The Cheat Sheet, September 22: Florida Takes Center Stage in GOP Race
by PubliusTonight, GOP candidates will face off in Orlando for this week’s presidential debate. Tonight’s debate is sponsored by FoxNews and Google (!). The latest polling shows the race tightening between Perry and Romney, Gingrich gaining ground and Bachmann fading. Romney has been hitting Perry on Social Security, Perry has been hitting Romney on health care. Tonight’s debate will also feature former NM Governor Gary Johnson, whom we’re told is also running for president.
Romney is looking somewhat strong in New Hampshire, though Huntsman is also making some noise. Unfortunately, may feel New Hampshire isn’t a good bellwhether of things to come in the GOP nominating process.
Government shutdown? (Actually, sounds ok to us.) Yesterday, a block of rank-and-file GOP Congressmen stunned House leadership by voting down a short-term spending plan to keep the government open. The current continuing resolution funding the government expires at the end of the month.
More developments on Operation Fast and Furious. The investigation may make many furious in the end but the ramifications may play out slowly, right through 2012.
The inspector general of the Department of Justice undermined and obstructed a congressional investigation by releasing secret tape recordings that corroborate allegations of misconduct in “Operation Fast and Furious,” according to a letter written by Rep. Darrell Issa and Sen. Charles Grassley.

Censured, Schmensured: House set to honor Rep. Charlie Rangel. Sure he was censured by the same august body just a few months ago, but what’s a few indiscretions on taxes between friends.

Amazing how Rangel gets a pass and recognition still, after his censure….and to top it off, now he's recognized with a $64k valued painting….ONLY in American politics……
IT is about time the candidates who are at the debate stop shredding each other and start laying all of this crap at the feet of Barry-Bop and the Dimocrapic party.

I know that we have not exactly done what we were supposed to do down here. Sir, it’s not for a lick of trying:) But, I have a small, a very small, request. You see sir, there is this satellite that is in the process of descending to the Earth. It happens to be a weather satellite. If you could see your way clear to drop it on Al Gores house, just so long as no one gets hurt, including Als’ massage therapist . . . well let’s just say if that happened, we will go much farther in defending this last bastion of liberty and religious freedom.

Since Google, a big friend to Obama is partnering with FNC, thei lends much credibility to FNC which has not been talked about.
Just as the partnering of CNN and the Tea Party gave credibility to the much maligned TP.

Works both ways. I lost everything including my dog….and the joint account was cleaned out. He was a muckity muck working for DHS. State Att. said I had no chance. Cronyism at it's best. Oh…….also threatened to kill me.
Unfortunately (or fortunately…depending on your perspective) this is going to continue for the foreseeable future. It is necessary to contrast themselves not only against the POTUS, but also between themselves.
It is a given that we all agree what we DON'T want…that being 4 more years of Obama the Lame. This process will help us determine what we DO want.
In Rick Perry, we've got a guy who admits to making a mistake, and demonstrated he was willing to listen to his constituents and correct the mistake.
In Romney, we've got a guy who refuses to acknowledge his mistake (RomneyCare) and continues to defend it.
That's a pretty clear choice to me. I'm hoping to see that difference clarified in the debate tonight.

Wow, call me Nostradamus. I said in an earlier post that there was/is a drop in the Dow as people liquidate, and sure enough, it's happening on a mass scale. Hold on people, this could be the start of the financial tsunami that anyone with a brain has seen coming for years now.
You're mixing your metaphors. There is nothing wrong with American politics that a decent and moral society couldn't fix in a week.
I don't know what polling data you've been looking at, but it doesn't even remotely match what I've been seeing.
He's a sociopath with psychopathic tendencies. I don't think there is another pea in any pod that would match the "hate" and his homicidal tendencies.

My sympathies to both of you. The majority of courts rule in favor of the wife (even if she is underserving), especially when there are kids involved.

All of this focus on left vs right, D's vs R's, liberal vs conservative, patriot vs anti-American is just more diversion and BS. Every day and on every front, more of America's fabric is destroyed and we grow much weaker. I am suprised that our avowed enemies have not already taken advantage of our collective stupidity and attacked. Let's all of us just keep on talking, arguing and typing out posts like this one and maybe things will be better tomorrow. Im not holding my breath.

When politicians play poker together their rule is…. When someone gets caught cheating, they have to sit out 3 hands.
So, you see how large and endemic the problem REALLY is. We aren't going to solve anything through some contrived political system. Electing moral leaders does no good. They either become corrupted, or they fall out of favor with their degenerate constituencies.
The problem is society.
Looking at the polling questions, was the result only based on the first question or some statistical manipulation of all the questions. If not just the first question, the survey was incredibly slanted towards Perry and Romney just by the wording of the questions.
It would be nice if the media would give Paul and Johnson a bit more air-time. I think they are the only two offering a choice against the status quo of larger government via welfare or warfare.
I hope that in November a year from now we can play that "record " backwards.
Agreed its society….so we can either move away of fix it, but I don't know anywhere we can move to, so I say we fix it. How do we fix it? Teach, Our kids, our neighbors, anybody that will listen,one small step at a time, something to think about the, Tea Party is still growing, if the economy gets much worse, we will have more and more people joining because there isn't any other choice, so our outlook isn't too bad.
Quit letting the government teach our kids.
Quit letting welfare parents teach their kids how to be welfare parents.
Allow parents to spank their kids without threats fromt he ACLU.
USMCsc typing on posts like this one is the only way to filter information, the news outlets aren't doing it for us any longer, so I think that it's nessesary, and it gives us a way to help the ones who are so fedup that they may go and do something wrong,it helps ease some of the angist we have for whats going on.
