand a business here with this crowd of dunderheads in charge.
Sad to think that so many foolish idiots voted for this punk!

Never mind that that that dried up pimple on the ass of humanity Reid won't even bring it up in the Senate! When are people going to wake up and realize that the dems are a bunch of hypocritical, self serving hacks?
Looks like the quiet friendly trolls are visiting us again.
It's going to be a hard candy Christmas for many Americans this year. Maybe we can seek out someone in our neighborhood who needs help and give what we can. The best way to show our true character is by action.
Here's a simple solution to one case: Call off the dogs, rescind the Lacey Act and give Gibson Guitar back their fretboard wood.
How much more help from the government can this country take? Go back on vacation Obama, it's cheaper and better for the country!
Yep, things are going just as planned.

Oh we got change, and now we've got no hope! One term!
Some of us already have, the rest? most-likely never.
As the saying goes, Ignorance can be cured but stupidity is forever.
The democrats play on the stupid. They make them feel smart and compassionate. They make them feel they are worth something when they do nothing. The democrats play to the ego and greed of people and then tell them that hubris and theft are good things. The democrats take all that is vile and disgusting about human nature and tell people it is okay to feel that way. They tell them it is okay because those 'others' with money are just greedy for not giving you 'your share.'
The ignorant believe those things for a while, the stupid hold on to them like a one legged man holds on to his crutch. The biggest problem we face today is that we have far more stupid people now than just ignorant people. They have been given an 'education' that glorifies stupidity but calls it smart.
My favorite line from Men in Black "Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll KNOW tomorrow. "
I understand and agree with your economic theories, but I couldn't help noticing there is a lot of hiring going on too. Ford is opening like 6 new plants with new workers (abet at less than 1/2 the standard union wage).
I just get the feeling the really big guys are digging in their heels?
People who are starting to feel things are settling down. I wonder what they know that we don't?
I blame global warming.
Not this citizen.
Like the old Russian joke.
Old guy waits in line for 2 hours for coffee. When he finally reaches the front of the line, the clerk tells him he's all out of coffee.
Guy in trench coach grabs him, hustles him out side and warns him 'if you ever do that again I'll kill you!
Guy's wife says 'so now we're out of coffee?' Guy replies 'worse than that, the KGB is out of bullets.'
Our church dose a couple of hundred full turkey dinner baskets. My cash donation for turkey certificates is dedicated to you!
Too bad Peter Townsend wasn't younger. He'd get his fret boards back.
I don't know what to say, but….thanks. I doubt I deserve that honor. We also hand out baskets and it is a good way to give. Good for you, your church and your community!
I agree, good post!
And shareholder wealth will be thusly maximized.
The average family health insurance = 15,000. The US median income = 49,000, yet many here agree with the right of the shareholder to compel higher taxes from the bottom 50%. This would include many shareholders who pay a 15% income tax on their dividends. What a great bunch of folks.
Don't forget, Bush, Cheney, The Tea Party, radical conservatives in Congress, bedbugs, flouride in the water, the military-industrial complex, sunspots, all of talk radio, and JuJuBees.
Herman Cain says it's your fault for being unemployed, guys.
No, not the people in line looking for jobs … the entitled Marxist rabble "occupying" Wall Street.
